Do u recall how long it took Ighalo to start scoring for us? I heard Onazi is still active, I bet his experience and leadership is also required for our young midfielders. |

2 Reasons Why Nigeria May Be The First African Team To Win The World Cup Competition Next Year
opera.com The desire and prayer of every team are to win the World Cup which is regarded as one of the biggest football competitions in history. In recent years, we have seen top European teams win the World Cup completion, but an African country is yet to win the World Cup.
The World Cup has mostly been donated by European countries and South American countries. Examples of some of these European and South American countries include Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina, and others.
Next year, the World Cup competition would return to our screens as top countries from different parts of the world would be hoping to win the completion. Among these countries, one African Country that may likely win the World Cup is the Nigeria national team.
The Nigerian national team may likely emerge as the first team to win the World Cup competition next year due to 2 reasons. Check out the 2 reasons below.
1) Front-Line Attackers
The first reason why Nigeria may be the first African team to win the World Cup competition is due to their front-line attackers.
The World Cup competition which would begin next year would feature one of the best attack-line which comprises Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, and Paul Onuachu. All 3 players are currently among the best strikers in Europe as they are doing very well for their team.
The combination of Iheanacho's shot power, Victor Osimhen's burst-up play, and the strength of Paul Onuachu may likely cause problems for their opposition which would be a boost to the team.
2) Defensive Strength
The second reason why Nigeria may be the first African team to win the World Cup is due to their defensive strength. Nigeria has a very strong defense as the defenders are currently doing well.
The solidity of the defense is also a result of the presence of one of the best defensive midfielders in Wilfred Ndidi. Overall, the defensive strength of Nigeria may likely be key to Nigeria winning the World Cup competition next year. |

So you mean we should respect their wishes just because we have enough strikers who are scoring goals left and right for Nigeria? You just made my earlier post valid. The issue now is not about respecting their wishes. Club football does not IMMEDIATELY translate to national football. Remove Osimhen, you have Onuachu who took him matches and matches to add to his tally of goals for SE. Over two legs in the next WC qualifying round who can you count on if Osimhen does not provide goals? Read my earlier submission again. AndSunGorilla: Vicmo and Ighalo retired voluntarily, let's respect their wishes. Had it been we were misfiring and suffer a dearth of attackers like we have for midfielders then we can have that conversation. However at this point for attackers, the problem is even which to field out of the array of talents at our disposal. |

Thanks for your input. I had already came to the same conclusion somewhat. ChrisKels: You are wrong, though one can never rule out that he learnt a thing or two from him which is rightly so, as his predecessor but Osimhen has always been this physical and mobile. I can recall his games for our youth sides even when he was neither a super eagle nor was ighalo an integral member of our squad. I remember the rescue mission against Lybia at the U23s, I still remember vividly his one on one physical battle with hard tackling Mali’s Abdul Karim Dante(adjudged the most physical player of the 2015 World Cup). Despite osimhen’s thin frame, he owned Dante in that final and came out with a goal and some great efforts that ended up on target. That final alone made me make up my mind on the boy. |

Yes I agree TFLASHOGEE: well i will take it as integral stages of introducing him to gel and understand how national team football work's and honestly he never got really good chances on the field of play then so I won't really judge him with those performance. |

Well, Osimhen had already picked up in Belgium in the 2018/19 season, but did he get enough run of games in the NT at that time period? When he did, was he effective for us? modified well, I can see that was when he had injuries. TFLASHOGEE: you aren't wrong my brother Victor himself mentioned ighalo as one of the players he looks up to while growing up so it possible he learned something from him during their time at afcon as ekong mentioned it in one of is video that ighalo use to tell victor he should keep working hard his time being the first choice striker will come and that was at 2019 afcon, but most people don't know this but will be happy to paint ighalo bad |

For a game like Egypt, they want to give us just Bassey. We cannot risk not having Balogun early enough, and even Aribo who is now really warming up into the team. [MODIFIED] jihday: Rangers have already contacted Rohr begging him to allow them have Balogun and Aribo for the old firm derby to be played on the 2nd or 3rd of January |

Someone should please tell me. Those who have been following Osimhen's developement. Has Victor always been this type of physical player who brings a lot to the team even when he does not score? Look at his time in Wolfsburg and Belgium. Something tells me something just clicked in him when he understudied Ighalo. Or maybe I am wrong. |

When it gets to the next round of WC qualification players with more experience who are still active and performing can prove to be the difference. They may not be necessarily better than the current players in the team but they can bring that extra thing that may be crucial. After our qualification is sealed I do not think we need Ighalo. You guys should not forget that Rohr will not change overnight. As long as we have a coach like Rohr, we would need a little more individual brilliance in the team. Our WC qualification is far from being sealed. The next round will be very tricky.
Modified,
Don't expect Sadiq to come to the team tomorrow and make an immediate impact. They would need a little time to grow into the team. Awoniyi showed potential in that game against CAR but did not score. Moffi has not scored despite a couple runs in the team. That is what I am talking about. Ighalo can come tomorrow and make immediate impact. No stage freights, no pressures at all. For him, it is familiar terrain. We will have two legs after the group stage, and we would need players that can guarantee qualification. There will be no second chances.
Modified(2) ADD VICTOR MOSES
Modified(3) I would trade Musa for VicMo in a heartbeat. No sentiments, no disrespect to the former. Ahmed Musa remains an SE legend if you want to go by his exploits at the WC and more. But he can no longer give it. When a player cannot compete favorably with the new players, it already tells you his time is up. |

So what's his excuse when we are meeting an underdog. We want to be humble? zuchyblink: Rohr loves to trick his opponents into underrating his team but I don't like that strategy |

I remember when Osimhen was getting invitation by virtue of special young player tag. Do you guys remember, during Rorh's early days with the team? I think Amoo can come in to train with the big boys. It won't hurt us. joelsteron: I personally believe there is a room for Amoo in terms of exposure and training with the big boys. I still feel he can Iwobi and Chukwueze's position perfectly. |

I have no issues with Ighalo coming in as an impact player especially at this qualification stages. But I think the player we really need is Victor Moses at least for another couple of years. Kog45: Sir it seems you are getting it wrongs. The issue is not about Ighalo benching Osimehn cos Ighalo of today cannot bench Osimehn and I want to say it without sentiment that level playing ground,Ighalo will find it tough to play ahead of Awoniyi,I might sound funny for saying this but that's my opinion.
Rohr is the coach and he said he want Ighalo back,no issue, everything stop at his desk as a coach.
Osimehn,Taiwo,Onuachu,Moffi and Ighalo,no lele,na the same eagles. |

well said sir! Kog45: I remember Keshi press conference with journalists before Cote d' voire match Afcon 2013...he said I have Mikel,Enyeama when people were saying can your team beat Cote d'Voire team with Drogba,Yaya Toure.
Rohr just need to improve on his press statement when meeting better team, well what can one say about a coach that is ready to call Ighalo back despite having two good strikers doing it very well every weeks in Europe top five leagues.
Initially the World always see Nigeria as a very arrogant team cos we don't give a damn even if you have Messi and Ronaldo combined in a team but now that confidence is no longer there...the team just need that mentality back. |

One thing I like about Oliseh. Only if we can have a consortium of coaches (each handling a special role) consisting of players from that "94 set. Think Emanalo, Adepoju, Amuneke, Oliseh (if he can work with a team), Siasia (not thinking of his current predicament). in these coaches and a few others, there is a scout, a tactician, an analyst etc. And why do I say this? Simply, BELIEF. These coaches can translate their "you can beat the best" mentality to our current players who already look up to them. They have done this before in the past when we were one of the best in the world, and today they still don't have an iota of doubt that we can do better things beyond Africa. For them it will be unfinished business. https://www.hub-soccer.com/2021/06/21/sunday-oliseh-nigeria-has-the-potential-to-be-a-world-champion/12large1: He has normalized this defeatist statement towards the players that fans don’t even reevaluate the jargons that he just voiced. First of all, I am not saying that SE present squad is comparable to any team on the world stage. But, in Africa our squad is good enough to challenge any team and our coach should stop downplaying his team publicly in form of motivation. The only luck that Rohr has, is that he has met all his contractual target thus far
