Thanks for your response..

What are my chances
Because am going to be a first time applicant to the Canadain embassy
I have gone through all the requirements, as a salary earner and been single girl what extra documents can I use to to support my application
Good morning. It's good to be a salary earner. The amount you earn as salary and long term prospects at your job are also considered.

As for extra documents, do you have a tax payment document like tax clearance certificate? Not only does it show you as a responsible citizen, it also summarises your annual income for the past three years. It is good if your payslip reflects your tax but it is better when you have proper tax documentation.

@Bummi101
Have you used the getting started link below? The questionnaire will generate the list of documents to submit. Paper application is known to be faster than online application. Remember to hover over "i" for more information on list of documents to submit:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/getting-started.asp

Please Use this guide to fill the forms and cross check if you have all the required forms:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5256ETOC.asp

Please read the guides used by the visa officers assess your application if you haven't done so already:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/processing/admissibility.asp
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/intake/proof.asp

Your certificates and CV are really not necessary for a Visitors visa. Focus more on official documents that show your career progression.

"Assets" is grouped together with "financial status" in refusal letters. Together they give an idea of your net worth. Assets are also a tie to your home country. Other ties are financial obligations, responsibilities, travel history, and family. Your statement of account speaks volumes of your obligations or responsibilities and can be used to assess you.

Hello my people please can you guys tell me how to go about getting or changing date at the US website. Trying to apply for visa for an infant, the parents already have visas. Got a date in January but they would like an earlier date.
Hope you found the answer to your question? As for US visa threads, there's actually more than one and you shouldn't be scared of playing with new kids. wink

I got the letter today. PURPOSE OF VISIT was ticked as the reason for rejection. Remember my husband resides in Canada. I am positive and I am coming back here to share the good news. My appeal is still on.
You have a good opportunity that most people don't have. Your husband is in Canada. You can request GCMS notes to know the current stage of your appeal. You can also find out detailed reasons for both refusals. All for $5 CAD per information request.

When they deny visa, I think they tick the reason (among the list of reasons for denial) in the refusal letter they give. In my case, there is nothing like that o. Wetin I do?
Jayfierce, Awelekiti, Bigfide, Nam16, and my every other family members in the house, your responses are needed.
Am puzzled. You didn't get a refusal letter? Or you got one and nothing was ticked?

Am travelling as a Tourist, am staying for 15days,i will be visiting quebec the freach speaking part of canada because i often travel to france, i am the CEO of my business and i presently have 5 staff that work for me, my length of stay can never affect my business i travel often to france and south Africa, i have been out of the country twice this year, i choose it because i speak french and i like to visit the french speaking part of Canada.

By the way, which one is GCMS isnt it the refusal letter on my CIC Account? clarification needed.
Good answers. What documents did you submit in support of these answers?

IRCC uses Global Case Management System(GCMS) to store information. The details of your refusal can be found in the GCMS notes.

in the refusal letter the purpose of visit was the only thing marked....am wondering what they meant by purpose of visit? Can expert in the house put some clarification on it?...i submitted all the required document with a gtb bank statement, travel history to shengen, and paid hotel reservation which passed the day of their decision and flight reservation...i own my company and have two kids...what else do they want? help needed...thanks.
I recommend getting the GCMS notes. Meanwhile we can still help you along the path of self evaluation:

Why are you travelling: Tourist, conference, medical etc?
How long are you staying?
Do you have an itinerary for your stay in Canada?
What happens to your business while you are away? Will the length of the Vacation affect the business? Have you taken several vacations in the year?
Why did you chose that location for a visit?

This forum has been so helpful thanks everyone
.please I intend to apply for a tourist visa with my 2kids.1 is American citizen.how best can I go about it.would want to do so this year.heard it will be so difficult from January. Here are my worries.
1 I have a company name is just registerd. Since its too fresh can I use it?I'm into events planning and boutique services,my former office was a small one with no payslip,so I don't know how I can go about the payslip thing.that's why I want to apply as a business woman, again.I intend printing my statement of account which is reasonable though and I intended depositing about 3m before printing my statement of account. Must the cash be in my account during the processing period.cos I promised to return the money after 2 day's. After printing the statement. A lot to ask.help a confused sis. Do I still need a sponsors account.which is my hubby?I have a landed document in my maiden name.I have been to dubai twice.and America twice.with a current American visa, how else do I package myself,is online faster? And better?and please how long does it take. I have my marriage certificate.do i still need to apply through an agent? Thanks and GOD bless us all?
First of all you need to work on your psychology about this January 2017 story. Don't apply in haste and get disappointed because of lack of proper preparation. More haste, less speed.

Truthfullly, I do not believe that the embassy can request for a more recent account statement directly from the bank. However, please do not lie about your source of funds. They have their way of finding out such misrepresentation. They can ask you to get a more recent statement of account or deny your application all altogether. Suffice it to say it would be unwise to lodge cash without explanation and verifiable proof.

Your job, travel history, landed property(though in your maiden name), and marriage, all count as good ties and your husband can also be your sponsor. Be ready with verifiable documentation. Paper application has proven to be faster. Please avoid using any agents. Thank you.

Thank you for your response.
Most of us May 2016 applicants have gotten feedback from IRCC. The case enquiry should work. Please verify you submitted the correct details.

@Everyone, please do we still have any other May 2016 applicants still waiting on a decision in the house?

Myself and my wife are first time applicants, we did paper route and and got our passports back yesterday just after almost 4wks with 1 year approved visa each. How I wish for more as our passports still have validity of up to 3 and 4 years respectively. I'm sure they have their reason for the decision and I'm taking nothing for granted, I thank God.
I was honestly scared about that Expedia issue. I really thank God for everything. Congrats sir!

@ Everyone. I mistakenly skipped some documents I listed for Travel history. I included all hotel bookings from booking.com. I included all email confirmations for flights bookings. As overkill, I included GTB transaction receipts.
For Proof of funds I didn't list an annual payment sheet summary from my company.

Apologies for that.

Thanks for the response. I have sought professional help from an immigration lawyer to pick holes in my application and also requested for the GCMS notes.

I was a bit furious when I typed the note so apologies for my strong language. But you can always trust Nigerians to respond with their "I am better than you" cap than profer solutions to the issues.

1. There is nothing wrong with inviting your spouse to visit or live with you if you are either a student or foreign worker. Nobody mentioned having any rights. Countless number of folks have done it even while we were in school.

2. My wife is included in my PR application to the Federal government as a provincial nominee so no need for additional filing when that comes in

3. I only mentioned my salary to put into context the financial conditions under which we applied for the visa. I am not contesting how much anyone else makes or whether they have global citizenship

4. Implying that a visiting visa is not a proper way is wrong. It is only a two-step way rather than outrightly applying for a Spouse Open Work Permit (SOWP). My wife had a job at the time. The intention was to visit and if she finds opportunities in the city where I live, she will resign and apply for a work permit within Canada.

5. Why am I in such a rush? We have been married for over one year. I do not think it is out of line to ask for your new wife to visit you. Or, is there a timeline to applying for a spouse after marriage.

6. When you say they are not idiots. Nobody said they are. I do not believe a wife visiting her husband legally working in another country is implying that the immigration officers are idiots.

Nonetheless, thanks a lot for your response.
Lol. You remind me of me when I am slightly irritated or having a brain storm. You've taken the correct steps by requesting for help and the GCMS Notes. Good luck.

@jayfierce, you mean its possible to request gcms notes even after getting application approved. Please enlighten me.
Definitely! The main terminology is Access to Information. You can get information from various departments in Canada such as IRCC, border services agency, justice department, finance department, etc.

Now, IRCC stores information using the Global Case Management System(GCMS). Access to this information is not dependent on the approval or refusal of the application.

Awelekiti, Nam16, derbyy abi na suredebee.....did I miss out any other moniker?

Nam16, congratulations on having travelled to 192 countries. You are upset because I didn't celebrate you, our very own Nigerian who has broken the Guinness book of records. Am sorry. God bless your efforts!

Awelekiti, congratulations on having 45 global visas. Please note again that I wasn't the one that pointed out that you asked an applicant to lie. It was a moderator please. I only commented after you kept insisting on defending the wrong path.

Free life and forum tips for you my friend:
1. Avoid being temperamental. People must criticise you. They criticise harder when you suggest falsehood and illegality.
2. Apply the principle of conflict resolution to avoid escalation.
3. Always leave yourself room to retract your words. Simply apologise when you are wrong.
4. Information is constantly evolving. You shouldn't rely on outdated experience.
5. Keep It Short & Simple(KISS). I am guilty of this sometimes but I don't do it telling people how wonderful and well made I am. Leave your biography outside your answers.
awelekiti:
I've been called names here in the past but I'm not moved by that because many of them are old enough to be the least staff under my payroll and that's a fact.
Finally, you don't really know anyone here so why did you say this? You don't know if someone here can pay your salary. I forgive you. kiss

By the way, I do read that foreign missions/embassies share information with each other, e.g. Canada/USA. How true is this? Is it legal? I am just asking though.
Good morning sir. Yes they do and It's legal because you agreed/signed that they can share information on your application with other bodies.
RedReact:

For discussion/clarification sake, what serve(s) as home tie?
From the Visa officers guide notes:

Ties to Canada or country of residence
3. What ties do you have with Canada?

Things to consider:

Who invited the person to Canada? Is there proof of an invitation?
Does the person have family in Canada? If so, what is their immigration status in Canada?

4. What ties do you have with your country of residence?

Things to consider:

Is the person employed? If yes, at what salary? In what position? Has the applicant's employer approved a request for leave?
What family does the person have in the country of residence? Where were they at the time of the application?
Does the person have property? What is the value of the property?
What financial obligations is the person leaving behind? What is the nature and value of these obligations?
What other responsibilities and obligations is the person leaving behind? How will they be discharged?
Is travel consistent with local customs or practices? Has the person travelled before?

Additional information: Even if the person’s ties to the home country seem to be strong, there may be other factors in the general economic or political environment which make the long-term prospects for the person or their family unstable. Consider these factors in the assessment.

@geotherm. Been smiling about your comment about my name. Really amusing. Nice points though. However, the %10 you refer to as "wrong" is actually beyond "wrong" sir. It is simply illegal and we condemn illegality in the strongest terms sir. The world reads this forum and we can't afford to pat illegality softly.

All I desire is simply to advise according to the rules whether it is Nairaland or IRCC. For goodness sake, please name any that embassy accepts extra documents after you've submitted your application? I wonder what an IRCC Officer would say if he reads that. He may just smile and say "Nigerians again. Wonderful people"

You are right though about the beef, just not about the person. I've got a beef against anyone who makes us look stupid in the eyes of the world. Against anyone who makes us look as if we like to "conceal" or do anything to get a visa. I am passionate about it and even harsh, but it's who I am and what I stand for.

But my advice never suggested any form of lies here. She's a single lady who's planning to visit her 'boyfriend' who had also gone to visit her while she was in US, from Canada... she doesn't have to state in clear terms to anybody to know who the guy is. Thank you.
Are you serious? She should call her boyfriend her fiancé? Are the two the same? What evidence will she present apart from visitation Awelekiti? Is visitation a proof of engagement? Do you think IRCC won't sniff out that misrepresentation?

Sometimes not everyone passes IRCC requirements to go Canada on a visit visa and that's the truth. Let's tell people the truth on this thread please and save their money.

@demidabbs, Even if your sponsor has double Citizenship, he can not deliver you from the scrutiny of IRCC on your home ties. Take your time to prepare yourself and build your ties. DO NOT LIE that he is your fiance please.

Hi everyone
Pls when is the best time for me to apply for visa if i want to travel middle of January?

Also, i was in the US for 5 months this year on a visit visa (i can work from anywhere in the world) At POE in the US i said i was staying for 2 weeks and ended up staying for 5 months (very long story) Please do you think this would affect my application?

I still have a valid US visa and i have been to the UK and UAE for travel history
Someone just asked a similar question on the best time to apply. Please kindly read a few steps back.

I have to be straightforward with you as per your 5 months visit, it may bring questions as to why you stayed that long on a visit and your job actually doesn't show strong ties to your home country. Assets, family, and other businesses are other ways to show strong ties.

I used to believe that having a US visa or extensive travel history gives an easy Canadian Visa. That's a misconception. Please prepare.
