EducationRe: ND Holder: HND or 100 Level at University? by jogego(m): 6:31pm On Jul 20, 2005
All that na story. The truth of the matter is wheather you admit it or not, there is a discrimination in the NIgerian working environment against HND holders.

Go to University. You will be better off.

FamilyRe: Husband at Home While the Wife Works? by jogego(m): 1:26pm On Jul 20, 2005
It seems you are all thinking that staying at home means you are not working. In this age and time, there are several people who work from home. Apart from this, you can run a businesss easily from your home.

Hnmmm Idumota, damn Hotangel, you brought some more memories. I used to work somewhere on Nnamdi Azikiwe street, and there is this car park on Martins street( I think) where there are some women who sell Saro rice. That is jolloff rice that has been cooked till its somehow burnt. I remember my Manager didnt like us eating it in the office cos the smell lingers.

But the minute she steps out, we send someone to buy it and rush it b4 she comes. Once she enters, she goes " Talo ti je rice jijona ni ibi" Who has eaten burnt rice in here.

I think the rice is sold in leaves. Remember the leaves used for for making moin-moin

And who remembers the dundun and dodo - fried yam and plantain? The sauce for that thing is hnmmm outta this world

ComputersRe: Linux or Windows Operating System? by jogego(m): 8:10pm On Jul 19, 2005
Just came accross a wonderful program which I would call a yahoo messenger emulator for Linux. It enables voice chating, allows you to see and broadcast your webcam which are generally stuff I miss when using yahoo messenger for linux. It also has stealth settings

Read up on it at this page, and the download link is also there:

http://www.whiterosecreations.nl/linux/#S1.3.6.2.3.

The name of the software is Gyach.

I agree with cimonJ, the atmosphere just cannnot be reproduced. For one, anybody cooking over a gutter would be closed down in an instant. Dablessed, you have really missed. Can you imagine two women, no make that sweaty women, roing amala or guing iyan with the sweat from their brows even adding extra vitamins to the food?

I think I know that place on deptford high street. At lest it might be the one I saw one time like that.

FoodBukateria ("Buka") Food! by jogego(op): 4:02pm On Jul 19, 2005
I have had an overpowering urge for the past week to eat proper buka food. Not the type you get at New cross, I mean the proper amala that as they are preparing it, sweat is falling into it with proper abula( ewedu plus gbegiri) and ogunfe meat.

I love buka food. There was a time, that every saturday saw me at Shitta eating amala. My mother never could understand cos I refuse to eat amala at home. But apart from the amala, I love bukateria rice. In school there was one rice we used to eat, with orisiri meat. It was something else.

I do know that If I go back home, one of the first places am going to go is one amala joint on the way to my house. Every morning about 7 am, you see them killing the Ogunfe and damn does your mouth water.

I chop buka food sotay I chop one special rice for Ikenne, amala for Ibadan.

Feel free to comment and share your buka experiences

I once dated a colleague. Or rather she dated me, cos she didd all the toasting and who was I to say no? I was actually leaving that job for another one so theere was no complications.

We did stay together for a while but after I discovered some stuff about her, it purely became physical on my part, not that she minded though. And I can confirm that all the stuff and wharreffa you have heard about calabar/ akwa ibom girls are damn right. They sure put you thru a wringer. But that isint a bbad thing
