Just say you want Collins at LB.

sheyishemba:
Brother rohr congratulations on your well deserved win but needs to make some changes first from the goalkeeping apkeyi should be change for ezenwa and if ezenwa is not fully fit then make we manage our uzoho aina the main should be played on the right next match this will decide maybe he is a left back of right back...in the midfield I think Mikel needs a rest now at least for now this is gonna be the last tournament with him the subsequent one will be with iwobi so he should be given chance coz my boy was superb today in the attack should not be a problem we should play Musa ighalo and kalu then we switch to 3 5 2
with omerou/ekong been introduced Moses on the left wing back role and ndidi and etebo in the midfield and Musa and chukwuweiser terrorising the defense then we're good to go

I totally agree.
gamaliel9:
I think Rohr is behaving himself now...At the world cup against Argentina..he made late changes

Today...the changes came on time

Talking about "real quality", we are still yet to see a team in this tournament that has displayed that upfront. Even Egypt with Salah lacked quality upfront against Zimbabwe. Is there room for improvement? definitely. But it's not like everyone is celebrating. We know we have bigger tasks ahead.

Modified
We have 3 points in the bag. That's the most important thing for now

TheGoodJoe:
Is that not what I explained that people wanted to chew me raw? Missing a chance is okay if the team is creating chances. Not crucifying a player for missing.

Burundi showed intent but lacked real quality. Intent is not the deal but quality to make use of the chances, which saved us.

Good we won but we should not let it look like we were the real deal. There is room for improvement, need for us to know our lapses are glaring and we need to tidy our game quickly.

Nice finish from Ighalo, needs commendation but we need to also know Ighalo needs multiple good services to shine. We need to work on making sure we are creating loads to get the best from him.

Okay Rohr should remain the coach until all these players retire grin
When it comes to a point that Rorh can't do better than he is doing now, we will have to move on. These players play for clubsides. Getting used to a new coach is their way of life.

charlesemeka85:
Another coach will come with a different philosophy which will take the players time to get used to. Na my opinion sha

Like I said the first games are always difficult. I have not started judging the team yet.
There were some lapses, but we controlled the game very well especially in the second half. We showed a desire to win. Of course goals are important, else we will all be condemning the team now.
"Ighalo miscontrolled a pass", but he scored a brilliant goal. Which ever comes first, it doesn't matter. It's a case looking at the glass as half empty or half-full.

I disagree that Burundi did not play to win. They showed real intent going forward from start to finish.

TheGoodJoe:
The comments feel like if it was all rosy. If Ighalo did not make that finish and Aina's brilliant pass, that would have been one hell of a game.

We controlled the game because Burundi sat deep, not because we were overly on top of our game. Even Ighalo miscontrolled a pass that was a good chance.

Good we won but we should notice that we were shaky and made lots of faulty passes and unforced errors. There is a lot of room for improvement and we should know a better side will not be so unforgiven.

If I didn't descend on Ighalo after his performance in the WC, why will I do that in this case?
Oya go find my quote grin
Curtisaxel7:
If it was Ighalo, would you have been this forgiving?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:52pm On Jun 22, 2019
So another coach cannot continue from where he stopped. Kwantinue.

charlesemeka85:
Even if this team gets knocked out in the 2nd round or quarter finals, I will love the nff to keep faith with Rohr. He has his misgivings but the man have really assembled a crop of players that has the qualities to be make the super eagles great again.

Many will say it's just Burundi but it's been long I noticed the cohension and togetherness in this team compared to our previous teams. Also his boldness to throw in young talents in is signs of bravery.

He has stood his ground on the case of local based players in the league by insisting that the countries best players is based in Europe which is the gospel truth unlike our indigineous coaches who believed they can turn an enyimba midfielder to be better than mikel or ndidi. To be honest Rohr have really impressed me since coming on as the teams coach. The future is very bright

He just needed to hit target at least. It's not like that was a very clear chance. He had an excellent game, but that miss.

Curtisaxel7:
Why is nobody talking about Chukwueze's horror miss?. If it was Ighalo grin....
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:19pm On Jun 22, 2019
My top 5 performers:

1. Aina (On point all match long, LOVELY assist)
2. Musa
3. Ighalo (Although a cameo, he scored the all important goal with brilliance)
4. Chukwueze (for missing that chance, else he would be #1)
5. Omeruo

If Rohr could pull Mikel out, I see no reason why he wouldn't drop Akpeyi in the next match
Truidstar:
Igjalo was looking very Confident and Sharp. We got the 3points. That is the most important for me. Akpeyi's problem is his body reacts faster than his brain. Congrats Family. On to the next one.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:12pm On Jun 22, 2019
Burundi played gave all. From defense to attack.

klexycole:
Boss, as you can see, they are playing defensive football and waiting to punish Nigeria on the counter.

Simply put, my point is... They are playing not to concede even if they can't win.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:11pm On Jun 22, 2019
Two different type of players.
But Onuachu had a couple chance to justify his start. If he scored one, nobody would be complaining.

oloriooko:
Onuachu wouldn't have scored that Ighalo's goal that's for sure!

Comot sentiments. Etebo had a good game.
It wasn't Mikel's day

zuchyblink:
Replace Akpeyi with Uzoho, replace etebor with
Mikel. Very happy with chukwueze, iwobi, musa and Ighalo combination

The only good thing about Shehu on this lineup is that he played as a RB several times for his club in the just concluded season.
