TalkingBird: Good logic. It follows an age long principle-
(Matthew 7:12) 12 “All things, therefore, that YOU want men to do to YOU, YOU also must likewise do to them; this, in fact, is what the Law and the Prophets mean.

However, it shouldn't be an excuse for commonizing it as found in every day relationships around us.
jay bee: Not a must but courtesy demands you do if you're the one doing the inviting and her transportation cost is going to be beyond the norm e.g she had to take a licensed cab for the sole purpose of visiting you

TalkingBird: Could it be an African mentality?
Do European ladies do the same?
I wont be wrong to say no, because they - Eurpoean ladies, take responsibility for their engagements.
It's the African way simply because we are limited in our choice of transportation.
Transportation is somewhat cheap and effective in the western world so it would rather be unusual for you to refund the few quids that the date used for the visit.

I would expect a man to absorb the cost of travel for the date especially when they are going out of there way e.g travelling from a different town/city, having to use a different type/mode of transportation

TalkingBird: Interesting!
Why is it interesting Sir/Ma?
Look at this scenario.
You own a car and seriously tied up to the extent that you are unable to go pick your date for one reason or the other. You ask her to get a cab instead of waiting for you to come pick her so as to save time. Would you expect her to pay considering the fact that you asked her to come see you, she is having to change her usual mode of transportation because of your busy schedule so as to please you.

kandiikane: Jaybee, how can you be filled on wine? How about those who don't drink wine?

Chinese buffet alone, I go 3rounds plate full(just starter oo), imagine tiny starter like that?

Ileke-IdI:
Those are the $25/person restaurants jor. . . . Fridays, Red lobster, etc

their main goal is to actually FEED you.

Expensive 5 star restaurants are more concerned with food presentations. One scoop of icecream is actually larger than their dishes.
I beg to differ. Expensive restaurants is all about the experience which offcourse most times includes wine and numerous supplies of bread/butter for starters, main course (like the picture you have above) and desert.

The wine and starter would have filled you before the main arrives anyway so the quantity moderation is the ish abeg.

I know i like my naija food wella but on numerous occasions that I've had to eat at one of those restaurants, i was surprised at how filled up i was at the end of the whole experience
RomanceRe: Ladies, How Would You React If A Man Takes You To This Kind Of Restaurant? by jaybee3(m): 5:13am On Aug 01, 2012
It's going to be a 3 course meal jor and people usually get filled by the time you've managed to battle the whole food.
usually looks small but rather filling with the way they pace the delivery time of each meal

TravelRe: Why Is UK So Expensive??? by jaybee3(m): 6:03pm On Jul 30, 2012
Splitting goat/lamb/pig ain't really a biggie.
Most people do so because of its value, freshness and the ability to enjoy quantity whilst quality isn't being compromised.
I wouldn't do it personally cos i ain't big on 'em goats et al as well as the requirement of having to wake up rather too early in the morning to go do the shopping.
It's common among Zimbabweans as well so it ain't just a Nigerian phenom

Christianity EtcRe: Bishop Oyedepo To Muslim Sister : “Convert To Christianity Or Die Poor,” by jaybee3(m): 2:21pm On Jul 29, 2012
Down in the south west where it's not uncommon to have families with mixed religious beliefs, you hardly ever see family members denying help because of religion differences.
My mum is a strong muslim, 3 of my sisters practice Christianity, 3 practice Islam and i ain't religious and we are still one happy family. Blood should always be thicker regardless
Christianity EtcRe: Bishop Oyedepo To Muslim Sister : “Convert To Christianity Or Die Poor,” by jaybee3(m): 12:56pm On Jul 29, 2012
ekt_bear: Jarus, it is certainly very generous and kind of you to do this.

However, perhaps Oyedepo feels that her non-belief will condemn her to hell (given that this is what his Bible says). Given this belief, is his position not somewhat understandable?

After all, material deprivation here on earth is certainly not as bad as eternal suffering.

Perhaps in your opinion, he should simply give her the money and quietly at the same time try to convert her. But he is not evil for choosing a different route, is he? He has the freedom to choose, yes?
Would it be Ok for oyedepo to refuse to help if it was a matter of life/death situation just because someone is off different belief to his?
Would your conscience allow you do the same if you were in oyedepo's shoes?
Christianity EtcRe: Bishop Oyedepo To Muslim Sister : “Convert To Christianity Or Die Poor,” by jaybee3(m): 12:45pm On Jul 29, 2012
Seriously SMH at how wealth is being attributed to religion/beliefs.
Where has religion taken us so far as a nation?
Conditions should never be attached to help if one is able to do it period.

Another similar case like this happened in he UK in the 90's albeit with a devastating ending. Saddistic children ought to be dealt with once they start displaying such traits
