Goodboiyy: oritsefemi identify with Yoruba more than Itsekiri.. I think he his more Ilaje than itsekiri
@Scholes0 write about Itsekiri/Ilaje relationship na.. I would have done that but I don't know much about Ilaje . As a pure Ajegunle boy wey Oritsefemi be, it is easy for him to identify with Yoruba more if truly his mom is Ilaje. There is a far more higher population of Ilajes than Itsekitis in Ajegunle. They dominate JMJ Tolu area wella and that is Oritsefemi's zone. He used to (I don't know if he still) frequent Maraccana Tolu. |

My people, this thread gives me so much joy! this is a thread to celebrate our past achievements, our heroes and the same time be sober and reflect on on how we got it all wrong as Yorubas in all indices of development and education. How we failed to build effectively on the solid foundation laid down by our founding fathers. This thread should not only stir up nationalistic pride in all yorubas, but also stir up a wake up call to action from the mightiest to the smallest to reflect deeply and act with fervour and sincerity of purpose to progress the great Yoruba Nation. Well itsekiri love Yoruba too.. That y u see them always forming alliance with Them. but the only problem we have with them is the identity stuff.. we hate been called Yoruba.. We don't do attachee by force as regards the Itsekiri tribe. Despite our recognition of Itsekiri's Yoruba roots, we recognize our tribe as Yoruba and the Itsekiris as Itsrkiris. Linguistically mostly related to the Yoruba language, but in terms of culture mostly related to the binis and urhobos. This fusion of cultures underlines the Itsekiri's unique Identity. We cannot call Itsekiris Yoruba and ask them to throw away the urhobo and bini influences on their culture. We are good distant cousins we share the same natural intelligence, foresight, respect and hospitality. |

babestella: Security costs money. The strategy GEJ used was to engage these hoodlums in watching our pipelines thereby keeping them off the streets. But the present day government chose to do otherwise. That policy could had been effectively streamlined for accountability and delivery. December is here soon and when you drive them from the roads, they start breaking into people's homes at night. God save us. Do you even listen to yourself? do Nigerians ever learn? The high prevalence or armed robbery that characterised Lagos pre Fashola era was almost totally eradicated during his tenure due to his huge investment in security, commitment, hard work and having concerted efforts of all security agencies and stakeholders pulled together. He only had security challenge just few days to the election when weapons, money and contracts were given to criminals and hoodlums with the intent of rigging election. You can still remember the Lekki robbery that claimed the life of a little fish seller, the robberies happening is following that same pattern. You support giving criminals weapons money and contracts saying security us expensive, what is the job of the security agencies? Do you expect the contract to last forever? and how do you expect the weapons distributed to be used when the contract expires if not to terrorize and rob innocent citizens (which is what is happening now) You gave almajiris weapons to cause mayhem and rig elections for you, after the election, they metamorphosed into boko haram Instead of giving Niger Delta youths jobs, you gave them weapons to rig election for you, after the election they turned the weapons into instruments of terror to aid kidnappings, when kidnapping is no longer profitable, they turned to militancy. These are now sore thumb that the national is barely able to contend with and now the same thing is happening in Lagos all because a clueless man that has-been rejected wants to win elections at all cost. They have created a monster that will take a huge task and very hard work to tame. Their generation will drink out of the poisoned chalice by the grace of GOD. As for you, stop supporting illegality. Security is expensive I know, but it should not have been placed in the hand of criminals. |

I knew it would come to this. Those weapons distributed prior to the election cannot be completely mopped up. Those that they gave "pipeline contract" and money, do you expect it's koboko they would use to "protect" the pipelines? This was how militancy and boko haram started. I think there is a connection between these robberies and the Lekki robbery few days before the presidential election and the "OPC" (hoodlums) disturbance and destruction on Western Avenue few days before the presidential election. No one is talking about the rise in street cultism and gang turf war these days. Ambode's Government really has their work cut out in the area of security. He should map out his security strategy and seek assistance from the Federal Government to combat this menace if he doesn't want Lagosians to Start regretting voting his government to Power. |

juicee1: so senseless.
I think ibos think too much of themselves that's why they have too many problems. To the silly OP, ibo men are the ones snatching ladies from other tribes, yet FFK is busy changing ibo ladies.
I was astonished today when an ibo lady referred to a yoruba guy as ofe mmanu while they were greeting each other. The yoruba guy didn't know the meaning so he saw no harm in the word. He just greeted her in a friendly manner. Why did she call him a derogatory name when he didn't offend her? That shows the level of hate and tribal bigotry worrying the ibo tribe.
I also experienced thesame thing at work last week when the ibo colleagues of mine called me ofe mmanu just to refer to me as a yoruba guy. I just laughed at their stupidity and acted like I didn't understand the meaning. To them, they have ridiculed me. To what end or gain? Nothing.
It's the above silly and stupid attitude of theirs that make them get suyanized in the north, flogged in the SW and rejected in the SS. Imagine insulting someone in his own domain all cos they feel no one understands their language.
The ibos need to look within to discover that the dagger they have lodged in their throat has their right hand pushing it deeper. Next Time they call u nde ofe mmanu, (oil soup people) call them nde ofe aku (banga soup people). That is what we call Shago 'n bu igo" in Youruba. |

NgeneUkwenu: Elections petition tribunals sitting in Abuja have nullified the election of the Speaker, Owaji Ibani from Andoni constituency and 20 lawmakers in Rivers state house of assembly. The lawmakers were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party on April 11 2015 in an election marred by vote rigging and violence.
The judgements given today by the relevant tribunals in Abuja is bound to compound the case of the governor of the state, Nyesom Wike, who was sacked last week by a tribunal under the same circumstances. There are 32 state lawmakers in Rivers state with the election of 21 members nullified the state assembly will no longer form a quorum as to continue to function.

You know, these "mega stores" will drive out not only igbo retail traders but it will also affect yoruba traders as well. It is a two way thing. How will these stores benefit and empower we Yorubas economically? Will it be owned by the SW people? If yes, is it not the already rich that will own these mega malls? I will always be in support of any move or policy that will encourage the small and mid range Business to thrive (not that am against these mega malls) |
