Rat Attack

I never liked being a rat, its been terrible. The humans hate you and always literally look down on you. They're always trying to kill you and to top it off, we're at the bottom of the food chain. I mean the very bottom.
I hate being a rat with everything in me, hate living from hand to mouth-literally and I hate the fact that I have to scavenge for food to survive and most of all, I hate being called a sewa rat. But the sewage is the most accommodating place for my clan. But still I had dreams, yes rats can dream too. I had a dream to discover the life of luxury and be looked upon as some sort of saviour who would deliver my clan from its pitiable existence, from scurrying about underground in filth, avoiding being seen by man and other predators when we hunted for food.

I was the only one who had this dream cause everyone seemed satisfied with the state of things. It was nature, it was the circle of life, we were meant to be constantly relegated to the bottom of the food chain and live in the lowest standard of the eco system.

But I had a dream. And so I set out, moving mostly at night, risking it during the day, taking underground shortcuts and bursting out from different plumbing systems.
I found many beautiful locations the kind i had never seen before but there was always a problem. Sometimes there was a cat, sometimes it was a dog sometimes the house was too cramped and not sufficient to contain the colony which numbered about 5 dozen mice. Not to talk of the expecting mothers. And other times I stumbled on a used satchet of 'rat killer' while I rummaged the trash for food. These humans were not friendly!

Finally by a sheer stroke of luck I happened to find my way up this particular plumbing. At first I was scared, the sheer volume of the house was astonishing and I spent hours moving round, so certain that a wild animal of some sort had to leave here. But then it dawned on me that no one was home.

I spent the night, dug a hole into the air conditioner vent and snuggled there just in case of company. The next morning, my good fortune dawned on me and out of excitement I nibbled everything in sight, which was mostly the wiring of the a/c I had spent the night.
I chose the particular room for our living quarters because there was something elegant about it.
There were pictures on the wall, humans I didn't know but they looked important and what really fascinated me was the table. There were papers neatly arranged and I knew my friends and I would have a swell time nibbling whatever we could get our hands on. There was a piece of clothe, it looked breathtaking although it was quite plain with just two colours: green and white.
I was excited and I took off, retracing my path down to the sewers. I couldn't wait tottell the colony about what I had found. At first they didn't believe me, I had always been the erratic one, the different one and maybe a little 'crazy' but my excitement was contagious coupled with my beautiful description which was exaggerated a bit.
It was decided. We would no longer be sewage rats. We would be high class rodents! We decided to migrate the next day.

°•°•°•
It was a tale of grass to grace. The comfort was priceless and we had drilled dozens of holes around the villa and whenever the women came to clean the place we remained out of sight. The minute they would leave, we would run out of our hiding places.
I loved the chair especially. The way the leather felt on my paws, a sweet sensation and I spent most days rolling on the chair, enjoying the leather scent and wondering the kind of human that sat on it and where he was.

We stayed in our new habitat for over 90 days and by that time we had believed we would stay there forever, we had destroyed wirings, eaten documents and nibbled on the curtains. This had to be rodent heaven.
But they say all good things must come to an end.

Sometime around the 100th day, the men arrived. They wore gloves and carried cannisters, they came in the dead of the night.
They sprayed some kind of chemical that threatened to choke us to death and one of them shouted when he saw one of my brothers run to his hole.

They were going to kill us. It seemed the owner of the house was returning. He had been away for so long and we had enjoyed his house but now we had to run away. It was very clear we would be killed if we didn't run away.
So the next night we moved in the dark. One after the other we dug our way down the plumbing and back to the sewage. We had tasted power for three months and it was sweet but now we needed to go back.

Our evenings are always full of tales and discussions as we reminisce on our short holiday in the unknown man's villa.
Till this day we have no idea the ripple effects our actions caused.
One of these days we'd go up again.

It has similar story line but sequence, but certainly not the same. I watched October 1 and detecting the devil was far easier there than in this story. In this story, souloho19 has give us some good evidence to suspect almost all the Amaife males and even though we can feel the mystery is abt to be solved, we still don't know who it is. Certainly not the same at all.

Christianity EtcRe: Facebook Is Gradually Becoming Unsafe For Christians by Jazmiynne: 9:45pm On Aug 27, 2017
alBHAGDADI:
We all loved it when facebook hit the internet as it made it possible for us to connect with old friends and keep up with a social life. But these days, facebook is beginning to appear different from what it use to be. I’m not talking about the improved features but how it is becoming a place for decent minds to stay away from, especially Christians. This was brought to my awareness by a brother I met few days ago. He raised some points that makes it seem like the website is now designed to make Christians sin or backslide. Below are some of the things he pointed out which you are most likely to see on Facebook. With such around, he says Christians need to visit the site with caution or boycott it if they don’t want to backslide.

1. Violence

A day doesn’t go by without coming across a video showing 2 females fighting. The problem is that the more you watch such videos, the more you lose your humanity. If care is not taken, when you see people fighting, you might pull out your phone to film 2 them just cos you want to also make a trendy video instead of separating the fight like the peace maker you ought to be.

2. Graphic images

The problem about this is that it desensitizes and reduces you to a barbarian who doesn’t get irked by the sight of blood. The images are usually those of accidents, murders, fights etc. Pictures are even better. What about videos of beheading and jungle justice?

3. Naked pictures

Churches, religious organizations and their members are all on Facebook where they do their business and connect with each other. But with the level of naked pictures circulating on Facebook, such religious people will either boycott the site or get lured into sin. I think there should be a restriction that ensures you don’t see certain things depending on your preference. Do you think naked pictures are no issue? Check the next one.

4. Pornography

This is now rampant on Facebook. Mind you, it is not only adults we have on Facebook these days; teenagers and even kids are frequently accessing the site. A 12 year old kid who really shouldn’t know much about sex is now exposed to videos showing how a penis penetrates a vagina in different styles. The next thing is for such a boy or girl to try it out at that young age. We are now being bombarded with live porn videos and the sad part is that nobody is saying anything about it.

After he finished giving his points, I realized all he said are actually all I see on facebook these days.

https://www.wotzup.ng/facebook-gradually-becoming-unsafe-christians/
If you are such a Christian and the kind of Facebook friends you can have are the type that would flood your timeline with the above mentioned, then Oga, go and recheck your Christianity. You sef, you are a hazard to other Christians on Facebook undecided

Hallelujah!

“Congratulations, we are pleased to inform you that you were successful during the interview process, the…”

Akin did not wait for the caller to complete his sentence, he had heard enough. Flinging the phone, he climbed on the mattress singing “Hallelujah! O ti se fun mi… O ti se fun mi… Olorun Eleda mi modupe o!” The noise immediately drew Titi into the room, running and struggling to catch her breathe as she watched her husband with surprise.

Oko mi, ki lo de?’ The perplexed woman asked. The look on her face told him she had asked before. For an answer, he hugged her, swirled her around, and gave her a full kiss on her lips as he proudly announced, “I have the honor to tell you my darling, your husband now has a job!” For a second, it did not quite register, and when it did, she screamed! Dancing and singing at the same time, almost squeezing life out her husband in a tight hug, she gave praises.

Then she released his hands and asked, “What is the name of the company?” “What role?” “How much are they offering?” “When are you resuming?” “Is it here in Lagos?” The questions came all in a torrent. As soon as they did, it suddenly occurred to Akin that he really had no answer to her questions. He had not waited to hear out the caller. Considering that he had attended four different interviews last month alone, it was not easy to take a wild guess.

“Ehrrmmm… You see… I don’t actually know”

Titi paused and frowned. What did he mean? She had mentally concluded that for Akin to rejoice so greatly, it must be Curbana Industries. In fact, she had calculated how to disburse the money in her mind. The landlord was already breathing down their necks and just a few minutes ago, Iya Nneka had refused to borrow her Forty thousand naira to pay Junior’s school fees. The principal had every reason to get upset, who would not? A student owing fees for two consecutive sessions was definitely ‘bad market’. Now that her husband had a job, Devil receive your shame!

However, the increasing confusion on Akin’s face did not seem to align with her thoughts. The young man’s thoughts were racing. Which of the four firms had called? He dialed the number for the third time, “You are not allowed to call this number”.

Frustrated with the automated response ‘witch’, he flung the phone again and turned to his wife. “Ife let us hope they would call back. You see, I did not really hear the caller well, so I do not know which of the firms. Nonetheless, we bless God. The light at the end of the tunnel is shining through”.

Armed with her husband’s soothing words, Titi resumed her praise songs and dancing. Soon, their neighbors were trooping in to bid their congratulations to the couple. It was a miracle; her husband had gotten a job after 2 years of feeding from hand to mouth on next to nothing.

Later in the evening, Akin strolled into the cyber café; perhaps the company would send a mail.
Sure enough, there was a mail waiting for him in his mailbox titled:
Curbana Industries Limited – Congratulations
“Wow!” he screamed as soon as he saw the heading, simultaneously dialing Titi’s number and at the same time opening the mail.

“Iyawo mi, Curbana Industries ni o”
“Curbana! Eledumare Oba! When are you resuming?” Titi screamed.

However, her husband could no longer hear her even though he held the phone to his ear. Akin’s head drummed with pounding aches, drowning every other sound as he read the body of the mail:

Congratulations Akin Ademola. We are pleased to inform you that you were successful at the interview process stage 3. The process for the final interview stage would be mailed to you shortly.”

Abi?

You are right on that.

Although he wanted us to date but I told him I dont do neighbor relationship, Infact street relationship I no do

And maybe he feels, am scared he will dump me after sexxx? Which is one paranoia I have as well. U know how guys are? After sexxx? They move on.
I don't want such to happen to me on the same street. I will just die of shame! God!

So I made it clear to him, no dating.
So he came up with marriage and he said I can ask people around, he's a good man and husband material.

My problem is ikorodu. I can marry a man am not in love with, as long as hes presentable, has a good job, and he cares for me and hes good, loving and faithful, I have no problem. With time I will fall in love. Love is overrated jare

I pray he doesn't take it to heart I said no

If only he had consult me before taking such drastic steps!

It would have been a different story. I would have gladly say yes! And hang my boots on dating, just focus on making my new family work! And also understand him too.

If only he asked for my opinion!

A potential husband slipping off my hands. sad

Cos hes indeed a gentle man.
This your story is wawuu!

Both of you just sound like misplaced priorities.

He wants u in his life, has been doing good neighbor since, suddenly wakes up with no prior hint and decides to propose marriage to you shocked
Oh okay, you say he asked for dating first and you said no, u want marriage. You want the kinda marriage where you would soon open thread Herr telling us how you regret marrying? I think that sounded very desperate from you. Its okay to let the man know that if he's asking to date u, you ain't ghat time for playing around, it has to be as a lead-up to marriage. But whatever u said that made him propose marriage in the next breathe? Wawuu!

On ur part, your problem is not knowing this man that suddenly wants to marry you, or trying to see if your goals and values align. Your own headache is Ikorodu - a house he rented ni o. Wawuu! Did he tell u that his placenta is buried in the house? Or are you guys marrying tomorrow morning? This is a simple something. Discuss with him as someone who u could be spending ur life with (that already gives u a high stake in the conversation), explain calmly and respectfully why the marriage life cannot begin in Ikorodu. He can rent out the place and get another place. Personally, I won't leave in Ikorodu for free. Too much senrere in one place - traffic, long distance from work, flooding, badoo, rituals, all the bad things na there.

As for you saying you can marry a man you don't love... My sister go and ask married peolle questions let them tell you from experience. Do not subject your life to that torture! People who love each other face tribulations inside marriage, e come be u wey no even love the guy. Please, that love which you say would grow inside marriage, grow it first outside the marriage. Yes, love is overrated by loads of paparazzi and hog wash, but take it as truth - Love is VERY important for a happy marriage. When the gbege start, its the love and friendship founded on strong foundation that keeps the couple going.

I've read some posts here where you said "assuming he consulted you before making the move decision.."
Nne as at when that decision was made, u were his neighbor, plain and simple. You had no stake at all on his life decisions. Why would he seek your approval for his relocation plans? sad

Btw, if my brother's proposal got turned down because of a rented apartment he just got, he'd not marry her cos she obviously does not love him at all
RomanceRe: Ladies! Does Keeping Your Virginity Till Marriage Make You A Better Person?? by Jazmiynne: 9:10am On Aug 23, 2017
Essentials1:
So after promising myself that I will marry a virgin, I begin to wonder how it would be for our ladies... I have seen some girl who date at least five guys (and slept with all of them all in the name of love) before getting married... Although most of them are not still married. I have met ladies who slept with guys all in the name of school boyfriends, love and plays... The one that happens during NYSC is another issue.

Some ladies will rant that men should be virgins too, but remember that they are not the ones wearing the engagement ring...

So ladies! does keeping your virginity till marriage make you a better person?

Does zipping up till the right man puts a ring on it make you more committed and strong...

Please don't start saying that there are some girls who are virgins and once they were married and deflowered, they started sleeping around.. Just answer the question according to yourself.
Does it make you a better person? No.
Individuals can safeguard their virginity because they are 'better persons' who want to obey God's standards on premarital sex.
But, the singular act of keeping virginity does not particularly make an individual a better person.

Does it make you more committed? No
If your heart is not with a man, its not with him. Virginity is not an automatic badge for loyalty.

Does it make u stronger? Yes.
You don't hunger for what you've never tasted. Its easier to say No to premarital sex. Also easier to move on from a bad man without feeling used. And definitely strengthens your personal relationship with God knowing you are pleasing him with your decision
