Odenigbo Aroli: Lets get it started; As far as I can read the topic says "the yoruba are the most accomodating in Nigeria". Now Alh hare aka Jason, what makes the yoruba more accomodating and what makes the Igbos less accomodating ? Have you lived in lagos Island ? Have you lived in Onicha,PH,warri and Asaba ? I want you to give me one attribute that makes them more accomodating and dont give me that crap about all ethnic groups living in lagos cos lagos in not the only yoruba state and we have all ethnicities living in Aba,ph,onicha,jos,calabar and kano. So, tell me how the content of this article qualifies as a fact ? Did he make indepth research on how yorubas treat their visitors and compare that to how Igbos treat theirs ? How did he arrive at that conclusion? Could it be that he was mistaking the infrastructural abilities that lagos offers due to its host of the federal capital for decades for accomodation on the yoruba part ? I was born in jos and lived their till i was 15yrs before we moved to bini and from bini to lagos before i left for abroad. I have some solid facts from about the yorubas which i accumulated from experience in dealing with them. This is an assignment for you! I will present lots of my various encounter with yorubas as we progress..

Chinom: I don't know why you people always make such issues an Igbo vs Yoruba issue. Maybe because both tribes are most active on NL. But are guys aware that the sea port that made Lagos what it is today are in the hands of Dangote, Isyaku Rabiu, Ibru and to a lesser extent Ibeto. The first 3 are not Igbos. The Lagos question has gone way beyond the Yorubas. The yoruba claim is nothing but Geography.

Thank you for saying this, because I want my Igbo brothers to understand that we must make sure that history never repeats. I pray everyday that the leaders of my people do not behave like some of the ones commenting on this thread if ever we need to fight again. I pray that my type sits there at the strategy room.

bashr8: fighting who , when you visited abuja ,ph like u claimed did you see indigens beating up non indigiens and chasing them away? yorubas had no say in llagos until 1999 when it became part of the southwest after the military left by then it have already become cosmopolitan just like every other major city in nigeria so i will really like to know what accomodation they are giving others that them are not getting in other non yoruba cities.

Chinom: For the upteenth time, i will remind Yorubas that what lagos is today has nothing to do with the Yorubas. Yorubas had no say and still have no say in who lives in Lagos. They did not offer any accommodation, the accommodation was taken. First by the British and later by various military regimes before they decided to move the seat of govt to Abuja. FYI Lagos forms the biggest obstacle to Nigeria splitting up today.

bashr8: dont mind these block headed yorubas. even with constant harrasment of people in lagos they still open their mouth , for them nigeria startes and ends in yorubaland. tomorrow not gwari people will come out and say they are the most accomodating because federal govt built abuja there. its only in yorubaland that people go around askng you what ethnic group you are , in other cities like ph, onitsha ,warri ,benin , abuja nobody cares where you are from.

They live peacefully with their host community.
They are very industrious, thus they develop their hosts' community.
They learn the language of their host communities so as to adapt.
They do not discriminate against their host communities; thus, they marry their daughters and sons as well.
They stay for eleven months at their host community and spend only one month at their traditional home, during a twelve calendar month year.
They take the culture of their host communities to their traditional communities.

These are just few reasons why Igbo are the best visitors/strangers, kindly add yours to the list.

No wonder Lagos is populated with Igbo and the people of Igala are ready to welcome Igbo to invest in their community.

The Trans-African Highway project was conceived as a means of bringing Africans closer. Lagos-Badagry Expressway was supposed to be part of Ecowas' contribution to the project. The project was later abandoned.

The Obasanjo Administration planned the Lagos-Ogun Mega City Project. One of the things the project is meant to do I to create a railway line from Lagos to Ogun (the Lagos-Ogun Mega City Project office is on Okotie-Eboh road in Ikoyi. Close to Dodan Barracks). Not much has been heard of the project since Obasanjo, Tinubu and Daniel left office.

Governor Fashola states that the Lagos Mega City is a status conferred on Lagos by it's population size. It is not a project. The challenge is for government to react appropriately to the increase in population and make it a modern city(note: it used to be called Lagos-Ogun Mega City, but I've not heard Fashola call it that).

The Lagos-Badagry Road project is one of the ways the government reacts. It would expand the road to 10 lanes, including BRT lane and a rail service. The Lagos State Government got a loan from the World Bank to execute the project (they were initially considering various funding models, including ppp, tolling, etc). The road is designed to open up the western axis, just as the lekki road project is opening the eastern axis. Fashola stated that many people do not want to live and work in that axis because of the traffic jam, even though people complain of shortage of land and houses in lagos.

The Federal Minister of works, Hassan Lawal threatened to stop the project (this was while Yar'Adua was in hospital. Despite the fact that Yar'Adua's administration guaranteed the World Bank loan).

After acting president Goodluck Jonathan reshuffled the cabinet, the new minister of works, Sanusi Daggash stated the the problem had been solved and Lagos State could continue with the project.

About 2 weeks ago, the minister of trade and investment declared that the Federal Government were pleased with the project and will hand over more rail lines/right of way to the Lagos State Government.
