Kudos to NAFDAC on this! They should also double their regulatory activities in all the southeast states, especially in the areas of pharmaceuticals industries, hospitals and the drug distribution chain. A lot is currently going badly in our pharmaceutical sector due to poor regulations! |
Buhari's 8years of purposeless rulership destroyed all sectors, including health sector! Thank God for the able leadership of Prof Pate of Tinubu's government who's trying hard to fix things. With the steps he has taken so far, he'll surely succeed in improving our health sector. He just needs to stay focused on the goals and also extend his efforts towards improving the regulatory agencies under the ministry of health. Let's give credit to those who are doing well, abeg. |
When a people believe that life is all about amassing wealth through whatever means, the result is barbarism of this magnitude! My Igbo brothers seriously need to change their orientation and encourage honesty and hard work as the only means of wealth creation |
Women and their tendencies to take irrational decisions! I recently got to know and appreciate the reason why people have always said women are not the best in keeping peaceful families! They must always use their poor emotional control to tear families apart. Ask that your fiancee's mom what wrong her husband's siblings did to her and you'll realize it could just be some frivolous reasons! This is same reason why children raised by most single moms have one fault or the other. My advice to you,op, is to stick to your gun and insist that for the marriage to continue, your fiancee's paternal family must be fully carried along because in Igbo culture and traditions, they're the only people entitled to give their daughter's hands in marriage to you. |
SenecaTheYonger:But can you say you don't know why Nigerian men feel they have the right to have multiple women? In Nigeria, marriage and relationships place alot of burdens on the men. Men have to hustle and make money to cater for their women. Even women despise men who don't have money! So, that makes women commodities to be acquired by those with money. Like the saying goes, he who pays the piper dictates the tune of the music! So when a man eventually makes the money, he feels he is entitled to acquire as many women as he wants. After all, those who handed down the culture of "men must take care of his wife and family '' also allowed polygamy and men having concubines, but our generation wants to cherry pick the former and do away with the later. That's cheating the menfolk you know |
To solve this menace, government should ensure strict regulation of the pharmaceutical sector! I was taught in school that as a Pharmacist, I'm not supposed advertise my pharmacy on the news media (let alone prescribing medications there), but go to Facebook today and you'll see charlatans advertising patent medicine stores and inviting people to come for "treatments" there! Yet we have so called regulatory agencies who should put all these things in checks. So many things which I'm forbidden from doing as a Pharmacist are being done by patent medicine dealers while the regulatory agencies look the other way, so in that scenario it is only normal for professional pharmacists to also join in doing the unlawful. If there's thorough regulation, people can not just take prescriptions by quacks to the pharmacies and have such drugs sold to them! Pharmacies would start insisting on dispensing drugs prescribed by the medical doctors or any other licensed prescriber. So op, it'll be better for you to lend your voice in calling on the government to strictly regulate the pharmaceutical value chains. If that is done, every thing would fall in line because in the pharmaceutical laws, there are well thought out provisions to checkmate sales of prescription medicines , the problem is non enforcement of such laws leading to chaos in the pharmaceutical value chain. |
Nigerian women generally broke-shame men who don't have money such that a man is only able to get women when he has made money. As a result, many men are in competition to acquire wealth by whatever means to be able to please the females and be considered worthy to have one for marriage. Since the struggle for wealth (for most men) is centered around pleasing the women, some men now believe that killing women to be able to have other women of their choices for pleasure is not bad. Even women, in reality, don't care if a guy killed her gender to make money provided they're not the ones killed. I think the above is what's fueling the menace of killing young women for money rituals in our society. It's an unfortunate situation! |
Jennyclay:Your type na only to rant on nairaland them sabi. In real life you go collect the beating and humble! |
jaephoenix:My problem is that most of you medical doctors don't accept that such errors from your colleagues exist and that pharmacists correct those errors! Accept the existence of those blunders and give credit to pharmacists for correcting them and there'll be harmony between the two professions. Not every time you're antagonizing pharmacists, even when they're seeking professional growth and better pay from government, you medical doctors come as a stumbling block yet you expect pharmacists to be at peace with you It doesn't work that way |
jaephoenix:And how sure are you that the person who prescribed the antihypertensive was a pharmacist No well trained pharmacist would prescribe antihypertensive without keeping the patient under close monitoring. It is rare to see Pharmacists making such prescriptions in the first place without consulting a medical doctor. If we're talking about common sicknesses like malaria, common cold, pains and inflammations, that's a different ballgame. See, you medical doctors have a penchant for lying against pharmacists for whatever selfish aims you want to achieve and until you stop that, our healthcare system would continue to experience disharmony among the professionals and patients would continue to bear the consequences. |
Antidote333:You're actually ignorant of the reality of things in the health sector. This is how you people hype yourselves as the all-knowing in healthcare but I know the number of gaffes from medical doctors I have corrected as a Pharmacist yet i don't go about exposing them! A doctor recently could not correctly interpret lipid profile results! Or are we talking about cases of wrong diagnosis that have become very common in the country? I wish you guys could concentrate on improving your knowledge and skills to carry out proper diagnosis than engaging in frivolous fights with other healthcare professionals doing their own jobs |
Government should take it further by ensuring the practice of PHARMACEUTICAL CARE in our hospitals by the Pharm.D holders. A conducive environment should be provided for this. Pharmaceutical care ensures that patients get the best outcomes from their drug treatment. It does not interfere with the duties of medical doctors like some poorly informed med doctors think. Doing the above would be of great benefits to our healthcare system and life expectancy generally. |
UNIBEN has been doing Doctor of Pharmacy for quite some time now. Good that other universities are now upgrading. Government should also ensure to employ those who already have Pharm.D, DPT and DOPT into the teaching hospitals and schools of Pharmacy to act as preceptors to students on clinical rotations and as lecturers in clinical pharmacy. It is an anomaly for BPharm holders to be the ones mentoring Pharm.D students in our teaching hospitals! Government should also give some kind advantage in terms of remuneration to the Pharm.D holders to serve as incentives for others to upgrade. UNIBEN Pharmacy graduates have remained the best in practice in the country all thanks to the extra work they do in the Pharm.D program. The difference is always clear when you try to compare UNIBEN pharmD holders with BPharm holders. |
pocohantas:At the time my mom got married, life was a lot simpler. Your gender wasn't as long throated as they are today. I never said that my sisters married at 18, you're the one making that up now. If I have ever mentioned about my sister's here, it'll be that they're financially responsible for their homes. And about my own preferences in a wife, I'll prefer the younger ones that can be dependent on me and live on my terms |
pocohantas:I responded to her not because of the guy whining in the post but to point out how wrong it is to marry poor just on account of fine face. Though I detest your gender's tendency to focus and make everything about a man's money, it still doesn't mean that I'm not aware of the fact that financial security is crucial for both gender to sustain marriage. What I don't like is when your gender puts all financial responsibilities on the man alone and broke shame guys who are yet to make money. |
omooba969:The so many poverty-stricken and destitute fine-looking kids on Nigerian streets would not agree with you that money is not everything. |
Samantha125:Of course you're free to have your opinion, I just pointed out how irrational your opinion on the subject is PS: I used think in the same line as you when I was a child and thinking from emotional standpoint than reason; same way women are known to think. |
Samantha125:This mindset of yours is shallow. What's the need for making beautiful kids when you've got nothing to care for them?? This is why many guys believe that an average lady lacks the capacity for rational thoughts. I'll rather make kids who are not so beautiful but would have money to enjoy good things of life than birth poverty-stricken fine-looking kids. |
NAFDAC, please come to Enugu. Unscrupulous elements have overrun the drug markets in the state! Alot of fake drugs there! Pharmaceutical manufacturing industries in the state need constant regulation, the ogbete drug market need to be shot down (if constant and thorough regulation can't be facilitated), pharmaceutical stores and patent medicine vendors in the state need topnotch regulations! |
Just the other day, the news was all over the place about how Impact Pharmaceuticals operating in Enugu released some brands of porported artemeter plus lumefantrine into the market with no single component of the active drug in the brand. This means that those who took those ''dust' while trying to treat malaria had their cases worsened and probably needed hospitalization for severe malaria; some probably even died eventually. The above scenario underscores why people like myself have taken it upon us to cry to the regulatory agencies to do their lawful duties in ensuring thorough regulation of the pharmaceutical value chains, especially in the southeastern part of this country where the people believe ignorantly that standards should be thrown to the dogs in pharmaceuticals as to them, everything is money and business! Regulation is a crime to them! Go to places like Enugu (my case study), there's little to no adherence to standards in drug manufacturing, distribution and pharmaceutical practice generally! There are many other pharmaceutical manufacturing companies operating like Impact Pharmaceuticals in the state, while we have those empowered by law to checkmate things! Nigeria's life expectancy is one of the worst in the world and those who are thoroughly schooled in healthcare know that the menace of fake drugs and wrong use of drugs in therapy is a major contributing factor. Some people are sending others to early graves without conscience all in the quest to acquire wealth. This piece is a Clarion call to the regulatory agencies to stop taking bribes and do their jobs. I have seen a lot these few months I have been in Enugu. If the public really understood the dangers the menace of fake and wrong use of drugs posed to their lives, they would have gone on rampage to hold the regulatory agencies to account, but the majority of the people don't understand. In the 21st century, no part of Nigeria should still have open drugs markets (because they give little to no room for proper regulation), but here we are still operating that messed up system and giving room for unscrupulous elements to bring in and sell all whatnots to the unsuspecting populace in the name of drugs. Each time I am forced to discuss this problem, I remember the dogged efforts of late Prof Dora Akunyili( God continue to rest her soul)in sanitizing the system when she was NAFDAC DG. She did all within her powers to call attention to the problem and to sanitize the system as much as she could, but since her exit from NAFDAC and her eventual demise, the system has gone worse! If the regulatory agencies cannot do their jobs of thoroughly regulating the drug markets in this country, then it is better they're scrapped! Or like the former minister of state for health was proposing, a new agency should be set up to ensure thorough and strict regulation of the healthcare value chains, including pharmaceuticals! Rubbish! |
Women and manipulation! Abeg who your respect help? |
Lol.... this girl sef |
Jennyclay:Let the wife take care of herself! I blame some insecure men who allow themselves to believe that they should suffer and die for their wives and children. |
When a working healthcare system decides to import doctors and nurses from a failed healthcare system like Nigeria, the result is that they equally import corruption, ineptitude, non compliance with standards and all other ills associated with the failed system. Check very well, you'll see that the "Nigerian factor" is contributing to the decline in standards of healthcare in the UK! |
With so many Nigerian doctors and nurses getting employed by the NHS I'm not surprised about the decline in standards of UK hospitals! Same cankerworm killing the Nigerian healthcare system have infested the system in the UK! Too bad!!! |
If any war comes up now or in the future, both men and women should be in the battlefield. Gender equality should be applied to the fullest during wars! |
I want to join the group and get hooked with a South African girl for marriage this year |
All these contradictory teachings are the reasons why some rational minds outrightly reject the existence of God |
"It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" So many contradictions by the so called men of God who interpret the Bible just to suit their selfish goals. Having said that, I must make this money by fire by force since materialism is now the order of the day and has even become the yardstick to gauge morality and closeness to God. No wonder even yahoo boys, drug barons and armed robbers get praised and awards in churches. |
MrDoGood:He is free to desire virgin girls. I too desire same! |
press9jatv:Were you there to confirm that he was driving in high speed ![]() When spiritual events like this take place, uninitiated children begin to make conjectures! |
Nice one! If you want to be badass, be badass and let us know you as such. Don't pretend to be good or hide in closet. I love her for her boldness in doing what she wants. |
