NPA deals with foreign clients mainly...it's not a local business. But Nigerian transactions, that is transactions with Nigerians staying in Nigeria should be carried out in naira
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Facing Worsening Economic Crisis, Says IMF by Johnjustice:
blueAgent:
It's obvious ,you don't know what you are talking about.

Was it not the IMF that advised The Nigerian government to de -regulate the telecom sector and allow more private investments in all sectors of our economy?
And today the telecom sector is creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs while ,paying billions in taxes and revenue to governments.
Same thing occurred in our insurance and pension sectors

The IMF also advise our government against operating and running those refineries, which is obvious to any honest person that governments have no business operating such businesses.

In the Western world , companies and individuals pay heavy taxes, the sad issue in our case is that, increased revenue through taxation or oil or whatever means, does not mean translate to better governance or standard of living for us, the IMF is not responsible for the corruption of our leaders.

I support subsidy removal and increase taxation of the upper class, if only the revenue would be properly used.
You no get sense, wetin you need IMF to tell you what to do for?

You seem very ignorant and young. Every intelligent person knows that since we started collecting loans from IMF, and they came with all their open borders, trade liberalization policy, this made Nigeria become a lazy importing nation, we got used to being a dumping ground because IMF will force you to open your borders for their American and European exports... Nigeria had no zeal to produce anymore...hence naira started falling from then till now. Check Nigeria economy before IMF came in...we were producing most of what we eat and use and exporting...the naira was one naira to one British pound, in the early 1980s, our economy had real value then, Nigeria went to IMF to seek loans in the late 1980s, since then till now our currency has been falling.

Tell me one benefit of IMF to Nigeria, and don't tell me they asked us to deregulate our telecoms because that is nonsense, we deregulated because it was the thing to do.

Even Sir Falana, one of the most wisest and righteous men in Nigeria, has said federal government should ignore IMF, after all these years even a kid sees the tricks of IMF. This is why South Africa joined BRICS, saving their nation and people's wealth, from wasting away.

Not all there advice is wrong, if considered from the logical and economic aspects.
All their advice is from a point of self interest. They only care about government getting more revenue, so government can pay back their loans and interests. Caring less about loss of disposable income, which leads to inability of the people to demand for goods and services, less investment and employment etc...If you use all your money to buy fuel, pay VAT, what will you have to save, and invest as citizens. IMF is always clamouring for government to demand more taxes and increase fuel price.
BusinessRe: 5 CBN Circulars That Calmed FX Market by Johnjustice: 5:55pm On Feb 12, 2024
FreeStuffsNG:
The CBN’s circular which was released on the 29th of January, led to more transparency and accurate price discovery. This initiative improved transparency of the true level of Naira, depicting unification.

This is the gradual painfully slow but sure banker that naira will soon be appropriately priced for massive economic development.
God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!
No sure banker if we don't reduce our demand for dollars by reducing our imports volume, or looking for international sellers that will collect naira for imports. Nigerians must reduce their appetite for imported things. Our lifestyle and individual changes we make, buy local, use local, and government banning use of dollars as payment inside Nigeria will help.

In summary, the IMF is asking Tinubu to increase government revenue by increasing existing taxes and introducing new ones? I'm asking because that's what I infer from their comment about Nigeria having a low revenue to debt ratio.
IMF is all about getting back their loans with interest, they don't care about Nigeria or Nigerians.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Facing Worsening Economic Crisis, Says IMF by Johnjustice: 4:29pm On Feb 12, 2024
IMF advised us to increase fuel price, increase taxes. Any government that listens to IMF is a stooge, IMF is a private company that is profit driven. Model indigenous economic policies for our home economy.

Ebonyi Governor is more powerful than every Anambra Billionaire who is not Governor. Know it and know peace cool
Stop celebrating anomalies...I bet you there is no glory in licking the ass of governors. Put them to task, to fulfill their manifesto. But you mediocres see everything from the narrow prism of covetousness and grand illusions of grandeur and elitism...while the truth is clear as black and white. We must arise from celebrating mediocrity, especially when we are at the receiving end. Bowing down to the governor means ascribing some power of exclusivity to him, which he doesn't have, he is bound by the laws of the state.

What does it mean to be an Elite?

Underestimate Governor at your own peril. Person wey get power pass Traditional rulers and Oni of Ife and Oba of Benin ?

No be a whole emir of Kano was dethroned by “ordinary Governor” and heaven didn’t fall ?

Governor Nwifuru of Ebonyi state is greater than Arthur Eze and every Anambra man when any visits Ebonyi state his jurisdiction.
Shut up you hypocrites have no respect, this is pure appeasement and eye service, it is nonsense.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Will Become Net Exporter Of Food, Says Tinubu by Johnjustice: 8:49am On Feb 12, 2024
You will need to ban importation of 'unnecessary' food and cash crops. Anything to reduce our demand for dollars is welcome.

The more dollars we demand either by hoarding tactics of speculators and chronic importation of unecesary goods, makes the naira useless the more... Nigerians are spoilt, like to buy imported things they don't need, discourage this. The political class should stop spending dollars indiscriminately inside Nigeria. Spending of dollars inside Nigeria should be banned, dollars should only be with the financial institutions to give to importers of necessary imports.

We must do everything to reduce our national demand for dollars, we can't allow a few greedy speculators, careless politicians and clueless people who want to import everything for their own selfish needs destroy Nigeria.

Nigeria is bigger than dollar speculators, politicians spending dollars, importers and money miss road who spend dangerously on foreign made goods.

Obinoscopy:
Bros calm down and think it through. If you agree that the airline should buy the parts with trading currency which is dollars, where will they get the dollars? They will need to get the dollars inside the country and then use it to buy parts outside the country.
If you read my initial post you responded to...I did not say stop Nigerians from earning foreign exchange from abroad, of course the foreign exchange domiciled with the banks and financial institutions can be sold to importers of essential imports. What am saying is using dollar inside Nigeria, spraying it in parties, using it to spend as a means of showing off, some Nigerians also like carrying around dollars and spending inside Nigeria because you can carry lots of money easily, payment of salaries of workers inside Nigeria with dollars, shops around airports and invoices billing in dollars inside Nigeria, all these should be banned.

Dollars in the hands of Nigerians are being hoarded, causing an artificial scarcity, which is soaring dollar rates upwards.

The reason dollar is rising exponentially against naira, is because lots of Nigerians are collecting and hoarding the dollars, this in itself creates scarcity, and when they is scarcity price increases.

Hope you get my point now that I have broken it down for you.

You're no better than your ignorant president Jagaban, and the blockhead Buhari who preceded him grin

Individuals and organizations need forex to be spent for goods and services outside the country, not inside it.

Moreover, forex isn't just dollars, though USD is the most visible among all of them.

So long as there is importation/exportation, foreign trading and it's ancillary services, govt cannot ban the use of a foreign currency.

It is idìotic to even think about such stuff.
You have no idea what this is about.
Clown some people quote contracts in dollars in Nigeria, some workers get paid in dollars in Nigeria by companies in Nigeria, a lot of Nigerians spend dollars in Nigeria...a lot.

The aviation sector need to replace airplane parts during maintenance, they may also need foreign experts, these things need to be imported thus the need for dollars. Even aviation fuel needs to be imported. That's is to show you the kind of economy we have in this country. An import driven economy. So whether we like it or not, dollar is heavily needed by many businesses in this country. If those businesses collapses, more jobs will be lost and the economic woes continue.
You people should learn how to read...I said ban dollar use 'inside' Nigeria, spare parts for planes are not inside Nigeria, they are outside the country, so if course you buy with the trading currency. Read and assimilate before arguing.
