The owner of hercules was kind enough to send some pictures. I have been trying to upload since yesterday to no avail.

Meanwhile, it's day 14 since we first noticed Isis was on heat. By day 12, she stopped being receptive to Zeus. This further goes to confirm that her heat began way before we noticed.

Hi peeps it's been a while. Let's begin....
The sons of Zeus, Hercules and Perseus are doing great with their owners. They are 6 months old now (sorry no pictures)

Before Ira came on heat, I gave her some antibiotics as prescribed by my local vet. Remember she has lost 2 pregnancies now. I really hope the antibiotics work. Gave Zeus too incase incase it's the case of an STD. A correct vet recommended all the works; blood, urine,feaces tests etc but we could not do that based on logistics.

Ira came on heat on the 14th of July and as usual, her flow was heavy. At the due time she and Zeus started doing their thing. I recorded 10 ties within a span of about 10 days. Zeus was super restless that we had to let him move in with Ira. I am sure they have mated more than 20 times. It's day 36 today and no signs yet. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Isis is gallant we have this bond and I am comfortable with her . I feel I can take food out of her mouth when she is eating (I won't try that with Zeus even in my dreams). When ever she sees me standing, she would just come, lie at my feet exposing her tummy, and that was how I noticed a tinge of blood on her private part area on 24th august. The next morning, a drop of blood on my varendah. I had imagined when she comes on heat it will be conspicuous since she has grown white hair/fur under her tail but that is not the case. I never saw blood again so I concluded it's a fluke. This evening , her vulva was visibly swollen so I knew we were on track.

While inside my house, I heard an unusual cry (the type Zeus makes when he is tied to a female) only for me to come out and see Zeus and Isis tied. (Meanwhile, I heard the same cry last night)so it's posible they started yesterday. By my calculation from the day I saw blood, it's 6 days today. From experience the female dogs don't allow the male to mount them till day 10 on the average(except in cases of dog rape). It's possible Isis came on heat earlier.

I did not notice the usual hyper activity from Zeus now that Isis is on heat probably because they are next door neighbours.

What I have learnt from this episode is that:
1. your dog can come on heat without you knowing unless you pay very close attention to her everyday from when you estimate she should be on heat.
2. Having a male around really helps so you don't miss the vital period for mating.
3. Dont leave your fertile female and male dogs together if you don't want them to mate(especially if they are different breeds)

oh dear! so sorry for your loss. The up side of the story is that you were there for her all through even when she took her last breath.

An investigation into the death is very necessary to rule out the possibility of your other dogs contracting the same disease.

Build a big cage with chicken wires, with a simple trap door ( use a stick with strong elastic band e.g catapult bands as trigger) drop overiped bananas, watermelons, mangoes inside the cage.

Prior to doing this put out food for the monkey for a a few days to establish a feeding habit where you will set the trap , once the monkey sees the area as a feeding source, it will keep coming back, then set the trap; I guarantee you 100% it will get trapped..

Another method soak lots of bananas in Kai Kai mixed with lots of sugar, once the monk gets drunk and disoriented you can catch it easily..

About your bitch's pregnancy not staying, you may wish to see a qualified vet as it may be that she has an infection. it may also be because she lacks the hormones that will help her carry the pregnancy full term.

About the hyper activity, I can relate but tying her legs should not be an option, it's barbaric. If it stays, it's stays. If it doesn't, it doesn't. (I mean the pregnancy).

Please print at least 3 copies your statement of purpose with your name written on them and take to the venue of the interview. They never state that in the invite but they always request for it.

I contacted the PTDF Help Desk earlier but the personnel that responded said he doesn't know.

I feel you can wear any decent outfit you are comfortable in. Traditional or otherwise.

Met the guy on jiji, and my brother went to inspect the male, he is requesting for 30k and a puppy.
Is the male good enough? and is the price fair?

He looks good to me. Here it's 20k mating with 1 puppy so I think it's fair.Meanwhile I have learnt to be weary of jiji but if u say your brother inspected, then it all good.

Like you, I couldn't modify what I had put on flex as well neither did I see the option to upload SOP.

I don't think anyone goes through your SOP online. you will be asked to make 3 hard copies to take to the venue of the interview.


Ensure you study your SOP well. cos most of the questions will come from there. they might even ask u why OSS not LSS?

He should not mate her again until he gets a correct vet that can check her to be sure she has no infection. We will do same too for Ira. She should come on heat 6 to 8 months after her last.

Meanwhile, I googled that brucellosis . Luckily, Ira does not have most of the symptoms since she is always hyper and never lethargic. I also learnt it might not be in nigeria so I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it's something else that can be treated.

Tho she hasn't come on heat since the time she did not conceive, it was due on the first week of January.
I read on a thread of an infection called Brucellosis. A zoonotic bacteria. Its said to affect the reproductive system of dogs. You can look it up too
I'm gonna ask my friend if he feeds his dog diary products, especially on raw diet

This is actually the 3rd pregnancy she has lost 3 times in a row. Funny she comes on heat readily. The last was not even upto 6 months since the last. She has come on heat 3 times since she whelped in November 2017.
I have actually come across brucellosis severally but I always wish it away. I will do an indepth study now. During the first pregnancy that was lost, I used to feed her raw eggs daily.

Since you asked, I should as well give an update. Hmmm it's day 61 of mating today. Everything seemed ok not until day 54 when I saw an almost black discharge from her vagina. called the vet bla bla bla. To cut the long story short, she started becoming less pregnant and I am afraid I have totally given up.

Meanwhile, I don't think they are pseudo pregnancies it's possible she has an infection or something. The issue is all the vet's here are paravets just doing trial and error.

Hercules and Perseus @6 weeks. I have never seen more beautifully cropped ears. I think I deserve some accolades.
