About 5 years ago, there were rumors we were getting a Serbian coach.. From several names two made the shortlist. Then NFF backtracked and went for frenchmen Le Guen. If I remember correctly the frenchman turned down the offer.
The Serbian coach in question was not among the names touted then. But I highly suspect the man they are looking at is the one you mentioned because of his experience in Africa.

You mean Kostadin Papic?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:10am On Nov 20, 2021
yes same coach..
But I just dey predict grin based on the way NFF like to do things.

Philosopher1979:
Did the research. He has worked in Nigeria and coached
Lobi stars, Enyimba and Kwara United before
between 1993 and 2004.
He has also coached African teams like Orlando pirates,
Kaizer Chiefs etc before.
They probably selected him because of his experience in Nigerian and African football.
That is if you are right

Ndubuisi Egbo is a firm believer that there are very good players in several farmers league. So don't expect him to only invite players in the higher leagues if he is given the SE job.

This is what I was talking about my bro.
We need big mentality. If you have big mentality you will always find a way. And we played like we were in the World Cup for business.

Mujtahida:
My people. I'm just watching Nig v Italy at USA 94. So Nigeria just scored through Amunike. In the next two minutes, Amunike is fouled. While he's been attended to, Camera momentarily pans to show Westehof. The commentator now makes an interesting comment
He says 'that is Clemens Westehof, the coach of Nigeria, he says his team are not here to play at the world cup BUT TO WIN IT.

Omo see mentality!
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:54pm On Nov 19, 2021
Let's just make Rohr a SCOUT and leave coaching matter for Matthias Sammer.
Joezinho:
Maybe he was working and hanging on based on promises.. Remember results wasn't this bad initially.

Rohr has done one thing right, he has invited the best crop of players, he has spotted talent when they are unknown and given them a career, he has raised the bar with the standard of players been called up, the heyyous and useless backwater league players like Turkey have reduced drastically. He hasnt taken us to the dark ages where we had the likes of Oshaniwa, Chiogozie agbim, Egwuekwe, Ruben Gabriel, Uchebor, Ebenezer kunle, Uche Nwofor etc in our squad to the WC!!

His biggest sin is that he has showed poor ability in molding a team that plays NIgerian football. Rather than fire Rohr, he needs a Nigerian Assistant that would ensure we play the attacking style of football. Yobo, Salisu the criminal and eguaveon are all dunderheads.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:49pm On Nov 19, 2021
Your first two paragraphs is very apt even if we leave this coaching matter.
This is exactly what I have been trying to communicate to my subordinates. But they will never get it. When you give them more responsibilities, they say you are using them for low pay, instead of them to get sense, do the added duties and beef up their resume. They will just be lazying around and not adding value. This is just the truth in life. Work hard, soak all the experience you can, use that to advance yourself elsewhere, else you are just pulling yourself back in life by complaining and going nowhere.

safarigirl:
If you're working in an office and giving under par performance because the pay is low, should wisdom not propel you to quit the job?

Bear in mind, that every place you work in, is merely an audition for a bigger role, larger pay, a better establishment. So, you put in your best while there, and when you think your best is not being rewarded properly, it is your prerogative to leave while you can still brag, lest all of the work you have done prior loses value.

If NFF no dey pay Rohr well, he should have quit the job since 2019 at most, subjecting us to poor football has not only brought us severe PTSD, it has also caused his own good work early on, to be tarnished.

Do you know a good coach that would never have waited for things to get this bad? Herve Renard is an example. You know a good coach, from the level of mediocrity they are willing to descend to. You cannot pay a decent coach to ruin his CV with mediocrity

Rohr and Ole are in the same WhatsApp group. They are simply not good enough and they never really were.

you know see the similarity between my fake Rohr quote and this one a day prior?

Icon79:
Gernot Rohr has overstayed his welcome, for real. There was ZERO pressure on Ahmed Musa on that penalty, so it was quite an easy goal to score. I mean, we’ve already technically won the match and Musa’s penalty was the last kick of the game. Gosh, even my grandma would’ve buried that one.

And how can he use cold weather as an excuse when almost all our players reside in Europe? Is Morocco colder than Europe?

With all this ratings you dash, I guess SE must have had a good game.
I will have to watch the replay.

Melvinity:
Looking at the positives
Okoye: not too convincing, but wasn't troubled all dat much.. 6/10

Collins: Had a wonderful game today. Pulled some lovely crosses that could have lead to goal! 7.5/10

Balogun: strong defensive display, i would rate him 7/10.

Ekong: After his blunder, and some shaky start, he made some nice through long balls from d defense line and some few defensive duties.. I wil rate him 6/10

Chidozie Awe: Ever Rugged, very reliable in his defensive duties. Bullied some of the opposition attackers. 7/10

Ndidi: A little bit quiet during the first half, made some back passes. Then sprung into life the second half, and drove the balls forward, and made lovely passes to his wing players. 7.5/10

Aribo: Aside his shot on target and some fine interplay between him and Iwobi, he was mainly quiet. Ran out of steam at 65mins mark, but had a decent game. 7.5/10

Iwobi: Today was his best since a long time. He was everywhere. Made some crazy passes. Remains the most creative outlet in the team. Made few interceptions, and was solid all round. 8/10

Igalo: Aside his obvious chances missed! He did created a goal scoring opportunity for Aribo, then he had decent game. Just that he is very slow and didn't pose much threat! 6/10

Osimhen: Deservingly man of the match! 5 star performance from the young man. He won almost all his aerial balls, was a thorn in d flesh in the opposition half! Made few big chances. He had 2 great chances that was saved by the goal keeper and one clear chance been intercepted by the opposition defender that could have lead to goal! 10/10

Moses Simeon: Made some fine movement, and one beautiful turn before making a pass. But his down side remains his crosses that will never get to there destination. But he was solid defensively! I will give him 7/10

Nacho: Could have done better after taking down his man, but he wanted to do too much, and lost the ball in the process. I will give him 5/10 in his camo appearance!

Onuchu!
Onyeka!
Shehu: After replacing Simeon, he made some really good runs, and he wasn't afraid to attack, then went into silence afterwards! Could be d instructions from the coach or Shehu being SHEHU! LOLZZZZ

Na old age they worry this baba.

"Musa came in and scored the second goal, it is not easy to score a penalty especially if you come in only a few minutes so I was very happy about the two changes."

"Morocco it was cold, it was not easy for them to come in, we didn't want to make a mistake at 1-0 and to concede a goal."

There has been talks about Aribo having interests from various EPL clubs. I wouldn't be surprised as he was one of Gerard's top players.

Italy vs Portugal eh? who u dey wish bad thing?

Big Joe, I ain’t kidding tho. They said that Gerard rates him highly and you know he still hasn’t reached his potentials yet.

And by the way, Switzerland just won their World Cup qualifying group, which means Italy goes to the playoffs. How I wish that Italy would draw Portugal in the playoffs grin

we are saying the same thing na.

I tell you say I like am like that? I am just saying the reality. We can only hope for a better coach that will utilize our talents well next time.

Blueelf:
Lol

Bros Joebie

Remember Rohr telling us this same story in 2018 WC? How that our boys then were young and that they were a team for 2022 WC

Well, 2022 WC is around the corner and we haven't seen the improvement. Rather, we have declined

I won't be surprised if we don't qualify but I don't wish for such

But thinking deeply about it, even if we qualify, are we going to the WC to make up the numbers again?

Are we not tired of mediocre outings?

Ghana no get strikers. Even the commentator stated that fact.
We are looking at what a coach has at his disposal and what he can do with them. If all Ghana can do is defend, then defend well when it matters most.
Today, they were very organised at doing that. If it was this South Africa team that played against us they would look like one top team. South Africa looked so ordinary against Ghana.

fabyom:
If it was Nigeria that played this way against South Africa all hell would have been let loose. But here comes some hypocrites praising the Ghanaian coach cos his team won by a dubious penalty. A team that had no shot on target in 90 minutes! Okay, oo!
