Bruv, look around you. Do you seriously think Nigerian youths are ready for leadership? Only very few are in an age when the majority are obsessed with bling, social networking, party lifestyle and 'big man thinz'. I interact with a lot of young Nigerians (18-35) and I can say most (90%) are not serious or conscious of what matters in life and how they can contribute towards making their society better. Young people do not automatically deserve anything. They must earn whatever they want in life. If I were Buhari I would ignore Nigerian youths because of what they are. Better to recruit from an era where people were patriotic and were dedicated to serving their nation than enlist irresponsible young people from an era of narcissism and shallowness.
Am a youth that fall within that age bracket but I must confess that the shallowness of the thought process of most Nigerian youths these days is phenomenal.

It is so funny that the jokers that claim 95% of importation will rather fill their form Ms putting Apapa or Tin Can or Roro as Port of Destination, rather than Onne or Warri!!!

It is even more laughable that they allude their stupidity to the so called ''Yoruba Agenda'', that made them not to fill Onne or Warri as their ports of destination.

When we tell them that they are clowns, they will keep arguing and biting the dust.

The question we need to ask those asking why Lagos Port is congested is ''Is there a law in this nation that stipulates LAgos Port as the only Port of Destination?

There must be something that is making all and sundry to run away from other ports. What are those things?
It had been outlined to them, but they rather stupidly choose the lie that gives them orgasm.

Its arranged that way by customs believe or not but make your self happy!
Which Customs? What did the customs do? Do you even know that customs have no power to designate an area within our territory that constitutes a port (sea land and air). No customs officer has the right to reject posting to any port or land border. It is not their responsibility to direct traffic to any port. They have no power to fix tariff and duty rate. They are both security and revenue collecting officers who ensure compliance in accordance with the CEMA customs and excise management act.

Feel free to say so... In fact, I totally agree with you and your ilk, the yorubas in connivance with the FG have ensured for decades that every other port in Nigeria dies except the over crowded port in yorubaland. Very brilliant analysis!

Anyway, permit me to say you are a typical African; every problem (even a headache) is viewed as an orchestration of your enemies to harm and frustrate you. But bro, where has that sort of mentality left your continent?
Funny, when you ask them to outline the systematic policies initiated by the FG (in connivance with their Yoruba enemy) specifically targeted to or inimical to the effective utilization of the PH port, they can't.

Not true. It only political. Niger delta Militancy started not that long but this imbalance has been in the system for decades
What is the truth? what imbalance are you talking about? Is the PH port working? yes, Does it still receive ships yes, Is there any law or policy prohibiting ships from berthing and utilizing PH port? (You can get more clarification from any NPA office close to you or write to AGM ops western port Apapa) No If you igbos want PH port to thrive, Fill PH port in your FORM M prior to your importation. Yoruba businesses are predominantly domiciled in the sw they are not the ones that will make the port thrive. Your people prefer to route their goods through Lagos and they are the ones that STUPIDLY say PH port is underutilized. As an Importer, you have a right to route your goods through any port you so desire Apapa, Tincan Grimaldi PTML PAN ATLANTIC KLT, PH etc, just fill it in your form M and inform your shipper to look for a liner that ply that route. Am a freight forwarder and I should know. outline the policies initiated by the FM specifically targeted towards ensuring that the PH port is underutilized. PH port is working. ----------------->>NEXT PROPAGANDA.

Buhari gave them the "Mission Impossible" Response.

They asked him how they can profer a Political Solution to the Criminality perpetuated by Saraki.

Buhari knows that the ONLY way to REMOVE EkwereOlodu is by IMPEACHMENT.
Yet, he indirectly asked for it.
Of Course Buhari knows Saraki wouldn't do that.
Saraki wouldn't initiate an Impeachment Proceeding against his Paddy - Ekweremadu.
Who doesn't know that amongst us - Citizens.

Buhari tactfully sent both Dagora and Saraki on an ENDLESS MISSION.
A Mission-Impossible !!!!!

This is Buhari's way of telling Saraki & Dagora - NO POLITICAL SOLUTION !!!!!!

Even if Saraki was to pull it off (IF), Buhari still wouldn't mess up his integrity with Nigerians by saving Sarakis behind.
It would be too Obvious.
Buhari would outsmart Saraki any day any time.
You really rhyme am well. They got a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE response to a MISSION IMPOSSIBLE mission.

It would not be allowed to happen in Lagos, in fact, it cannot happen in Lagos and I can explain why. You know what happens when you are pushed to the wall?.. You simply turn back, face the problem headlong and fight. Lagos being the last surviving port, it cannot be allowed to go down because of its necessity.

In the 90's, Warri used to be a great business hub for oil and gas companies. There was hardly any major oil company which didnt have operations or offices in Warri. But insecurity upon insecurity made the town unattractive and chased businesses away. Belligerent youths would stroll into a company yard and demand the companies to 'settle' or to pay development levy a.k.a 'deve'. It got so ridiculous that even private businesses and individuals weren't left out. Consequently, companies started leaving one by one and even recently, the almighty shell has also left and rendered the town desolate.

Now most of these companies relocated to PH and Lagos and then the same problem faced in warri arose in PH. But guess what?... companies were tired of moving around, Some which couldn't cope ran to Lagos, others were just forced to live with it. Why am I saying all these stories?... If the same problem which forced importers to run to Lagos comes to Lagos, there would be no where else to run to hence the problem would be tackled headlong.
You seem to be very conversant with the issue. They know the problem, they also know the solution but because of tribalism, they just want to put the blame of the problem they created on the door of the Yorubas. Recently we read reports of militants robbing, raping and killing fishermen and local market women moving to and from their villages and markets. There was the report of some angry militants that threw a baby inside the water because her mother hid her money inside the baby's pamper. That is how volatile the waters of that region is. These things don't happen on the waterways in Lagos. Some years back, it was the same ND egbesu militants that bombed Atlas Cove at Tarkwa bay that made the security agencies place curfew on the movement of speedboats from 6pm around that waterway till today.

But the Otedolas, Mai deribes, Dangotes, Alakijas and other Fulani/hausa oil billionaires still have their ships using the same 'dangerous" routes to lift crude?

But Ships travelling to cameroon, Congo, Central african republic and other central african countries still go through the same 'dangerous' route to their respective ports. Kai yoruba, are you people so cursed with hypocrisy that you now assume everybody is just as daft as you are?

Anyway, Igweocha is waking up and very fast too.
PH port is a cargo port. The port/terminal these oil vessels use are different from cargo ports. If PH port is underutilized, the fault lies with Igbos like you, why do you route your cargoes through Apapa and TINCAN, why not fill PH when opening your form M. Don't you people control 95% of importation again? or is it The Yoruba that domiciles in sw that will route his cargo via PH? you lots are so blinded by tribalism hate and lies that your brains have totally believed your delusions. If you had read my previous posts, you will know that I said most ports in the ND are used by mostly the oil industry who care less about the cost but are concerned mostly about proximity and convenience. I also stated that ND and Eastern business men do use the ports too but most times out of absolute necessity. Tell your people when importing to always use PH port and STOP COMPLAINING THAT IT IS YORUBA PEOPLE THAT ARE PREVENTING YOU FROM UTILIZING PH PORT. Educating bigots like you is pointless and me am not ready to bathe a live porcupine.

I believe you are wrong on them having to pay settlement to each community they pass because I live in the area. You do not necessarily have to pass through communities and there are a lot of ships littered on the water way. On that part, I know for one you are wrong.

As for piracy, this only started shortly after the Odili era and it is only local speedboats they go after.

The only thing I can agree with herebis kidnapping. The question is why have they kidnapped no one on any of the ships littered along our waterways?

Note: There are lots of ships on our waterways, on NLNG, Mobil or similar business. Others heading for the Onne port in Port Harcourt but this of course is not up to 1% or 0.5% of the activity that takes place at the Lagos port.
It is not that they stop their ships and settle everybody like how they settle motor park touts on the highway. It's as if it's a "racket" sort of. Some strong men or powerful chiefs control a particular stretch of water. To avoid kidnapping and/or other kinds of problems, they settle them before hand. You may live in the ND but if you are not in the logistics business over there, or you are not part of the "racket" you may never know what goes on in the waters. Like I said earlier, it is a shipping agency manager that explained the problems they are having in the ND and he specifically told me that those (cargo) ports will continue to be underutilized because of these problems.

The movement of trucks as at this moment are not limited. There are agberos and other street urchins in Lagos who constitute nuisance and extort money but nobody disturbs anyone along our waterways hence it is conducive and safe for business.

I still think they are deliberately shortchanging the ss people
Have you ever transported goods to any part of the SS? I have. Have you ever cited any projects in the SS? then you will know that you have to "settle community" is the money legal? No. Who collects the money? you should have asked me who collects or where the agbero money collected in Lagos go to. Nobody is shortchanging the SS or ND in this regard. The NDeltans should tone down on this "OUR THIS, OUR THAT" attitude. There are PH port, warri port, Calabar port, Koko port. lagos waterways are peaceful safe and conducive for business and navigation. From Apapa Tincan channel through Badagry creek, down to Badagry, is safe without problems of piracy and militancy unlike what obtains in the ND.

this is the silliest thing I have ever read. how do the oil companies carryout oil exploration in these areas then if it is that bad
Learn to Learn, ignorance makes one appear dumb. Am into the logistics business. I am a freight forwarder. Who tell you the oil companies and the shipping agents to those oil vessels don't settle "community" It is mostly oil companies that ship essential equipments through PH port. Though some business men business men do ship goods through PH port, but the rate is very very low. I often discuss with a boss of mine who works at GAC shipping agency (OPERATIONS MANAGER in charge of discharging and loading of vessels oil tankers inclusive) he often decry the level of militancy, extortion and piracy as the most serious impediment to their operations. Except it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, business men prefer Lagos port. The Oil industry that utilizes PH port due to proximity usually don't worry about cost, besides, some of these equipments may be too large and cumbersome to transport through road if shipped from Lagos.

Typing from phone now so I can't expatiate now.
Will try to later but if anyone has answers to this, I won't mind understanding the reasons behind this.
The answer is just one, MILITANCY/PIRACY. Those Niger Delta waterways are not safe. Apart from threats of kidnapping, it is more expensive for the shipping companies and shipping agents to operate that route as they have to settle or pay "escort" money to each community they pass. The cost is then passed on to the consignees. Security (or lack of it) is a serious impediment to the optimal utilization of Portharcourt port.

Politics › Re: Proposed Immunity For Senate President, Speaker Etal: Dead On Arrival (DOA) by jaymichael(m): 8:34pm On Oct 05, 2015
TonyeBarcanista:
Often times I wonder the kind of people that dominates our political space. I read in amazement the proposed move by members of the National Assembly to amend the 1999 Constitution(as amended) so as to grant immunity powers to the President of the Senate and the Deputy, the Speaker of the House of Representative and the Deputy, and also the Chief Justice of the Federation. Their argument was simply because the Head and Deputy Head of the Executive arm of government at both the Federal and State levels enjoys such privilege. Let's look at the constitutional provision

The Constitutional Provision:
For any amendment of the Constitution to be valid, Section 9 must be fulfilled upon which the president shall grant his ascent(or veto). According to sections 9(1) and (2) of the Constitution...

9(1) The National Assembly may, subject to the provision of this section, alter any of the provisions of this Constitution.

9(2) An Act of the National Assembly for the altertion of this Constitution, not being an Act to which section 8 of this Constitution applies, shall not be passed in either House of the National Assembly unless the proposal is supported by the votes of not less than two-thirds majority of all the members of that House and approved by resolution of the Houses of Assembly of not less than two-thirds of all the States.

Going by the emboldened, we can SAFELY say that irrespective of the overwhelming support the proposal may have in the NASS, it is still subject to the approval of two-thirds of all 36 States Houses of Assembly. Will the States support the amendment? How long will that take (considering that each States Houses of Assembly may conduct public hearing and seek the views of stakeholders/constituents before arriving at a decision)?

Is The Proposed Immunity Pro-Nigeria or Pro-Corruption?
It is very unfortunate that our federal legislators in their bid to protect some of their own from facing corruption and criminal offences seek to tow this inglorious path. This is even coming at a time when the call for the removal of immunity clause from Vice President, Governors and Deputy Governors is very high. What kind of immunity does the leaders of the parliament need when parliamentarians already enjoy legislative immunity(that is they won't be arrested/prosecuted for whatever they do on the floor of the parliament)? This move is at best anti-Nigeria and pro-corruption. Beside, it is alien to any democracy that parliamentary leaders enjoy immunity from arrest and prosecution. It is unheard of even in the USA that our democracy is modelled from.

It is unfortunate that our parliamentarians have taken such futile exercise as matter of importance instead of legislating on issues that affects the common man. Finally, I wish to assure members of the NASS that their proposed effort to grant their leaders such privilege is futile, unpatriotic and shall be resisted. We are waiting...

May God Bless Us All
