My Village in Benue is better!!!!!

When I was growing up I remembered vividly my parents esp my mother getting mad at me for passing something to her with my left hand, and in school the koro-koro teacher whipping a number of students who were left handed for writing with their naturally stronger hand. Fortunately I was very Right-handed. But it got me asking why this hatred of the left hand, since approx 12- 15 percent of the worlds population is indeed left handed. And in this day, are left handed children still forced converted to the right handed supposed ideal? In fact we need not look far to see the negative connotations in the English language- "Sinister" from Latin for left, and in my dialect the words for left and right loosely translate as "sweeping hand"- left and "hand for chopping pando"-right. It has been found that force conversion of a child's natural hand had a number of negative implications such as the child developing a many speech defects e.g. selective mutism, stammering and other technical flaws. So if you are punishing your seed for being left handed please don't its bad for development. Besides the most powerful man in the world is Left Handed. Yes We Hand!!!!!

@ danwo: You have gone beyond the point of this thread. ![]() |
danwo: like you didn't know Abraham was impotent. uh? "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:" romans 4:19Abraham was not impotent, he bore Ishmael with Sarah's slave Haggai after Sarah herself told him to. Know before you write please |
This is not a condemnation on the Bible but it seems to me that women are the only ones who are always infertile in the bible, with very little being mentioned about male infertility. For example Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth where all infertile before God performed miracles on them. Is there any case of man being impotent?? If you know please answers thanks. ![]() |
Why is it that when anyone on Nairaland critices the many flaws of our President GEJ,they are automatically denounced as a hater? In recent months the escalating chaos in the country (Boko Haram, Feul protests, DANA crash, Farouk Lawan, etc) has left many thinking that GEJ is clearly out of his depth. They say he is out of his depth not because these terrible things happened in his term of office, but rather in the ways he has reacted to these situations. In many nations across the world if a scandal or a disaster of the same magnitude those currently plageuing Nigeria were to occur, you would be assured that their Leaders would cancel any proir engagements they had outside the country or if the were already outside the country they would surely be on the next flight home to tackle the situations. If not to tackle them surely to calm nerves. Jona has failed in this regard woefully, at a time when his country needed him and still needs him as Head of State, he is globe trotting to useless global circuses to discuss what niethter benefits the country nor glorifies her. And if these meetings do benefit Nigeria why not tell us in what way rather that speaking in a reproachable manner on t.v. about your assets and your right not to disclose them. That leads on to my next point, how would you defend the lunacy of GEJ's principle of hiding his assets? You are the leader of a country blighted by accountability and transpirancy problems, you claim you want to fix theses issues yet you engage in a practise that would damage the merits of your claim rather than strenghten it. The situation is like a man demanding of his wife a child yet he will not sleep with her .Jonathan is an incompetent leader with many flaws, fact! Am i a hater for pointing them out? |

I mean with the likes of okonjo iweala and the rest, smart intelligent idaviduals who have served at leading international organizations surely they have sound knowledge as how to impliment policy with minimum public backlash i.e. faze out approach. Think about it nigerians they want u to protest and i agree with them, i would rather protest in poverty than kill in poverty. |

After the ending Nigeria had to the year 2011,( the Christmas day bombing). Even the most optimistic amongst us could only see Nigeria disintergrating into sectarian civil strife in 2012 but yet we haven't. At a point were christian and Muslims should be at gun point, both have taken to the streets in one voice against what we perceive as the greater enemy the government. Is it that GEJ is not as dumb and aloof as we view him? Is the extremely bad timing of the fuel subsidy removal infact a cunning tactic the government employed to unite the people at a time when they should be divided? Whether it be by design or accident no one can deny that these protests have distracted the people from civil war. |
Gaël Clichy completes transfer from Arsenal to Manchester City • City believed to have paid £7m for Arsenal full-back • 'Anything is possible with this team,' says Clichy Share79 reddit this Press Association guardian.co.uk, Monday 4 July 2011 18.42 BST Article history Gaël Clichy has completed his move to Manchester City after undergoing a successful medical. Photograph: Dean Mouhtaropoulos/Getty Images Gaël Clichy has completed his move to Manchester City. Clichy completed his medical on Monday and spent this afternoon meeting club officials to seal his move from Arsenal. It has been suggested City would pay £7m for the full-back, who is Roberto Mancini's first summer signing. Although Arsène Wenger was keen to keep his fellow Frenchman, Clichy was set to enter the final year of his contract and, having indicated he was not willing to agree an extension, left Arsenal with little option but to cash in. Clichy has signed a four-year contract and becomes the latest in a succession of former Arsenal players to join City. Not all have been an unqualified success, however, with Emmanuel Adebayor loaned out to Real Madrid last season after falling out of favour at Eastlands. "I am really happy to be joining such a great club," Clichy told the City website. "I hope I can add to the quality we already have here because we have a fantastic squad who I believe will continue to get better. I can't wait to get started and I think anything is possible with this team." Attention will immediately turn to the possibility of Clichy being followed north by Samir Nasri, who has been attracting interest from both Manchester clubs. City appear to be the favourites but Mancini has been forced to accept bringing new players to the club is not going to be as easy as he wished due to Uefa's new financial fair play rules. Although that in itself will not curtail City's spending power, there is a problem with the number of highly paid players on their books that Mancini has no obvious use for. Wayne Bridge, for instance, spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and, once Clichy arrives, will be shunted even further down the pecking order. Craig Bellamy is another, while Shay Given and Shaun Wright-Phillips have been attracting attention from Aston Villa and Bolton respectively, even though both clubs may be reluctant to match their present terms. Jô and Felipe Caicedo do not have a role to play either, while Nedum Onuoha is waiting to discover whether he impressed enough on loan at Sunderland last year to attract attention from elsewhere. Adebayor has already declared his intention to remain at City until the last day of the transfer window in August if necessary as he tries to secure a "dream" move to Real Madrid. The first real indication of Mancini's thinking may come on Friday when his squad head to the US for a training camp ahead of a three-match tour. It is hard to see any senior player left behind forcing his way into the Italian's plans, which next term will surely involve a concerted tilt at the Premier League title. larger | smaller Football Manchester City · Arsenal · Transfer window Sport More news

@Omo_Tier1 Omo_Tier1:Read My post again then read your reply and then ask yourself whether what you wrote really coresponds to What i said. I nevr said anything about residential units, I was strictly speaking on retail units in the city center and cbd. I never said anything about terraced housing I said terraced retail units or Blocks and heat has nothing to do with it. I have pics of what I mean. Please next time READ BEFORE YOU WRITE IT WILL SAVE ME THE TROUBLE OF WRITING POINTLESS REPLIES!!

Why are Senators of the National Assembly of Federal Republic Of Nigeria which is part of the legislative branch of government allowed to be part of the president's executive cabinet as ministers? Is there not a duplication of interests in this arrangement? Furthermore with the huge amount of work that comes with a ministerial post what time if any will those senate ministers have in representing their already underrepresented constituencies? Can someone please explain to me why it is so? |

Oh I remember going into a hotel under construction in Abuja in 2004, even though it was not completed I could see that this was an opulent hotel in the making, The owner was a family friend and he kindly gave us a tour, I was impressed with every thing I saw, Then he wanted to show us the swimming pool he was planning to build for this 6 storey beauty, when we got outside we ere greeted by a rectangular tiled hole in the ground. At that point we met the chief architect for the project he was German i think, immediately he saw his employer he began pleading with him to allow him change the design of the pool into a more flowing and curved piece with maybe a pool side bar ajacent but the owner would not budge he was satisfied with a rectangle in the ground, that was to be the pool for this opulent hotel. My point is that bad architectural sense is intransigent in the Nigerian it must be a cultural thing I dint know whether he thought the new proposed design by the passionate German architect was a cost burden or whether he genuinely thought his own design was better but that is the attitude of the Nigerian. PS What happened to the Millennium Tower(Tallest building In Nigeria)? Is that still Under Construction? |
Its not just the style of the housing alone, in nigeria most of our cities are dead in a ton planning sense, the city center in nigeria always looks disjointed there seems to be a lack of synergy in the ay different buildings relate to each other. There is always a roadwith no pavement what so ever boardered by Open drains(I never undrstood this concept). The buildings on the side of the road are either right up against the road making it crowded or to far from the road creating a space for litter to accumalate. Furthermore why must there be a fence between every building? The cities would look so much better if there were shop terrises in ros rather than the disjointedness of individual buildings boardered by a cold fence. Nigerian architects, city planners and city planners have a lot of work to do if we are to catch up with the rest of the world. |
