hello house, i want to ask a question, a company offered my friend an $18 cad per hour job, but the company will give him accommodation and pay for house bills as well, i want to ask if its a good deal and they only paid for hours worked for, but will be staying full time in the accommodation and he will only be spending on foods alone transportation is also sorted out by the company.
A 'good deal' is relative.

What are his options?

Hehe... people carry the matter for head.
To me, there is too much ado about it, but it brings much needed clarity. I can however see why many are particular on the issue.

BTW, it's been a while since missjekyll posted.. hope she's good

100k ish for a full carton vs £20p for 2-3 dried pieces that look suspect. The UK street value of the carton fit reach to buy ticket.

On return, almost 2 bags are dedicated for certain items as most of my belongings dey enter my oversized hand carry. On one occasion, I remember as one immigration officer kept asking- this one wey all of una dey pack foodstuff, una wan finish food wey dey Nigeria abi food no dey UK?

The one wey tire me was once seeing someone stopped for having yam in their cabin bag.

Tesla- another early beneficiary of the Trump administration. All said, with Musk being so close to power, would be surprised he drives more government contracts and subsidies towards his company.

"I've been on the record many times saying that I believe lower tariffs are generally a good idea for prosperity, but this decision is fundamentally up to the elected representative of the people, being the president of the United States," Musk said. "I'll continue to advocate for lower tariffs rather than higher tariffs, but that's all I can do."

By the way, I thought the Trump admin was going to fight Indians so other nations and the average American can enjoy what those migrants have been stealing (or development they have been preventing) .... it's worth getting updates on the state of that 'fight'

People who say such crap tend to be those who are either gullible or blame others for their misfortune.

There are many Nigerians in the diaspora who would put much of their success down to information and support from network of Nigerian friends or colleagues.

Bottomline is there are good and bad humans everywhere.

I saw a 20 years old building ticking all my boxes but with an EPC C(74). The owner has been the occupant, with her family since new. She uses wall paper to design some of the walls. I found them so nice and I may even retain them for a while. I’ve read about people using wall papers to cover up defective parts of their houses. In as much as this doesn’t seem like it, are there other things that I need to look into or be aware of?
House is in Scotland and I have seen the home report of building and nothing was mentioned about any defects in the building.
Again, at what point do I do my own survey?
Most regular buildings of that age would have an EPC of C except the owner had gone out of their way to upgrade it.

I may be wrong but the main issue with wallpapers would be covering damp. Surveyors have a device that can detect damp behind such. Truth be said, a 20yo house is almost 'new build' and unlikely to have major issues if well built and looked after. Worth noting that most boilers and double-glazed windows tend to 'expire' around this time. This is what I've noticed when I viewed houses of that age. New carpets would also be expected.

I booked a survey once sale price was agreed and solicitors involved. I think its worth getting it done early so if anything major comes up, you can walk away or renegotiate without feeling like you've put in too much

Thanks for this answer. I had £2500 overdraft limit but reduced it to £2000. However, I do use up my overdraft monthly and pay this in full monthly but use it up the next month. Will this have an issue with my mortgage application!
You can proceed, discuss with a mortgage advisor and see. The most would be them declining.

However dipping into your overdraft monthly may raise flags when they review your bank statement. It shows you can barely survive on ur pay.

Credit cards are different. With overdrafts you pay daily interest on the amount used (at least with my bank) - so it's not a good way of lending except in dire circumstances. With credit cards you dont pay interest if u repay in full at the end of the month.

Bukad:
Co-asking this question. I have always wondered if arranged overdraft usage affects anything in the mortgage process?
Don't see how it'd be an issue except if you had a recent credit application or you dip into it often. My understanding is that even if you repay an overdraft withdrawal within a few days, using it in the first place might mean one is struggling with their finances. With credit cards, it's different.
As far as the sums used are a lesser part of ones limit and they're repaid monthly, it shouldn't be an issue. I heard some lenders may ask questions if a regular person has a very large credit allowance.

I had 3k on my overdraft and it didn't even come up

it goes without saying that funds must be confirmed in the account before goods are released. Aside the things you noticed, the session ID and/or transaction reference always has the date and time of the transaction in those long string of numbers you see. It takes some getting used to, but with practice over time, you'd be able to glance through and spot any funny business in mere seconds

Eg the original you posted, after the 000014 the next number is the date in y/m/date format 25/02/22. The next two numbers in the exact time the transaction went through 19:05
In the right hands, that can easily be cloned and edited in seconds. Confirmation for a business person should not only be based on a screenshot the customer shows them

What's the difference between bank app and online?
Or, can you state the various ways, one can check/transfer money in your account?
By 'online', that is the secure website of the bank where you can login from any browser, check your balance and make transactions.

To transfer, you could use an app, 'online (i.e website), USSD (i.e specific phone codes). Other methods would be cheques, via an account officer (for certain accounts) e.t.c.

In todays world, no one should be using a screenshot from the sender to verify transfer of funds.

Sometime earlier this month, around past 7am, just as I was heading out to drop my kids at school, I got a call.

...
Why are you relying on a screenshot (or even SMS alert) to confirm receipt of funds?
So if the person didn't seem in a hurry, would you have released the goods?

Forging a transaction screenshot to have all features of an original can be done in seconds.

It might be you were targeted because they know you don't have a quick and reliable means to confirm receipt of funds. Calling your account officer for every regular transaction is not a good use of time.
Your bank app or online account is the quickest and most reliable way of confirming

Easy with the self-deprecating statements. The value of a nation is not dependent on the presence of a U.S embassy. Moreso, it's not just in African nations they're shutting down embassies - even Scotland might lose its embassy. Would you say other nations lack value because of a U.S embassy?

Kenyan law enforcement agencies have copied this illegal habit of parading suspects. People are innocent until peoven guilty.

Its a pathetic way for incompetent security agencies to make it seem they are working. After parading suspects, next is to release them after bribes. Any of such (if at all) should be done after conviction

Lol.... who's "we"? 😂😂

Anyways, I call it strawman fallacy.

It's not ad hominem because I directly addressed your comment(s) which have revealed your naiveté about the UK electorate and politics. For example, your comment expecting Kemi/Tories to have made significant gains in the year after their near-extinction at the polls. Hilarious.

What is ad hominem actually, are your comments about your Dear Enemy. After being persuaded to dislike her by your followers lol, you now persistently attack her and even go as far as making up comments that she didn't in fact say, in an effort to further your narrative and delight your base. Rather "chaldish" (in the words of Love Island 2019 lol).

That you really think the Tories, under Kemi or any other leader , were expected to rebound in just 1 year after their thumping at the polls, shows your lack of knowledge of how UK politics works.

You clearly don't know many years it took Labour to claw back credibility and support after their defeat under Gordon Brown in 2010. And Labour's defeat in 2010 was no way near as catastrophic as what the Tories suffered last year. Same story when Tories lost power under Major in 1997 - it took them many years (and many leaders) to reemerge as a viable opposition.

Carry on being obsessed with Kemi and her "cupboard" 😂😂😂 but the reality is that the Tories are destined to languish in the electoral wilderness for a few years yet - regardless of their leader. No one is expecting Kemi to lead them into the next GE (I don't even think she's expecting to tbh) but that won't change the outcome much - Reform is Starmer's headache for the foreseeable future, that's who he's trying to sweep into the "cupboard", not your Dear Enemy.
Are all these vituperations just for me?

At least, we can both agree that our anchor baby is staring down the barrel of a fully loaded gun. I hope she knows to keep her hands off the trigger.

As always, I can only wish her well.

Yes, and just a couple of days ago the US VP was talking about how the UK and UK are likely close to a deal.

There have been issues recently with Chinese investments like the British Steel Deal and the Bradwell 2 proposed nuclear plant but again one can see Starmer handling the issues speedily and effectively while avoiding any diplomatic fallout.

The reality is that the fellow is quietly competent. Not bombastic like certain other folk, and he certainly has faltered here and there but he's clearly a steady pair of hands and exactly what the country needs in these times of serious uncertainty.
He is (and this is coming from someone who didn't vote Labour). He has a calm head that doesn't seek controversy.

Even on discussing with those angry about his moves, they know he's doing the right thing and are unable to highlight an alternative option. This is another reason why Kemi has her work cutout - despite challenges, his performance has been good enough that she's struggled to sell alternatives. Trumps shenanigans and his unpopularity locally hasn't boded well for her. The only criticism of him hat sticks is that he is not ambitious enough i.e not looking to make wild changes to the system. This can go both ways.

From the riots, to Ukraine, to Trump, to China, to legal immigration, to the rape issue, to the NHS, to even removing undocumented migrants- its been all clear talk and do with no populist catch phrases.

Hehe.. not surprising you managed to drag Reform into the matter.
I wonder what Reform has to do with Starmer effectively putting Kemi in a cupboard. That Kemi has been unable to capitalise on an expected first-year slump in Labour's popularity is concerning.

For Reform, the last time their likes pushed policy, it brought about Brexit which I am forever grateful for. If my compatriots feel they are the best deal, I'm happy with that. A part of me wants them to win - they would bode well for my business interests. Moreover, certain lessons have to be learned twice.

Starmer has done a good job of cozying up to Trump. I gather the UK are top in line to receive American freebies.

Still wondering what is going on between us and China though. Lots of back and forth but this governments message has been clear- we need them. I'm beginning to appreciate Starmer's diplomacy with both the U.S and China - cozying up to them but standing furm on local issues.

Lol! I missed that and have just looked it up.

It has always been clear that she's incompetent, and that culture wars are her only forte. It's unsurprising to see that she's a liar, to boot.

Now that she's in a top job and she can't hide behind anyone (while undermining them as she did Sunak), even her supporters can see through her easily.
The bolded got me thinking. Her unravelling has been quite telling. She looks increasingly desperate with each day that passes- clutching at anything to gain attention. She had so much goodwill at the start but instead decided to focus on her 'ethnic enemies'. Recently, it was that major Tory donors have refused to fund the party cos they believe she stands no chance.

Despite being quite loud on her achievements and hoping it was just a slow start, she kept digging herself in.

The 'beauty' of capitalism. Even if one doesn't like capitalism, to do well in the west, one needs to understand it.

Just like pre-Brexit, I'm sure when folks asked what would happen to the care sector e.t.c if eastern Europeans stopped coming, avid brexiteers would have said 'good! they're stealing our jobs and keeping wages low'. Well, we know how things went.

One thing I've noticed about major western nations is that they not too infrequently mimic themselves. You can just about predict how one would go by looking at another.

justwise:
China will feel the pain as much as America until they managed to sign a trade deal with a bigger economy somewhere around the world.

China cannot consume what they produced despite their population.
In absolute terms, more pain should come Chinas way. However their ability to tolerate and absorb the pain is much higher than the Americans. It was inevitable they'd lose low paid manufacturing as their middle class grows and they've worked towards that. Today, the likes of Apple and German Auto makers would do everything to sell in China. Also, for China, it was also only a matter of time before they'd clash with the U.S and tarrifs on them have long been mooted. I'd be surprised if they don't already have a clear pathway to adress this. American companies OTOH are largely surprised at the scale of this

In addition, the Chinese are far less exposed to the stock market. They've had their issues with housing where most invest in. Americans OTOH, have most of their retirement funds invested in their markets.

Lastly, China owns hundreds of billions in U.S debt which they have began to sell down to great disarray at the White House. America own squat in Yuan debt.

I'm hoping that for the rest of the world esp 9ja, rather than this be a case of '2 elephants fighting and the grass suffers', smaller nations could ride on this and drive better investment opportunities for themselves. China needs aggressively fund development in some nations allied to it just thesame way America did with Japan, South Korea and Europe after the world war II. That way, both parties would come out better
