Lordave:Without any prejudice, I think it makes sense statistically to do analysis in manageable bits...2-yr periods or 5-yr periods especially where the numbers are very large. To go as far as 17 years is looking for 'trouble' in my own view. There'll be so much data to work with that analysis may no longer make sense. |
I'll rate him 8/10. Not that he couldn't score better but like someone above has said already...he gave topic answers in some instances. Could be the little time he's had to deal with the very bad situation, could be a lot of work in the pipes he doesn't want to talk about too early, etc. |
Royalty1:If you truly understood why you voted and campaigned, then you'll be a little more patient. If you've been in charge of a near bankrupt company or even a healthy one for that matter, you'll understand how difficult it is to immediately turn around and start producing results with new policies. Truth is...the expectations of Nigerians from Buhari are unrealistic. They're near impossible! We told people that the fuel queues will return...the problem is fundamental and cannot be wished away no matter Buhari's good intentions. Nigeria must evolve by process not by miracle. Development is a process of building not a new toy you can just purchase from the market and suddenly upgrade status among friends. God bless Nigeria. |
neolboy:That's exactly what he wants so he can shout witch-hunt as the reason he didn't perform for his people. Otherwise, full page advert for what? Waste of his peoples' resources. He should remember campaign is over until 2018/2019 |
megaik:LASTMA got their vehicles some months back and they still keep the windows rolled up, intact. In just one day, officers are rolling down the windows like who send. |
sniperr007:I think you're wrong on your second paragraph. The APC, as opposition won a lot of grounds through the courts. I think it's the same carrying on (but I may be wrong). I suspect the PDP skipped a whole lot of procedure in doing things as the ruling party. Did things that can hardly stand court scrutiny...ugly things. Again, this is just my opinion and I may be completely wrong. |
Eboh4z:I agree with you 100%. One of the first trainings will be to conduct a proper driving test and licensing procedure for the operators. |
isuomo:Are you sure? He was barely a year out of secondary school then. For his age grade and pls permit me to say socio-economic class, at what age do you think folks finished secondary school? Some 15, others younger, but on the average it was 16 years of age. So how is that surprising? |
Elhabeeb1:Very true. I went to secondary school with him and the evidence of his age is very abundant...recent history. Same school as Wande Coal though he was quite junior by some years. Anyone in doubt can do the research and stop jumping to conclusions. |
RedCapChief:Can the supreme court take up a matter by itself? Can any court for that matter? Does Fayose understand the duties cum roles of the AGF. He is the Chief Lawyer of the Federal Govt, Sir. He has a duty to advise a parastatal of the FG just like your company lawyer would advise on crucial legal matters. |
adaweezy:Well good move but... The BETTER move would've been to invite the Minister for Power, Works and Housing to commission the road (that he built). Now that would've mended bridges! |
A lot of people look at headlines and react without really reading or looking further between the lines. PMB has very qualified people to run the Ministry of Finance (as well as other ministries) so look beyond just the Minister...there're a lot of competent hands in there. Check the profile of the new permanent secretary, Mahmoud Isa-Dutse (PhD) and tell how together with Adeosun, the two of them can ever get it wrong. |
1. Read criticism, 2. Take a deep breadth, take a walk 3. Come back to your sit, write the response, 4. Sleep over it, or wait some hours, 5. Pick up your write-up and read all over, deleting all the venom in there 6. Think strategic response Good points will be scored in the end |
mbhs139:I wonder when these strategic communication experts will learn their lessons. The same objective could be achieved if the Commissioner wasn't defensive but appreciative of the criticism. "Acknowledge that the Economist has a right to their opinion (which is simply what it is), thank them for it and then provide these same points as the TRUE FACT of the situation in Lagos". Ahn ahn...Kayode Fayemi-style when he lost the election in Ekiti. When will our publicists learn? |
Well...Thank God for the Economist. The writer wouldn't have put out all these information even if we already noticed a few ongoing reforms. A number of local media outlets had raised close to same issues prior to the turnaround in traffic situation last week but we didn't get this reply. Lesson...Criticism is part of Governance. |
Bend the rule it should be. There's no way the President is bending his FEC nominees to wishes of senators instead...especially opposition party senators. PMB will only work with those he's comfortable with...not people that state senators are comfortable with. The constitution only requires that all states have membership in the FEC...I doubt it says they should be 'men-of-the-people'. Ask a question...what is the sole benefit of Amaechi to Rivers state people if he hypothetically becomes the Minister of Education (like Nyesom Wike)? Are Rivers people any less educated? For all you care, the people in some (less educated) Northern states will benefit more from him. The era of 'Minister brings the 'goodies' home by all means' are over. All Ministers must now fix the problems where they are most critical...not just put up a 'chop I chop' appearance at their respective ministries. |
twoondei:It won't be in their interest. Baba already has permanent secretaries steaming on with the work. Then, it's unlikely the portfolio will be included so they may not know who's getting what. This means it will be harder to frustrate a generic screening exercise. |
190theclown:Hmmm...missing the big picture? Who controls the space that allows your boss do the business that lets you get paid? Who controls the excess money available to your boss (or his company) that allows him make decisions about hiring (or firing) staff? Tax, Law, Policy, Business environment regulations are all instruments of the Government to regulate the space called Nigeria. Except, of course, you do not live in Nigeria. As a citizen of the US (and perhaps other countries), it doesn't even matter if you don't live in the country, you will pay tax as long as you carry the US passport. This is one of the reasons the US govt can account for all their citizens anywhere on the globe. |
The Eagle is Nigeria's National Animal and is present in a lot of national emblems including the 'coat of arms'. |
Idrismusty97:Be aware that the Eagle is Nigeria's National Animal. It's not a coincidence that our National Football Teams are called the Super Eagles, Green Eagles etc. |
BurningIce: Watz d problem wit all U haters?Good player no doubt. But like someone said, don't bother yourself, this is marketing for FIFA. He didn't even make the FIFA/Castrol Index Official Statistics Top 10 Players or Team of the Tournament http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/players/index.html http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/statistics/castrol-index/ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup/10954258/World-Cup-2014-Premier-League-players-fail-to-make-Fifa-Castrol-Index-team-of-the-tournament-so-far.html |

ketoprofen: M bro, na so we see am ooo. Tinubu, head of ACN, thinks he can seperate these small small acts from his true personalities.......and the possible xtics of APC. The devil (GEJ) we know indeed.....'Waitee'...Do you know of a certain Permanent Secretary (public office o) earning pay in absence from a certain state at the heart of Nigeria's creeks? Do you know who the Nigerian President is (and the kind of power he wields)? What power has the constitution bestowed on Tinubu, please? Why is he so much talked about and feared? Na political mystery...Politics 801. Many stalwarts in PDP will do all sorts to wield so much power out of office (cos they instantly become irrelevant once they leave office). It takes much more than bragging. You have to read hard (include some Machiavellian texts as well) be strategic and be vastly intelligent. |
pekelepekele: political age . fashola 50? who will believe thatThis guy is completely verifiable. He's been in the private sector and private practice all his life until about 2002 when he joined BAT's administration. Don't just be there doubting. An excellent life story can truly exist...just believe. |
Rooneyboy: I guess this is his political age.Hard work in politics makes politicians age quicker. Browse Fashola's pictures when he came into office 6+ years ago (incl. when he was Chief of Staff) then you will understand the explanation from @bar7man. Also compare how Obama looks today to what he looked like in 2008. Even GEJ is not looking as young as he should though the explanation fits the earlier guys I mentioned more. |
fyneguy: I laugh when PDP apologists criticize Tinubu for this while keeping mum when Patience Jonathan was made Perm Sec in Bayelsa, ditto for ACN loyalists. Nowadays, it's wrong when the opposing side is doing it while we excuse the side we support for doing similar things.By the way, it stokes a lot of interest (reason or hatred) how he does it. Any 1d10t can install his family members anywhere when he's the No.1 man in Nigeria but to do it 'smoothly' without the slightest political office power. That really is admirable in any political landscape (for serious-minded politicians only pls). |
touch_me_hard: Tinubu really wants to be in charge of Lagos State by all means. He has his men here and there holding strategic positions in Lagos Sate Government. Let us just see how this plays out. Na dem dem.Become a politician first...and see how it really feels. |
Katsumoto: Something ACN folks dont understand is that Tinubu is tolerated. The hatred for PDP is what pushed folks to ACN. Particularly on fashola's godwill. The apathy some folks have towards politics has helped ACN. If the die is cast, folks who may have stayed at home may come out and vote against you. Perhaps ACN folks need to be reminded how Tinubu's wife was losting to the labour candidate before the election was cancelled. It's better to make an effort than not...against ACN or not. Come out, vote and put your money where ... |
Desola: You say it well and very well exampled by the emboldened. If we can make firm presumption that jonathan has a hand in jang becoming the "chairman" of the governor's forum, why is it so difficult to accept that Tinubu must be an influencing factor or the "influencer" in making his own daughter the iyaloja? Why are evil perpetrated readily acceptable when it comes to gej but not where tinubu is concerned? The fact that BAT is dreaded this much while not having any 'official' powers as the man you compare him to, is the sole reason why he remains BAT...and very much relevant in Nigerian politics of today. |
donchris999: Have you now tacitly agreed that it is all political and not hereditary or royal rubbish as you have been trying to make us know hence your " politics is not a business of saints". So, you know all this while that Tinubu is not a saint and you see Gej in your dreams just because you want him to be a saint. Trust me, this will be the beginning of the end of Tinubu, unless, yorubas want to toe the path of kwarans who are backward and antiquated in their thinkings.Never ever try to put words in the mouth of a grown man! |
