If you must take postgraduate degree abroad, you'll be silly to go for LSBU. Surely u can do better than that. You mentoned that you will visit the University later in the year to assess the school but I can assure you that your visit would speed up your wrong decision-making. Why? Because tha fact that you had not visited other schools quality you will automatically be mesmerised by South Bank Uni considering that most of the things you have seen arent available in the best of Naija universities. If more than 100 people have contributed to this post and more than 95% are telling you not to attent LSBU then tahts enough warning. trust me when I say you are better off attending UI than the likes of South Bank, London Metropolitan, Middlesex etc. Even multinational companies in Nigeria are very reluctant in taking graduates of thos kind of schools Secondly, for an engineering graduate who had been in bankin for that long, you will be shooting yourself in the foot for choosing to study for postgraduate in Petrleum Engineering. (The fact that LSBU even give you an admission in Pet Engineering should make you run miles away from them). Even with top rated uni you will struggle to get a job in Petroleum Engineering as they have a silent code of not taking more than 2 year graduates as Fresh intakes in Engineering. However you can make loads of money in associated Oil and Gas careers such as System Applications (SAP or PeopleSoft or JDEdwards), Supply chain Management, Engineering/Capital Project Analyst and even make more money. I have worked in Upstream Oil and Gas for alomost a decade and know for a fact that most companies do NOT take more than 25 year old graduates as fresh intakes in engineering You say you dont want to be a small fry yet you are considering South Bank. Imm 95% certain you will regret going there but you dont hav IN e to take my word for it Someone said earlier that some QAA rating is better than the University League table and I laugh at such ignorance. it is a welll known fact in the UK academia that very poor schools like South bank and td their peers commission some obscure rating organisations to give them good rating because they know they are rubbish and wont meet the standardised required standards or respectable rating bodies DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND DONT CHOOSE A WRONG COURSE. ALWAYS SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN THE INDUSTRY YOU ARE INTERESTED BEFORE MAKING A DECISION AND NOT SOMEONE TRAPPED IN THE YOKE OF SUBSTANDARD COLLEGES LOOKING FOR ASSOCIATES REMEMBER YOU SAID YOU DONT WANNA BE A SMALL FRY |

The post is made up nonsentical fiction.
[li][/li] [li][/li]
Sanusi Lamido at no point resigned from First Bank, he was appointed CBN Governor from the post of MD First Bank
[li][/li] [li][/li]
There was no time under Yaradua that 2 Kano men were Minister and Minister of State for Finance. Remi babalola was minister of state and he is from Ibadan in Oyo State
[li][/li] [li][/li]
That you can say that "Sanusi Lamido's stint in commercial banking was "uneventful" shows how ignorant you are - the guy rose to be AGM in UBA and rose to be MD of First Bank. as far back as 10 years ago he was on top 3 of most respected Credit analysts in the entire banking industry
[li][/li] [li][/li]
Im a big fan of Soludo but the truth is that if he is still running the show at CBN, the banks would have simply vanished by now. Shows you lack basic macroeconomic and central banking/finance knowledge
[li][/li] [li][/li]
Clearly your write up lack any substance nor does it shoa any intelligence whatsover and its only in a faceless forum like this that people like you get to air your simpleton ideas. Before you jump into conclusions, im not from kano and not even a northerner. Im a proud Yoruba and do not and have never met Sanusi Lamido, but why kill our few heros whilst the whole whole is celebrating them |
vigasimple:This must be one of the most myopic and tactless analyses ever. Only that anonymity nature of NL make it impossible to link faces to so tasteless thoughts |
fstranger3:Ordinarily this question should be ignored, or at least refer you to Arisekola's biographers cumpersonal assistants and secretaries: 'cause you simply must nail a man with something just to hang him. However, it is on record that one of his friends set him up in Gamalin business in 1967 with 300 pounds as capital, after which the British manager of ICI (Imperial Chemical International) gave him a 3,000 pounds credit facility which was subsequently increased to 21,000 pounds by 1970. Mind you 21,000 pounds is still a big nmoney in today's terms, now think of what that amount of money could buy 40 years ago! Ojukwu's father was possibly the richest man in Nigeria around that time and Ojukwu, in his biography, mentioned that his dad built a high rise in the most expensive part of Lagos that period for about 20,000 pounds, now let me bring your mind to the present day looking at the NPV Net present value of money (21,000); how much do you think a high rise would cost in Victoria Island - an empty plot of land in Banana Island is N1billion! Many people know that Oba Otudeko is his closest friend and associate (they jointly own lion share of First Bank and many other blue chips like former Econet etc) but didnt know that Otudeko was actually the branch manager ( later MD) of Cooperative Bank in Ibadan where Arisekola had his business accounts then and availed him a lot of credit facilities thereby making his business grow bigger over time Again, go check your facts before you join the 'pull him down' bandwagon |

Super GbamAnother beer parlour crap talk. Arisekola was a very successful merchant dealing in wholesale of Gamalin 20 as at 1967-69. By 1972 he had more than 50 cars on hire purchase for taxi drivers in Ibadan. Get your facts right |
~Bluetooth:You obvioulsy lack attention to details! Ignorance is a major syndrome. Get cured! |
~Bluetooth:Keep your eyes on fact rather than making rude comments. I have just gave an example of the Awos if you are close to ANY employee of Tribune Newspapres that has been there for at least 13 years you may confirm if what I expressed is right or wrong, you might also want to contact Kola Abiola if you want to get his opinion on Arisekola, but if you are grown enough he expressed it in some interviews he granted around 1999 circa. Concentrate on how to make something of your life rather than hide behind a faceless forum castigating people who have made some of theirs. And by the way it takes a homo sapien to be Are Ona Kakanfo, but not empty ones! Silence remains best answer for your type though! |
hbrednic:Thank God the boy has now been released. For those jubiliating on the kidnapping, remember he has a wife and a baby! Should they also suffer because of sin they did not commit? The wife is from the Belgores of Ilorin, is it a crime to marry the guy? She the entire Belgores suffer because of some offence they did not commit? I insist no man deserves to be kidnapped because of percieved enemity of an uncle |
Let me also let you know that most families we see as progressives in Yorubaland loves and respect Arisekola to high heavens. The Awolowos and Abiolas were big beneficiaries of his benevolence. I did my youth service in Monitor Newspapers (now rested) which is owned by Arisekola, I know for a fact that at that time Tribune Newspaper group owned by the Awolowos was broke and going into extinction. It was Arisekola that allowed them to stay afloat buy letting them print for free and would even give them rims and rims of paper for free without charging a kobo in his Ring Road based outfit, a competitor for that matter! The present crop of business men would be too glad to see their business rival die (eg Dangote & Otedola) A lot of his businesses stopped being profitable because of negative economic policies that has virtually killed most manufacturing businesses in Nigeria but the man made sure he was paying his staff so they can feed their families, despite the fact that there was no job for them to do Im not saying the man is a saint but please give him the respect he deserves, or at least shut the eff up on matters you dont have facts on! |
thameamead:Mufu Lanihun has always stayed in his own house. What happened was that he built a mansion In Oke-Ado along Awolowo Way (Lagos Bye-Pass) almsot opposite St Theresa's College which was finished in 1998 circa but the man did not move into the said property for many years and was still residing in his old house which was right inside the ghetto of Popoyemoja. The has however moved some 3-4 years back into the house but he has been suffering of some serious illness and has been out of public/social life for the last couple of years |
People tend to talk thrash here simply because its somewhat anonymous. Im not his fan but if any of these thrash-talkers grew up in Ibada, they would know that Arisekola has been an established billionaire businessman since mid 70s. (thats well over 35 years). His skycraper Lister Building on Ring road was opened in 1970/80, was the biggest Datsun & Nissan dealer in Africa fron 70s all through to early 90s. He has feeds millions of people in his hometown twice a week and sponsors tens of thousands through school both nationally and internationally without loudspeakers like the present crop of politicians He had been a close friend of Abacha since the mid 70s and their picture as very young men in their 20s together with Late dr Ahmed Kusamotu were published during the height of the anti-Abacha struggle, that proved that they had been friends for decades before Abacha was president. So how may of you guys would have their childhood friends as President of the federal republic and then disown him No matter how bad a man is, there is no justification for kidnapping his children. That means its okay to castigate MKO Abiola's children because of the evil the man was accussed of doing during the military days, mind you he single-handed sponsored IBB's coup with $10m I know the guy that was kidnapped and there is no doubt he is a perfect gentleman who dutifully do his job without showing off the family he is from, there are many people that their father do not have up to 1% of Arisekola's wealth but they are all over the place trying to oppress we common men. , And mind you, the guy kidnapped is not arisekola's direct son, he is the nephew |
For a graduate that want to compete on the global scene, learning how to scan and print with a laptop shouldnt take more than 15 mins. If some people here wants to excuse the corpers, then there is no hope for the country. Im not saying a college graduate (in this case youth corpers) should automatically know how to use the DDc machine, Im saying it shouldnt be difficult to learn. SIMPLES, like the meerkat ad |
myk2mic:And what political experience did Hillary have before going to the senate? |
tpia.:Babatunde Osotimehin Professor Babatunde Osotimehin is the Director General of Nigeria's National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) which is the coordinating body for all HIV/AIDS activities in Nigeria. He is also the Chairman Governing Board of the Abidjan - Lagos Corridor Project, a multi country transport corridor HIV/AIDS project funded by the World Bank and the Global Fund.Under his leadership the HIV/AIDS prevalence in Nigeria has steadily declined from 5.8% to 4.4% A Professor of Clinical Pathology, he was prior to his present appointment the Project Manager of Nigeria's World Bank Assisted HIV/AIDS Programme Development Project, Provost College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria's premier university, Editor of the African Journal of Medicine and Medical Sciences and also, the Coordinator of The Social Sciences and Reproductive Health Research Network, Ibadan. He was also a Distinguished Visitor to the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and a Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies, Cambridge, Mass. USA Born and raised in Nigeria, he completed his medical studies at the Universities of Ibadan, Nigeria and Birmingham, UK and specialized in Clinical Pathology. In recognition of his contributions to the nation and especially his role as the anchor of the Nigerian national response to HIV/AIDS, he was awarded the honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) by Nigeria's President, His Excellency President Olusegun Obasanjo in December 2005. Professor Osotimehin who speaks English and Yoruba languages is married with 5 children |
bashy_demy:There is an office for the Minister of Special Duties but no ministry. The office is of a glorified butler of the government, the only thing I can think of as main roles of that office is organising Abuja Carnival which even belongs to ministry of Culture by something like 60% |
lonelypal:You might have a point but if you are insinuating Dora for Health, you may be wrong there. Health currently has one of the very best resource on the face of the planet (Prof Osotimehin), who is in the league of Prof Olikoye Ransome Kuti when it comes to who's who in world health. And to his credit he made it clear he will not be involved in the politics of PDP and will simply do his job without noise-making or propaganda like many other ministers that specialises in promising what they cant deliver ( 6000 Dora was probably in secondary school when Osotimehin was celebrated by the UN as one of 2the best of Arica |
pafun:Just before you exit from the controversy you created, 1. Bros the lesson here is that dont generalise!! 2. Check again with your "SAP contractors who cant keep a job for more than a few months at a time". Without attempting to generalise like yourself, the trend is for many Nigerian wannabe SAP contractors to get the SAP training/certification and the next morning tag themselves as "consultants" with "3+ years" (bogus) of SAP experience on their cv. This is synonymous to a medical practicioner graduating from med school today and call him/herself Consultant Surgeon the next day. Most Naija SAP contractors (bogus) are not able to keep their contracts as SAP jobs require very high job know-how which can only be gained by genuine experience, a lot of these kind of consultants used to get away with it but the SAP market has changed dramatically in the last 4 years that clients get experts to conduct interview unlike in the past where some Project Manager will just have a chat with you and pronto you get the job. These days, one who must learn to fly must first attempt to walk properly. Some get away with it but most are frustrated. 3. I really doubt if you genuinely lived in developed world like you implied, because if you do you wont assume working odd shifts to be a demeaning job. I was on an implementation for a Global SAP template for possibly the biggest oil company in the world with presence and users in well more than 200 countries. With the central design team in London Waterloo this means some consultants have to be in the office at crazy hours because of users in countries in different time zones (eg USA is 6 hours behind UK whilst Singapore is about 8 hours ahead of UK), in these situations would you just stroll into work on a 9-5 basis? You probably will come up with another 'gist' trying to debunk this fact but trust me, SAP is my field and I know what goes on in its global job market Again in Yoruba, "A i rin jinna lai ri abuke okere, ti a ba rin jinna a o ri ibi ti won ti n fi odo ibile jeun" |
pafun:The other points do not really worth responding to, but if you think 6 & 7 above are far fetched, then you really need to revievew your circle of friends, You dont need to sell 'funny powders' before you can live a good live in the UK. ERP Consultants (SAP, JDE, PEOPLESOFT etc )I know have been employed for the last 10 years earning nothing less than £500 per day, and Naija contractors are quite reluctant taking a break/going on holidays hence lost income With the way you negatively generalise and arrive at these kind of conclusions, I bet spend most of your London holidays in the south of River Thames!!! |
seyenko:Didinrin of the highest order!!! |
seyenko:Didinrin of the highest order!!! |
mahal:Mahal, so you reckon its better to be unemployed than flip burger at Burger King or stack the shelves at Tesco? Simply because you cant tell your community back home what you do for a living? It is this kind of short-sightednes and warped mentality that makes we Nigerians think unless you study Medicine, Law, Accounting or Engineering, then you are nobody. Trust me your people at home dont care if you wash plates at Nandos, as long as you can do Western Union or Moneygram from time to time. I'll leave you with a qoute, "Eni ti ko le se bi alaaru l'Oyingbo, ko le se bi Adegboro l'oja oba". (Too bad if you dont understand Yoruba, consult Alawiye) |

This pafun is a big M.U.M.U.Thanks for this answer Pappilo. It is ignorants such as this PAFUN guy that makes the whole world assume Nigerians are only in the odd jobs industry overseas. Pafun, you saw just 2 of your friends not having jobs at a specific time and you assumed the whole 2.5 million Nigerians are in same situation. Those your "2 friends" may not have job right now but the probability of them hitching jobs (if they are truly searching) is still far more than 70% even in this dire economic crisis. Would you honestly think they have have that chance in Nigeria of today where we have ignorants like yourself mismanaging the country? Using the Naija financial services industry as a case study - Do you know how many bankers lost their jobs in Nigeria within the last 6 months and do you know any bank recruiting in Nigeria? Before you jump to the conclusion that Im here to run down my dear country Nigeria, let me let you know that Im a firm believer in Nigeria and Ive flown the flag of that country evevry country I find myself. Back to the lifes Nigerians living abroad, may be you should visit this thread https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-149807.544.html , you may just find out that NOT all Nigerians sit at home living on their wives (Trust me I will jump at the chance of chilling and watching Nigezie on Sky channel 204 and let my wife put food on the table, afterall we became 1 from our wedding day!!). Many Nigerians command £500/per day eeeeeaaaasssyyyy and are actually really sought after all over the globe, even at that case I know it will be myopic of me to assume all Nigerians abroad live in affluence simply because myself and "2 friends" happen to be blessed by God in our chosen careers! |
Then I should get a Nobel, for doing nothing!! |
Another proof that we have retards running the country. Niger Delta produces oil, does that mean there are no fuel scarcity there? Imbeciles in government!!! |
Solution : Genuine wheel balance & alignment. At worst you might have to change your tyres before the alignment, this is because the non-alignment could have damaged your tyres (front tyres in most cases). Check your front tyres to see if its "chopping" more on one end that the other. |
I must still be living in pre-historic times! I thought girls are rather interested in "packed pockets" and not neccessarily six packs!! |
Seems these aethists seem to be questioning their own intelligence. In their opinion God doesnt exist yet He is responsible for the mishaps, I guess if your dad punishes you for misbehaving, that mean he doesnt exist either, (forgeting the period he rewards you for good behaviour) My submission: These aethists have proven that "common sense" is actually uncommon |
My views are as follows: 1. Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination 2. Leviticus 20:13 If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. Finito |

1. We loved & recieved Awilo Logomba's music without having a clue of what he was talking about, the magic is in the rythm 2. Non- Yorubas use their hard earned money to buy 9ice's album without understanding what he says, the pull is in the rythm 3. What separates preaching from music, its the rythm 4.
