Politics / Re: APC Should Take Over INEC And Other Institutions - Oyegun by Joarams(m): 1:23pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
The headline suggests nothing...doesn't make sense. Oyegun is a sound personality and he understands what he's talking about. However, APC should be advised to take it easy. |
Business / Re: Dollar Scarcity Pushes Naira To 352 by Joarams(m): 12:48pm On Feb 17, 2016 |
Sant1m: To add to your expose. For those who have genuine business to do with dollars (e.g. paying for school fees abroad), they can still apply for dollars at the official rate of NGN199 to $1 plus bank charges. I'm a living witness to this. So why are so many people complaining? 2 Likes |

Politics / Re: How Osinbajo Ruled Nigeria In The Absence Of Buhari by Joarams(m): 12:07pm On Feb 15, 2016 |
Dudeweedlmao: Concretely balancing the economy would only come after the Budget 2016 has been passed. There's a constitutional limit to spending outside of the Appropriation Act, which is what has been going on so far. So urge the NASS to clean up that Budget 2016/send it to the Executive for clean up and pass it as soon as they can. Only then can we set the government in motion. After some time in the absence of an Appropriation Act...the ceiling of spending will be reached (also called Government Shutdown). Remember USA? 3 Likes |

Education / Re: Education: Why South-west And North Should Be Worried by Joarams(m): 10:20am On Feb 09, 2016 |
naija8080: To completely understand the dynamics, you need to factor in the number of children from South-Western states who no longer take the WASSCE exam. I believe there's a small but rising number of kids taking foreign exams as a substitute for WASSCE in the SW. Kids schooling abroad, the sub-region inclusive, and the likes also decrease that percentage. With all that said, there's also something called the "optimum effect" which may explain low trends in the SW. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Yahaya Bello Appoints Achuba As Deputy Governor by Joarams(m): 9:58am On Feb 09, 2016 |
Montaque: You stand with Faleke of Lagos (House of Rep) OR Faleke of Kogi (deputy Gov to Audu)? Where in the two situations can he lay claim to the Governorship? On compassionate grounds or by moral code expected of his party, APC? Faleke has no statutory right to the Governorship...he was only a potential deputy. The claim that the initial election was conclusive is unfounded...this Supreme Court that has upheld all INEC-approved elections so far will not do otherwise in Kogi. The most logical beneficiary you're looking at is Idris Wada of the PDP (in the case where a Supreme Court decision removes Bello as not validly nominated by his party, APC). |

Politics / Re: Caption This Picture Of Amaechi Buhari And Osibanjo by Joarams(m): 2:49pm On Feb 06, 2016 |
It's a shame a lot of people (you know the groups) still can't make the effort to learn the correct names of their leaders. Some of us try...we correctly learnt names like Alamieyeseigha (even gave it Alams, for short), Lokpobiri, Amaechi (as different from Elechi), Okorocha (as different from Okocha), Kachikwu (as different from Ikechukwu), Akpan (as different from Apan), Muhammadu (as different from Mohammed), etc. For your information: The Vice President of Nigeria (acting President until Feb. 10th) is Prof. Yemi OSINBAJO i.e. Osi-N-bajo (not Osibanjo, not Osunbade) |
Politics / Re: Ekitigate: Aluko Is A Liar – Ubah Reacts To $2m Offer To Fayose by Joarams(m): 6:25pm On Feb 01, 2016 |
sammhi: 6...including the burden of proof, if verified? Crosschk your non-partisanship sir. Ever heard of separating the messenger from the message? To me, sorry, he's more believable now than earlier...he knows he'll be arrested and jailed (for which he declared on TV that he's ready). What does he have to gain by coming forward now? He sure knows he's going down but he's looking for company. It's called not going down without a fight and I believe he has found company. |
Politics / Re: Ekitigate: Aluko Is A Liar – Ubah Reacts To $2m Offer To Fayose by Joarams(m): 6:17pm On Feb 01, 2016 |
"I would have loved to give Fayose money, more than what he mentioned but I didn’t give any money. But if I had given him the money it is no one's business." Then I believe you gave him the money...by reverse psychology. If you would have given someone more money than the law (or at least moral inclination) approves, then you've got some serious issues of impunity sir. |
Science/Technology / Re: Ajaokuta Steel: Time To Break The Deadly Conspiracy Surrounding by Joarams(m): 5:34pm On Feb 01, 2016 |
Op...I'm interested in joining a cause to move this forward. We're also currently making contact on the issue with the Minister. If you have a team of concerned parties, we could probably join. I believe you've taken the first step to escalate this with the President. The VP is another good point of call. Did you copy his office? We've been in touch and surely he can situate this properly. 3 Likes |
Politics / Re: Anambra PDP Senators Sacked By Supreme Court by Joarams(m): 5:19pm On Jan 29, 2016 |
ProfessorPeter: Haba! But you're jumping to conclusion. The issue was a pre-election matter to determine the rightful candidate of the PDP. The new people declared are still of the PDP. It's a very similar case to that of Amaechi in Rivers State (2007). Relax! I believe time will tell what Buhari is now offering this country...a new lease of life for institutions of govt to run smoothly and professionally, with minimum interference (of course, we're not deceived that there'll suddenly be zero interference). Interference comes from anyone, not just the head, it's a bad culture that has been ingrained, where an individual, because he/she is highly positioned in government thinks he can tell others how to do their jobs. |

Politics / Re: Kogi APC Leaders Celebrate Late Abubakar Audu - PICS by Joarams(m): 6:06am On Jan 28, 2016 |
resty4: Highly improbable sir/ma. If Yahaya Bello is disqualified, the only beneficiary you're looking at is Idris Wada of the PDP. James Faleke is just whipping up sentiments that should have been resolved within the party. I doubt any competent court would hand him a verdict for an election he never held the leading ticket...except Audu Abubakar is declared winner of the election (something that is highly unlikely). |
Politics / Re: God Has A Hand In Nigeria’s Present Economic Challenges — APC by Joarams(m): 10:23pm On Jan 22, 2016 |
It's a shame that almost everyone reading this post is commenting the same way. Since when have we lost the act of reading and understanding constructs in this nation? or are we merely being sarcastic? Are we simply looking for an excuse to nail the APC and its chairman? My understanding of the statement is clear and I don't see how he blames God. It's a simple statement of retrospection. To me, saying that 'God' has a hand in the current economic situation is no different than saying 'Nature' has a way of correcting its mistakes...e.g. as Malthusian theorists accept. |
Business / Re: N50 Stamp Duty Imposed On Bank Customers By FG by Joarams(m): 12:51am On Jan 20, 2016 |
lofty900: First, read your laws to reduce (but you can still maintain) your protests sir. Valid protest...but a law is a law. Are you aware that's there's also a law on petrol tax? Again, that hasn't been implemented like this Stamp duties Act. I'm looking forward to a day petrol tax law will be implemented rather than rebuilding toll gates on Federal Highways. |

Soon Nigeria will be setting the pace for the continent, telling our brothers what was discussed and how sub-Saharan Africa in particular should respond to Global Energy affairs. Feels good! |

A lot of European countries have standardized stuff like this. Compare food crates for vegies and perishables in grocery stores...they also look alike. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Appoints Muhammad Abdallah As NDLEA Boss by Joarams(m): 5:29am On Jan 19, 2016 |
nickxtra: I don't see how this is the case. ..do a simple probability test if you're math inclined and see how many times the 'North' will come up b4 your own familiar tribe. The North is the largest group in Nigeria (19 states to 17 states) but also arguably the most diverse people. We in the South have a stereotypical way of thinking they're all the same because of a unifying language. This is false! Imagine a Northerner saying that Itsekiris and Yorubas are one cos of the similarities in name. 1 Like |
