please I collected my passport this morning and there is this slip inside it. I have checked my email no email from them except the one for my biometrics. Please does it mean I have been banned?

From what I researched, the mail comes after some days. Seems majority of those who experienced this got a refusal. sad.

I’m yet to renew my U.S visa.
I didn’t really add anymore ‘ties’ to my application.
I’m planning to re apply and provide more family/personal details such as; assets , properties, husband’s company etc.

I’m just worried that listing my family business as an employment in my new application may be conflicting with my old application (I only ticked studying).
What are the chances of getting an approval on if I reapply with strong employment and family ties. Another rejection isn’t worth it for me.
Yes your new application will conflict with the previous one. You would have to explain why you didn't include the fact that you are gainfully employed.

On your purpose of visit, I think you should state childbirth.

Okay, thanks.
No he didn’t.
I was at school in the UK then and had my visa already (applied in London).
He applied to go for a Conference and was given the generic blue paper.
I think you should apply alone. You almost got it this time around. Let's sort that out first of all. He can always apply later.

Amen.
Thank you for your in-depth analysis and bringing this to my knowledge.
I was oblivious of this( the address).

I am currently searching for other hospitals.
Is it safe to use a hospital in the same state( Like Memorial Hermann), as I have made some prepayments to my gynecologist who consults with this hospital?

Secondly, would it be advisable to apply with my DH( He has a fair travel history because the nature of his job doesn’t afford him time to and hasn’t been to the US before as he was denied )?

Thanks again, I appreciate.
The state doesn't matter except in the area of cost. If you can avoid discounts it will help a lot with your next application. You can tell the hospital to give you the price without any discounts.

Why was hubby denied? Did he apply to go with you on your previous trip?

Ah, And I was thinking that's fair enough, as adding doctor's cost and other bills will take it to well over 10k just for a VD. Please can you suggest cost that will be fine for the embassy? I mean excluding all other charges? Thanks a lot!
The problem starts with the itemized bill. If they are going to give you an itemized bill that shows you paid exactly what you are billed then no wahala.

If your itemized bill carries 20k and you paid 10k then you may have a problem.

Apparently.
Thanks for your response.
No. I used American address for American Birth Certificate.
I am hopeful that you get the Visa at the next try. You need a different hospital and one with a higher amount and not under their radar.

Also you shouldn't use your American address when filling those documents except for mail delivery. It makes the Visa Officers believe that you used public funds. This has been discussed extensively on this thread.

Goodluck.

Same hospital, same Doctor ( Oakbend)
Total medical bill new hospital: About $12,000 for a Caesarean section.
I think they have issues with Oakbend from the transcripts I see here. I also think they don't want any form of discounts anymore. Straight up full payment.

I got a question for you though. Did you use your Nigerian address in the birth certificate of your baby?

I have been a silent reader of this page, applied for US visa but was denied based on the last bill I received after I had my princess in 2015. I reluctantly applied for TRV, submitted on the 26th, biometric message received on the 27th , biometrics done on the 29th. Visa approved today, 14th February. I am heading to Edmonton by first week for in March.
Congratulations. Did you declare for birthing?

The discount is available to all self-paying patients regardless of where they reside (local or international) or those who have medical insurance who are unable to afford their high deductible and would rather pay cash. Neither Medicaid or any kind of govt subsidy is used to offset the patients' financial obligations.

Patients with private health insurance are billed differently since the insurance companies negotiate with hospitals what they will pay (they do not pay the amount that you see on the bill). The price they pay as well as what Medicaid is about the same price that is given as a discount (or even less). This has been posted before. The best weapon during your interview is to be informed. The Embassy knows this, you just have to have the correct answers when they are asking questions.
Both category of patients are billed say $22,000, but the self-pay is given a discount of roughly 75%. That $22,000 still appears on the bill for the self-pay patient making it look ridiculous.

I understand that you've said that the insurance companies dont even pay the $22,000 that they are billed but only a fraction. However the US govt doesn't believe that we the self-pay are entitled to same fractional payment. Maybe because most of the insured are on a longer term contribution to the economy of the US than the short term visitors.

I've told you before that the highest I got for using a type of medical service in the US was 50% for paying cash. Applying 50% to a bill of $22,000 would bring the cost of birthing to $11,000. This has been the average "LET MY PEOPLE GO" mark for Visa officers.

I commend health care providers that are ready to give the non-discounted package to patients who request for it. I would have said a 25% discount was okay but I think the US is ramping up for full payment in the long run.

This might be your experience but doesn't apply to everyone. For most people, a balance of N300k might not show sufficient ability to afford a trip to Canada. Submitting a statement with $30k does not jeopardize your chances as long as it is in line with your bank cash flow over a period and in line with your indicated source of income.

The key is to keep it honest and consistent

Good luck everyone and thanks for all the info being shared
Well said. I applied with over $40,000 in my account. Those were the funds available and I wrote it like that.

Hello all.

I have investments in Stanbic and AXA. Someone here once said he noticed a drop in his interest on Stanbic and had to complain to customer care before it was reversed. I dont monitor my account daily, if something like that happens to my account, I won't know. Just thinking of probably closing it and investing in another.

I also did a little calculation on the interest AXA paid in the last quarter (January), it was 9.12%. Isn't that ridiculous?

Conclusion - I may just take my money out and go back to treasury bills.
I once had similar issues with Stanbic. Interest wasn't added for more two days and it wasn't weekend. They fixed it though.

I agree with you on the ambiguity of the money market system. Treasury bills seems like a nice option but what are the charges?

For money market funds that I know about of which I have account with them (fbnquest, stanbic and mansard), the minimum holding period is 30days. Anytime after 30 days, you will be free to withdraw your money either in part or full without any charges.
As at Friday,
FBNquest: 13.66%
Mansard : 13.46%
I don't trust stanbic rate bcoz they credit a little below their displayed rate.
Based on this, these money market funds suit your taste
I saw that AXA charges 1.25% as management fee per annum. Is this on interest or capital or both?

Here's my third POE transcript. Flew Delta Airlines Economy Comfort+. Best decision I've ever taken because of my long legs and flight distance to Texas. Was hoping to use the self help kiosk at Atlanta airport but I was directed to join the queue. The queue was really long and I am sure I spent almost an hour there before it got to my turn:

Me: Good morning.

CBP: Good morning. Passport please.

CBP: Where are we heading to?

Me: Mentioned somewhere in Texas.

CBP: Slightly shocked look on face with a slight smile: "Who lives there"? He said almost throwing his hands up in mock amazement.

Me: Going to visit my Sister and wife. Wifey just put to birth and I am going to see our baby.

CBP: Okay. How long are you staying?

Me: Just 8 days because I need to get back to work.

CBP: Oh? What do you do?

Me: I work as a....with.....
.
CBP: Nods. How much do you have with you?

Me: $200 in cash and......

CBP: **Stamps my passport while I was talking and I didn't get to finish.**

CBP: Hands my passport back to me: "Have a great day sir."

Me: Takes my passport. Takes a step away from his desk and turns back to him with a confused look on my face as my biometrics were not taken.

Me: "Sir, what about this?". Pointing to the biometrics machine

CBP: Looks straight at me without smiling: " You are good to go sir."

Me: Thanked him and quickly left his cubicle before I begin to create unnecessary suspicion.

Picked up my bags and one of those small dogs that sniff bags came and wouldn't leave my bag for about 30secs. I was scared that he was going to send me to secondary inspection. The officer smiled and pulled him away. I smiled back and headed to my interconnecting flight. No agric and no extra questions from any of the officers I passed.

2nd leg of flight was delayed a little and Delta tried to make up by loading us with snacks once we boarded. Asked for a sugar free drink and the hostess tried to pull my legs by asking me if I truly believed any of those drinks are sugar free. Like how can something taste so sweet and still have no sugar. Lol. Had a nice time. Economy Comfort+ is Bae.

Thanks. Can you explain how to increase redemption limit? And how to initiate transfer within Money Market Fund account with StanbicIBTC?
You can increase it via online. You can use gift to transfer your funds to another person on the same platform

12.16% is for 365 days/1 year
Your interest for one day is going to be 12.16/365 = 0.033%
Since you started with 100,000 you should expect 100,000 * 0.033/100 = 33naira. Thus, you should expect about 33 naira everyday at the current rate of 12.16%. If the rates go up, you will get more, if the rates go down, you will get less.
Yem0350:
1. Good customer service
2. Better rate
3. Fast redemption
I am almost convinced to dump Stanbic. I need better rate and excellent customer service.

Thanks. But they stated 2m, see attached.

Can i also ask this: Can i transfer money from my Stanbic Mutual Funds to someone else Stanbic Mutual Funds? If its possible then how long does it takes?
You can do up to 2.5m if you increase your online redemption limit. You can gift your mutual funds to someone else.

It is important that all patients understand how the self-pay packages work since it seems that Visa Officers are either clueless or ill-informed. The discount packages offered by doctors and hospitals is in itself not a discounted payment that the Hospitals and patients receive. It is, in fact, the same amount that Medic-aid and Insurance providers pay the hospitals and doctors. Even though doctors and hospitals charge an excessive amount to insurance companies, and Medic-Aid, these only pay a fraction of the amount billed and no govt funds are used to offset these bills since they are not only not a loss but paid in full upon arrival, unlike US citizens with insurance. For US patients doctors must submit insurance or Medic-Aid documentation which takes time to process and later receive the payment which takes about 1-2 months process.

Patients should have knowledge of this information and hopefully, have some kind of document that states this at the moment of their interview. As it is, www.doctoresparati.com (ad on every page of this forum) sends a price schedule with this information included as part of the documentation sent for Visa application and POE.

Then the hospital should bill the self pay patients in such a way that they won't get into trouble.

I've used other types of medical services in the US. Highest I got was a 50% discount for paying cash. This seems more believable than almost 90% for birthing. I don't mean to be condescending but that sort discount is only reasonable for garage sales and store giveaways.

Our people are getting into trouble daily at the Embassy because of this and I believe there has to be a way out that would result in a win-win situation for all the parties involved.

Thanks for the feedback and happy birthday. Please like how much on the average do you have on the personal bank statements for two of you.
My monthly salary is less than 200k, my wife own is around 300k even though I earn more than her per annum, I receive bulk payments and plenty allowances from time to time. The missionary trip will be co-founded by the two of us and most of the money is on Mutual Funds investment. Or should I liquidate the investment and have the money seating pretty in our accounts? Cos with constant transfer to save money in mutual funds, there is hardly anything on our personal accounts.

Thank you.
All the money we had was in mutual funds. She got the Visa. However you can go ahead and liquidate if that makes you more comfortable.

I really don't see how increasing the top up to 5m can cause me to celebrate. Some people have already been topping up with that amount long before they made that announcement.

I would rather celebrate an increase in interest rates. I could also celebrate if Stanbic decided to reward loyal customers. It won't kill them to spend a little to say thank you.

Are you saying that they might have contacted the Canada embassy before or during they guy US interview to know he has applied for Canada before them? This info was share here when you read this thread all you will see it, meanwhile I'm not saying if you were denied Canada it will affect your US visa but it might affect it only when you give different info on both applications definitely U.S. embassy will lnow during your intervew. I also discovered it during my last US intervew the VO will not tell you but will work with the info and you will not know. we are here to learn
I agree with you as regards database access. Points from the US-CANADA information sharing agreement:

1.EMPHASIZING that it is critically important to have timely access to current and accurate Information to inform inadmissibility assessments or other immigration-related determinations that are vital to their common security.

2. The Parties shall provide each other with Query access to the data described in the non-legally binding implementing arrangements.

Now query access could mean sending a mail or calling to get information. It could also mean having a certain basic level of access to each others database. Does the latter definition make sense and is it justifiable? Yes. They share a border and this can really help in terms of security for both countries as they both have timely access to information.

Untrue
The only way they would know that person had applied for Canada visa is if they had contact the Canadian consulate to inquire.
Otherwise, the US doesn't have access to any other country database.
