You don't know this people. Their prayers is for everything to fail and collapse so that they can have reasons to blame Tinubu and gloat at the SW. Anytime the government comes up with something good, they must make caustic remarks. All they want is for Hoebee, who came 3rd in the election be installed by force.
I have never seen such saboteurs as those Nigerians that hate themselves, hate where they come from, even animals love their kindred and fight for their territory...most Nigerians have lower IQ than domestic animals...only sabotage and talking tribalism and nepotism dem sabi.

What planet do you live in this era of globalised markets?
You mean Nigeria government of Tinubu will use Market Boards to fix prices of locally manufactured food stuffs but the farmers will buy other manufactured products from local and abroad at the present astronomical prices? Never gonna happen.
Voodoo Ecomomist.
It's in our laws, these global this, global that, it is in our laws...do you know better than Falana and the judge that ordered FG to intervene?

If you don't understand things shut up, okpolo eye no be open eye.

Am telling you now, a judge ruled that FG should intervene because a citizen like you took them to court... people like you are online all day spreading sarcasm, mediocrity and ignorance, while serious people put FG to task. The law envisioned a non chalant political class, that's why provisions are there in the constitution to make them do their job!
Lukewarm people are spat out.
You people are mediocres, just sarcasms and jokes una sabi, dull people...we are talking our constitutional provisions you are talking nonsense. If all Nigerians were like you, the country would have been buried. Docile people.

You want the FG workers to just fold hands and be chopping money without working for Nigerians?
FoodRe: Hardship: FG Moves To Regulate Food Prices by Johnjustice: 6:27pm On Feb 14, 2024
onuman:
Wow! Regulate the price of what you don't supply? Dead on arrival. This Tinubu was never prepared for the presidential position he campaigned for.
The laws have provisions for that, the nation has consumers protection board...they can regulate from whole sale/production level, and the reduction will trickle down. Don't be a lazy head... government can meet farmers board dialogue with them and instruct them against exploitative prices, government can meet manufacturing union, as well as major importers.

Do you people have FG there for nothing?

At least let them work for all the big money they chop.
Falana took FG to court on this issue, and the judge ordered FG to intervene, it's provisions are there in the constitution...this is why FG is intervening... Nigerians be wise, don't talk for talking sake, sarcasms or oversabi, this is not time for jokes, if you don't understand keep quiet, don't use your bad talk spoil things for the movement.

The law provides for consumers protection...it's very easy for an efficient government to achieve... don't conclude on things you don't understand.
FoodRe: Hardship: FG Moves To Regulate Food Prices by Johnjustice: 6:23pm On Feb 14, 2024
Consumer protections board must be functional. There is a reason there is a federal government, federal government officials are not there to chop free money. Citizens must be protected otherwise private companies form caucus and place exploitative prices on goods. FG is not performing at all. Why do we have an economic minister, FG, if IMF dictates economic policies to us all the time. It's a shame.

hansomb:
Maybe without all those interventions the dollar to naira rate would have surpassed #2,000
Very myopic way to look at it. The question should be, why are we depending on the dollar in the first place.

Using IMF advice of floating the naira will be a disaster, because the naira, as it is can not compete with the dollar. Our dollar demand keeps getting higher as our imports volume increase by the day, more Nigerians are into dollar hoarding business, this also increase the value, due to scarcity, as more Nigerians go to school and treatment abroad we demand more dollars...naira has no chance.

The only way is dealing/trading with nations that will accept naira, at least if we cover only 50% of our imports with this arrangement of currency swap/receiving payments with local currency...naira value will quickly strengthen, because our national demand for dollars will drop. We can also start selling crude and gas in naira, so nations go look for naira, this will increase demand in naira, as they will come buy naira from us...It's all about demand and supply.
BusinessRe: CBN Sells Dollars To Banks For First Time In 5 Months by Johnjustice:
All these measures are like taking Panadol, when you need surgery.

Cut off the dollar manipulation of our economy by limiting the amount of dollars we demand by approaching China for currency swap deal, and join BRICS so we use naira for imports. No demand of dollars, no dollar scarcity, the rate comes down compared to naira. Sell crude and gas in naira, so nations go buy naira to pay for our gas and crude...this is how to strengthen your currency and economy...this is why America spends money like water, because nations are busy speculating, demanding and buying their currency, they can be very wealthy off that alone.

We need brave visionary leaders like South African president. He quietly removed his country from the chains of dollar economic enslavement and joined BRICS, South Africa is already far better than they were a few years ago, they have surpassed Nigeria once again as biggest economy in Africa. BRICS will make South Africa prosperous.

It's comical that a nation, with our economic team, minister for economy high flying technocrats, go to the job only to listen to the dictates of IMF huh

We must remove ourselves from this economic enslavement perpetuated by IMF. IMF just asked Nigerian government to further increase prices of electricity, they don't care if Nigerians die of hunger, seems like it's a deliberate plan to sabotage our economy to make us weak.

IMF have never corrected UK against giving welfare to it's people, America subsidize food, pay it's citizens social security money, subsidize healthcare, education and financing for it's people, likewise UK...but Nigerians get nothing from the government, yet IMF want the people strangulated.

I wonder why Nigerians are not engaging on this thread...seems we don't have patriots anymore... everyone wants to hide dollars, hoard it so it gets scarce, then bring out their dollars to sell for a profit. Saboteurs. It's a weak mind, why are we different from citizens of other nations, why do we hate the place we are from so much?

Something is really wrong in our psyche, this lazy, quick rich syndrome of greed has eaten deep.

PoliticsRe: Open Letter To Mr President by Johnjustice(op): 10:24am On Feb 14, 2024
This is the only way, any other way is beating round the bush. Nigerians will keep speculating in dollars because it's profitable to do so, most are even burying dollars in their houses, hoping it increases in value. Cut us off from dependency on dollars. We can get everything we need as a nation in an economy quartet of 7/8 nations, and agree to pay each other in local currencies.
PoliticsOpen Letter To Mr President by Johnjustice(op):
Mr President it has became clear now, that bearing in mind our imports volume increment day after day, due to population growth and reliance on importation for most of what we consume...It is clear that this naira depreciation won't end until you remove Nigeria from this dollar centred international economic/trade model, propagated by the West and IMF, a neo colonization tactics created to keep the dollar on top, by making it the international trading currency.

It's common sense, anything you demand, the value goes up...why can't Nigeria start selling crude and gas in Naira?

This will create a demand for naira, and this will definitely help in the stabilization of it's value against the dollar.

Note: The dollar is only an issue because as of now, all the nations we buy from, we pay in dollars, if we can have a brave president, that will meet China, do the currency swap agreement, join BRICS or form similar trade organization, pay each other in local currencies.

Nothing is stopping us from achieving this now, South Africa showed us that is can be done, when they joined BRICS.

South Africa president made himself a hero by removing South Africa from this dollar domination structure of international payments, by joining BRICS.

BRICS nations pay each other for goods and services in their local currencies and get most of what they need from each other.

President Tinubu please join BRICS or partner with nations that can receive naira, while we receive their local currencies, on goods we buy from each other, this will solve the dollar problem. We are not a slave of America or IMF, we are free to navigate and get better deal for Nigerians. One of the reasons I supported your government is due to your NADECO history, I always knew we need a president with an activist stint, who knows his job is for the people and is prepared to step on toes, to make sure he deliver to the people, please do not let partisan politicking make you forget the sacred creed of activism, the higher calling...of sacrifice, ensuring justice for the poor and oppressed, equity, progres for nation and it's people, prosperity and justice for all.

Africa can not afford puppets leaders in 2024, when people are talking of creating homes in the moon, we must stand and say enough is enough to the West, IMF and their allies, take charge of our economy and destiny.

The federal government should work on real issues, not normal daily bureaucracy and routine, break the chain of neocolonialism, it is not a must that we must import using dollar, no international law forces us to stick with IMF or US dollar.

Sir Femi Falana said this in a recent interview, am using nairaland to buttress it, save Nigeria from this dollar domination or it will destroy Nigeria.
https://youtube.com/shorts/HoO2f_8GoMY?si=d8uYvxkiIjvrTx4e

We are wasting too much sweat, value, resources, for a few dollars, because we accept dollar as our trading currency, a dollar which we can not determine it's supply.

If you people who are leaders can not see this is the problem, then why are we spending so much keeping you people there?

It's sad, so so sad...Southafricans and the world laughing at us, because we can't provide common electricity, but our political office holders are the most paid, with the highest allowance, perks, our political office holders are the richest in Africa, but what services are the politicians rendering for all these expenditure incurred by the nation?
PoliticsRe: As A President, How Would You Have Handled The Current Economy Crisis? by Johnjustice: 10:06am On Feb 14, 2024
Join BRICS or find trade partners that will trade with each other in local currencies, this will automatically solve dollar issues, because most of the dollars we use, are those used to pay for imported goods.

IMF is taunting us now.
Mr President, join BRICS, IMF has no right to be meddling in our nation affairs, when they know our reliance on dollar for imports brought us to this mess. Shun dollar, join BRICS, South Africa will bring us in, or we can form our trade organization with trade partners and pay each other with local currency...what is so special about European imports, that we can't get elsewhere?

Nothing is special, most of the goods we need are in Africa and Asia.
