Brilliant. There are many things not taught in schools. Because of this excellent post I would like to seat with u and talk about some plan of mine as regards improving Nigeria's education sector. It's time to give back positively so we can truly empower our next generation.

safarigirl:
i am not against education, I am against formal education.

I asked you earlier but never got a reply, are you aware that there are other ways to educate someone without sending them to school?

The problem with both you and supernerd is that you think education is a one-way street.

Okay...you say you want footballers to be better educated, but they don't like schools. What do you do?

Has either of you considered the possibility of taking school to the streets?

Rather than all this " pass exams, get good grades" and all that. Educate them about the careers they want to delve into, organise a thirty minute session if you can, before they get to kicking balls. Tell them of the possibilities that await them, the good and the bad, the legal perspective and the cultural one.

These cases you cite of Iheanacho signing multiple contracts and such, it is not because he did not go to school. There is NO SECONDARY SCHOOL anywhere in Nigeria or Africa that will teach you on how to sign a contract. None!

So, how would his getting formal education in a secondary school have avoided that? Or you think everyone who goes to secondary school ought to know these things? Even University graduates in Nigeria don't know about contracts

Instead of both you and TheSupernerd to be speaking big grammar on one Coach Carter system, I expected you guys to bring up something that can work in Nigeria. How will learning Physics and Biology help Iheanacho to avoid signing the wrong thing?

Educate them, but educate them on things that will help their immediate venture- football. If they feel unfulfilled after their sojourn in footy, then they have the option to further education.

Stop saying people's kids won't be allowed to play football because they can't get six credits in WAEC/NECO...no be University admission dem dey find

Gbam! The best way to learn is actually doing.
tglobal:
You don't learn life hacks in the four walls of a classroom! In fact, most useful education occurs outside the four walls!

Education isn't physics, maths or economics and you don't need to have formal education to be able to manage your finances. All you need is to know your limitations and find experts who can help you and this comes from exposure.

I have heard people talk about US , UK with reference to education and I wonder if they really know what they are talking about. A cursory look at the education budget in these countries or the ratio of international students to home grown students will make the truth clearer.

I will give you a personal anecdote: I worked for 4 years as an analyst in an investment bank before leaving the UK and I found one curious thing: The heads of my trading team didn't see the four walls of a university! they started their careers as boys who were passing trading punch cards in the exchange, mastered it and they are top investment bankers today. In the grand scheme of things, classroom education didnt help them, rather they found their passion, reinvented themselves and they are where they are today.

I make bold to say that what makes these societies tick is specialization. People developing skills relevant to their passion. Why should a Jay Jay Okocha worry about not mastering mathematics when he could devote more time in honing his dribbling skills? Does that mean you can cheat him in business? Certainly not! Why? business skills are not taught in the classroom.

The earlier we do away with our worship of "formal education" in our country, the better for us. Education doesn't begin and end in the classroom, shikena! Advanced countries realize this and they are rewarded for it!

The earlier we helped children identify their passion and support them, the better.

I have so much to say about this matter just not able to type now

Rohr should have made attempts on this guy instead of Bazee. I thought we needed defenders.. At least prioritize. We need solid players not just players oh.

TheSuperNerd:
German Coach Says Rohr German-Nigerian Target Torunarigha Can Be Good As Boateng In Defence

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/image.jpg

Hertha Berlin fast rising German -Nigerian defender Jordan Torunarigha can be as good as Bayern Munich and Germany star defender Jerome Boateng according to his coach Paul Dardai.

Born to a Nigerian father named Ojokojo Torunarigha who played for Shooting Stars of Nigeria in the 80’s, the defender has made giant strides this season, which could spark a war between Nigeria and Germany over his international future.

Torunarigha is reportedly one of the players coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is eyeing to bolster the defence line of Nigeria, although Germany are also keen on the defender representing them at senior level.

Dardai who gave the 19 year old his breakthrough this season at Hertha Berlin believes, he has all it takes to be a good defender as Boateng, if he keep on working hard and maintain his focus.

“Jordan is an absolute pro ready for competition, he is always in the right place in important matches. That was so in the youth team. He is a rough diamond, which has to be polished and then he’ll play properly,” said Dardai.

“Jordan can become one like Jerome Boateng. He reminds me of him in his way of playing. ”

terzurum5:
Red Hot Everton Target Onyekuru Too Expensive For Borussia Monchengladbach – Eupen

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/image-63.jpg

Eupen hot in demand forward Henry Onyekuru who is a target for several teams in Europe, following his goal scoring exploits in what his is debut season in Belgium might be too expensive for Borrusia Monchengladbach.

A club source confirmed to Owngoalnigeria.com, that the Bundesliga side scouted the forward before sounding out the club over a potential deal for the 17 year old, who has 18 goals in all competitions this season for Eupen.

However they were put off by the asking price tag of the Aspire Academy graduate, with Eupen demanding a package close to €15m, a figure that includes add ons based on success and future transfer.

Onyekuru’s valuation put off the Germans, leaving a host of English teams lead by Everton as front runners for his signature in the summer, with Onyekuru also admitting he prefers a move to England.

Already the forward has met with Everton and Southampton with Liverpool the other English team linked with him yet to contact him officially despite their reported interest in him.

Federer and Williams fan.. So cool
safarigirl:
Fine Boys grin grin

For real though...I spent a lot of time with my uncles and guys, they got me interested in football first. There is just something electric about an atmosphere when people are watching football, the excitement, the emotions. It's my favourite part of the game (British commentators are also awesome, they have a way with words that is just brilliant)

My uncle got me interested in boxing recently, didn't care for it until two years ago. I liken it to dancing, I love dancing. to some extent, Cinderella man also helped me like boxing.

Basketball comes second to football for me, afrobasket got me hooked. The dunking is particularly awesome grin

I tried rugby, will simply never understand it. Just looks like a bunch of men on steroids running with a really tiny ball. How they run so fast with all that muscle is interesting though, and how their team mates lift them up undecided

Swimming seems interesting mostly, but I only get to see them at Olympics...dunno why black people don't go for swimming.

Tennis I follow because of the Williams sisters and Federer. The atmosphere is quite boring to be honest, nothing like in football and basketball

There are a lot more, those are the ones that have stood out for me though....I like to know a little about everything however, so, that's my major motivation

I am saying that they pick up news from each other and why will ANS be discussing mad men?

Also, Onyekuru did not go on trial with Celtic while still with Eupen. He expressed his displeasure at the club and refused to play. Even then, many people on this thread condemned his action.

If there was a deal at all, he would not be going on trial mid-season.

Whoever Odey signs for, does not affect me in the least. Our best league players are going to obscure leagues and a person who highlights this abnormality is the enemy. continue..

kpele my sister.
I agree but still disagree with you.
Love does exist but it has to be nurtured to make it keep waxing strong.
"The whiteman" (for generalization sake) falls in love and still has the above in mind.

I think the problem is one's experience changes their outlook. For many girls, just because of a bad experience in the past, they do not give another guy the same chance they gave the previous. This good guy (presumably) now experiences a bad girl with our context in mind. And the good guy now becomes a bad guy to the next.. Really we are all in this together like a chain reaction. the girls who still spend thier money on guys in schools these days are probably those that did not have a bad prior experience. However, the general saying these days is find where the money is first then maybe love later.
People these days are looking for money, their perception of beauty etc above things that are really concrete. And hoping that somehow it will turn out to be love. Love does exist, and that should be the building block of any relationship.. but please oh our football loving forumites no vex.. we have digressed form the topic.

safarigirl:
the black man's problem is both that he can't love. His problem is that he walks around thinking love actually exists.

While the white race has realized that tolerance and understand in is what keeps a relationship going, the black man is still walking around thinking there is some emotion called love that will make you take someone's BS for the rest of your life

Love is a fleeting emotion if it does exist and that is not what keeps you forever. Na wetin make black man dey do waka waka every time, give him small money and he will forget people who sacrificed for him, see Ahmed Musa for reference.

You people have destroyed my belief in anything.

Revealed – The Four Players Permitted By Rohr To Skip Eagles Training Camp In France

https://owngoalnigeria.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/image-68.jpg

Coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has granted permission to four players to skip the Super Eagles training camp in France, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The players include three players who are going to be involved in the English FA Cup final in Wembley with Chelsea taking on Arsenal on the 27th of May, a day after the Super Eagles clash against Island of Corsica.

Ola Aina, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi have all been excused from the camp in France, with Rohr ordering the trio to join the rest of their teammate in Uyo for the Super Eagles AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa.

Aside the trio, Daniel Akpeyi have also been excused from the team camp in France due to club commitments with his South African side Chippa United on the 25th of May.

”We have to consider their clubs as well. So the four players won’t be joining us in France, but they have been directed to report to the camp in Nigeria before the game against South Africa on the 10th of June”, a member of the technical crew told Owngoalnigeria.com.
