Jesus endorsed tithing ,likewise Paul.Nothing can be clearer than pauls reference here 1 Corinthians 9:13-14 13 Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar? 14 Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel. The welfare for ministers in the temple comes from tithings and offerings . Same thing goes for the church. |

firefly999:Is it church duty to provide free education? Show me in the bible where Jesus or Paul built free schools. At least Churches are doing something, giving some people scholarship and we should commend them for what they are doing. God's mandate for the church is to preach the gospel |
. . .Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18) Have you ever wondered why we still pray, even though the Bible says our Heavenly Father knows what things we have need of, before we ask Him? (Matthew 6: . Well, the answer is in the Word. First, you have to recognize that man is a free moral agent, with the rights and the power of choice. God never enforces His will, purpose or choice on anyone. That’s where prayer comes in. You’d have to dialogue or commune with Him in prayer concerning whatever it is you need of Him, even though He already knows what’s in your heart. It brings to mind the famous words of the dear man of God who said “It appears God will do nothing, except someone asks Him.” How true. He needs you to cooperate with Him to bring His will and His good pleasure to pass in your life. The principle is that two can’t walk together except they agree (Amos 3:3). You agree with God when you speak the same things He has said concerning you in prayer. That way, you side up with Him to have His Word come to pass in your life. For example, in Ezekiel 36, God made great promises to the children of Israel to bless them, prosper them, make them great, and do a whole lot of wonderful things for them (Read Ezekiel 36:26-36). But in verse 37, He said something rather remarkable concerning all the beautiful things He said He would do for them: “Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet for this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do it for them.” Think about this for a moment. Despite listing all the wonderful things He said He would do for them, He ended by saying they’d have to pray to Him for them to happen. What is God saying here? He’s letting you know that even though He wants to do great things in your life, you have to give Him the express invitation to do so. Though God speaks prophetically in His Word of the great and glorious things He wants to do in your life, it’s your responsibility to ask for those things of Him. If there’re things in your life that you want changed, then go ahead and give the word! Until you do, nothing will change. God will only endorse for you the change that you’ve permitted. Prayer Dear Father, I take a stand against evil forces over my family, job and business. I declare that your mighty hand rests upon me, and upon my household and all that concerns me. I take advantage of your Word today, to deliver to me prosperity, success and victory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Further Study Jeremiah 29:12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. |
. . While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18). 1 Samuel 17 tells the story of the confrontation between David and Goliath. Before David arrived at the battlefront, the Israelites, for forty days, were continually harassed and taunted by Goliath. Indeed, Goliath, from the natural standpoint appeared invincible, not just because of his immense stature and intimidating amour, but his belligerence! He defied the armies of the God of Israel, and challenged them to a fight. When David heard that whoever defeated the giant would be rewarded – he and his household exempted from tax forever – amongst other benefits, he rose up to the challenge. Rather than be intimidated by Goliath’s immensity, he saw it as his opportunity for a good aim with his sling. With one smooth stone, he fell the great Goliath of Gath whom he decapitated with his own sword, winning the battle for the whole nation of Israel. While King Saul and the entire army of Israel were terrified at Goliath’s size, perceiving him to be an insurmountable obstacle, young David saw an opportunity for victory. When his brothers tried to shut him up and talk him out of it, he said to them, “. . .Is there not a cause?. . ” (1 Samuel 17:29). He saw an opportunity to win for his countrymen and went for it. This is the kind of mentality we ought to have as Christians. Many today focus too much on the obstacles that circumstances and situations of life pose to them, and lose sight of the opportunities for victory in that situation. In our opening scripture, the Greek word translated “look” means “to consider, mark, or take cognizance of.” The scripture therefore means not to give attention, consideration or take into cognizance of whatever challenges or obstacles you might face in your fight of faith. Rather, see every challenge as bread. See obstacles as stepping stones for your promotion, for nothing can successfully stand against you, because you’re more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). Isaiah 54:17 says no weapon fashioned against you shall prosper. Therefore see all seeming impossible situations as opportunities for your testimony. Confession I refuse to be moved by any seemingly impossible situation or be distracted by the immensity of any challenging circumstances. Rather, my attention is fixed on God’s eternal Word and power of the Holy Spirit as I walk through life with confidence, gamboling over adversities as the victor that I am. Hallelujah. Further Study Romans 4:19-21 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. |
Image123:i agree with you. But we're warned to be more careful if we're rich(everyone's got to be careful btw), excess luggage can cause issues on your flight.Thats the point we need to correct. christian wealth is not for personal opulent lifestyle, but rather to be a blessing to our world. sponsoring the work of evangelisation. The Gideons are able to make bibles available all over the world because some christians put their money into the work to sponsor millions of bibles. that what our wealth should be for. and not worldly lifestyle or materialism. 1 Corinthians 10:23 . , “All things are lawful,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful,” but not all things build up. . |
Zikkyy:even if someone is born into a christian home. it is necessary at a time to formally lead such to christ. can it be because they were told somebody died for them? or will it be because they've seen in your teachings, principles that are in sync with their value system? Will the acceptance be instantaneous or will it be driven by a period of reflections?salvation is instattaneaous. but this is a work or operation of the holyghost through the preaching of the gospel. I am saying this because i think it's possible for the fruit to come first. An example is the story of Cornelius in Acts chapter 10.cornelius didnt get saved gradually , he was obviously formerly converted to jewish religion and he learnt the piety from it. but that didnt get him saved . even though he loved God, he had to be born again legally. |
^^^^ Those who never heard the gospel will be judged without the gospel according to their conscience which is a witness of God in them |
@ coogar please i will like to get in touch with you. can you send your e mail to my box bellow? or phone number . thanks |
@ mabel ive been watching out for my own testimony which i posted on wikizoso. help me post it here na. i titled it: "I GOT BORN AGAIN THROUGH THE FEAR OF THE ANTICHRIST" very funny title but thats my testimony. |
This is really inspiring thread mabel. it is amazing the kind of things God use to convert sinners. |
^^^ Faith and works? that's a different thing altogether. The works only come as fruits of the salvation. The works don't lead to salvation. Many religions already teach morals, if all you have to offer about christ is moral ,then there is no difference . The regeneration on the inside which is the work of the spirit should be your concern. You teach salvation and the holyghost does the conviction. The fruits comes after salavation. |

newmi:I reserve my comment on that newmi:What I want to achieve os that I expected those who look at the teaching of paul in a derogatory way and compare to the teaching of christ, I expect them to respond and say why they feel we are idolising paul above christ, they should proove the dissimilarities to us |
frosbel:Thanks for the advice but I don't see preference between paul and Jesus Paul came to compliment the teaching of christ so I don't see a reason for comparison between the two of them It's like comparing who the best is between the holy ghost and Jesus christ |
Some people approach life from a negative perspective whose actions are constantly being motivated by the fear of something and this fear determines their response to life such as fear of failure Here you are as as student, your teacher asks a question, you feel you know the answer but you are afraid your answer might not be correct so you kept quiet Another students gets up to answer and gives the exact answer you had in mind You could have at least tried even if you didn't get the answer right, you stand the chance of being corrected You were hindered by the fear of failure Or You are studying the same course with another person While you are studying hard so as not to fail, the other person is studying to earn a distinction Can you see your motivation is based on fear of failure while the other person is motivated by the dream of success We have another group of people who are haunted by their past instead of being challenged by their future What if God says to you today that you have 24 more hours to live on this earth, what will you do Some people will spend the 24hours asking for forgiveness of their sins, trying to make heaven While others will take advantage of it to win more souls to Christ Those fighting to keep what they have instead of daring new grounds They always fight with the government and make demands As long as you keep doing that you'll Don't approach life from a negative perspective Don't waste time cursing darkness but rather put on the light |
No be me talk am na. It's the question they've being asking me that I quote paul too much And that between paul and Jesus who should we believe That's why Im asking |
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. Is God against our prosperity, whats your opinion |
Many people have asked me this question in several threads, so let's discuss it What's your take |
. . .LORD, who may enter your Temple? Who may worship on Zion, your sacred hill? Those who obey God in everything and always do what is right, whose words are true and sincere, and who do not slander others. They do no wrong to their friends nor spread rumors about their neighbors -Psalms 15:1-3 GNB. When you read or hear about people through the news media, it’s possible for you to have all kinds of ideas about them. But it’s important you don’t form opinions about others based on what you read or heard about them in the news. In many societies today, it’s easy to find negative news published about the leaders because they’re always in the spotlight. But not everything written about them is true. I learnt a long time ago never to believe such stories but to act like Jesus: “…and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears” Isaiah 11:3 You don’t have to be in the same place with some of these leaders or have a relationship with them before you appreciate them. Appreciate them for their work. 1 Thessalonians 5:12 (AMP) says, “Now also we beseech you, brethren, get to know those who labor among you [recognize them for what they are, acknowledge and appreciate and respect them all] – your leaders who are over you in the Lord and those who warn and kindly reprove and exhort you.” One of those things that have come to us – everyone of us – as a gift from God, is the ability to appreciate people; to like them, love them, and genuinely appreciate them. Learn to see others through the eyes of love and cherish them more for who they are and the good things they do. Don’t believe all that others say about them. Have the necessary assumption that others are good and nice; start from there, and then let them be the ones to create their own images. Prayer Dear Father, thank you for showing me in your Word a more excellent way to live. I make a deliberate choice today to appreciate the good in others and never sander or believe the rumours others spread about them. Thank you for helping me achieve this in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Further Study Titus 3:1-2 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. Ephesians 4:31-32 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. |
Febup:Because he was father of faith. And tithing was based on faith principle by men of faith. God has not even called him when he paid tithes from the booty of war and this was the only time the Bible records that he paid tithes. That's not true. He was called from Mesopotamia before he got to haran. His known tithe record was paid after his separation from lot. That was manny years after his call. |
. . . To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory Colossians 1:27. Christianity is more than a lifestyle that reflects positive and moral values. It’s God in you, living talking and working through you! It’s the revelation of divinity in humanity. We’ve come into a place of relationship and an inseparable oneness with our heavenly Father. We’re in Him and He’s in us; together, we’re one divine creation. We’re not ordinary people because we have the divine life in us. That life, when activated, will destroy sickness, disease, and infirmity in your body. It will banish fear and failure from your life and put so much boldness in your spirit. The divine life in you will bring you “…joy unspeakable and full of glory” 1 Peter 1:8, such that gloom and sadness are completely banished from your life. In 1 John 5:13, the Apostle John said, “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Now, beyond knowing that you have the life of God in you, you also need to know how it activate it. The Bible says, “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful” (1 Corinthians 14:14). The phrase “My spirit prayeth” indicates that your spirit is activated, as praying in tongues is a means of activating your spirit. As this happens it impacts your body and soul. For example, any wound you may have had on your body will begin to heal. If is growth, it’ll dematerialize. Let out the life of God in you and reign as a master in life – over satan, the world and the circumstances of life. You’re a champion forever. Praise the Lord! Prayer Dear Father, I thank you for what you accomplished for me in Christ Jesus – the possibility of receiving “Zoë” – the very essence of divinity, into my spirit. I have dominion over the circumstances of this life; I reign over sickness, poverty, failure and death, in the Name of Jesus. Amen. Further Study 2 Peter 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. |
Febup:Was Abraham a salary earner? . |
@ Micuilles Micuilles:You have said it all . God bless you . |
Febup:so was Abraham a Jew? . The mistake you guys make is this idea of making tithing a Jewish affair. Tithes and offerings preceded the emergence of the Jewish nation. Don't forget that. Abraham and people of his day didnt tithe according o Jewish law. You can't judge a christian by the Jewish standard. If you dint believe in tithing , you shouldn't believe in offerings as well . Because they are both based on the same spiritual principle. Andvif you say we should neither give offerings too. We will like to know which God you serve. |
^^^ there is no manipulation. I have right to quote the scriptures that I seem relevant and leave out unnecessary ones. The verse in question doesn't add or remove anything from the point I'm making. |
