FIFA rules stipulates that a player is eligible if he has not turned 20 or will no be up to 20 before January 1 of the competitive year in question.

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will face Guinea Bissau in the First Round of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after they eliminated Sierra Leone on Saturday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Guinea Bissau who won the first leg 1-0 a fortnight ago held their hosts to a goalless draw at the Bo Stadium on Saturday to book a date with Nigeria.

The young Djurtinhos will host the Flying Eagles in the first leg on May 11, 12 or 13 with the return leg to hold in Nigeria a week later.

The Flying Eagles will be hoping to stage a return to the competition after they failed to qualify for the last edition hosted by Zambia.

Nigeria have won the most titles (seven) in the competition having emerged winners in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005, 2011 and 2015.

The side now tutored by Paul Aigbogun are currently preparing for the qualifier in Abuja.

The final tournament will be hosted by Niger in 2019 with the four semi-finalists qualifying for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland.

Yes, that's the case. But Rohr said he would invite 30. I want to believe the stipulation is at most 35.

We are basically saying the same thing.. Since Rohr will be inviting just 30 Players, there isn't really much room for new players, unless we intend to drop the proven ones. However, there would be definitely slots for 2 or 3 new players in the 30 man list to slug it out with the already established.. Hence, there would still be calls by some for the inclusion of this or that in that list. It's inevitable.

Well just so you know, there is no argument I dont follow in here (except for the yabis part)..... if you ask me, the issue of who to invite so as to compete with shirts only started a couple of months ago. Off the top of our heads our starting 11 was somehow fixed, barring unforeseen circumstances and so we kinda went very comfortable for a long stretch until Lukaemia took out Carl Ikeme from the picture, until Mikel, Leon Balogun and Moses got injured at the same time just before the match against South Africa. This call for substitution of players now is a little too late in my opinion. Unless the player in question has got the X-Factor, aint no reason to upset what we have presently. If from the start of 2016 (cos I believe Oliseh resigned in February or so) at the time of contracting Rohr, if he had scouted a large pool of players, then we probably would have known where we are heading long ago. This is where I fault the scouting system of the National team.

Lets also keep in mind that players suddenly started upping their game close to the world cup cos they now feel there is a fighting chance.

But as I said in my post earlier, the Over reliance on starting 11 is what got us here. Nobody wan imagine am say Ighalo dey bench for Iheanacho. In fact if VicMo shows up late for camping, he must start.

Thankfully, the difference between 2014 squad and 2018 squad is that while the former had only starting 11, the latter can boast of a starting 25 albeit discovering more and more daily.

Back to the issue on ground. I say again, this call for new players should be suspended till after the world cup. Like TheGoodJoe once said about having over 100 players in camp and prunning them, while that seems laudable it is practically EXPENSIVE! (although that probably will work in age grade competitions).

Lets see if this good work of Rohr will continue after the Mundial. I sincerely hope we keep him though for the next 4years so he can develop his model to fruition

Before his brace in the FA semi finals, Amokachi was seen as a waste of money by many Everton fans. Fortunately, we were not in the social media era.

Two things you should have taken note of if you really followed the aguments here (or let me rather say my side of the argument):

1. The call for the dropping of Musa, Echeijiele didn't start today. Hence, following the context, the argument was of the idea that Rohr should have made SE more competitive by opening the door to a wider pool of PERFORMING players thereby not making the regular starters and benchwarmers too comfortable.

2. The timing demands that we name a list of 35 players before May 14. This wide list would definitely create room for some fresh players, or like some of you would say "there would be a few surprises".

Today, Germany has a great depth in the team not only because they have abundant talents, also because they demand excellence from all the players at all times - at least that's the atmosphere they've tried to promote. If we'd always had that kind of atmosphere players would know that their making the final 23 requires consistent performance even at club level. However, what we have now is players -- SE regulars inclusive -- making a statement few days to the world cup. The unknowns are suddenly scoring, and even the SE regulars seem to be saying "ignore what they are doing, we can also do it too, if not better".. ya dig?

And I guess what i just said is in line with your last paragraph.

As per inclusion/injection of new players into the team, I would advise we tread with caution. Any player that must be added now has to really really be the missing piece of the puzzle so as not to upset the balance of the team. In fact we have sooo many players right now that can actually give our starting 22 a gud run for their money , but frankly its all about the timing. If this were 1 year ago, no problem! But 1 month to the world cup and we already wanna yank off Musa, Simon because there are players performing better abi? Newsflash! Its world cup season.... Everybody scores! Even Ighalo that was having goal drought scored 4 goals ( although i would av prefered he scored only one and kept the rest 3 for our 3 group games so we can at least have 1 nil win in each of the games.....Na joke O!)


Bottomline, names you never heard before on the scoresheet will start scoring. Check all our worldcup seasons especially the ones we qualified for. Na so so pop pop the net dey shake.

My candid opinion? We include them after the Mundial. Every one of them. If we can have 3 solid like for like teams after the world cup with each player knowing that his jersey aint sure, then we are sorted. Its is this starting 11 syndrome that got us into this mess in the first place. Now we dey beg Enyeama to come to the rescue, we dey pray say make mikel no injure...... God help us

The Tammy i watched against Man utd was solid cos in the space of 10 minutes De Gea had three wonderful saves from him that would have beat any keeper.

Hahaha, remember also that the list is likely to have 5 goalkeepers.

Kayode, Ideye and Nwakaeme are likely to be recalled, Ajayi may have another chance to impress. Dessers and Bazee may also get a look in. But from this lot, Iheanacho and Ighalo stand tall. Those two slots are taken already. The remaining 1 or 2 slots are to be battled for by the other strikers.

It is not impossible for both Kalu and Olayinka to be invited. But saying they deserve a place ahead of Simon and Musa is a No, No for me.

Rohr may invite any one of the two but even Henry Onyekuru that is ahead of the duo only has an outside chance of making the final list. That is a pointer at least.

Rather than adding more wingers to the 35 man list, I would rather add more strikers like Dessert and Noah Bazee. Kayode has been out of the team lately, I would want to have him back. I am particularly not too pleaseed with our attack line. Having a look into some other strikers would not be out of place.

Kalu and Olayinka would be waste of slots for me.

Remember also that Rohr is also likely to add some of the players from the last CHAN to the list.

u don’t have to put it up. Just draft it for your eyes only and come back to tell us ur observation. It seems many of us think ghosts will complete the list. When we make suggestions u turn it down. How many more options do we have out there?

I even had to come down to the second 11. He still couldn't. He then said he was pulling my legs.

He later came up again that he needs New faces that will pose a competitive threat to the starting 11 players. Again I asked him to name those players if he knows any. He mentioned Samuel Kalu. OK. Can Kalu pose a threat to V. Moses and Iwobi? He shifted to Musa and Simon.

He has not provided any solutions to the puzzle he is trying to create.

Yes my point is if you think your bench is not good enough to keep ur starters on their toes never cease looking for that kind of bench, else your starters will feel indispensable and your familiar bench will be comfortable sitting there. To raise the standard of the team there should be a feeling that there is always a position for grabs. Every player will try to put in their best consistently. Any player that have good numbers deserve to be invited to also fight.

At this stage there is no room for a wild goose chase. It is not looking like Kalu will give Iwobi and V. Moses a run for their money in that starting line up.

I am not against Rohr inviting him. Rohr has the final say and knows what is best for the team.

But, I as an outsider, I don't see Kalu as a threat to Our starting wingers. Period.
