Top players in their respective leagues. Please break it down for me what was their actual status at the time. Again Westerhof built that team after several years. Himself and Bonferere gave us a beautful playing style. And we vanquished African teams with ease especially at the later years in charge. Komekn, some people here have opined that that team is overrated and they made valid points. Based on individuality at the time were all those players you listed really top players in big leagues? komekn: Big difference the players we had then were top players and top players in their respective leagues and clubs.
Consider
Olise Jjay Finidi Yekini Amokachi Ikpeba Amunike Sia Sia Ekoku Adepoju
None of our current strikers are better than Yekini, Ikpeba , Amokachi None of our wingers are better than Finidi Nobody pass Jjay and Olise or Sia Sia Okechukwu the defender no get mate for the current Eagles
Westerhof had very good reason to tbe very confident.
I am sorry but Rohr is just being real. |

okay my brother.. I go bookmark your post fabyom: Even if we draw tomorrow and against Cape Verde, we will qualify cos Cape Verde cannot beat CAR 3 nil!
We are winning the AFCON! In the last edition with 2 of our star players injured, we still got to the semi-final!
Player for a player, no team in Africa is better than us when all our players are available!
I watched the whole qualifiers, only Algeria's attack scares me a bit! Bennacer, Brehama, Islamini, Ounas, and Mahrez! Real quality! Others are average! |

See if you can find a clip of Nigeria vs Bulgaria in USA '94 I watched on Youtube just last week. I remember the commentator quoting Westerhof in that encounter. Modified the only team Westerhof believed could cause us problems was Brazil (the eventual winners). He believed we could beat any team. Going forward we should only employ coaches who have a pretty good track record and can see a huge potential in Nigeria. Ppogbae: Did anyone see Amaju's pep talk with the boys? He urged them to win so they can avoid Morocco and Algeria . Someone has been reading my advice here lol.

make una calm down. opinions are allowed. opinions does not necessarily mean they will materialise. I said Nigeria will not win AFCON, it doesn't mean they will not eventually. they could win, but I don't think they would win. If someone says Liberia will beat us, na the person get their mouth. It's not like it can never happen. No one would have thought CAR will beat us at home. But it happened. So let people say whatever, wetin go happen go still happen.

What are his objectives? And what is your definition of failure here? JohnBullMySon: No bro. Wait for Rohr to justify his sack by missing his objectives. Not to be chanting "Rohr is clueless" everyday because of a few matches. He has a contract that he hasn't failed in. |

yea when his tactics are wrong the players should work magic.. I no understand this your logic. If we should go by what your are saying coaches should sign life contracts. JohnBullMySon: Individual brilliance right ?
I no be Rohr fan oh, but the energy wey una dey use yab am, use am to dey praise am when eh do well oh. After all, there will never be a time when Rohr will kick the ball by himself. It is the players playing to his tactics that either do well or badly. Make una no dey biased. |

The thought of playing in Morrocco gives me hope. I am expecting a good game from SE, not because Rohr is good. It's just going to be one of those moments when we will come good. I hope we also play well. My sights are on the next round which will prove to be very tricky. |

I don't see how Rorh has been vindicated as regards bringing Okoye from the 4th division in Germany. Are we trying to imply that if he gave other young GKs that chance, they won't have made that progression? For me, he is young and has room to get better. He has been signed to Watford maybe he can make the progression up. But I don't get all this vindicatory remarks. That he is signed can prove to be a big step, but can also go the other way. Signing to a club is one thing, making the mark eventually is yet another. As far as SE is concerned, he still has a fierce competition in Uzoho, because one slightly better than the other either way you want to go. Neither of them are super, but they are young. If there is something Rorh is seeing in Okoye, I have not seen it yet. Signing to Watford alone does not necessarily mean Rorh saw something that I have not seen. |

so that's what I am saying. I can't put anything past the NFF. some of us here have made the position that Pinnick is in the business of proving that he is working on getting those players. Where proving that you are working comes before doing it the right way. chrisooblog: You are delving into the wider Nigerian anomaly. So many things are done wrong if we start listing them today till next year it will not be exhaustive. |

yea Nigeria is an island. The only country blessed with home grown talents. cromz: Why NFF go dey chase average players. Many of us don’t realize that the best players in the super eagles today are our home grown talents. If you don’t have a Messi/Ronaldo potential I see no reason a player should be chased. If I may ask what have foreign born players done for us? I think Nigerians generally are just obsessed with anything foreign. |

sir let Komekn argue his matter. So what I have alleged here is strange as to the normal workings in Nigeria? Do you also find it strange that people have to buy slots just go get a visa interview at the US embassy? chrisooblog: What you have said is not strange (sadly) but you were humble enough to say you could be wrong however what irritates a lot of people on this thread is when our resident southgate states with certainty and authority something happened whereas the existing evidence doesn't add up. |
