OLAN2015: My apologies for not giving the updates yesterday. Please for anyone applying for study permit, do note that proof of funds is not the only vital criteria. Proper arrangement of your documents is also highly sacrosanct. I recently heard from the International Student Advisory Unit of a Canadian university that the average time a Visa Officer spent on each application is about 6 mins. This means you have a very limited time in convincing the Visa Officer about your application in the midst of hundreds or thousands of applicants. Hence, do ensure to properly structure and present your application and documents in a concise, easily understandable and straightforward manner. I personally recommend using a table of contents so that every section of your application can be seen at a glance. Find below the similar structure I used for mine . I prefer separating my SOP from LOE. My view is that LOE should focus on just explaining the contents of one's application while SOP should focus on everything about oneself (background, course, future plans etc). Wishing you all the best by God's grace. Apt |

CanadaQueen: Please if I do affidavit of return do I need to notarize it? Also, do I still need a lawyer to write to tackle the refusal letter? Again, does gift deed need to be notarized or something? My mum is dedicating one of her houses for my use for NGO on my return from Canada, pls do I need to present the house documents as well?
URGENT! URGENT!! URGENT!!! You can take it to court for commissioner of oaths to attest to it for 500ngn or thereabouts or go to high court let those guys hustling there type it and also take it inside the court for stamping by d comm of oaths , with d stress and all dat dey wud charge u 1500 or so . If you have money for notarization just go to a notary public office and get it done der but a notary is always expensive , budget like 5k upward for a notary . Yes present the house your mom wanted to gift u for NGO purpose when u return , that’s a good a hometies , do a gift deed for that house too. For the gift deed of d property I think it’s cool u do that with a notary public officer cos they are lawyer I don’t think u really need a lawyer to tackle ur refusal , write a letter of explanation as to that effect urself , address all d reasons for d refusal and also show how u have made significant changes to tackle d reasons . Shalom ! |

CanadaQueen: I think gcms can only be requested by people in Canada or Canadian citizens/PR. Its just $5.
Maybe that's why you couldn't process it. My thoughts though No .. anyone can request for it .. I requested for mine twice for free on ATIP https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do Follow all the instructions and processes . Choose cbsa gcms instead of ircc gcms cos cbsa delivers note in less dan 30days Can u see dat foreign nationals outside Canada can request but it’s privacy act only

Christyiji: Go to any high Court and notarize ur affidavit of return. It is N500. Do not ask them how much it is if not they will cheat you. Stamped by commissioner for oaths is what you get at high court , notarization is only done by notary public and it’s not 500 .. it ranges from 5k upward |

joefit4gur: Got PPR on the 19th after two refusals.
First application: Nov. 5, 2022; POF document (38 Pages) Presented funds for only first year tuition / living expenses, explained I make enough to have the funds for the second year before school resumes in September. Came back refused Jan. 31st (Two reasons: Insufficient finance and assets / full tuition unpaid).
I listed source of funds as my B2B business and crypto. I gave mostly written statements about my income and not much or rather not enough evidence to back up these statements, hence the refusal.
Ordered GCMS, VO had concerns with:
Lump sums - Starting balance was 900K, sold digital assets within a month and topped up to 10.9M, VO was concerned about this, especially when they did not understand the source.
Source of funds - No payslips, no tax income slip, not enough evidence of work, salaries etc.
Tuition Payment: - VO suggested to make full first year tuition.
Second application: March 15th, 2023: POF document (44 Pages)
Before first refusal came, I had spent 70% of POF in December on iPhones to be sold, instead of the funds to just be in the account. (How naive of me to think my first application was perfect and no refusal in sight). I had to reluctantly sell more of my digital currencies . I also paid full first year tuition as suggested by VO.
Presented funds for two years tuition / living expenses plus misc, provided detailed information about the digital currency and the trail of funds from blockchain to tradfi account. Did not provide much info regarding B2B offline business (Thought since majority of POF came from crypto, there wasn’t much use for info about my offline business). Application came back refused March 21st (One reason - Insufficient finance and assets). Ordered GCMS, it has not arrived till date.
Third application: April 4th, 2023; PPR April 19th. POF document (243 pages!) Mo fun won tan!
Was expecting to receive GCMS for second application on April 25th. But I couldn’t wait because of time constraints. I made two deductions from the refusal, either IRCC does not accept funds from crypto as POF or my application needs to be substantiated with a legal business profile.
I did a lot of tinkering here, did extensive research on if taxes were mandatory to get an application approved and confirmed that it only helps to prove that the company exists and makes enough money legally. I asked a tax consultant for my estimated tax (Omo! Wahala Wahala Wahala).
So I looked for ways to prove that my company exists and makes enough money legally. I provided payment dashboard from all payment processors showing how much company has received in payments since inception. Showed partner onboarding, funding payments, supplier details etc. Provided Skype support group screenshots, history of transactions, one year bank statement confirming the inflow from all payment processors, and lastly (na this one hard pass), I became an accountant LOL. Researched how to create a profit and loss statement, income statement etc. Used records in my book-keeping to create an income statement, showing the monthly earnings. Added an affidavit of return, juggled my SOP (More formal and maintained consistency), added a church recommendation / ambassadorship certificate.
Bumped up my living expenses from $10KCAD to $15KCAD
To be honest, the third application was to test and to know on time if taxes were mandatory to get an application approved, I knew for sure if the application came back refused, I would need to settle taxes and re-apply. Halleluyah! It came back with PPR. Stamped passport is on its way back to me via courier! LOI has dropped too. Winnipeg ya!
I thank bobomaigida, bullstriker, johnstan, olokings (proper ginger man), thesoj, halima for their inputs! Goodluck to everyone applying, it will end in praise! Congrats bro |

But I did not do the PCC sha, since it was optional. If you want, quote this and I'll respond with his contact. I checked online and discover that it was FG that increased the fee from 5k to 40k… yeah the pcc is optional but ppl that go thru agent always do it . I think that affidavit of return is what i would consider. Nevertheless, giv me the contact of the person that does it for 35k , maybe he knows how to bypass the new increased fee |

I think I agree with you in some of the other issues you have raised above. Again, please how do I order for my GCMS notes? What's the procedure please? https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/requesterInformationYou can apply free via the link .. choose privacy act option cos a foreign national outside of Canada can only be eligible to make a request under privacy act only. Also Canada border service agency as department you would like to request info from .. cos cbsa processes d gcms notes faster than ircc , with cbsa u can get ur notes on or before 30days |

Ucy12: Hi Nairalanders! Good News to many who had refusals and want to apply for GCMS notes but are having some issues.
I applied FREE OF CHARGE on the 12th of December 2022 and my notes dropped TODAY, 4th February 2023 ( a month and three weeks). I actually did searches online and got the ATIP-AIPRP online request on the Canadian government website. It has two types of request: Access to Information Act and Privacy Act. Access to Information Act costs $5CAD; but PRIVACY ACT is FREE. Go through Privacy Act and order your GCMS notes for free! This is the link to the website:
https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do
Wishing everyone all the best!
*My next post will be about my refusal and what my GCMS notes say. Please, help in contributing so I can successfully fire back. Thank you all! Choosing the Canada border service agency (cbsa) option is faster than gcms .. for those who wana do this privacy act thing just choose cbsa option and u will get ur note in 3-4weeks time |

Frankrobbn1: It's nice to be here again. Happy New Year to Everyone! I'm rooting for everyone and wishing you all a promising and fruitful year in 2023.
@jaydave, I'll attempt your question, your spouse can have the entire funds in his bank account. The amount involved will be contingent on the family size. Is he applying alone? And/or How many kids do you've?
Applying alone : he should show 10M in his account.
Applying with kids: 16M and above.
It will end in praise Thanks for the response He’s my friend and his wife is studying in Canada presently . And yes he’s applying alone . So you mean he can have the fund in his account alone , it’s not compulsory his wife also acts as co sponsor ? |
