Hi my efam,
Congrats to all those who received great ILETS and ECA results, PPR and COPR and God's speed and favour to all hopefuls.
I am grateful to everyone on this thread who has made this journey encouraging, seamless and hopeful for we All, God bless your good hearts.
This is just my 1cent for those whose PPR would come from Dubai Visa Office.

I received PPR and was asked to send my passport to Dubai Visa Office(DVO) which I did. They requested I use a particular courier service-ARAMEX (their only office in Nigeria is in Lagos ). I had to include a prepaid waybill as requested (NB: kindly insist at ARAMEX that 2 waybills are generated for you,one for sending and the other for receiving). I must add that every PPR is unique and requirements must be strictly adhered to.

DVO stated in the PPR mail that they would prefer I send the passport to a Visa Application Centre (VAC) and that service charges apply. I contacted GTB and was told bank drafts are not raised in AED Dirham. I had to opt for the second choice which was to send the passports to Canadian Embassy in Abu Dhabi with no service charges.

I was expecting to receive pick up mail, like I have seen many people state on this thread whose PPR was sent from AVO. But Dubai Visa Office contacted ARAMEX Dubai to come pick up my passport the next day after my account changed to approved. I tracked my package with the prepaid waybill number , I didn't receive PUM and COPR was delivered yesterday to the Glory of God.
Hi guys. Here’s my Landing Experience

New Entrants Section
The room I was directed to had about 15 agents. There was a long queue. Typically, some of the agents would ask to submit your passport and CPR then direct you to sit while they verify your application, some others will do it fast while you stand. The officer that attended to me was very quick. She asked if I’m married, if i have kids and how much I’m traveling with. I told her USD2,500. She asked for address for PR Card. I gave her. She asked if I’d been convicted of any crime or refused admission to any country etc. After answering, she wrote my answers on the CPR and told me to sign on 3 different spots on each copy of the CPR. She welcomed me to Canada and directed me to Service Canada section. I was so excited. This all took about 5-7mins.

Hi themaestro, congrats once again.

Pls how where you able to convert your USD TO CAD? Did you do it at TD Bank or you got a more favorable exchange rate elsewhere?
Travel / Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by JESUSisable: 1:19pm On Mar 17, 2018
CONGRATS on your smooth landing. This is so insightful, thanks for sharing.

Pls are the 2bags allowed per adult? For example, if am travelling with my spouse, are we allowed to have 2 bags each making a total of 4 bags for our family of 4?
Hi guys. Here’s my Landing Experience

Flight
I travelled with Ethiopian Airlines from Nigeria on March 15. It was a 24 hour flight. First leg was from Nigeria to Ethiopia for 8 hours and then Ethiopia to Dublin for another 8 hours. At Dublin, we stopped to refuel for an hour before the final leg to Toronto for 7 hours 45mins.

The airline was good. Ethiopian allows 2 bags of 23kg each. They let you slide with an extra kg or 2...anything more than that will be rejected and you will have to shed the weight. I had issues with my baggage because I weighed it at home and it was the specified weight. Also, when I got to the airport, I weighed it again and it was still the specified weight. However, once I got on to the check-in counter, my bags were surprisingly overweight by about 4kg. I had to convert some of the suits in my bag to hand luggage which became really stressful. The plane we took on the first leg to Ethiopia was big and spacious with good leg space. If you have kids, you won’t have much trouble. Kids had enough space to play and sleeping was comfortable. We were served with one meal.

Thank you for your response. I had all these enabled and my incoming calls still go to voicemail .

mclarry:
Go to settings/phone/inbound calls - enable it/ringtone - set tone.

Back to settings again/notification - enable it/notification sound - enable it/Notification tone - should show the ringtone you set above.

Dial your freetone number severally to test.

Hope this helps.

Hi Behati and seniors,

Pls I recently downloaded the FREETONE app and my spouse called with his naija line to test if its working but his call was redirected to voicemail after one ring.

I have gone through the settings on the app but am unable to see where to deactivate voicemail. What do I do pls?

behati:

Hi Damidamsel, I know your question wasn't directed at me but I have experienced same and it was mainly due to the fact that my phone was on silent mode, and i didnt set call notification to a ringtone, so I don't hear it ring and only notice the missed call when I open the app. Once I removed it from silent mode and changed the notification from my settings, it was okay.

Hi,

Pls I will like to pm you for this information also.
Thanks

Mire222:
"Kindly pm me and I will share what has worked for us."

Let me rephrase that statement for the sake of others.

We didn't do anything extra as per job search. Basically ,we did what @fusion23 recommended. I think what made the most difference was matching keys words relevant with his job role. And he did that after we went through seminars on access employment website, the whole Job Scan system thing and applying to every job in his field available to mankind. Lol.

We also downloaded the freetone app which has been very useful.

Another point I would like to add is that if you earn big in Nigeria, please don't set your expectations too high.
it's okay to give yourself a standard or target but also be realistic and give room for growth. Of course there are people who get great jobs immediately and we'll all get there maybe not just the same time. Just keep aiming and never give up.

Hi Vascey,

Please did you raise a cheque or bank draft for the tax course payment of CAD$495

Please I would like to send you an email if you don't mind.

vascey:

That's a much better option. I tried to explore that but they insisted I pay via cheque from my country. Took about 3 weeks to get the cheque and it's been enroute for an additional 4 weeks.

Mailed them today and they informed me they had a cheque which they could not tie to an applicant. Thankfully I scanned mine and sent them a copy. Unfortunately it's not mine. Yet I wonder whose cheque is with them.

So if anyone here sent a cheque of 495 CAD to CPA BC for law and tax course without inserting the details, contact them (with details of your cheque- number and date) because they have an outstanding cheque without sender.

Muchaio how far with your process? Have you sent all your required documentation? When are you going to be inducted?
LONG POST ALERT!!!

Hello all!!! I have been a silent follower of this thread though I have posted a few times in the past. I just felt it is important I share my landing experience so far so that people can learn from our experience. my time line follows:

1. Bought tickets October 3rd (please note not a mistake, na faith and good deal)

2. Got PPR November 8th 2017 (after 8 months of wait)

3. COPR and passport returned November 27th (I had sent out our passport November 13th).

4. Landed in Toronto 17th February with my wife and son via Ethiopian Airlines, and received by my friend who took us to his place in London (we are still in his house at the moment), Ontario. The landing procedure was a bit slow as we landed on a Saturday and the customs officials were not so fast. Because of this we couldn't get our SIN and our PR card was not processed also as we couldn't remember the friend's postal code. The customs officer we met was a nice woman, she even gave us her phone to call my friend who had been waiting outside. They didn't check our bags and she asked us to sign Goods to follow forms as I was sending food over from Naija. To cut long story short, we reached London, ON around 2:16pm as it is a 2hr drive from Toronto.

Thanks for your response. I reside in Abuja also and had to travel to Lagos yesterday to send the package through ARAMEX.

,quote author=omambala post=65500389]

I also got the same PPR mail, well, I observed that one can send to the nearest VAC in section 1 (preferred). so i sent to Ghana immigration office.
secondly, I noticed that It is a major requirement to send your package through aramex to dubai officeand to best of my knowledge, they are not in Abuja cos that is where i reside.

anyways just sent mine today and hoping for a positive outcome.
I don't know about this @newmum cos my status changed to IP2 on 26th February and I received PPR mail on the 1st of March.

Newmum0615:
This is someone's interpretation of IRCC's explanation of the mass IP2 upgrade on Tuesday on one WhatsApp group:

The interpretation to their response is this: IP2 is the actual stage in which most of the work is done. Prior to the "glitch", ones application could remain in NA2 for a long while without his/her status being updated. Hence, once ircc gets done with the processing they take you to ip2, and within few hours you get the golden mail. What they're saying now is they intend to provide accurate status as ones application progresses. So technically, IP2 is the new NA2, you dig?

Don't know what to make of it sha.

Hi,

I tried editing my contact information but the update profile button is not loading and so I am not able to change my contact address to a Canadian address. How do I go about making these changes please?

Muchaio:

Hi,
Yes you can edit your details. I did that too. I have since sent the statement of completion to CPAO and it has been acknowledged so I don't think it's a problem. I used my friend's address and phone number for the application. I hope your contact person is in Ontario. The HST amounts to 13% I think. So just factor in an additional 13% on the 495cad.

PLS MY GOOD PEOPLE AM HERE AGAIN OH!

Please I have an option to send my documents to either CVAC (which they specified is a preferred option in the mail) OR Embassy of Canada in Dubai.

I need your advice pls;

1) with me using Canadian Visa Application Center-CVAC i would have to pay service charge by raising bank draft in CAD dollars which my bank in Nigeria might not be processing. CVAC uses Aramex courier service.

2) I discovered Aramex courier service is in Lagos and so I could send the package to Embassy of Canada in Dubai with no extra fees attached.

Which of these offices will facilitate the smooth and fastest processing of my application? Cos i read that CVAC forwards the documents to the VO. So I was wondering the advantage of using CVAC over directly sending it to Embassy of Canada in Dubai seeing that the embassy noted that using CVAC is a preferred option in the PPR mail.

Please dont use DHL. Aramex is fine and i think they are the only ones that does the Canadian embassy courier things.
When your passport is ready they are the ones that the embassy will call to pick it up..
Just follow the instructions and i doubt if there will be any issue
