Christianity EtcRe: The Training Of The Spirit - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 7:40am On Aug 18, 2011

@Joagbaje
I am sorry why should the pastor make the congregation stand  huh  Where is this in the bible ?
Where in the bible? That's funny. A pastor gives spiritual instructions. And the bible tells us to obey. For example. "LET US RISE UP TO PRAY" " LET US LIFT OUR HSNDS IN WORSGHIP" " LET US SING THIS SONG IN WIRSHIP" "you may be sitted" etc these are instructions . Are you saying you don't have instructions in your church? grin

The pastor is to feed the sheep not to LORD it over them.
You're right but what has it got to do with ma post?

And it is not the pastor who decides how long you pray to GOD, it is between you and GOD.
You said you attend deeper life. If it's true ,then your post doesn't make sense. Because I've heard the deeper life pastor determine when prayer is to end by shouting "IN JEEESUS NAME , WE PRAAY" and every body praying stops. I'm nit criticising him . That's leadership.

There are people who pray for weeks with no answers to their prayers because of wrong living, there are those who are obedient to GOD and a 1 minute prayer resolves the matter.

God is not after repititive , long prayers like the pharisees, but he is looking for holy men and women who live in obedience , fellowship and LOVE.

Please leave man made doctrines behind , yOUR LORD should be JESUS CHRIST and not MOG.
huh  huh huh
Ns waooh. What meant all these?

Dont just throw words around. can you prove it scripturally? I'm not against charity. I do charity. And our churches do . But it is not the assignment of the church. The assignment of the church to the world is the preaching of the "Gospel" . Any other thing is extra. You can't demand it of the church or blame the church for it. Churches may do charity, build bus stops and bridges but it's not the assignment christ gave the church.

There is charity in the church though. But the charity work in the church is for the members primarily. Any extra thing churches do in the society should be appreciated and not criticised.

we used to have a yearly programme CRC (Charismatic renewal conference) there were so many miracles, manifestations and demonstrations of the spirit. It attracted people from different parts of the world . The crowd grew so fast every Year beyond what our property could contain, That's why the programme couldn't continue , till we have enough space.

Now here is the con:
Chris and co pays the woman a pittance, arrange for her to get some medical attention and then staged the ridiculous bullsh#t you turds call a miracle.
I believe you were there and you saw  these facts of yours?

The miracle?
The man walks up, drops the woman at the altar while yelling, "this woman is dying" and Chris( why the hell does this jackass try to speak with a foreign accent) rebukes him and tells him to lay his hand on her chest and say, "you shall live in the name of Jesus". He does this and the woman with rashes and a swollen face (that has magically turned to near paralysis and death grin) jumps up and down and says she is healed while the audience goes wild and praise their god.
That's a miracle in the name of Jesus dude cool

Acts 3:7-8
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

I guess this was rehearsed too.

Yes, your IQ has to be below a 100 not to see that this is a con job. Since you say I am spiritually blind, spirituality must have a negative correlation with intelligence; at least when it comes to black people.

Na me talk am!
then what's church for,
To raise a people unto God by the preaching of the gospel.

Although some churches do some charity work but it's just too little and the impacts are not being felt in the society
At least they tried, they did something. What have you done personally is the question now.
Christianity EtcThe Training Of The Spirit - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 9:36am On Aug 17, 2011
. . .Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come John 16:13

Jesus said in John 14:26,

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

The Christian life isn’t possible without the Holy Spirit. At best one can only have a nice religion without Him. The Holy Spirit brings the power of God into your life. He’s the one who nudges you from within to go and pray, and reminds you to study the Word. In your times of prayer, He brings words into your spirit, in other tongues, so that you’re able to commune with the Father in a holy heavenly language only He understands.

Always listen to the Holy Spirit. Often times He trains us to recognize and obey His voice. In the army, soldiers are drilled regularly, not because there’s war, but because they’re being prepared for war. They’re being trained to become tough and to learn to take orders. That’s the same way the Holy Spirit trains you. When He makes you do things, don’t ask “What’s the purpose?” He’s looking at a larger picture; He’s getting you ready and prepared for the future He has for you.

Sometimes while in church, the Pastor makes everyone stand up; don’t complain that he’s making you stand again and again. That’s not learning to listen to the Holy Spirit. You may not know, but He’s training you to endure hardness as a good soldier. You may wonder why your Pastor makes you pray for a long time, but it’s the Spirit training you to learn to stay at the place of prayer. There’s a training process in Christ, and you have to ensure you yield yourself totally to it.

Prayer

Dear Father, thank you for the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in my life. His presence is the greatest blessing I could ever have, for He is my advantage and the secret to the glorious and successful life. I yield myself totally to you dear Holy Spirit, to fulfill your ministry in my life and manifest your glory through me, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study

Acts 11:11-12
And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

Acts 16:6-7
Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia, After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

Romans 8:14
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

How do you know what every church is doing? besides the church s not a charity organisation. The primary calling of the church is the preaching of the gospel. yet many churches still go out of their way to reach out to the less priviledge and supporting them. you dont know what every church is doing. everything is not publicised.

Christianity EtcRace Of Life - Pastor Chris by Joagbaje(op): 5:27am On Aug 16, 2011
. . . . Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. (Hebrews 12:1).

There’s a race of life, and everyone is involved in that race, whether or not they know it. In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul said,

. . .“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

When he said, “I press toward the mark for the high calling of God in Christ Jesus,” the Greek word translated “press” is “dioko” which means to run swiftly so as to win a prize.

Not only is it important for you to know that life is a race, it’s even more imperative that you know how to run your race and run it to win. Your race is the destiny, calling, or purpose of God for your life, which you must fulfill. There’re many who live without discovering the purpose of God for their lives let alone to fulfill it. You must do all you can to run fast, because the time is short, and the adversary will do everything to frustrate you from reaching your goal.

In our opening scripture, we’re admonished “to run with patience”; that means with painstakingness, stick-ability, constancy and endurance. It reminds of the Spirit’s admonition through the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:58:

Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

What is that thing the Lord has called you to do? Commit your whole being to it. Let your heart’s cry be to fulfill God’s purpose and plans for your life. Run your race to win. Like the Apostle Paul, run with a purpose. So that at the end, you too can boldly declare, “I have finished my course, I have kept the faith,” and then receive the crown of glory from the Master.

Confession
Blessed Lord, I thank you for giving me a purpose and a destiny; I’m running swiftly to win the prize of the high calling of God in my life, shaking off every hindrance, in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

Further Study
1 Corinthians 9:23-27
And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

2 Timothy 2:5
And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
