Dear members.
In view of the below write up.
The expectation is that all refunds would have been made
by or before August ending. Unfortunately things are not
working out as expected.
The cassava has been supplied, processed and dispatch
to avoid getting bad on the farm.
But the funds did not come in the way the cassava went
out.
Some of the cassava farmer online and offline can testify
to this. Company do err in payment which is happening
right now. It's been promise and promise all through.
Every contributor will get back every dime that has been
contributed towards the projects. That we promise. We
however ask for some little patience more.
Everyone's account is documented and we will definitely
get across.
Thank you so much for your patience once again

jethro2:
Dear Entrepreneur Youth members that participated in the Cassava cultivation project.
I am using this medium to apologise for the delay in getting back your investment funds for the project.
I learnt in an expensive way that agriculture is not as easy as it seems on paper. Most information on lines are just a way to market a blog, get a set up fee or sell an article.
The expected calculation for ROI is that cassava is sold between N16,000 - N25,000 per tonne using starch content.
The practicality of it is completely different. Cassava is been sold between N5,000 - N7,000 per tonne when you consider transportation and other charges.
We delayed the harvesting hoping there will be some miraculous increase in price over time.
The latter part is to convert to gari and source market for it.
Harveting is in batches with rural processors assisstance with the market
Refund payment will also come in batches. We are praying that from now till August ending work would have been completed and every one refunded with their ROI intact.
We really appreciate us all for our patience and tolerance.
We are also sorry for any inconvenience that we might have caused.
Every other information will be pass across to us through mail, sms and phone calls.
Once again I send my apology for the delay. It was not intentional.
Thank you

Hmnnnnnnnnnn

Many entrepreneurs never gets it right because the main target and focus has been MONEY.
But sincerely when your target goal is attending to peoples need, money will surely follow.
The only person i have to compete against is always myself and myself alone.
Have you ever heard of the african proverbs that says "If you want to go far, go alone but if you want to go fast, go with people"
I would always opt to go with people.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

Coldplay007:
First time I will be commenting on the Agric section.. grin
I'm an aspiring farmer and I love your spirit.
Lovely thread you have here. I'm not a hardcore farmer like you have here but a programmer, (not in the software sense)..
I'm into running public health programs.
I can see that you are very Technical but you need to learn a bit of programmes, a course in project management or an MBA might do you a lot of good..
Empowering the capacity of the farmers like you did is guaranteed to ensure you remain a small scale farmer for a long time..
There are two many variables beyond your control with that move, what if they refuse to sell to you and decide to transport it to ogbomosho or Ibadan themselves.. you will be surprised at the ingenuity of these farmers in breaking that huge cabal you talk off..
What if somebody comes to their farm and offer them 100 Naira more, or even one of your readers on NL go their market to buy the tomatoes off them to sell for his own markets..
They way to go would be to go at it all by yourself and become a large scale farmer(buy or lease more lands, get a bore hole and plant monthly like you suggest, because using the farmers does not guarantee you getting supply the year round without irrigation..
I know the next excuse would be funds, and you will be surprised at how much you can raise with ingenuity. You can run a similar project to what Jasper is doing in Ogbomosho, I'm sure a lot of NLers won't mind investing in your Tomato farm, you can factor in the cost of the borehole in your estimate.
If I were you, I will leave that Oke ogun area you are and move to somewhere around Ibadan, ijebu ode or abeokuta where linking the major markets won't be a problem..
Please stop focusing on only Lagos markets, I'm sure the cabals in Ibadan, Oyo, ijebu ode, Ife and other smaller towns would be easier to manage..

Jethro2 based on the conditions you listed above its more or less saying you are a Vegetable Union person or encouraging continued unionism in the market.
The government isn't responsible enough to have regulation in place. So these Unions sometimes are very underhanded because of their corrupt practices.
Hmnnn. must one belong to a union before one bring about changes. What exactly is your point?
Please stop pointing fingers and get some work done
Who are the goverments?
We will only make the move the day we sto blaming someone for our woes
Lots and lots of people are making it big in the same country that a lot complain about
They neither have two heads or more brains.

greenmatorganic:
Question for you @Jethro2 pls what's the composition of your organic manure, is it made out of compost using aerobic digestion or you have a compostor.
Moreso, have you tried the fertilizer from Earthcare
Why dont you go straight to marketing your product instead of posing some big grammars that a local farmer like me can not comprehend?
What happen to poultry waste and cow dungs?
You can visit the farm and i will teach organic manure usage free of charge.
please get someone else to patronise

she said she cant meet demand and she had to make use of other farmers which she cant irrigate their farms.
Thanks a lot for noting this
Another big question
How do you irrigate all the farms that belongs to the farmers in your network?
The biggest challenge ever.
Its no more about my farm but my farmers farm.
Farmers in hundreds

There is somethng that can be done in this case and that is get another source of water, irrigate your farm!

YES. Irrigate your farm.

The lack of rain made many farmers to incure losses. Even those dt made it to d market were priced at ridiculous amount. Lesson, there is nothing u can do abt things you dont have control of..
It was a colossal loss. A big one at that. Yet the price was low.
But yes it can be controlled. One need to work around it
AgricultureRe: Tomato Production And Marketing. Facts Backed With Figures by jethro2(op): 4:40pm On Aug 16, 2015
The big question of how the farmer manages the tomatoes would have been easy to attend to if rainfall did not become an issue.
The excitement at the begining was much
They all nurse the tomatoes and were counting days
Just few days to when we were suppose to transplant then the rain seizes
2 days 3 days one week , two weeks
And......It was terrible
AgricultureRe: Tomato Production And Marketing. Facts Backed With Figures by jethro2(op): 4:35pm On Aug 16, 2015
After I have had several meetings with the farmers
I ordered for tomato seed and shared
Yes I shared free
I shared as much as i can afford as of then which was quite much
Over 100 tins of 100gramms of tomato seed
hmnnnn
The basis is that the tomatoes will be collated together for movement to market.
And so the counting begins

"I called this method gambling"
Gambling in the sense that a lot of things are unpredictable
farmers might mess it up because it comes free.
"people dont value what they do not pay for"

Did they take care of it?
Big question
hmnnnnnnnnnn
