Colonel Abdullahi (former Kwara military governor) was loyal to IBB. There was speculation that responded by air and probably airlifted personnel to Dodan Barracks.....

He was definitely responsible for a recorded broadcast "assuring" Nigerians (we were praying the coup would succeed) that the plotters were being confronted.

That man was one of the main peeps that crippled the coup effort.

Plus, Orkar was broadcasting even when the coup was going south, so we didn't know what was what, till we saw a slightly bandaged (injured?) IBB on an outdoor podium that evening.

Still remember it like yesterday.

In the Biafran struggle, the Biafrans care less about what other groups think..
The idea of supporting an Igbo candidate is just a struggle, and not the conventional rotten politics we are used to already....
The Igbo Presidency is not the Biafran problem right now,, but the message which must be passed to the people..
The way things are going in Nigeria is not good at all, and yet Nigerians failed to grab the message that was intended to be passed through election boycott..
In that case, supporting an unpopular candidate in an unpopular party would pass the message better..
It is not about any other people supporting them, or coming to pledge any allegiance, or seeking terms on which to support them, or forming any alliance with them..

It is a call for them to stand on their own, and support a struggle and stand by it; and let other groups see that they have taken a decision, and that they are going strongly by it..

It's not about Igbos supporting one of their own, but who appeals to other tribes as well.

If Igbos can put forward one candidate and do some maneuvering and alliance forming, they can actually produce a president.

The problem is that, unfortunately, Igbos will find it very hard, if not impossible to agree on one candidate they will all support unreservedly and peddle to other tribes including the Yoruba (yes, we Afonjas who you hate so much).

If all Nigeria agree to vote only for an Igbo, 1000 candidates will show up and each will believe he must be the chosen one. None will back down.

Here is the problem with Igbo presidency.
