Christianity EtcRe: The Story Of Noah's Ark Is The Most Unbelievable Biblical Story Ever Told by JayFK(m): 8:37pm On Apr 02, 2008
TwlitsThrn:
Dude Sun god, what gives you the right to bash on someone elses beliefs. just b/c you don't believe in it does not give you that right. yeas religion and some of the stories can be seen as simple minded nonsense to get dumb people by but that is not always the case. true the story is very unbelievable, i have not read all the chat logs, but there is also no discernible facts that it DIDNT happen. that is one of the great things about religion. religion is great in the fact that many things are left to the believers discretion. there probably is no conclusive evidence about how such a phenomen couldve happened except by word of mouth and through the religions.
now to your credentials. do you have any understanding of the catholic, christian, a great one*, or jewish religions in which this story is held as a belief. this is doctrine that has been spread through many generations, and is held as one of the greatest stories of all time. i am not going to make any assumptions to your level of knowledge on this subject but i have explored almost every religion commonly believed by people today, and almost all religions have a reference to the story of Noahs Ark. there's similar stories in the buddhist and hindu religions, and also in the mainstream ones such as stated before. this seems to me to be more of an attack on a widely excepted belief because youve got some bone to pick with religion.
I think you have some very good remarks on this subject but without the the stable belief and willingness to listen and adhere to other peoples opinions without blatantly attacking their religions, your remarks are hard to accept but at the same time hard to refute outright. you should not beliger people that choose to believe in any religion. religion is not a delusion, aspects of it can be seen that way, but when "stories" appear widely throughout many cultures and beliefs there must be some level of fact or truth to them.
Noah's ark is an impossible story. period.
Jewish, Christian and Is'lamic religions all have the same origins and are merely plagiarisms or each other. Even the pagan religions of old have had some sort of story involving floods, that doesnt mean its true.
Religion is a delusion only its mainstream so you cannot exactly call it that. What do you call something that is a fixed false belief, something who's entire foundation is based on faith? A schizophrenic claims he hears voices, you cannot dispute that but then you believe that he hears voices, what do you call the schizophrenic and yourself?

What do you call someone who believes fervently in the historical plausibility of Noah's ark in the face of contradictory evidence?
Christianity EtcRe: Picking And Choosing What Bible Verses To Obey Among Christians. by JayFK(op): 8:24pm On Apr 02, 2008
If you want to quote, when you click on reply scroll down to topic summary, by the person's post you'll see "insert quote"

and we're arguing semantics here. Christians refer to the bible as the "word of god" as written down by men inspired by god. Also, what might be the "word of god" that you're referring to? Me I do not believe in god, and I do good because I'm a moral person, apathetic at times but moral. I do good because well, its the right thing to do and I expect it to be reciprocated, it's like altruism. Even among animals, the mother bison defenders her young from the lion, she's not doing it for a higher power its more like she's bound to it.

lol and what might be this "path to grace" of which you speak? I dont think I understand you.

Don't be ridiculous, we can't follow the bible word for word. Otherwise we would have stoned each other half to death. We pick an choose bits that resonate with us and rely on his good grace to sort out the bits where we fall short.
I thought the bible was supposedly "the word of god", surely if it is "the word of god" then it must have been specifically tailored to mankind? and there would have been no mistakes? This is just proof that people do not need the bible for their morals, if the bible was indeed fully moral and "the fully complete word of god" there would be no need to pick and choose now, will there?

@lady
the bible is not a valid history book.
Christianity EtcRe: Does God Speak To Humans? And How? by JayFK(m): 7:46pm On Apr 02, 2008
~Lady~:
God speaks to people through their history. He tells u where u have been and what message u were supposed to receive from it. Some people don't listen when God is speaking. You don't have to hear a "VOICE" to know that God is speaking. He also speaks through people. You never know who God will choose to minister to u and it's not always the pastors of priests. It can even be a homeless person or a terminally ill person. Trust me it u've ever been through things in life and taken the time to look back, u will see places where God was speaking to u.

God does not ask people to commit atrocious crimes.

I'll be back to speak more, am running late, bye.
I thought "the lord" spoke to moses and Joshua, to wipe out their enemies(genocide). Surely the message couldn't have been muddled up along the way?
People claim that god speaks to them, that's a load of horse crap. I'm curious though, if you say that god speaks to you then how exactly is that message relayed and why exactly does he choose to speak to you, why not other people. So are you going to tell me that any good thoughts that you might have or any basic decision you might make that might be advantageous to you, comes from "the lord"? wow. Its like all those stupid "prophecies" that pastors like to make that they claim comes from "the lord", combination of hot and cold readings plus vagueness and given enough time it will eventually happen. Given enough time a jobless person might get a job, given enough time some one will eventually get pregnant. Yeah very impressive.

JESUS CHRIST OF A TRUTH YOUR ALIVE - YOU'RE NOT IN THE GRAVE - YOUR THE WAY, TRUTH & LIFE.
THE HUMBLE SON OF THE TRUE LIVING GOD - I PRAISE YOU, YOUR INDEED LORD!!!
JAYFK, You requested for it and you have it!

Acts 2:24
But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

Romans 6:9
For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
May Kelly you're a fundie and quite frankly your opinion is not valid to me. The bible is not a valid history book.

I fail to see how Dawkin's is a good atheist author. I thought his latest offering, 'The God Delusion' was especially rubbish. Rubbish with some of the daftest arguments I've ever heard delivered in a ranting style that has served to drive some previous atheists into investigating religion again.
Dawkins is a good author and well respected in his field. I agree though "the God Delusion" was more of a rant, but it was still a pretty good book. Now "the selfish gene" that was great.

OLAADEGBU:
It does not take a rocket scientist to come to the conclusion that if there is a wristwatch found in the Sahara desert it must have been made by a watchmaker and that it did not form itself by chance as you are made to believe. In the same logic you will expect that Matter was created by a Creator. Time had a beginning, likewise Space and they will all have an end or expiry date.
Your analogy is not applicable here. What number does pi end at?

OLAADEGBU:
You as a person as an intelligent being is expected to search out the meaning and purpose of your presence here on earth and what would happen to you when your time expires. It is a privilege to pass through time, space and matter but when your time is up will you be prepared to meet your maker? You may say you don't believe but if and if you find out after death that you are to face your maker on the judgment day would that not be too much of a risk to your soul to meet Him unprepared?
so your god used the earth as a proving ground for his creation? so much for being omniscient.
Anyways I'm done with this argument.

obviously selective bible passages to prove your point, can't exactly call that "complete faith" now can you? when you choose to obey some parts of the bible and choose not to obey other parts of the bible.

The bible also states you should kill a disobedient child (Deut 21:18-21) and advocates stoning of thieves and adulterers. Should you obey that one too?
Bunch of fukcin hypocrites.

OLAADEGBU:
Death is definite and your creator and ruler of the universe will be judging you by His moral standard which is the 10 commandments and if you do not pass that test with your own code of ethics you will find yourself eternally separated from God in the lake of fire. To avoid this calamity happening to you avail yourself of the free gift of eternal life that Jesus has purchased for you with His own blood so that you will not be judged on judgment day and start to enjoy all the benefits of eternal life from now on.
I dont believe in life after death nor do I believe in god, I'm sure if there was even life after death my own code of ethics will hold up. But hey that's Christianity's for you, believe or be everlastingly tortured. What a sociopathic god you believe in. Human imagination is a wonderful thing. That's why you have idiots like uchkochi claiming that Aids is a spirit.

O.P
If you want to do something about it you have a lot of options

Ask them to install sound proofing. If they refuse or call you a demon
1. Arson
2. Buy big speakers, face them towards the church and play music while they are holding services
3. Organize a protest or get signatures from the residents or hold protests while they are holding services
4. Call town planning or something like that
5. More arson.
Christianity EtcRe: How Best Can You Describe The Holy Trinity/Godhead by JayFK(m): 1:26am On Apr 01, 2008
OLAADEGBU:
@JayFK, you can now see why the Word of God is fresher than tomorrow's newspaper. It has accurately described your line of thoughts in the quotations below, and this shows that Paul's epistle is inspired by the Holy Spirit. The reason you cannot fathom the existence of God is because you are a natural man as described in the scriptures.

1 Corinthians 2:9-16 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

The natural man is a person living under the control of fleshly passions, the sensual and depraved part of man in contrast with the rational part. He is the animal man as opposed to the spiritual man. He has no sense of spiritual values neither does he desire them. He counts it the highest wisdom to live for this world and carnal pleasures. Spiritual things are foolishness to him, he cannot see their supreme excellence due to animal appetites and being spiritually dead.

In contrast, the spiritual man lives under the control of the Holy Spirit and minds the things of the Spirit. He has the mind of Christ and discerns and esteems spiritual things above the sensual. He is a new creature and resurrected from death in trespasses and sins. The lower animal passions have been crucified and put off.
lmao, it is up to every individual to define his own code of ethics, not Paul's letters to his followers aka "the word of god".
All you have stated before, resurrection of spirit and all that crap seems to be a recurring theme in pagan religions which Christianity is based on.
What, Fleshly passions like being helpful to your neighbor, being polite, not seeking war? Those are "earthly"? Okay why does God need money exactly? surely money is "earthly"?

Spiritual things and "spirituality" are only valuable to the gullible, especially those people who feel the need to fill in "the god of the gaps", its human nature and its perfectly understandable. But to claim that your vision of your imaginary beings properties can be analogous to science is just profoundly stupid.

I fail to see how my line of logic proves my fellow MAN's belief in an imaginary being.
Christianity EtcRe: How Best Can You Describe The Holy Trinity/Godhead by JayFK(m): 12:15am On Apr 01, 2008
OLAADEGBU your delusional. Your beliefs are so warped, I just have to comment on them.
"Paul's letters" have all of a sudden become the "word of God" more like the "word of Paul". And please your embarrassing yourself attempting to use sub atomic particles to prove "the nature of god", these have been proven to exist unlike your god whose existence or rather proof of his his existence continues to elude us.

I perfectly understand also the issue with money - no man is exempt from mismanagement of money - many calls for money appear like gimmicks no doubt - but look at the scale of the Ministry - could it have originated from man - since God might have detected that he is fake - why can't He stop Him - this shows that it is not a business venture in this case; this however does not annul the position we have in many places where people ARE EXPLOITED - i can defend benny hinn and a few and not just anybody.

and yes theer are frauds in the churcch so i understand were you're coming from.
They are very succesful con men, there have been a lot of very succesful con men throughout history, however these ones are a very special case since they come under the guise of religion, exploit people for their beliefs while simultaneously remaining tax exempt, making millions of dollars and using their platforms as a medium for dishing out their political beliefs. These con men notice how they try to lend credibility to their names by using the word "DR", very few of them completed university so how exactly do they get to use the title? ever heard of diploma mills? Notice how people with legitimate ailments, such as the crippled never walk and never get invited on stage? Notice how there has NEVERRRR been 1 verified miracle? This has all the makings of a con, but it sickens me that these people remain legitimate and they continue to prey off the gullible and those legitimate seekers of miracles. All the while they manage to quote scripture that states you should not judge them, you should instead leave it to God to decide.

There should be restrictions on their crap, nowadays any Tom, Dick and freaking Harry can decide to establish a Church in a residential area and they should be Tolerated?
When I was in PH a church moved in next to our house and its an "open air" church, with canopies. They used to hold night vigils every Friday and this is a residential area. So fu****g annoying, at least 4 residents applied sound proofing, but I mean shouldn't it be the church that has to do the sound proofing? lol anyways about a month ago, my brother told me the landlord evicted them for failure to pay rent and I'm like what the hell did they do with all the offering money? Next time a church moves next to my area and fails to apply sound proofing, the pyromaniac in me will be unleashed.
