PoliticsDear Nairaland Progressives... by Jk210(op):
At least I'm sure that's the name the APC supporters here are called.

Do permit me to have a word with you all.

I've observed the past few weeks and during the build-up to the elections issues you've had with a particular defector from your camp here on nairaland.

If you feel strongly about any of his posts and feel the need to refute it, you can always create a rebuttal; a counter-post to state your own points.

Could you please give this model a try because the politics section is suddenly becoming distasteful?

Ditto Seun your politics board is beginning to be a real turn off for posters like me who seek genuine political discourse and news. Can you please do something about the paid hacks that litter this section?

Thank you
PoliticsRe: Buhari's Ban On AIT: Nigerians Are Not Fools by Jk210(f):
I thought this issue had been thrashed these past few days and the dust settled on the topic.

So why is the OP bringing this up again? More attention seeking? I've been a neutral onlooker all this while but I just have to say it'sgotten to a point where I'm now irritated.

Mynd44 Passingshot, omenka, jaybee3 skyblue& any other person that may feel inclined to refute the OP's post, please DO NOT. You guys should stop giving the OP any more relevance.

His antics on here are now irritating...
PoliticsRe: Plans Revealed On How North And South Plan To Punish South Western Rascals. by Jk210(f):

It is because some Igbos think the Yorubas owe them some blind and automatic loyalty as per "southern solidarity". Yet when the Yorubas play politics of pragmatism, which means we must build bridges and inspect what all sides have to offer, some are terribly upset we have not supported them blindly and myopically as they are always prone to doing for anything/anyone they are connected with.

This is why they can be shouting "betrayal" at the SW over the 2015 election when any reasonable person will agree that they are merely talking out of a sense of prejudice, hate and unreasonable 1diocy. When GEJ was deemed "transformation" in 2011 the Yorubas voted for him and he won five out of the six SW States because the region loves the concept of trying to support those they think will deliver good governance.

Fast forward 4 years in which GEJ has totally destroyed Nigeria and singled out the Yorubas for ridicule and tacitly endorsed their ethnic derision from his SS and SE minions. Is it then not an entirely unreasonable mind that will not understand that the Yorubas are fully justified rejecting Jonathan? They want us to always automatically and myopically join them in fighting the North and denying "born to rule" of power yet they will never understand that the Yorubas have more on their mind than the blind, vengeful and unending hatred of others. We think of the development of Nigeria and our region. We think of the dignity and pride of Nigeria and we think of what is best for the common man. That is what drove the choice we made for the 2015 election even if some will never understand this because they always want to make war and not love/peace.

Today they are the ones mainly to be found wishing failure on APC and GMB never mind that they will be the main victims of misrule as is the case for all of us with PDP 16 years misrule that affected everyone and did not spare those who did not vote PDP. It is a shame Nigeria has so many enemies within as it just means our journey to progress and prosperity will take longer than it needs to. When a people cannot even wait graciously for a leader to be sworn in, to see what said leader can do, and must wish him failure then you know the 'human capital' endowment of Nigeria is regrettably not what it should be.
Okay but I only see them creating more problems for themselves if they keep at this ethnic and hatred politicking.

This would only serve to polarize them from other ethnic groups

It should now be clear to Yorubas how some are obsessed with "payback time" against us even when our region remain the most hospitable, most accomodating and tolerant of all. Na wa sha. You profit the most from a people yet you remain entirely obsess with seeing them "punished" and getting "payback". All because, as Osita Okechuckwu eloquently stated, some remain obsessed with seeing others "chop sad".

Mr.Gokuu, how market today? Where has the politics of hate, vengeance and bitterness got you? What have you gained from supporting GEJ clannishly for 5 years while people like you turned him into an SE/SS President and ensured he perceived Yorubas as his enemy. The sad thing is that you lot have no capacity for learning lessons. The hate that drives you is too strong to allow you to do that. Imagine someone who probably was not alive when Awolowo was politically active still hatefully ranting against the man. "chop sand syndrome" fully on display on this thread.
Hmm

Remb crime committed 50yrs ago,can and will be judge today. Hope you av heard of such b4?. The Oba's speech is already documented in the ICC waiting for anytime voilence will erupt as a result of this speech he made
It would have to be proven beyond doubt that indeed the Oba's speech was responsible for a violence that erupted 50 years later.

You'd have to agree with me that is next to impossible. Cases ICC takes seriously are usually war crimes, such as a leader using massive force against his own citizens such as we saw with Saddam Hussein et al.

These petitions and several others I listed earlier are just mere academic exercises which amount to nothing
PoliticsRe: ICC Confirms Receipt Of Petition Against Oba Of Lagos by Jk210(f):
Someone should remind me the outcome of HEDA's September 2014 petition to ICC against Ali Modu Sheriff and Ihejirika on Insecurity in the North East.

Or APC's petition against Patience Jonathan for her inciteful statements in the runup to the presidential elections.

The thing with we Nigerians is we take ourselves too seriously. The petitions end up amounting to nothing and usually end up in a slush pile.

Cases the ICC usually takes seriously are war crimes such as when a leader uses excessive force against his people as we saw with Saddam Hussein et al

the way headlines are twisted can do more harm. Where exactly did she say that she wants Nigerians dead. From the video, she said she wants Nigerians to go away so her children can get some work.
Let's be objective.
No to xenophobia
NO to sensational reportage.
Thank you. I also didn't see where she said she wants Nigerians dead.

I don't understand why people like to ferment trouble and add petrol to a raging fire. It's always good to sue for peace at all times and try not to sensationalise.

Obviously the South African government has failed its citizens by not addressing the poverty and appaling living conditions of its people. Likewise South African cirizens are wrong to take it out on the foreigners amongst them. However trying to turn it into a Nigerian vs South Africa thing is just plain mischievous and ridiculous.

It's the same way the Dr Ariyo debacle has been sensationalised to the extent it's seeming like an Igbo versus Yoruba thing.

I think its time we really ask ourselves what we really want as a people, Peace or Strife?
PoliticsRe: Why Buhari Supporters Will Boycott Threads By The Opposition by Jk210(f): 5:15pm On Apr 20, 2015
What baffles me is are they honestly hoping, praying that Buhari actually fails just to prove a point?

Sort of like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I mean if Buhari succeeds would it not be to the benefit of all Nigerians?

This brand of opposition reeks of nothing other than bitterness if you ask me

The bold part is true, I agree with you. A lot has to be done to check this. The problem with my people is that they don't like to hear the truth, when you point out certain facts to them they shout you down and call you all sorts of names. Some even called me a Yoruba boy recently.
Life is not all about shouting and anger; it could be much better. I think a lot of people are still very bitter because of the civil war. i myself get sad sometimes when I think read those books and all that but we must move ahead. there is nothing we can do about yesterday but we have today and the future ahead of us. You cannot move forward when you are weighed down by bitterness and hate. Not all of us are like this though but I pray that the majority of the bitter ones find the will and strength to come out of it. cry cry
Amen. I pray so too.

May God bless us all

APC Please try another method
This method of using media propaganda to deceive people is no longer working
PDPs version on APC using corpers to rig is already on frontpage

It's good they're both exposing each other so that INEC can get on their case, prevent rigging and eventually allow the people's votes to count
PoliticsRe: Photos: Rate BRF,AMBO And JK On Their Public Presentation Skills by Jk210(f): 9:33am On Apr 10, 2015
JK was born with a silver spoon- I believe the current GTBank MD is a relative so expectedly he had a posh upbringing which reflects in his oratory prowess.

Ambode on the other hand had an humble beginning rising to where he did through a dint of hard work just like Fashola who's from a middle class background.

Fashola beats them both hands down followed by Jk and of course Ambode.

However it would be harebrained to think Jk is a better candidate owing to his oratorial prowess. Leadership is not just about smooth talking, if it were most conmen would have been famous world leaders. Rather leadership is about strenght of character, being principled and selling your vision to people without being divisive. Jk's campaign style of pitching tribe against tribe already shows desperation, a significant character flaw.

I don't think he'd be a good leader

When I saw those pictures you posted, I first thought it was odd for a candidate to single out a demographic to speak to and tried to imagine how that would look in other parts of Nigeria. I still thought it odd.
I spend more time travelling around Nigeria than settled in one place so I cannot say for sure what is happening, but I have not seen any instances of those things with my own eyes. That is why I made no conclusive statements regarding that issue but only asked questions. I assumed that he had been using the issue of "non-indigenes" being deported from Lagos seeing as that was a major bone of contention not too long ago.
If that is really his campaign strategy, divide and conquer, then that is foul.
That has been his tactic all along. Divide the Yoruba votes with Ambode and then curry all the Igbo/ non-indigene votes to himself. At a point he appealed to Igbo's not to travel home for Easter so he could realise his ambition.

How's that for a stellar character? He doesn't even care if he pits Yoruba's against Igbo's. Well let's see how far his strategy works on Saturday.

One thing is for sure though, he is one hell of a desperate dude

Oba of Lagos cannot force people to go to rally. That is the height of insensitivity from Oba Rilwan Akiolu.
Seriously,Fashola should intervene and caution the Oba to stop harrassing my people. I don't like hearing this kind of news.
Berem look at the source- Hope for Nigeria Facebook page. Are you sure its not propaganda?

PDP desperately milking the ethnic tension in Lagos to get votes just like they did during the presidential runup

If heaven fall, it won't fall in one corner! But let me remind trouble makers, that Igbo resilience and ability to recover is legendary! Can you say that for other! Before you fire any shot, be ready to fire thousands!
And who would be the trouble maker in this context?

The Yoruba's who were peaceful and unassuming or Igbo's who came taunting them?

Look, whatever it is,my advise to the Ambode campaign team is to go do person to person, house to house, neighbour to neighbour campaign, this has done much more damage than what condemnation of the oba cn resolve.
Ambode to me is a better candidtate and its best the apc wins lagos to atleast reap all their investment in the opposition over the years, but as things are,he would sure lose if something more pragmatic isn't done..
Thing is plenty indigenes and non idigenes who are not igbo do not plan to vote,so imagine a case where igbos in their large numbers turn out to vote against

They should use their head, becuz all I can see is no way PDP can in Lagos state.
Am advising my Igbo brothers to play Lagos politics with brain and not cry marginalization after the election
In fact there are several threads in the politics section already pointing to the fact that the whole Akiolu saga is a PDP tactic aimed at fuelling ethnic tensions and garnering votes

In one Pat Utomi testifies that the Oba is the type used to cracking crude jokes and in another there's a link to the Eze Ndigbos reply where they're all laughing& jesting.

Clearly that's not the first time the Oba's spoken to them that way. They know he's a jester and didn't take his words seriously.

Someone in PDP latched on the story and decided to politicise it.

That's the annoying thing. The Ndigbos are being used to settle political scores. The Ezes are already used to the Oba's way of talking, hence their calm response.
