Another ebay addict here. Last week, browsing thru ebay, I saw a new trend, a lot of listings say categorically, no Nigerian scam, no delivery to Nigeria. You see a lot of this things but then, its the name Nigerians have. Take a look at www.419eater.com and see 4 urself |

Small time women will be complaining that a man is not treating them right. How do you expect a man to respect you when he bought you? Give her money indeed. ![]() |
what exactly are u asking the elders to comment on? |
Now this is going to make a lot of people angry but as the elders dem dey talk, the truth dey bitter. Now to serious talk. The major problem with Nigerians is that we always celebrate mediocrity. Ever sat down and wondered why Nigerian artistes dont make it big abroad? And am not talking about going to Berlin, Toronto etc and playing to a hall of Nigerians who spray $$ and ££. I mean to actually have radio play, sell Cds and be reckoned with by the international society and not Ghana. Fela did it. Sunny Ade did it. So its not impossible. We have other African artistes well known and respected. Jonathan Butler, Miriam Makeba, Manu Dibango. Granted they all made it happen years ago, but if they did it, artistes nowadays can too. It is in Nigeria that you see someone who has only one song to his name said song released in 1987 or earlier(not mentioning names)and when they call musician, him/her self will raise hand. Now anybody who TRULY loves music will tell you that a lot of the Nigerian musicians dont have any voice to write home about. A lot of them dont even play any instrument, cant even read sheet music blah blah blah. Now this in itslef doesnt a musician make after all I doubt if Eminem can read sheet music. But then he is good at what he does which is Rap pure and simple. THe truth is very bitter and up until we realise that the world is a global vilage and start viewing ourselves against the best in the business, then we wont make any headways. I dont think the problem is with Genieve per se, it is the music industry. How can any music producer worth his salt put Genieve in a studio to record if its not that they want to milk the image and make money. She herself, she no talk true to herself. I know my limitations and will not make a fool out of myself doing what I know I aint good at. FOr what its worth, am sure people close to her listened to the songs b4 release and true to Naija fashion, didnt tell her the truth which is my dear, your singing stinks. Now that is my 2 cents worth. Contrary or similar views welcome |
mosiate:Greener pastures in the sense that people want a place where life is not as stressful as it back home. |
Are you just knowing there are dupes on the internet? Anything u are asked to pay for on the internet using western union, for sure, its a dupe. If its authentic, u are asked to pay with a credit card such that u have a chance to get ur money back. Moral: If it sounds too good to be true, it generally is. ![]() |
Never sit inside your car and open ur boot for police to search, else he's drop a parcel in your car. Never trust any Policeman. |
@ Seun, I think HND_Holder has made a valid point. Depending on the rate of growth of the member base, you should be able to market advertisement to a couple of Nigerian companies. TO be honest, the web is free and when people start getting restricted by payment of fees, the user base will most likely drop off. In any case, if a member has a yahoo ID, I'd probably prefer chatting on yahoo messenger rather than sending pms. In essence, keep up the good work, build up a solid member base, advertise on the web site. |
Below is from Matthew 19 Some Pharisees came to Jesus, testing Him and asking, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason at all?" 4And He answered and said, "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE, 5and said, 'FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH'? 6"So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." 7They said to Him, "Why then did Moses command to GIVE HER A CERTIFICATE OF DIVORCE AND SEND her AWAY?" 8He said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. 9"And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." 10The disciples said to Him, "If the relationship of the man with his wife is like this, it is better not to marry." |

Canada, UK, Australia all use a points method |
emm, how come nobody mentione Half Life1 & 2? |
A bit off topic but really cant see how people enjoy using the new handheld games consoles Nintendo DS and PSP. Personally, the larger the screen the better the experience or is it just me? And rather than spend over £100 for a hand held console, I'd rather spend the same amount on a full games console. |
Basic secondary school economics. Laws of demand and suppply also apply to Labor which is a factor of production. Labor will move to where the remuneration is best. Nothing anybody can do to stop that. It has been and will continue to be. And you cant really blame people for wanting to better their lots in life. Can you? Its not only USA that has such a scheme, Canada,Australia,Germany,New Zealand,UK, the list goes on and on. |
How good the game renders on a PC is limited by the graphic card. For a games console, its built to do one thing and one thing only, let you enjoy your gaming exprience. It is definitely better than playing on a PC. |
Reggae- Buju Banton, Bob Marley,Barryngton Levy,Eek A Mouse etc Jazz- George Benson, George Howard, Najee, Fela,Lagbaja,Sade etc Hip-Hop-2Pac,Eminem etc R&B-Teddy P, Luther, Freddy Jackson,Anita Baker etc Traditional- Sunny Ade, Manu Dibango Never sat down to listen to classical music @ Ra & Seun, I doff my hat to you both. Just dont have the patience to listen to it. |
Why not make use of the vast resources the web provides? Am sure there are members who would be willing to spare time to help develop the forum. Most fora on the web grow over time due to members finding something that draws them there on a daily basis. I think this is a good site to learn about what is happening in 9ja especially for those of us outside 9ja. My advice, keep it going the way it is, dont make too many changes at once, people normally resist change and on the web, if a site doesnt interest users again, they just drift away. |
and what about users outside 9ja? |
Its such a pity that we still have this kind of mentality in this age and time. Why on earth cant we all live and let live? Why on earth cant we just love each other? Why must it be such a problem existing beside each other? Much as I feel your pain, If I were in your shoes, I would just find an excuse not to go. Who knows, if anything should go wrong that day, fingers would surely point at you. Its quite admirable that you guys are trying to bridge the gap. My belief is that life is too short for all this kind of rofo rofo (as Baba 70 calls it). I'm sure other members will come up with some suggestions as well. |
nope I bought mine because it was the best available option One item that does it all usually doesn't do it all and has a single point of failure, for instance say I bought a phone with mp3 playback and the phone died where does that leave me?
Fine point. But for me the major reason for having a dedicated music player is the quality of sound. The sound played by the MP3 player on my sony ericsson through its headset is just not comparable to the sound quality of an ipod. The main Ipod is too expensive but am thinking of getting the ipod shuffle which is cheap @ £69.99.... what I call the poor man's Ipod. |
francisgoshen:What Operating system are you trying to install? Anyhow,Sounds to me like you have a bad installation disk. If you could try the CD on another system, that would confirm it.Or better still get another CD to use for the installation. |

Yahoo messenger also has a voice call facility which I dont think most people know about. In the UK, British Telecoms BT have teamed up with Yahoo to introduce a yahoo messenger which allows you to make phone calls to land lines and mobiles however, the cost of your calls will be reflected on your monthly BT bill see http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com/allnew/btcom.html for further details. I think this shows a large corporation, aknowledging that there is a new threat to its existence and trying to stay ahead of the game. We shall all see how VOIP goes. The lawsuits and whatnot didnt stop P2P or downloading of music and movies from the net and I really cant see how the large corporations can stop this. |
I dont know if this would be helpful, it sure was when I was starting off. Try and visit it and learn about the different technologies available and hey, we all started off somewhere. http://www.w3schools.com/ |
Hi People, just breezed in and seems to be a very lively place with lots of intelligent and fellow minded Nigerians. I hope to have a lot of fun here. |
First thing I noticed is that Opera told me that a pop up was blocked. I dont even bother with pop ups. If you want me to have the information, then dont use pop ups. I also design websites and cos of the security issues of recent, I try not to use pop ups to convey information. Like someone else said, use CSS to get a good feel nd too much images will make your pages load very slowly. I use broadband so speed is not an issue for me, but there are majority of internet users who still use dial up. Another thing I notice in Nigerian websites is the profile thing.I dont know if its just me but is it really neccesarry? |
Mightbe you might think of trying the alternative OS? I run Mepis linux and cant remember ever bothering about updates, or worms or virii. I open any mail without thinking of attachment problems. And Linux has gotten to the point of being as easy to use as windows. If u need any further info, I'd be willing to help. |

The major problem with Nigerian artistes, actors etc is that much like in everything, the nigeiran factor is thrown in. If Genieveve thot she was a good singer, why on earth was she into acting b4? Nigeria is the country that knowing someone gets u a record deal, not the fact that u can sing. That in my opinion is why there are so much second rate artistes in Nigeria. We need to tell ourselves the truth. If we wont, who will? If you can only sing underneath a shower like me, what on earth are u doing recording a CD? ![]() |
