Did anyone notice the human Trafficking prevention and female genital mutilation on the ds-160 form?
Yes. I was like kilode. Had to recheck my answers to the security questions. I guess it's the new norm.

My wifey is a smart woman. I told her interview is not just about smartness but preparedness. I even told her what to say if same question is asked but she said she was nervous and a bit lost. All The same thanks to the gurus in the house.
Sorry about your refusal. This is almost similar to our own experience. The VO requesting for your account statement in the middle of the interview showed that she was warming up for the pregnancy question. You shouldn't be so hard on your wife. Even if she said no it still wasn't a guarantee especially if you guys actually planned to give birth later but you aren't ready now. I believe the VO would see through her answer and still refuse your application.

When I coached my wife I did so with the truth. I explained to her that she'd be more confident defending the truth. Just like you guys, we went over several questions most of which shocked her and sometimes she'd forget that I am the VO and she is the applicant. She'd then get angry for asking her those type of questions. Sometimes she'd respond like: Excuse me! Those are personal questions!

On one interview session I asked her about the cost of giving birth she said: 10k because she expected to stay with my sister which is a very wrong assumption. I was a bit upset because she's a very smart woman and we researched together. She just kept improvising instead of just answering the questions straightforwardly.

We also decided that the best option was for her to go alone so that I don't terrorize her with winks and side glances. She did very well. Even personal questions from the VO didn't shock her. She was even the one answering some questions thrown at me when we arrived POE. I just went dumb.

Good luck in your next application.

I think it's a good idea to move the elections up.

Yes. Travel history section was also N/A while preparing DW's application but it still came up at the interview.

I have a US valid visa that expires in June 8, 2018,im planning to travel in April for 2 weeks but I have a 2month old Daughter that I'm taking with me who does not have a visa which I'm planning to apply for her. Now,my question is that my visa validity might reduce to 2 month after taking her for an interview.Should I renew my visa also?would I be allow to enter with just 2month valid visa?
Yes you can get in with a two month valid Visa. The officer @ POE determines your length of stay.

Coincidentally my Visa expires in two months time. Upon entry this January I was stamped in for stay till July.

wow, you're highly favored.

I guess what did the trick is the high respect they have for their men and women in service to the country.

all the best
I don't agree with this. High respect for US military personnel isn't a tie. Especially when the particular person is your cousin and not an immediate family member.

I am discouraging this because unscrupulous characters on this forum will codedly start promising applicants with "assured" links to US military personnel that will pose as "cousins" in order for them to get their Visa.

For our POE experience, we flew Delta to Texas via Atlanta. The flight was quite long but also enjoyable. The only beef I had with them was that they refused checking in our palm oil. DW had to donate it to a willing and cheerful recipient.

At the boarding gate, there was a little boy of about 3 years who dashed us one piece each of his caramel popcorn. Was impressed by his generosity to strangers but whenever I stopped toying with my phone to look at him he would scream "no more!" It became apparent he thought we were begging him by looking at him. I tried to explain to him that we don't want any more and he seemed pacified.

Upon arrival at Atlanta we were hurriedly ushered into the the line. Which was quite long. We stood on the line for almost an hour. We kept hearing "Escort To XX". The passport of the traveler will be placed in a transparent folder and handed to the escort. Two of una go Waka together commot.

An extra CBP officer resumed and it made the line go faster. We landed on the freshly resumed Officer:

US: Good morning
CBPO: Good morning. *stretches out hand to receive our passports*
CBPO: Where is your final destination in the United states?
ME: Texas
CBPO: Who lives in Texas?
ME: We will be visiting my sister.
CBPO: When last did you visit Texas?
ME: *Slight brain fog so turns to wifey* Probably the cold got to my head.
DW: About two years ago.
CBPO: And how long did you stay the last time?
ME: 3 Weeks.
CBPO: And how long are you staying this time.
ME: 3 weeks and 3 days.
CBPO: Did you bring any food?
ME: *Turns to wifey again*
DW: Vegetables. Garri. Beans.
ME: Basically our local food items.
CBPO: Turns to DW and asks her to place her fingers on the scanner. Stamps her passport. Then asks me to do same and stamps mine.
CBPO: Enjoy your vacation.
US: Thank you!

Retrieved our bags and headed towards Delta Air kiosk to check in our bags. One of the ladies picked one bag up and screamed about the weight while laughing. The other asked, in American accent, if we've got foofoo in the bag. We laughed and said no. She shook her disapprovingly and said ya'll better come with some foofoo next time ya hear me? We said okay o.

Headed to security check in and met the same 3 year old boy on the queue with his parents. He pointed at me and started saying things I couldn't comprehend. His mum asked me to quickly get behind him so that he would calm down upon losing sight of me.

At our destination the cab driver complained that where we were headed was quite close to the airport and that he's been waiting for hours only to land an $8 trip. Went on about how he was going to survive with $8 a trip. I was like oga, nor be awa fault o. We sha dashed him extra $7 so that he can join our happiness to have finally arrived safely after a long flight.

are there no good agents? it seems you guys here have something personal against agents.

I strongly subscribe to DIY, and I also know that not everyone will have to time or inclination to do that.

it's all about business. you see a need, you fulfill it and get paid for your services. that's not a bad thing.

a lot of big companies also make use of agents.
Speaking for myself, I have personal beef against agents. One of them scammed my sister-in-law of 500k many years ago. Hadn't come into her family then but I have added it to my beef list.

Most agents thrive on falsehood and sweet talking. They usually give the impression that your visa is assured and make you pay exorbitant amounts for this assurance. Assurance that is not backed up with action because the loss is borne by the client.

Most agents are just glorified gamblers.

Sorry about the refusal. I dont know what you indicated as your income on your DS-160 because the main questions seemed to revolve around finance. I am guessing that the VO was trying to get an idea of your wife's income and probably wondering why she isn't supporting the trip since she also works.

Also you earlier mentioned that your intended trip was two days after your interview. I don't know if you filled a new DS-160 with a new travel date.

You could also travel out to another country for this Vacation and get the travel experience. Good luck.

Compliments of the season to the entire house. DW's visa status has been on Administrative Processing since the day of her interview on 15th Dec 17. Case was updated on 22nd Dec 17 but status was still AP.

Thanks to God, her status has been finally updated as ISUSUED today the 27th.

I cannot count hours spent on this thread reading and preparing. There's almost no question asked by the VO's that we didn't see here. Thanks to all who took out time to post transcripts even when they weren't successful in their application. Their mistakes helped someone else not to make the same mistake. Also thanks to all who take out time to analyze transcripts and questions. We are deeply grateful.

Wishing everyone a prosperous 2018!

I really need to go to USA
Like I said, 700k is not my budget but what I have in cash now.. I am budgeting 1.2m for it and I would take d opportunity to write TOFL within the period I will be staying there.

I can't stay in USA bro. Its Arab countries that turn me on.
You can actually write TOEFL in Dubai. From all you've said so far it would be a perfect vacation destination for you.

Except there's another reason why you really need to go to the US.

Vacation is not only made for Bankers or those big company workers, we should all have an equal share of the vacation na.

Beside, I am also a farmer and masters degree student.

Being the only son should av convinced you that I will definitely come back.
I think what LadyG and others are trying to say is that you could go on vacation to somewhere close by that wouldn't put much strain on your pocket.

Hello Bro, I would like to know if wifey used her passport that she had when she was single or she used the one bearing your name.

My wife is going for an interview soon and I have been to the US twice without ever over staying but we haven't changed her passport to my surname. Kindly advice
Hello sir. She used a new passport bearing my name. I was told she could use the passport in her maiden name but the Visa issued will also be in her maiden name.

Congrats and enjoy your trip when the time comes.
Lol. Nor be only you the matter confuse. We've been analyzing everything and DW pointed out something I overlooked:

DW and I visited Dubai a few months back before we got married. The Nigerian immigration officer stamped my entry from Dubai adjacent the US visa sticker much to my annoyance. This could be the reason why the VO asked for the US visa more than once and asked how many times I've been to the US. It could also be why it generated a new set of personal questions after she took a second look. Like where did you meet him? When did you get married? When did you get engaged?

DW's passport and responses would have confirmed to the VO that we traveled to Dubai after engagement but before marriage. The VO must have decided to ask if DW was pregnant again because all this Dubai to US waka could be out of pregnancy. I guess the VO finally decided to create the opportunity just in case DW is pregnant to avoid stories that touch.

Thanks for the wishes.

Well what I was saying is it's not commonsense as you may as well like to put it. Your intentions as well as the VO's motive is not what we are actually debating here. I was just saying it wasn't clear to me. But well, for people who are into these type of things and who know people who are into it, it would definitely be common knowledge.

Thanks for clearing the air on mutual funds. But whether you set the money aside or not, the assumption at the embassy is that the funds will be liquidable at the intended time of use. Doesn't remove anything from the point I was making.

Na real air clearing cheesy. Doh.
