meedoLock: Happy weekend frnd So, you are to holistically consider your mental state and imagine all the physical and mental stress having kids would make you go through. Most especially, women of this world.
I'm also expecting a first child, and I do feel for our mothers/women, they in most cases go through this children rough play torture alone, while men goes to the street of course to fend for their families. Funny.....but as a person who grew up with five siblings and now a father of two, I can tell you that such destructive shenanigans happen when you have fewer kids. Look at the pics yourself. The highest number of kids is three! With more kids comes less possibility of total agreement to do crazy stuff, and a higher chance of someone spilling the beans to you or your spouse. Also, there's a greater age difference, with the eldest usually already a surrogate parent by the time the youngest is born. So, the eldest usually stops the younger ones from doing dangerous things, usually with the benefit of hindsight. However, we have fewer kids these days because we neither feel the pressure to do so nor usually have the resources to care for them to the degree we desire for them. |

VinnyBaba: In my Secondary School and University WhatsApp groups, I hardly Comment or make contributions.
I see them online talking about social media trends, Our School days, Visitations, etc and I always Wonder 'Do these Pple have Jobs and ambitions?'.
I talked to a Friend of mine About this and he said 'I am Anti-Social or an Introvert'.
But Really, I see those Alumni WhatsApp Groups as an Organization of Time Wasters.
HOW ABOUT YOU? Comment. Someone had a medical emergency. He was unconscious in his room. Neighbours found him, rushed him to hospital. They took his phone and started calling his contacts. None of his contacts responded with any action, till they called a secondary school mate of his Now he's been put in a big hospital, a carer assigned to him, fully paid for, getting the attention he needs. All paid for by his school mates. Nothing from his family yet. I hope you can see why I cannot agree with you. This is not a made-up story. My old friend is still in hospital as we speak, and one of us left his home state to go take care of him. I hope he pulls through. My heart and prayers are with him. That it's a waste of time for you doesn't mean it is for everyone. |

Christistruth00:

In Yoruba History His Ancestor Belgore was Af0nja's last remaining Loyal General who Stood with Af0nja's until the day he was killed in battle
During the fierce battle at Ilorin Af0nja sent Belgore to beg Solagberu his friend to come to his rescue him from the Jihadhists but instead of rushing to help his Af0nja , Solagberu refused to help him claiming he had warned him so many times and that that would happen and to make matters worse Solagberu detained Belgore Af0nja's last loyal General for 4 days
By the time Solagberu released Belgore and Belgore rushed back to help Af0nja It was finished and Af0nja had been killed
On the day the very same Jihadhists pounced on Solagberu despite Solagberu being a Muslim like themselves, Solagberu was heard by his fighters lamenting aloud that had he known the same fate would befall him, he would have followed Belgore and gone to help save Af0nja on the day he was killed "Belgore" is not a Yoruba name. "Solagberu" couldn't have been a Muslim and still been killed by jihadists. A Muslim is already conquered because he has converted. Made up story. |

It's close to the River Niger. It's close to the source of the iron ore, Itakpe Hills. It's close to Limestone deposits. Putting the mill in Onitsha, then shipping all the materials there won't make a bit of sense. Instead, it would be better to ship the products via Rail and on river barges while raw materials only moved a short distance, so that's why it was placed where it is. |

Jewessgratitud3: I need very mature advice here.
I'm a picky person when it comes to making relationship choices. For me the attractiion has to come from my end otherwise I'll find it difficult to accept the individual.
There's this guy, very mature and. I'm sure will be older than me or we'll be of same age I love watching his contents on Facebook and what attracted me to him was one of his sit down videos where he talked about premarital sex and the dangers of engaging in it as a Christian. I was wowed that a dark handsome man like him could speak against such practices and his audience that day were youth and teenagers.
I began to observe him and noticed he addresses the youth more and is always teaching them moral and academic lessons. I somehow felt connected to him and one day summoned the courage to ask him if he's married. He didn't reply.
I recently came across his video again and asked him for the last time on his comment section if he's married and I said this was the last time I was going to ask him this question. He now replied that he is not married.
I don't know, would it be wise if I take a shot at him or try being his friend. He's a Born again brother and my spec.
Please sincere advice. Are you looking for a husband or a victim? You don see mumu wey you wan use catch cruise, abi? What's all this crap about "spec" gaaaan? Did you submit specifications for God to manufacture for you? If you want a Christian gentleman, it's not by observing them online, though, assuming you're not just looking for a crutch who will be your shock-absorber. You go to the God who makes men and who made you, and let Him choose for you. Then accept His choice even if he's not "your spec". If you're a Christian, you'll know what "THY WILL BE DONE'' means. If your motives are not pure, please leave the poor boy alone, don't give him PTSD. I'm speaking as a mature Christian man, married for over 15 years, so you know I'm dead serious. As in, I'm not joking at aaaaallll! |

kenny714433: Rigid pavement is way better
Although both have their own failures but the advantages of rigid pavement are quite enormous. It's expensive than flexible pavement in construction also.
Either you lack comprehension abilities or you just login Nairaland and log off your brain.
I am shocked you disagree with me 😅 I am not shocked because you disagree, I am shocked because from your reply, you have intensive knowledge of what I said and should know better.
I agree with all what you have said, they are the disadvantages of rigid pavement. But don't also forget flexible pavement has it's own numerous disadvantages.
If we look at lifespan, rigid pavement has over 50 years while flexible has like 30 years if both are constructed properly.
Rigid pavement has greater load bearing capacity. It's always a better option compared to flexible pavement regardless of it's disadvantages.
Nevertheless, your response shows we still have intelligent people who can hold discourse. Others just quoted me to show how dumb they are. We are allowed to take differing positions on a subject matter even when we possess good information about it. Rigid pavements have a lot of advantages, but they are not a good replacement of flexible pavements where flexible pavements will do just fine. You know, we consider many factors when choosing a type of infrastructure over another. Cost, speed of construction, environmental considerations, etc. I like to tell people, the reason we in Nigeria feel that rigid pavements are totally better and should 100% replace flexible ones is because of corruption, which leads to substandard infrastructure. If an asphalt road is well built and properly drained, it will last and last. There are roads in Abuja built in the 80s by Julius Berger that are still in use, with maybe a little patching in about 40 years. There are also concrete roads that are rutted and cracked even though they were built less than 10 years ago. However, if we were to be honest, we will only consider rigid parents under special conditions where they are the absolute better choice. Thanks for respecting my position. I respect yours, as well. |

COMPAQ: Thermal expansion should be worse in Europe cos the temperature differential there is even more. Houston can go from 23C in the day to 5c at night. Not sure I've ever seen temperature differential more than 5C in a day between high and low in southern Nigeria. Hmmmmm......the differential might not be as important as the highest temperature reached in the day. I know I talked more about the differential, though. |

Either you lack comprehension abilities or you just login Nairaland and log off your brain. I can tell you a few reasons why I disagree with you. You sound like a construction professional, so I will make free with the terminology. One major advantage of flexible pavements is ease of maintenance. You can get easily cut out potholes and fill with fresh asphalt, while you get problems with bonding and shrinkage in the case of concrete roads. Super elevation of roads, where vertical curves are merged with horizontal curves, is handled better during construction with flexible pavements, because the sub-base and road base already have the geometry and you just lay the base and wearing courses to follow suit. Concrete pavers tend to lay pavement in flat planes, so vertical transition can be a problem. Result? Bumpy ride around curves. In Africa where we have intense heat in the day and relatively cool nights, thermal expansion is also a problem, especially when you consider the expansion differential between concrete and the reinforcing steel bars. Result? Some hideous cracks with sharp, jagged edges that can fuckup your tyres. I say Asphaltic roads are waaay better from cost to operation and maintenance. |
