zuraking: honestly I am not. We shouldn't be bias. We shouldn't carry anything religion or tribe on our head. I believe we have more successful and matured people here than any thread.
I value this thread a lot because before someone can think of building house from the little money he/she is getting then he/she must be a complete homo sapiens. We have many enjoyment in Nigeria where we can lavish our money and forget future. Can you quote where I'm been biased? |

I know the special search and funny looks these foreigners give we Nigerians in their airports and why? Cos of what they know us for and does that means all of us carry drugs and scam online? Seems you want to pick on me... Please let's respect our opinions |

They will be ignored and they will finally crawl back to their holes. Here isn't politics section where senseless jobless ediotss fight about religion and tribe. A particular tribe scammed him and he made it clear so he should apologise for that? Just like the rest of the world calling Nigerians scammers? |

davodyguy: When buying tiles, ensure you do the measurements accurately with your tiler and also ensure proper conversion from sqm to cartons and lastly if possible, after agreeing price with supplier, go with your tiler when going for pickup.
I just got swindled of 90+ cartons costing over ₦130,000.
Lesson learned.
I know all tribes in Nigeria have bad people, but we need to be wary of some particular ones.
When I bought cables from them, it's the same thing until I stood my ground.
When I bought conduit pipes from them, it's same thing. They sold fake 20mm at the price of original 20mm Dignity pipes. I stood my ground and returned all pipes
Now it's tiles from Orile. This criminally minded Patrick Ebere knew what he did, smuggled all the tiles in the truck before my arrival to make U turn to the other side. Swearing that ' ọgá the thing complete' 'maka why I go cheat you'
I said I'm coming to his shop, he said no that he has traveled to the East, whereas this bastard is right here in Lagos I will suggest you modify your post... Just my one Kobo |

BankeSmalls: You can keep sounding self righteous because you already had the plan to blame someone else for your laxity. You failed to count your goods and you are here still blaming the seller when you should have turned back the truck at the road to recount.
I hate it when people come online to spread hate because of their own failure to do the right things. A nairalander even offered you lower prices, but noooo, you must go buy from those whom you don't like, whom you claimed had cheated you many times just to come and cry here? Gbamsolutely.... Just like Buhari blaming Jonathan |

Acquire a skill now, just like our people say.... It's easier to acquire education at young age than at older age |

KolaShangOne: I think we are mixing child labour with "child work training". The difference is "choice".
I can take my child to site to take measurements. My baba bricklayer brings his children during holidays to site.
Child labour is when the child doesn't have a choice and has to do hard labour to survive.
Child hard labour is still bad. It will always be. But because of the peculiar nature of our dysfunctional society, we are seeing it as not a big deal.
None of us here will allow our 8 year old child to go and carry concrete or blocks.
You can combine apprenticeship and education. After school, I used to go n meet my Dad at work. We just have refused to accept realities of our present environment.must everyone visit the four walls of the school? Some are destined to be; 1. Educationists 2. entertainer's 3. Sports personalities Education is overrated here. Everyday find X. My son is 7+...im planning for for him to learn a skill immediately he gets to higher school. We so much believe in certificate. |

In my bid to finding out the cause of the sudden spike in price of cement. As usual i parley with a major distributors salegirl who told me that the rebate enjoyed by the major distributors from the manufacturer's have been withdrawn.these rebates comes in products (cement) not Cash which is subject to meeting their targets.
The consumers are now to bear the brunt of the whole matter |

n3xt: Alternative Building Solutions
One would naturally assume steel is more expensive than wood.
When I got into the formwork rental business, I realized this was partly true. Steel shutters are more cheaper in the long run than marine board formwork.
You can reuse them for years and their resale value is higher. There are columns forms that I’ve been using for over 8 years without any defect.
_______ Pic 1 - Plywood formwork for Columns Pic 2 - Steel shutters for columns Pic 3 - Fixing the plywood formwork Pic 4 - Fixing the steel forms (requires little or no experience)
A timber formwork would require more effector to install and strike out when used than any of the alternative solutions above. Hence, the higher cost of installation.
If you think about it, for every project where timbers are used (for every house) you will need to buy bags of nail, bundles of binding wires, wood for props, etc. You won’t require need to buy the same (or at least same quantity) when you’re using the alternatives (plywood or steel) and the rental rate is far cheaper. I've always thought about the use of steel rather than wood,we just waste trees in this part of the world. I will want to do it as a rental business in my location. Where over 500 structures are springing up |

DancingSkeleton: I’m trying to decide what kind of 4” pipe I’m to use for my plumbing work. The grey colored pipe with yellow tin line (naija) or the blue one. I’d love to know the difference tho I noticed the blue one is longer than the grey colored pipe.
Thats why I’ve decided to wait till there’s a reduction in the price. It will but May not so soon... probably when the rains start |
