No sensible person should leave a world of certainty for an unkown. I happen to work for an organisation that is closely linked with the home office and was at a conference dat had a speaker from the home office outlining plans for the controversial new biometric passports and id cards(they will make it mandatory for everyone to carry it). Argument is, why leave a country that provides you with security of a good job, freedom to move freely without any fear whatsoever of deportation and most importantly you being classed as a first class citizen for a country that is fast becoming a police country. On the other you can argue your case based on the strength of the pound. You really have to remeber that money ain't everything in life and the only way you will be able to make enuff money than what you are making in naija is doing additional shady stuffs which thus increase your chance of being caught. |
Can anyone please put a figure to the pay, not that i am interested as they cannot pay what i am worth but just wanna have a clue as it seems a lot peeps are really stressing on this site about NLNG. To give you an example, a graduate engineer with masters degree in the UK will be paid somewhere in the region of 32K per annum by exxon mobil. on average grad engineers earn over 25k per annum |
Wats the fuss about NLNG? Wats the pay like? |
There are 2 rooms. One has 3 light switches and the second one has three light bulbs. U can only enter the one with the light bulbs once. How do u deteremine which of the three light switches corresponds to three of the light bulbs in the second room |
You have to say something positive about u wanting new challenge blah blah blah plus u knowing for a fact that the skills/experience gained whilst working for so so and so will be best put to use for the new company because you belive they are a world leader in their field and their is room for further development. You can also add somethin like, you prefer to look at the package rather than the salary as you are more into the challenges the job has to offer. If you do get the job then it becomes a lot safer to negotiate salary as if they really like you, they will pay what u r worth |
I am interested as well. email addy is: ajibola_akande@yahoo.co.uk |
I am an analyst and pay in the UK based on experience is between £25K - £40K per annum |
wow wow wow. what an interesting thread. Arguments from different sides of the pond. Very insightful. My only addition is that some people will never change. all you have to do is just read their previous threads and you sure will get my gist. Attacking, justifying, forcefully changing people's mindset/opinions about religion is sure not the way. Everyone is their own individual and have a right to believe/worship whomsoever they find comfort/peace with or through. Ignorance should now be a thing of the past. |
@ busta def one of ur fans. u looking good though |

I have experienced the preaching on a london double decker bus before (offcourse by a naija man). Guess what, a white person complained and the driver had to get the guy off the bus. Peeps should spread the word/message through normal channel alas Church, mosque or own living room. |
beefing aside (which i surely do have for them as they are celebrated after lavishing the wealth of common citizens of naija), haven't heard anything about the humanitarian works of the co called rich kids. God help them |
Why don't you lot channel your energy towards finding a lasting solution to the annoyingly common occurrence of fighting for religion supremacy be it north south or west. No need to come online and start fighting over which is better or best. All the negative can be used to educate as well channelled towards good cause so wise up guys. Our well learned generation can surely contribute to future development of our nation. Religion should be a way of getting through to God |
if thru, dat will be very kool as I have been looking for ways in which all voices, opinions, debates can be better used to aid the continously failing democracy in the annoyingly disgrace country called Nigeria whereby common individuals are above law and innune from prosecution. |
real estate in countries yet to join the EU |
It's a scam as long as you didn't enter any competition. Ask yourself, why would a reputable company like chevrontexaco ask you for an upfront payment of 1.5K before they release your supposedly winnings. Dats definitely not rocket science broda |
enormous potential and without a doubt deserved to be mentioned as heir to "hand of God" himself. Brilliant, good attitude, skillful with loads of end product so what are u guys talking about. Far better than Ronnie at the moment and still improving which is frightening. Even fellow professionals are ear marking him out as a potential world player of the year in making. A very rare gem that without a doubt one day be mentioned in the same bracket with the likes of Pele, Madonna, platini etc. |
Not sure if it pays anymore |
Any other offers in the pipe line? if not, my advise will be to put the time spent browsing to good use by setting yourself a target of applying for at least five or even more relevant jobs each week. I am in a somewhat similar situation (job has sort of turn to routine), although the pay is very good and will even consider going for something that pays less but with a new challenge. |
@Biz Pls wats the average salary for an electrical/electronics engineer in Nigeria. I'm guessing you work in the field though. I am also from same background with an added masters degree in Information Engineering working as a systems analyst but highly interested in world of investment and financial market. |
@almondjoy Investing in our disgrunted police force to be able to enforce law and order for me is not the immediate solution as Nigeria with the current generation of greedy good for nothing citizens (fraudsters, politicians, etc)cannot be educated nor can they now be told to abide by the rule of law in our Great Nation. I still the solution lies within grassroot as I call it. Future generation as they need to be educated taugth how to be patriots and most imortantly instilling an undoubted love of our great nation inside them |
Why are people so anti-Islam on this website. I have not actually come across Muslims hijacking Christians threads. The thread was created for Islam believers to share their thoughts about d holy month so as to offer each other advice, comforts as well as needed prayer in the holy month. People should stop attacking eachother as well as forcefully trying to make thy neighbour convert by way of criticising and making one better than the other. |
A very clever/relevant thread as people only want to rant/complain and ridicule the very complex problem called Nigeria. I for one will tax the rich heavily and in turn spread the wealth I will re-introduce free education with good quality of well paid teachers Create manufacturing jobs for the masses (This will have to come from inviting well proven international companies to invest and an create necessary jobs for semi-skilled Nigerians) |
The Global Positioning System is a satellite based navigation system made up of a network of satellites placed into orbit. It should work in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, terrain and most importantly 24 hours a day. The satellites circle the earth twice a day in a very precise orbit and transmit signal information to earth. The GPS receivers (You should be able to buy in naij) take this information and use triangulation to calculate the user's exact location. Essentially, the GPS receiver compares the time a signal was transmitted by a satellite with the time it was received. The time difference tells the GPS receiver how far away the satellite is. Now, with distance measurements from a few more satellites, the receiver can determine the user's position and display it on the unit's electronic map. |
I totally agree with you but one thing to remember is that no matter one's religion or faith, there would always be people with fanatical ideology or reasoning to things. I stress once again, some people have fanatical ideas. i was actually close (i work in the city not far from liver-pool street bombs and was close to kings cross bombing as i was at a conference on the day) the July 7/7 bombings in London by the so called Muslims (They are fanatics as their actions doesn't necessarily mean all Muslims support them, I am a Muslim and i think it was a crime against humanity). Sadly, a colleague of mine at work (Christian) got caught up in the Melly but that didn't stop all the staff at my organisation to start in-fighting or better still start hate campaign against Muslims. Infact people have spent time undertanding why some (very small) Muslims choose such barbaric route. Nothing justifies actions but believe me teachings in Islam is all about peace, loving ones neighbour as oneself and most importantly appreciating basic humanity. |
It saddens me to see that in this day of age, people are still fighting over which religion is superior to the other. Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Scientology etc are all ways of getting through to God. Religion should be a way for people to achieve ones salvation no matter how you get their. An idea will be for people to give room and chance to understand each others religion (Don't mean forcefully convert or whatsoever). Views that all Muslims are devilish or following less-favourable ways is generally deemed as generalisation or better still madly incorrect. I live in a diverse society whereby all religions are supported and people with different faiths live in harmony. This my brothers and sisters should be the way forward. At the end of the day we are all God creation making us human beings which in turn mean we should discriminate either through religion race or ethnicity. Fair enough we have some fanatics but it is certainly the same all through each faith. Happy Ramadan to all those fasting |
