A young lady willing to get pregnant doesn't need a bb as an enabler to do so.

blank: But her parents feel it will spoil her so why get it for her?
I understand she is staying with you but still consider her parents in this decision.
Also, if she is going to uni, how do u plan on monitoring the use?

Personally, i feel once the person is old enough to enter uni the person can get a phone.
Just don't feel its right to disregard her parents and your husband just for a phone.
The parents are probably reluctant because of the cost of buying the phone not her owning a phone.
If the girl is good and hard-working then a lil reward here and there should be encouraged.

At the end of the day a girl at that age that's already saving money as well as doing side business should always be rewarded. Would you prefer she goes tagged as one of the materialistic girls us dudes are going on about?

The girl asked for something and even came with reasons why it's a good idea to get it for her. Now the bb is not simply a want, it's a need in her books.

I'd say get it without a doubt
BusinessRe: Pls What Good Business Can I Start With £50,000 In UK? by jaybee3(m): 11:47am On Aug 16, 2012
That's the 1 million dollar question everyone is seeking an answer to.

I guess the safest long term business in the UK is property developing and this might just be the right time to get into it.

You can also buy a good franchise if you aren't afraid to be hands on.
FamilyRe: My Niece Wants A Blackberry Phone by jaybee3(m): 11:37am On Aug 16, 2012
bb makes economic sense if you are absolutely sure the constant pinging won't derail her.
Buy the phone with strict conditions that it get's switched off at a certain time of the day.
FamilyRe: Between Your Mother And Your Husband . . . by jaybee3(m): 11:11am On Aug 16, 2012
Hubby's advice so long you are comfortable with it should always rule.
You live with him not your mother.
Your mum is married to your dad and she probably function by his advices.

One of the common communication problems in marriages starts once the wife/husband starts listening to third parties for advices.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Nairaland Did Not Send You That E-Mail! by jaybee3(m): 9:39am On Aug 16, 2012
AmBeautiful: Thank you for telling us.

But i have several suggestions to make;

1. increase your mod and give each of them different assignments to do, one mod should get rid of silly and unviewable posts, some others should be given the responsibility of attending solely to complains, while others should delete spam, irrelevant topics or thread.
What happens if one or two of the mods in any given section is tied up for whatever reason and can't get the time to do there respective mod duties on NL. Are you in anyway suggesting the duties of those mod should now be left unanttended?
Flexibility should always be embedded as routine in all practices

AmBeautiful: 2.Create a platform were everyone has an inbox here on nairaland, so emails stop going to your own mailbox outside nairaland.
Have you ever thought about financial constraints doing such will throw at him?
Have you ever considered why system crashes?
NL is still privately owned and until the user gets adequate/more investment then we have to work with whatever we are provided with

AmBeautiful: 3.Go through all your memebers id and delete irrelevant id's or id's which have not been used in a long while or id's people no longer want.
How do you define irrelevant? Do you mean obsolete accounts? Makes sense in practical sense but then again the success of online business can only be quantified/mesured by the number of users that visit the sites. The owner is a business man so you don't suppose he kills his own business just because he wants to make few people happy.

AmBeautiful: 4. Try as much as possible to run NL in such a way that a member has just 2 or 3 accounts and any member who has more than two or 3 that you are aware of should have the others deleted.
Same as #3

AmBeautiful: 5. let topics on each thread be separated by date. Older topics should be arranged according to dates for example topics for last year should be not be in this year's folder, e.t.c.
Extra functionality that will only duplicate an already exisiting one. Topics already become active and ordered by posting time hence the most recent updated topics appear on the front page of each section.

AmBeautiful: 6.Choose moderators who wont be biased and who would do their jobs as it ought to be done, with absolute sincerity and fairness.
Moderators are human and they do try there posible best to make the site sane. There are numerous channels available to complain if a user feels being victimised by a moderator.
understanding that no system can ever be perfect will sure make each and everyone's NL life a lot easier

What if he doesn't, would he have failed his duties has Mr Ronkebp just because of his stance with regards to money?
Most people on this thread agree that it's necessary for us men to show love however way we can. We just frown when we are lead to believe how love can only be quantifiable by the amount of money we give to our better half

FamilyRe: by jaybee3(m): 11:09am On Aug 15, 2012
No matter what you teach them usually gets thrown outta the window once they start to taste freedom.

How do you stop a teenager from wearing mini skirts that attract the you know what dudes when the current dynamics/trends dictates that's probably what's needed to get accepted in the world?

Kids of today are well informed and the least we can do is to move with time as well as develop new ways to damage control for the if and when they do fall.

The idea of sex education for secondary school kids was started to encourage intimacy between children. It was more of an awareness campaign so they are well informed when making big decisions at early stages of there respective life.

It's just the damn Nigerian way
Greed Greed Greed
Our men doing all sort to get the money
Our women turning the blind eye to how the money was gotten all because of the thirst for good things life has to offer.

Armed robbery is yet to be synonymous with Nigerian females so logic tells me that if the men stop feeding these obvious thirst then may be just maybe our women will learn to understand and appreciate the benefits of hard work

braveheart2012: OK, I was with you until you started pulling out IB numbers from thin air to buttress your point. Please, stop saying things you know absolutely NOTHING about. Those salaries you're throwing about are high for a reason. Very few of these careers last for very long. Some of them work INSANE hours for a few short years and they are promptly kicked out when it's time to start bringing in clients that are mostly-British. Others live and die by the trading bell; you're hot one year and the next year your books implode and you've lost millions of pounds in one day for your desk. Very few (like less than 1% of all Nigerians that work in financial services in London) make it to MD level in front-office roles. Besides, the banks don't pay this kind of money anymore! Bonuses are currently at abysmal levels and bankers are lucky to have jobs at all. I know all this because I worked in the industry for several years (yes, I made 75k GBP my first year out of uni and much more as I progressed) but I left as soon as I made Associate Director. The lifestyle is absolutely unsustainable and I and my family suffered because of the sacrifices I made for money (thankfully, I am doing very well). None of my colleagues in banking are still there. Now I am older and wish I had just accepted an engineering job out of uni like my other colleagues. The money isn't sky-high when you start but it's a much more sustainable career with long-term prospects.

Abeg madam, stop hyping-up things you know nothing about or haven't experienced for yourself. Thank you.

HiiiPower: Taking all those courses also cost money.
Egbon mi, you know how difficult it's to pay bills and rent ni ilu mama charlie lol.
Money comes and go like magic, especially when you're not earning anything
within a period of time.
They do cost money hence the more reason why you have to be calculated if it's your chosen route. Most Nigerians that do contracting just follow the crowd instead of creating their own niche. They are also known to start driving them top of the range cars, living beyond there means once they start earning the dosh.
TravelRe: Nigerians have good jobs in UK (enough Of Sad Stories) by jaybee3(m): 6:01pm On Aug 12, 2012
HiiiPower: I know that!
But what do you do when the contract ends,
and you don't get offers?
Then, you're back at home till the next offer comes.

My point is, I'd rather work a job,
with no fixed contract, where I can dictate,
the terms of my contract. And resign honourably,
when I find a better job.

You know like a 'stepping stone' to building,
a solid and sound professional career, and moving on
when I want to.

With that being said; I have no problem whatsoever with temp jobs,
as 'man must survive'; but a temp job is just anything really.
There are some temp jobs and there are some other temp jobs.
If you have the right skills set and experience then it will be somewhat hard for you to be out of a job for a long period of time. I ain't talking about your regular software testers or so called project management guys.
Some Nigerians are known to be lazy hence the reason why they tend to be out of job for eons. If you are ready to evolve along with the constantly changing world of technologies then surely one shouldn't have a problem missing the boat.

I do get your point though about preferring to have job security over short term gain
TravelRe: Nigerians have good jobs in UK (enough Of Sad Stories) by jaybee3(m): 5:49pm On Aug 12, 2012
HiiiPower: Why would an intelligent person, want to continue 'temping' everywhere,
when you can build a career, through a permanent job?
It doesn't make sense at all.

And bear in mind that employment agencies do take out of your pay.
Different people, with different ideas. But I'd rather work a
permanent job, get the needed experience, and build my career;
than be on the move all the time, thus, sharing my salary with employment agencies.
Temp => Short/long term Contract
Job flexibility, highly remunerated and easy to acquire diverse skills within a short period of time.
