I asked the program coordinators for more time and they agreed because they are one of the partners of PTDF. But still I feel the time is too short. When is the extension they offered you ending? |

Engr2016: Since you mentioned that they were for the 2020/2021 session, I guess those candidates got better offers in the US admissions. Don't forget US schools usually offer full funding for PhDs and some select MSc programs. Many candidates competing for PTDF are equally trying other scholarship options in the US, Canada etc. In such cases, the candidates will most likely opt for the US school rather than the UK's. What now happens to their awards from PTDF, the funding and all? Do they forfeit their slot or PTDF gives it to somebody else? Because I spotted one of them still adding it that she was a PTDF awardee/scholar, which is making me ask if they switched their funding to US |

Good morning prospects, so I wanted to ask a question,
I got tempted to run through the list of successful candidates for 2020/2021 PTDF scholars after seeing the profiles of a few on LinkedIn, I was surprised to see like two (2) awardees having their Post Graduate study in the US although they were awarded MSc scholarship for GFM and the other UK; although I haven't chatted them up yet on LinkedIn, I began wondering if it was possible to switch to a country outside the PTDF specified countries of choice.
Well I just thought to ask sha and drop my 2 cents, I wish us all the best. |

ExpertNLer: Because when he got award letter at PTDF towers he went to complain to them that he didn't chose FGM in his application - that's when they told him PTDF reserves the right to give you any one and explained it to him That means nothing like advantage for choosing whichever country then, we're all competing with the over 150 candidates from our respective states with PTDF solely with the right to award to whichever country they deem fit. All the best comrades, be like na to go sabbatical till when list come out with my name for inside |

Yabani1122: Ko o question. Of cause for him to have been awarded d FGM which was not d country he selected shows he did very well as compared to other guys who selected FGM. Las Las na still grace in disguise Make dem no confuse us for this thread like this oooooO, first they said competition is between candidates from same states and also country of choice, more like one is only competing against those from his state and the country he/she choosed. Even PTDF said you cannot choose UK and switch to FGM, but you have the option of turnionown around FGM (maybe dem no too rate FGM), now the comrade is saying reason his mentee ended in FGM is because he outperformed those that choosed FGM (like PTDF shared the result sheet with the successful candidates?), maybe previous or current scholars can help us confirm. I can understand if maybe his mentee secured the scholarship on choice UK, but found a way of switching to FGM after getting the award, but that he outperformed those that choosed FGM and PTDF switched it for him? That invalidates the earlier assertions made then. My only question sef that I'm curious about is, why are some Nigerians that have already secured MSc abroad coming to jostle for PTDF scholarship for MSc category again? I wish us all the best honestly, it's just God's mercy and grace, because when you check people you're competing against, people that have lived their lives abroad sef or even secured First Degree abroad still also return to hustle it with you that have not neared Airport before, but God will help all of us! |

ExpertNLer: I have seen it happen. PTDF reserves the right to allocate you either UK or FGM depending on how things work out in your state. If for example you did very well but not well enough for UK, but you surpassed all the FGM applicants, they can move you to FGM. Happened to my mentee. How did he know he surpassed all the FGM? |

Engr2016: It's true, it's stated clearly that selection of winners will be dependent on the performance on actual interviews. Although I don't know if this criteria is the same for the 2020/2021 and the 2019/2020 winners. This year's process seem to be quite unique. Where is it clearly stated? I don't remember seeing that clause oooooO |

kolladey: Not straight A1s,but A1s and Bs for the five subjects selected by the panel(including English and Maths). On the fourth attempt, I changed direction to GFC(it was China the third Country during our time), because i discovered that majority of the gurus always want UK, so I left the UK for them(lolz). I am very sure that the changed of country then was one of the factors that helped me. UK is always competitive. Your interview performance is also a huge factor to make the final list. Abuja interview center is good, they are more friendly, I did my interview there(though not everyone can chose Abuja center). You remembered that someone made mentioned of Abuja center few days ago. Conclusively, God did it for me because one can only get what God has destined for him/her. May the Divine favor locates you guys. kafeii123: There's a girl on TikTok posting stuff from her work which is at this NCDMB..... she mentioned she was converted from a much lower position into that of an assessor/core role in the NCDMB...she stated that her undergraduate background was far away from her current job role and that it is the same case for most of them who got recruited ....they began work right shortly after the time this recruitment exercise was sort of active online.....can't remember the year she posted...
The information makes me think that unless serious allegations of replacement....hijack.. misappropriation and illegal recruitment/conversion of staff are reported to the EFCC...icpc or other legal body for investigation...it might be the very recruitment batch they have gone awol and mute over right when it remained just the final stage.
But this is Nigeria for you....abuse of office isn't too much crime here.... And it might take a court judgement for that action to be reversed....all applicants should do with this information what you will but I'll advise you all make effort to confirm if underground replacement hasn't been done since that time... and if you confirm that it has... make the effort to report the issue to regulatory authorities such as icpc....EFCC so they can investigate and fight for you guys.. I heard they shared the slots and were just inserting details of their own undeserving people...many of whom never even applied. You care to share the link? |

babey543: You are welcome. Ensure you already have an admission letter. PTDF will pay for your visa applications and flight. Ensure you connect with one another in the PTDF tower and form a Facebook or Whatsapp group of successful scholars to help one another in their respective countries. Connect to one another and do not insult each other as you all have a bright future.
You will be paid in 6 months advance so you can have sufficient money to bring your family. PTDF now support you to stay if you get employment abroad because of unemployment in Nigeria. They have realised that there are so many unemployed PTDF scholars and their investment is now a waste. Other countries that sponsor scholars for scholarships offer automatic employment in universities and oil companies when they go back home.
Ask for the non-objection letter from PTDF when you get employment as this will indirectly boost Nigeria's economy. The highest contributor to Nigeria's economy is those staying and living overseas supporting their family and building businesses and resources. Those without an admission letter will have their scholarship deferred. But we don't know about next year as there is an election and anything can happen. Bro thank you so very much for the updates, my question is, regarding this issue of admission, you know some of these schools require a successful applicant to pay acceptance fee/tuition after issuing admission to the individual and it's usually binding for a certain period after which one's admission will/might be rescinded. PTDF might release the list after that payment window, how does one now go about it? Then in cases for deferring admission, I might be wrong but some persons by extrapolation realize that with the current PTDF schedule the list might not come as at when due, that automatically translates to next year, shey the deferring process isn't strenuous? God will help us with this election. |

babey543: I am very sure you would have loved to choose F/G/M, especially for your PhD.
Note that UK and FGM have the same number of slots. Those PhD guys that choose are lucky. 3 people out of 6 will win. That is even if all the 6 participate in the interview. Imagine if only 3 people attend the interview. That is 3 automatic slots irrespective of their performance.
Masters have 5 winners while PhD have 3 winners in each for both UK and F/G/M respectively. Delta State na helele for everything |
