Christian counselling is not by personal experience. It's by the word of God and by the holyghost. The idea that a single pastor can't counsel married people is unscriptural. Those who who wrote about marriage in the bible were singles.

Toluxa has a point, but I think he used the wrong language and scriptures. Firstly , people can't come out of the church because the church is one body. But inside the church, there are Walls of doctrines and denominations. And what I think he wanted to refer to. Those walls have to come down, we are all coming into the unity of the faith.

Let me ask one question. By what standard will men who didn't get to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ be judged?   Faith? works? a combination of the two? the OT Law? The Law written on their hearts? Their conscience?

That's different , the question was about cornelius salvation. At what point did he get saved. The answer is simple. He got saved when he received the gospel preached by Peter. Of course he was a good man ,devout to the Jewish religion,seeking God with good heart. But with all his religiosity, he was not born again. Been born again is not about making heaven. It's a change of spiritual state in the now. A man receiving eternal life. If cornelius had died without meeting Peter . He may have futuristic salvation after judgement . He good and the bad will be weighed . And he may be saved if damned. But the christian won't go through that judgement.

remember the direction of your focus at the opening of the thread. Which suggest that a man can be saved by learning the lifestyle of Jesus teaching without receiving the Jesus life. Morality saves no man . Because people of other faiths have moral values. And that's why people get the idea that you are preaching salvation by works.

It's possible, Osisikanku used charms inorder to disappear whenever he touched a leaf and was immune to bullets. However he was killed by the police when his charms failed him and he was shot.

I have met couple of guys who had charm against bullets. It worked. But it expires with time. Satan doesn't have lasting protection. But if the juju could work. God can do much more through a christian if such need arise.

It’s wrong for any child of God to continually seek deliverance, as some do, moving from one deliverance session to the other. I’m aware however, that there could be certain young converts who due to ignorance of the Word, could be oppressed by satan. They need the knowledge of God’s Word on how to exercise their authority in Christ and say “No” to satan’s manipulations.

God couldn’t have made a new creation that’s subject to the devil. Rather, He made us superior to the cohorts of darkness, giving us power and authority to cast them out (Luke 10:19, Mark 16:17). It’s only the man or woman that’s ignorant of the Word of God that goes about seeking to be delivered from satanic bondage. This is one of the reasons you have to be a functional member in a thriving Church, where the Word of God is taught, believed and lived!

When you know the Word for yourself you’ll be able to tell the devil off, and keep him in his place – under your feet. Get to know the Word and apply it to every area of your life, and you’ll always operate from the stand-point of victory.

The character thing has nothing to do with calling. Thats not what determines who is a minsiter. God doesnt call people because the have perfect character . That doesn't take the fact away that a minister ought to be example in everything good character inclusive. It is part of The responsibility of ministry for a man to puritfy himself as vessel unto honour.

when God talked about "touch not my anointed" he did not mean the immunity of pastors and leaders in the church from gentle rebuke.

That scripture is based on spiritual principle of honour for anointed ones. "do my prophets no harm" ask yourself ,Are they all prophets?He made a generic statement based on spiritual principle , that does not take away the specifics.  That's a man that understand the anointing . Even when someone else claimed to have killed Saul , David ordered the mans death for only one reason he "touched" the anointed.

14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the Lord'S anointed? 15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the Lord'S anointed.

So " touch not the anointed" is based on spiritual rule or principle.

.  by the time the pastor says "god " said he should leave his wife, you know that it was the devil controlling him by that time and should you have stayed so that the satanic anointing will rub off on you?

A prophet can miss it, that doesnt mean he was under demonic anointing. If a man makes mistake in prophecy, he needs correction and not condemnation.

So by the time the pastor comes with such prophecy that seems unscriptural. They ought to have asked him to look at it from the bible. And ask for explanation. Asking in humility "sir, this is what the bible says on this issue, but this thing you said seem contrary to my understanding of scripture, pls can you clarify this scripturally " If the man would say "oh ,I didn't know the scripture says that, im sorry ,thank you" or he says "To hell with your bible"

That is not deviating from faith . He hadn't denied salvation nor the lordship of christ. He was merely dealing with deception. I may not even use that word until i hear  his own side . Im only takikng based on genersl principles .But the point is , he hadn't deny Jesus as lord, he could have been deceived into an error and there is room for restoration.

The only thing i felt went wrong was the fact that they had meeting with the wife without his consent and he felt slighted. They should have gotten a fellow minister to to talk to him ,if discussion had fail. But discussion could only have failed if he argues with truth of the bible.

We don't give up easily on people that way in the kingdom.we restore and not destroy.  He wasn't the first person to have missed God in prophecy. Samuel missed God once, but he corrected himself. So missing it, doesn't mean he is out of Gods plan. Besides before we give dangerous advice we should ask proper questions. I would have loved to know what specific allegations the pastor levied against the wife.

And we should know also that ,there are grounds on which divorce can take place as a last resort. For example if a man ministry is at stake by the marriage. And if Christians divorce, they should remain unmarried. Or be reconciled .

Even a kid can keep this simple command of God that the sons of Levi are the ones that can take tithes from the people. So why can't pastors with all their anointing obey this simple command. Watch out that those tithes advocates who will respond to my question will start a debate which is their deceitful way of deceiving their gullible followers.

It sure has everything to do with it. The old testament reference he gave had to do with tithes and offerings.

Since the tithe belongs to God, if a pastor accepts it isn't he stealing it from God?  Can someone just appointment themselves to received God's tithe?

The pastor is not actually consuming tithes. It belongs to God. And the same way , tithes and offerings were used to run the affair of the temple . And welfare of ministers is only a part. Money given in church belongs to God. It's not pastors money.  Most pastors actually have their jobs and business and some few that are not allowed of God to do secular work are put on salary,Which still has to be approved for them by elders or G.O . According to the structure of their churches. It doesn't mean that the pastor collects tithes and spend on himself . The church money does not belong to a pastor. He is a steward.

I'm not sure that's excactly what that scripture is saying. That we should give part of our earnings to the poor is not the same as saying we work for the sole reason of giving to the poor. It's saying that when we work, we have enough resources to give to the poor. But it also means that we have enough resources to do other things, including providing for our family, which the Bible says those that fail to do so are worse than infidels.

You are adding your own interpretation now. We work and make a giving, we recieve a harvest. We live on harvest. The first thing God gives us is opportunity to sow seeds.

The danger in this kind of interpretation is that people continue to give endlessly to church programs and neglect other uses for the money that God has given to them through work. No wonder, many of such people continue to struggle in life and do not see any or commensurate results from their giving as promised by the pastor.

Are yo now saying that the word of God is a lie. That giving doesn't have a harvest? It's either the word is true or not. What do you say?

Finally, I don't know if I'm the only one uncomfortable with the fact that virtually every time the message of giving is preached, the scriptures often cited are those that relate to giving to the poor. But when the message is concluded or offering is taken in church, the message's focus and application shift to giving to ministers and the church. If we truly believe these scriptures, we'd apply them as they exist: Give to the poor, weak etc and you do not have to channel it through the church. I've never seen such emphasis in any church. Instead, giving to the poor is mentioned once in a while, while giving to the church and ministers is mentioned in every service and even outside the service.

I hardly hear a minister talk about people giving to him. Even though it's there in he bible and nothing is wrong with that. It's something most minister avoid so as not to be misunderstood. If a minister talk about church project and other things ., it's a right thing. A real minister is the number one giver many pastors these days work ,do business and make money . They as Christians put their money into the gospel as well.

There are different kinds of giving . Giving to the needy is only one of them. If someone address the issue of giving generally and mentions different kinds of giving , what is the fuss ?.

Will you quarrel with the bible? Why are you guys always afraid of money? Is money a God to you or a servant? Did the post say you should bring the money to CEC ? Why are you worshiping money so delicately like this. It's only an inStrument and a tool to serve God .

Their are obviously some minor errors in the copying of some verses especially with numerals etc. That doesn't take away the inspiration behind the bible .

I missed this part

I had written a book on his exploits which a publisher had accepted because it is a very unusual story. What do I do with this book? Do I tell the publisher to go ahead and publish even though I don’t believe in what I wrote anymore?

It's ok to publish . If it's in good light. And the testimony can be of inspiration to others . But since the person is still alive, you may need to get his consent.
