Sant1m:
The ignorance of people is pissing me off, have you ever heard Manufactures Association of Nigeria(MAN) complain that the high price of Dollar is driving them out of business? No,,, because it is to their advantage. They can now compete in price with importers. PMB is fighting to build local capacity and growth yet most of us are ignorant about this. What PMB is saying look, i will not deregulate, we will keep funding local MAN and all those who wants to import raw materials and machinery from the official market at 197, for those who ve the desire to import wine, tomato paste, yatch, planes, school fees etc go source your dollars yourself at 340 or above. Devaluation means NNPc will be importing at 340 and this will lead to increase in pump price, demand for salary increase, Fg and local manufacturers paying more for salaries, high inflation, importers having the advantage again and pricing MAN out of the market, loss of jobs and the country staring the circle over again. People should stop listening to Times, CNN, Blomberg they can and will never desire we become self reliant and produce at home, it is not to their Govt best interest.
Nations that took the leap make hard choices, it comes as a deliberate ploy to favour local manufacturing over imports. Its unfortunate we no longer support or look at things objectively. PMB is right on this. If truly the price of dollar at 340 is not to the advantage of local manufacturers why is it that the price of imported items or goods have not risen in proportion to the rise in dollar at the parrarel market? Simple, they want to still compete in pricing with local manufacturers. If this is sustained most of them will ve no choice other than to go into producing those items here, thereby employing Nigerians. That is PMB's desire.

To add to your expose. For those who have genuine business to do with dollars (e.g. paying for school fees abroad), they can still apply for dollars at the official rate of NGN199 to $1 plus bank charges. I'm a living witness to this. So why are so many people complaining?

Meanwhile, as the Naira drops, purchasing power reduces and salaries aren't increasing.

People become poorer.

But who really needs the dollar if not for our over-reliance on imports. The South Korean Won changes for 1,225 to $1. Do you think they're suffering in South Korea?

Why cant you guys fight corruption while simultaneously trying to balance the economy?
What would you do if after fighting "corruption" and then you look up and realize that there is no Nigeria to govern.

Concretely balancing the economy would only come after the Budget 2016 has been passed. There's a constitutional limit to spending outside of the Appropriation Act, which is what has been going on so far. So urge the NASS to clean up that Budget 2016/send it to the Executive for clean up and pass it as soon as they can. Only then can we set the government in motion.

After some time in the absence of an Appropriation Act...the ceiling of spending will be reached (also called Government Shutdown). Remember USA?

OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BUHARI #3

Dear Sir,

BETWEEN US, WHO IS A CRIMINAL?

It is with utter dismay and unfeigned consternation that I wish to succinctly albeit humbly, express my displeasure and disappointment at your constant ridiculing of your countrymen and your obvious disdain of them.
Your derogation of their personae before the international community has sadly become an embarrassing characteristic of your maladministration, and by extension exposes the insecurity and low esteem you have of yourself.
Isn't it sad, Mr President, that you cower behind the tattered cloak of blames to hide your inefficiency?
There's an adage that says that when you point a finger at someone, the remaining four fingers point back at you.
Whoever comes to equity should come with clean hands.
This rule of nature, you have failed!

Mr President, in light of your recent character defaming statement before the international community, I'm forced to remind you of your disgraceful and crime tainted antecedents.
I humbly ask Mr President, between you and I, who is a criminal?

---Who crated Umaru Dikko with the help of an Israeli anaesthesiologist and attempted to smuggle him into Nigeria, but was caught at Heathrow Airport?
---In 1984, under whose watch did the Emir of Gwandu enter into Nigeria with 53 suitcases whose contents where unknown till date, after the borders were closed?
---Who married a 9 year old as a wife?
Between us, who is a paedophile and who is guilty of child abuse?
---Why did a trustee member of PTF, Captain Usman Jibril resign under your chairmanship?
---Who gave his brother-in-law's company, Ahmed Salihijo, contract to take decisions for PTF under his chairmanship?
Who employed his relatives as PTF consultants?
---What happened to our $2.8 billion (currently valued at over N650 billion) under your watch as PTF chairman?
How did our money disappear under your watch till date?
---Can you give sound reasons for your reluctance to probe Halliburton scandal?
I assume that when you said Nigerians are criminals, that included your wife?
Could it be that you suffer selective amnesia in your anti-graft war with regards to Halliburton scandal because your wife is implicated?
---Who lied about his certificate?
Where is your certificate Mr President?
---Who had only 150 cows and N1 million, yet bought presidential form of N27 million?
---Who declared assets of only 150 cows and N1 million before elections, and after elections, declared assets of N30 million in U.B.A and a palatial home in Abuja valued at N2 billion?
---Can you give account of your stewardship and missing monies when you were NNPC chairman?
---Who declared Nigeria broke, yet budgeted billions of Naira for purchase of new vehicles for Aso Rock?
---Who declared Nigeria broke and promised economic diversification, yet signed the release of N40 billion for oil exploration in the north?
---Under whose watch did our budget go missing?
---Who presented a budget that failed integrity test in the legislative house?
Mr President, can a person of this questionable antecedents claim to be a saint?
Isn't it a shame that a person with such embarrassing and disgraceful portmanteau is a president?
What moral justification does a president with such repugnant, repulsive and abhorrent pedigree have to point fingers at regular hardworking Nigerians and call them criminals?

Mr President,
I am Lawrencia Chioma.
I am a graduate with sound certificate.
I am a Linguist.
I am a communication expert.
I work with an Insurance company.
I am a writer.
I read, research and think as a hobby.
I earn my wage.
I work hard for every dime.
I have a clean slate.

Between us Sir, who is a criminal?

I'll be back!!

Lawrencia Chioma is the original writer of this post!! Any other person claiming originality of this post has committed plagiarism!! Let's respect our intellectual works and stop behaving like criminals that Buhari called us!!

Lawrencia Chioma...a linguist that struggles to read and understand plain English?

Education / Re: Education: Why South-west And North Should Be Worried by Joarams(m): 10:20am On Feb 09, 2016
naija8080:
I'm more worried about yoruba. They almost came last. Can you imagine that Boko haram troubled states like Borno and Adamawa are ahead of a yoruba state? I can't believe this.

To completely understand the dynamics, you need to factor in the number of children from South-Western states who no longer take the WASSCE exam. I believe there's a small but rising number of kids taking foreign exams as a substitute for WASSCE in the SW. Kids schooling abroad, the sub-region inclusive, and the likes also decrease that percentage.

With all that said, there's also something called the "optimum effect" which may explain low trends in the SW.

I stand with faleke. The Judiciary will redeem his mandate soon

You stand with Faleke of Lagos (House of Rep) OR Faleke of Kogi (deputy Gov to Audu)? Where in the two situations can he lay claim to the Governorship? On compassionate grounds or by moral code expected of his party, APC? Faleke has no statutory right to the Governorship...he was only a potential deputy. The claim that the initial election was conclusive is unfounded...this Supreme Court that has upheld all INEC-approved elections so far will not do otherwise in Kogi.

The most logical beneficiary you're looking at is Idris Wada of the PDP (in the case where a Supreme Court decision removes Bello as not validly nominated by his party, APC).

It's a shame a lot of people (you know the groups) still can't make the effort to learn the correct names of their leaders.

Some of us try...we correctly learnt names like Alamieyeseigha (even gave it Alams, for short), Lokpobiri, Amaechi (as different from Elechi), Okorocha (as different from Okocha), Kachikwu (as different from Ikechukwu), Akpan (as different from Apan), Muhammadu (as different from Mohammed), etc.

For your information:

The Vice President of Nigeria (acting President until Feb. 10th) is Prof. Yemi OSINBAJO i.e. Osi-N-bajo (not Osibanjo, not Osunbade)

Haba! But you're jumping to conclusion. The issue was a pre-election matter to determine the rightful candidate of the PDP. The new people declared are still of the PDP. It's a very similar case to that of Amaechi in Rivers State (2007).

Relax! I believe time will tell what Buhari is now offering this country...a new lease of life for institutions of govt to run smoothly and professionally, with minimum interference (of course, we're not deceived that there'll suddenly be zero interference).

Interference comes from anyone, not just the head, it's a bad culture that has been ingrained, where an individual, because he/she is highly positioned in government thinks he can tell others how to do their jobs.

If Yahaya Bello is disqualified, the only beneficiary you're looking at is Idris Wada of the PDP. James Faleke is just whipping up sentiments that should have been resolved within the party. It's a shame that almost everyone reading this post is commenting the same way. Since when have we lost the act of reading and understanding constructs in this nation? or are we merely being sarcastic? Are we simply looking for an excuse to nail the APC and its chairman? My understanding of the statement is clear and I don't see how he blames God. It's a simple statement of retrospection. To me, saying that 'God' has a hand in the current economic situation is no different than saying 'Nature' has a way of correcting its mistakes...e.g. as Malthusian theorists accept.
