TwlitsThrn:Noah's ark is an impossible story. period. Jewish, Christian and Is'lamic religions all have the same origins and are merely plagiarisms or each other. Even the pagan religions of old have had some sort of story involving floods, that doesnt mean its true. Religion is a delusion only its mainstream so you cannot exactly call it that. What do you call something that is a fixed false belief, something who's entire foundation is based on faith? A schizophrenic claims he hears voices, you cannot dispute that but then you believe that he hears voices, what do you call the schizophrenic and yourself? What do you call someone who believes fervently in the historical plausibility of Noah's ark in the face of contradictory evidence? |
If you want to quote, when you click on reply scroll down to topic summary, by the person's post you'll see "insert quote" and we're arguing semantics here. Christians refer to the bible as the "word of god" as written down by men inspired by god. Also, what might be the "word of god" that you're referring to? Me I do not believe in god, and I do good because I'm a moral person, apathetic at times but moral. I do good because well, its the right thing to do and I expect it to be reciprocated, it's like altruism. Even among animals, the mother bison defenders her young from the lion, she's not doing it for a higher power its more like she's bound to it. lol and what might be this "path to grace" of which you speak? I dont think I understand you. |
Kobojunkie:You like Bill O'reilly's point of view? |
Pastor AIO:I thought the bible was supposedly "the word of god", surely if it is "the word of god" then it must have been specifically tailored to mankind? and there would have been no mistakes? This is just proof that people do not need the bible for their morals, if the bible was indeed fully moral and "the fully complete word of god" there would be no need to pick and choose now, will there? @lady the bible is not a valid history book. |
God speaks to people through their history. He tells u where u have been and what message u were supposed to receive from it. Some people don't listen when God is speaking. You don't have to hear a "VOICE" to know that God is speaking. He also speaks through people. You never know who God will choose to minister to u and it's not always the pastors of priests. It can even be a homeless person or a terminally ill person. Trust me it u've ever been through things in life and taken the time to look back, u will see places where God was speaking to u. God does not ask people to commit atrocious crimes. I'll be back to speak more, am running late, bye.
I thought "the lord" spoke to moses and Joshua, to wipe out their enemies(genocide). Surely the message couldn't have been muddled up along the way? People claim that god speaks to them, that's a load of horse crap. I'm curious though, if you say that god speaks to you then how exactly is that message relayed and why exactly does he choose to speak to you, why not other people. So are you going to tell me that any good thoughts that you might have or any basic decision you might make that might be advantageous to you, comes from "the lord"? wow. Its like all those stupid "prophecies" that pastors like to make that they claim comes from "the lord", combination of hot and cold readings plus vagueness and given enough time it will eventually happen. Given enough time a jobless person might get a job, given enough time some one will eventually get pregnant. Yeah very impressive. |
May kelly:May Kelly you're a fundie and quite frankly your opinion is not valid to me. The bible is not a valid history book. |
So I'm wondering, why is this exactly? One might call that hypocritical no? I'd just like someone to tell me why the bible cannot be followed word for word and what the criteria is for choosing what to obey and not. |
Pastor AIO:Dawkins is a good author and well respected in his field. I agree though "the God Delusion" was more of a rant, but it was still a pretty good book. Now "the selfish gene" that was great. |
Highly unlikely that anyone "loves" god. More like if you don't love him he'll kill you and torture you for all eternity lol. What a fascist. |
oloriooko:lol what confused life? I don't even want to begin to attack christianity. Pray tell, what proof that Jesus is alive? Its beyond me, how a rational human being can still continue to believe in such tripe in this day and age. Prove to me that Jesus is alive and Ill renounce my belief system. |
That would be funny, if god can send a female to hell because she wears trousers. Apparently he doesn't have more important things to worry about. |
Thanks dude. You know Flew became a deist and accepted Jesus' resurrection? |
Does anyone know of any good atheist authors like Dawkins, Hitchens or Bertrand? or any modern day philosophers? |
OLAADEGBU:Your analogy is not applicable here. What number does pi end at? OLAADEGBU:so your god used the earth as a proving ground for his creation? so much for being omniscient. Anyways I'm done with this argument. |
I thought the day of Christ's "resurrection" was supposed to be a fixed day? |
Calculation of easter is based on pagan ritual lol. "The dating of Easter today follows the same. Accordingly, churches in the West observe it on the first day of the full moon that occurs on or following the Spring equinox on March 21" |
samba123:lol Islam is even worse. Merely a plagiarised religion. lol and they actually follow it word for word acting upon their bloodlust. |
obviously selective bible passages to prove your point, can't exactly call that "complete faith" now can you? when you choose to obey some parts of the bible and choose not to obey other parts of the bible. The bible also states you should kill a disobedient child (Deut 21:18-21) and advocates stoning of thieves and adulterers. Should you obey that one too? Bunch of fukcin hypocrites. skylolyng: |
OLAADEGBU:I dont believe in life after death nor do I believe in god, I'm sure if there was even life after death my own code of ethics will hold up. But hey that's Christianity's for you, believe or be everlastingly tortured. What a sociopathic god you believe in. Human imagination is a wonderful thing. That's why you have idiots like uchkochi claiming that Aids is a spirit. |
O.P If you want to do something about it you have a lot of options Ask them to install sound proofing. If they refuse or call you a demon 1. Arson 2. Buy big speakers, face them towards the church and play music while they are holding services 3. Organize a protest or get signatures from the residents or hold protests while they are holding services 4. Call town planning or something like that 5. More arson. |
OLAADEGBU:lmao, it is up to every individual to define his own code of ethics, not Paul's letters to his followers aka "the word of god". All you have stated before, resurrection of spirit and all that crap seems to be a recurring theme in pagan religions which Christianity is based on. What, Fleshly passions like being helpful to your neighbor, being polite, not seeking war? Those are "earthly"? Okay why does God need money exactly? surely money is "earthly"? Spiritual things and "spirituality" are only valuable to the gullible, especially those people who feel the need to fill in "the god of the gaps", its human nature and its perfectly understandable. But to claim that your vision of your imaginary beings properties can be analogous to science is just profoundly stupid. I fail to see how my line of logic proves my fellow MAN's belief in an imaginary being. |
OLAADEGBU your delusional. Your beliefs are so warped, I just have to comment on them. "Paul's letters" have all of a sudden become the "word of God" more like the "word of Paul". And please your embarrassing yourself attempting to use sub atomic particles to prove "the nature of god", these have been proven to exist unlike your god whose existence or rather proof of his his existence continues to elude us. |
Obalende:They are very succesful con men, there have been a lot of very succesful con men throughout history, however these ones are a very special case since they come under the guise of religion, exploit people for their beliefs while simultaneously remaining tax exempt, making millions of dollars and using their platforms as a medium for dishing out their political beliefs. These con men notice how they try to lend credibility to their names by using the word "DR", very few of them completed university so how exactly do they get to use the title? ever heard of diploma mills? Notice how people with legitimate ailments, such as the crippled never walk and never get invited on stage? Notice how there has NEVERRRR been 1 verified miracle? This has all the makings of a con, but it sickens me that these people remain legitimate and they continue to prey off the gullible and those legitimate seekers of miracles. All the while they manage to quote scripture that states you should not judge them, you should instead leave it to God to decide. |
JayFK:no, I retract my statement. Anyone that is stupid enough to get systematically robbed by these charlatans deserves it. survival of the fittest no? |
Obalende:lulz, I thought the whole point of the forum was to discuss religion as a whole? so if they are robbing innocent Nigerians they should be left alone, is that what you are saying? |
Obalende:Which is exactly what our problem is. They cannot be called to task, its always "leave it to God". Thats why our country is in the shitter. Ever heard of Peter Popoff? |
There should be restrictions on their crap, nowadays any Tom, Dick and freaking Harry can decide to establish a Church in a residential area and they should be Tolerated? When I was in PH a church moved in next to our house and its an "open air" church, with canopies. They used to hold night vigils every Friday and this is a residential area. So fu****g annoying, at least 4 residents applied sound proofing, but I mean shouldn't it be the church that has to do the sound proofing? lol anyways about a month ago, my brother told me the landlord evicted them for failure to pay rent and I'm like what the hell did they do with all the offering money? Next time a church moves next to my area and fails to apply sound proofing, the pyromaniac in me will be unleashed. |
