TV/MoviesRe: Any Comic Book Fans On Nairaland? by jogego(m): 4:43pm On Jun 07, 2005
What kinda comics? I was crazy about marvel comics in secondary school. Now I still read comics especially Tintin, Asterix and any othe one. But basically I read any kinda comics. Just remembered Commando comics back in secondary school then. Roy of the Rovers, Buster, Whizzer & chips, Beano read all this in primary school. And in the 70's there was the nigerian ones POP and POWERMAN
FamilyRe: Why do men find it difficult to tell their wives their salary? by jogego(m): 7:15am On Jun 07, 2005
sade:
I think this is an important issue because I still wonder up till now why a husband will not let his wife know his salary.   To be frank, women always find it easy to tell their husbands the amount they earn and majority of men will not.  I'm afraid, is it that we are too demanding or what?

And the funniest thing is that on that day that you tie the knot the pastors used to tell them not to keep secrets.  Or am I getting it wrong?  Is keeping your salary secret from your wife not a secret?
Emmmm, am sorry a beg to disagree with this one oh...maybe in the days past yes, but in modern days, when the home is more or less a partnership? In my own personal experience, i have a lot of married friends and the amount they earn is no secret from their wives.

What you are trying to do is more or less validate ur user input. I dont use pop ups for this cs most people who are security conscious normally disable pop ups nowadays. For now, I normallly do my scripting in ASP and for data validation my codes go something like:

Function Check
Check = False
' Check for Name and password
if len(varName) < 1 Then
%><title>Sport Club:Wrong details</title>

You must enter a Name

<%
Exit Function
End if
if len(varPassword) < 1 Then
%><title> Sport Club:Wrong details</title>
You must enter a Password

<%
Exit Function
End if
Check = True
End Function

This directs the user to a page displayin the error message. If you need any more help, I'd be glad to assist
TV/MoviesRe: Your Favorite Nigerian Movies? by jogego(m): 1:20pm On Jun 06, 2005
My problem with naija films is normally the story line. Editing is at time just horrible and dont even let me go on about continuity. That said, we noget choose. We must continue to encourage them abi how for do? Rome was not built in a day. I tend to prefer the ones done by mainframe productions. They are more sensible and realistic than most of the other ones.
Nairaland GeneralRe: Monthly (Full) Membership Fee: 400 naira or 250 naira? by jogego(m): 12:57pm On Jun 06, 2005
Why would I pay N250 in order to send PM's? I can just as easily send IM's to a member using their MSN or Yahoo messenger ID's. But then that's just me. I always see negatives in things. Except if these details would be hidden from non paying members.

Having said that, N250/month translates to about N3000/year. If my maths is not offbase. I think is a fair enuff price but can some one who pays to browse in a cyber cafe afford this? Dunno. But lets just try and cover all bases
RomanceRe: My Fiancee Left Me for 9 Months and Won't Tell Me Why. by jogego(m): 12:33pm On Jun 06, 2005
dominobaby:
Danasco, from your explanation, it seems you guys are not yet engaged, and so you are not obliged to marry her in the long run.
Even if you are engaged, does that make marraige a must? As long as you have not signed the dotted lines. You can even get into the church and decide you are not doing again. Police cannot catch you. Its better to go thru the embarassment that to go thru years of untold misery. If any so called fiancee of mine should go for even two weeks without any plausible explanation, wo she cant come back and say anything and I cant even believe that you are listening to her. For crying out loud, we are talking nine months, what is the guarantee she wanst pregnant and went away to deliver the baby?

CrimeRe: Sexual Assault and Rape: Test your knowledge by jogego(m): 6:27pm On Jun 05, 2005
Bottom Line is that, having sex without the partner's EXPLICIT approval is rape. Most men believe that a woman says NO when she actually means YES but this is a very deadly assumption, just ask the likes of Etim Esin, Tyson,Celestine Babayaro etc.

Why not?  Why should ladies be wasting time with you if you're not interested in marriage?  Afterall, once they get older you will abandon them and go for the next young thing in skirts.
Very well put

TravelRe: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by jogego(m): 12:48pm On Jun 05, 2005
I really do mean Nigerians abroad. While there are Nigerians who do menial labor, most of them are people who are just settling into the new environment, however, quite a good number of Nigerians abroad are comfortable.
BusinessRe: Introducing NairaEx by jogego(m): 9:12pm On Jun 04, 2005
NairaEx:
There is minimal Identity issues involved with NairaEx prepaid virtual Visa card.
I assume your last statement means that their would be adequate identity verification, if not, what stops this service being used for laundering of ill-gotten gains?
BusinessRe: Security in Nigeria by jogego(m): 7:25pm On Jun 04, 2005
Its such a pity that there is still no security of life in Nigeria. In this age and time? someone can take the laws into their hands and the security operatives cant really do anything about it. Real pity. @ hidden_hunter... I agree, the faster your dad dissociates himself from shell, and show empathy for the contractor, the better at least the contractor complained, it would have been different if he kept quiet and went ahead to use fetish methods. Wish u all the best
BusinessRe: Introducing NairaEx by jogego(m): 7:21pm On Jun 04, 2005
NairaEx:
Seun, you can make all the noise in the newspapers and the stuff will not work. Where is the cards from STB with all the unrelenting news releases? We adopted a viral marketing technic because we believe that a satisfied customer gives the best testimonial and it is working for us while keeping our marketing budget low.

I can send you a $10 Virtual Visa to test in next 10 minutes if you accept to post a testimonial afterwards that the NairaEx card works or not.

NairaEx have the capability to issue Virtual VISA in 5-10 minutes in Nigeria.

Take up this offer and you will get your card in 10 minutes. I only need your Full Names email id and Address( Will be used as billing address).

Am waiting.
Does this mean that you guys wil give anybody this card without any simple or basic form of address or identity verificationhuh? shocked

PoliticsRe: Nigerian Police Installing Automated Fingerprinting Machines. Criminals Beware! by jogego(m): 5:43pm On Jun 04, 2005
Lets not forget that in as in the case of all forms of technology, the result you get is only as good as the input. In other words, GIGO garbage in garbage out.

With a police force that can 'manufacture' statements by suspects;that do not display any form of detective work whatsoever, I would be really surprised if this is not going to be another white elephant project. We hope and pray not.
TravelRe: So Many Young Men in Nigeria Planning to go to the US by jogego(m): 5:39pm On Jun 04, 2005
I think we cant look at this topic without looking at the operating environments in Nigeria vis a vis the develope countries. The infrastructures are just there and taken for granted in the developed countries unlike Nigeria where such things as trains, water, electricity, telecomms etc are a luxury. For any potential entrepreneur with a good and viable business plan in Nigeria, you need to think about generating plants, water, telecommunications etc which add up to your capital cost unlike in other environments.

And I think its about time people need to erase the notion that every Nigerian abroad is doing some menial labor. Most Nigerians have very good jobs, have their own houses , good careers etc. Fine thier are people who do menial jobs but then getting to a new environment, you cannot just expect that things will start on a high for you. Its a matter of knowing what you want in life and deciding on how you will get their.

In any case, if working paying PAYE, NSITF,NHF and other goverment deductions in Nigeria without evidence of how such makes your life better is not a form of slavery, then I dont know what is.

GamingRe: The New Xbox 360 by jogego(m): 2:32pm On Jun 04, 2005
Hence the beauty of open source. I have been using openoffice.org for a couple of years only needing to go back to microsoft office in order to use microsoft access. With the new openoffice beta 2.0 though, there is now a database program that at first glance seems as good as access. As of today, I dont have microsoft office on any of my windows machines, on my linux notebook I run openoffice. And how much does openoffice.org cost? ZERO, ZILCH,NADA, compared to paying close to £400 for a microsoft license.
