edicolove: The plot is getting clearer by the day. This peeps who criticize the president on NL do not care about the country or about good governance. They are just doing propaganda and it doesn't really matter how they achieve it. All is fair in a quest for power and loot. Disgusting! ifihearam: @beaf. You are on point about the moderatorsI hope yall realize its not the MODS fault but Punch Newspaper. |
chima12: exactly.the poster is a confirmed sychophant.why highlight their names?why?Shut up! |
presido1: Why highlighting the names of the children? To show that they were all from the same family! This was my comment after posting the article jason123: Nice one Fashola. The God is truly with the fatherless. |
naptu2: They read out a phone number on the radio, but I couldn't write it down. They said relatives of the children, or anyone who knows their relatives should call that number. Please do. Thanks in advance! ![]() |
Mehn, only God protects! I am sure those kids were expecting to see their parents later that day. God please heal them! ![]() |
Nice one Fashola. The God is truly with the fatherless. |
Gov. Babatunde Fashola has rescued and taken custody of three kids whose parents have been missing since the DANA Air aircraft crashed into their Iju-Ishaga neighbourhood at Iju, Agege, a Lagos suburb, on Sunday. The homeless children; Joel Okechukwu (11), Chisom Okechukwu (9) and Esther Okechukwu, whose age could not be immediately ascertained, were wandering around when they were spotted and rescued by the governor during his visit to the site on Monday. The children, who are now at the Goverment House, Ikeja, were sent on errands by their parents, Mr Jeremiah Okechukwu and Mrs Josephine Okechukwu, when the aircraft hit their home and reduced it to a rubble. The emergency response officials still working on the crash site had yet to ascertain whether the couple were dead or still trapped in the debris. Briefing newmen on the rescue of the kids, Mr Aderemi Ibirogba, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, said they would remain with the governor until some of their relatives were identified. “As things are now, the kids will remain with the governor here at Alausa. It`s so unfortunate that we cannot find the parents, but Joel, the eldest of the kids, has mentioned to us a particular uncle of theirs. “He said the uncle`s name is Anthony Okechukwu and that he lives in Abuja. We are trying to establish links with him and inform him of the situation of the kids. We want the public to help us in this search. “Of course, the governor is very willing to assist the kids, but the government thinks we should still know their relations. “The kids are safe and they are being taken care of at Government House.” Ibirogba said the children had passed Sunday night in the home of an unnamed Samaritan in the neighbourhood before they were seen and picked up by the governor during his visit to the area on Monday. The governor had, during the visit, described the plane crash as shocking and emotionally devastating, expressing his condolences to the families of the 153 victims. Fashola later visited some of the victims of the crash at the Emergency Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), in Ikeja. The entire Popoola and Akande Toyin streets were cordoned off by heavily armed security personnel, even as rescue efforts continued. A number of houses were reduced to rubble, even as thick smoke still covered a two-storey building which was seriously damaged by the crash. Emergency response workers were also seen removing some bodies from the debris, as well as wrecked parts of the ill-fated aircraft.
It is a poor observation on your side. The cables are more or less a fancy design than supports for the bridge. It is not a suspension bridge in any way. If you take a closer look at some of the clear images you would find out that there are supports rising from the bed of the water for the bridge. This image below illustrates what I am trying to explain.
No, it is not. Take a closer look at the pictures. You'll see that the bridge is divided into two parts. There is a part that is suspended by cables and the rest held up by the pillars. I'll re-post the pictures taken by Naptu2 so you can take a second look at it. Bluetooth, na you start am o! What has this got to do with his ethnicity?! |
Nice one Mr. president. |
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has declared a three-day period of national mourning for victims the Dana plane crash in Lagos today. In a statement on the incident by his spokesman, Reuben Abati, President Jonathan who has cancelled all his public engagements scheduled for tomorrow, has also directed that the Nigerian flag be flown at half-mast for the three days of national mourning. He has ordered full investigation into the crash. In compliance with the President’s directive, Abati said the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah has already left Abuja for Lagos to oversee the crash investigations and present an interim report to the federal government as soon as possible. While condoning with the families of all those who lost their lives in the plane crash, the President noted that the incident has sadly plunged the nation into further sorrow on a day when Nigerians were already in grief over the loss of many other innocent lives in the church bombing in Bauchi State. President Jonathan assured air travellers in the country that every possible effort will be made to ensure that the right lessons are learnt from the tragic loss of valuable lives in today’s plane crash and that further measures will be put in place to boost aviation safety in the country. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news-update/48893-jonathan-declares-three-days-national-mourning-for-plane-crash-victims.html |
If they were not, Lagos, Ogun and Ibadan would have turned to war zones! |
Yorubas are the most accommodating. It is a known fact in Nigeria. Just as Igbos are hardworking, Itsekiris are the richest small group etc. Why don't we all just say it as it is?! |
manny4life: Haba Beaf,That is the Naija mentality!!! Remember, Lagos and Rivers earn roughly the same (rivers earn a little more) yet Lagos has more to show for it! In all this, people are still trying to justify criminality! It is a sad day for Nigeria! |
kaeto: where are those vagabonds in Lagos singing his adoration n worship on the monorail thread, now where are you, where are you people?! Chei! This man is a thief. Just compare lagos n rivers state, both generate similar revenue, now check the achievements of the governors. CRA has not done 10% in sincere cost of projects that BRF has done in lagos yet the foolish political choristers recruited, blinded n 'be-dumbed' by pdp are here chewing tissue papers used in wiping amechi's ass. Nigerians beware n be warned, this man is a fraud n ALL his successful projects were awarded by the defunct Omehia gov. Be warned n be wise! Thank you!Bros, no vex. I thought Amechi was different . . .smh ![]() |
PDP!!!!! Power to the Politicians |
PointB: Governors don't deliver votes, people do. Otherwise, the Ohakim will still be the Governor of Imo state by now, many of those PDP governors will still be in power in SW.Another view might be that they (ACN and CPC) will become desperate and might pick an APGA candidate to appeal to the SE voters. . . . |
afam4eva: Point of correction, APGA has two states, Anambra and Imo. How many states does CPC have? PointB: Governors don't deliver votes, people do. Otherwise, the Ohakim will still be the Governor of Imo state by now, many of those PDP governors will still be in power in SW.My point is, it will be harder for a coalition to support an APGA candidate than an ACN or CPC candidate. The reason is because APGA, I'm sorry, is just not seen as a force to be reckon with nationally, FOR NOW (that might change later). Moreover, there is a chance that Ngige will win Anambra if he should contest, meaning ACN has something on APGA but APGA has NOTHING on ACN. Thirdly, I think the politicians in both parties will be thinking along the line of producing an ACN and CPC Pres and VP (which ever order) with APGA Senate pres. Why? Both parties know that the SE generally have NEVER played the "opposition"; that is, it will be hard to wean the SE voters from PDP. All in all, I think there is a very slim chance that they will pick an APGA candidate as their candidate but if they do, it should be seen as an act of good-will because the odds are stacked against APGA. |
PROUD-IGBO:Yes, I admit it! Apologies! |
Onlytruth: Not that I value Nigerian statistics much, because they are political tools. Thanks for the info. I got the stats from this same website. Na wa o! |
PointB: APGA should do business with CPC, and CAN if those two agrees that the best way to kill PDP is by supporting a president from the SE Zone.Anything other than that, we are quite happy to continue on our trajectory. Igboland is not the worse of in Nigeria uses any index you like.Omo, you go grow 'metu'! What does APGA have to offer? ONE state, yet, you want the ones that can deliver 12+7 states at a heart beat to bow down for one state?! You high? ![]() APGA has to win the remaining 4 states in the SE and possibly extend her tentacles to other regions before she can even suggest the highlighted. But if the highlighted happens at all, it should be seen as a gesture of good-will because, frankly, APGA has nothing to offer . . .for now. |
PROUD-IGBO:I guess most Northerners now prefer Abuja airport to Kano. |
PROUD-IGBO: ![]() I checked the pages you mention and I didn't find anything. The one that surprised me was Owerri Airport for 2007. But i suppose that was when Port Harcourt Int'l was being refurbished as its figures were quite low (less tha 5,000) for the year.'Leading', I am guessing they meant 'international airports'. Anyway, the information is provided. This will help the discussion |
As for Bittyend, I wonder what your problem is with the Igbos. Its like they give you sleepless nights, don't they?! |
DaLover: Apga is clearly trying to be an igbo party....but how come shinkafi is a member of the party?See your life?! . Must you run around calling the Yorubas as if they stole your wife? Someone like you should know what it means to include them here, an Igbo thread! You started the whole tribal war on this thread, why?!Well, this reply is for you. See an Igbo man educating you: bisiaet: I'm most delighted as an young Igbo man that the Mallam say what they have just said Now biko where are my brother the super talk mr name callings where art thou now talk ooooooo show your face Hausaman now say he owns APGA so what do we do now |
Onlytruth: This question has bugged my mind for weeks and months now. It has got to the stage that I cannot sleep well at nights while pondering this question. I remember vividly how we lobbied (at least added our voices) to the appointment of Anyim Pius Anyim to the position of Secretary to the Federal Government. There are such other Igbo personalities now as Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and others. I would not be exaggerating if I say that we hold strategic positions in this government. This is why: Kano KANOEnugu Enugu 102,541http://www.nigerianstat.gov.ng/ext/latest_release/ssd09.pdf |

These ladies are funny mehn! Well, I am a very good cook even better than my spouse but I prefer to eat my spouse's food. Why? It is because I love her and she do not want any other woman to cook my food (neither do I). @ Women who can't cook, all I can say is, get ready for a SERIOUS heart break. The day your "loving and caring" husband or BF finds a girl that can cook, you are finished! There is a saying, " the easiest way to a man's heart is his stomach". Husband/BF snatchers know this FACT and they use this fact to get what they want. Although s.ex is important but food is very important. Please ladies, don't joke with your relationships, that is, if you are in a serious one (obviously, if you are in a non-serious relationship, then it does not matter whether you can cook or not). |
PROUD-IGBO:Mehn, you are angry o! The readers can clearly see and feel the genuine frustration poured-out on this post. I repeat, the SE needs a SERIOUS economic committee dedicated to these sort of things OR Rochas(APGA) needs to show the way. Waiting for the FG is pointless in Nigeria and we all know it. Given the corruption level in Nigeria, before he money trickles down to where its needed . . . hmmn; little or nothing will be left! |
