PoliticsRe: Stop Being Heartless, Fix The Economy, Leave Business Owners Alone – Obi To FG by Johnjustice: 11:05am On Feb 18, 2024
Realtruth2023:
Oga you are the one who is dense and shallow. In the first place is it clever to lock up a departmental store, that stores products which is different from hoarding? Sahad stores is like Ebeano and Shoprite it makes no sense to them hoarding products. Consumer protection board is just like the parastatals in this administration playing to the gallery as usual. Has this translated to reduced price in the market? The answer is No, it is the government policies that have caused the spike in prices of goods and that is the truth that the government has failed to admit.
You are talking like you are a share holder of these companies using fraudulent trade tactics on Nigerians. Let consumer protection board do it's work. You people can not come online to confuse us, you are benefiting from the hoarding and sharp practices, otherwise you will know consumer protections board is there to protect the citizens, which you are a part of. Don't let partisan politics make you loose common sense.

Good2go1:
Fix the economy hoarding will die a natural death, if supply is sufficient and price stable any hoarding will result to lost this will discourage boarding
Hoarding is a crime, those hoarding should be prosecuted, Obi is a selfish politician, only playing politics, he should be smarter than this, not supporting saboteurs of our economy. Hoarding and creating artificial scarcity to increase prices is an economic crime, and we have consumers protection rights in our constitution. Every country in the world have laws against hoarding, creating artificial scarcity and other exploitative actions of business men and producers. The people must be protected, only a criminal business man will support hoarders, and people suffering Nigerians. If advanced nations don't condone sharp practices against their citizenry, why should Nigerians condone it. You know enemies of Nigeria by their comments.

babeface3:
Who hoards? The problem with Nigerians is classified ignorance. You have unleashed the economy on a capitalist free Fall model after removal of fuel subsidy et al and you want to infuse anachronistic socialist principles and expect it to work.

Elementary economics teaches that when there is a shortage in supply, measures, i mean sane measures should be embarked upon to make up the shortage. Conversely, if there is surplus, to save the home businesses and maintain equilibrium, the govt buys off the surplus.

I heard Dangote was summoned to explain why the price of cement skyrockets. This us anti people! This is simply dumb! Who schooled these guys?
You are asking who hoard grin

Then what is the topic about, these Obi supporters though, una leave brain for house?

Did you actually go to school at all? What is the difference between hoarding and storage? Make una get sense small naaaaa.
I think you are the one talking like someone who can't comprehend. The government through the consumer protections board is going after hoarders. Hoarding is an economic crime, economic saboteurs. It's a shame Obi allow politics confuse him into supporting what is hurting our economy.

BusinessRe: Banks Induce Customers On Conversion Of Dollar Deposits To Naira by Johnjustice: 12:45pm On Feb 17, 2024
Speculators and dollar hoarders contribute to dollar scarcity, they are hiding the currency in their account and houses, hoping the value goes up...the president should do something that will scare them to bring out those dollars from their holes and domiciliary accounts.

If you can live like a king in your country, why will you run to somewhere you become a slave? You japa doesn't mean you will make it. There are citizens that are homeless in the US. Nigeria that you want to japa from, some foreigners are coming here to make it. So it's not about the place but the mindset.
Exactly, a lot of foreigners in Nigeria, so go where works for you, don't make it a big deal.

Some people always think everyone thinks and have same aims in life like them... everyone is not in same situation or same boat, this generalization of Nigerians is bad, and nairaland is a free place for them...all these gives bad impressions about Nigeria and Nigerians.

Most Nigerians I know do not dream or talk of traveling out, some travel for holidays and come back... Nigeria is not hell, it has good weather, good food, opportunities, less taxation, less stringent policies on a lot of things you can take advantage of.

Go and sit down somewhere and stop preaching rubbish you don't practise.

For your information, I have actually repaired a road in my community before with my money, so before you respond, make sure you have done something visible before for your country with no strings attached.

BTW, when I decide to leave, I will without looking back

Your useless politicians spoiling the country have dual citizenship and can leave at any time, yet you want me to be the fool building mansion in thin air?
A lot are suffering in the cold weather of Canada, doing care givers, a lot fall sick and die in that desperate situation. My brother if you look at the big picture, there is no fun in slaving your life away just to live, you have to think of something bigger, better... millions have japad, it's not something to bring online, all these stupid topics will make the UK and America government give more stringent measures, as they have done already because of the japa online hysteria...it gives them the false assumption that all Nigerians are desperate to leave, which is false. Japa quietly, it's nothing new, you are going there to work and strive...stop making it a big deal.

Angelfrost:
You can't Japa without serious funds...

With the current exchange rate, Proof of Funds alone will humble you, and make you think more realistically about something else.

Then again, there are those who are comfortable enough to live stress-free lives in this same Nigeria... They live in highbrow estates with solar and constant power supply, and earn far above the inflation meter.

For these ones, it makes no sense rocking that boat... Why chase a theoretical good life abroad when you are doing far better than many people abroad?!!
How are majority of Nigerians in abroad living?

They are still in minimum wage, at the bottom of the food chain, just going through the motions and routine rat race, working to eat and put a roof on their heads, a lot too are homeless living in the streets.

In Nigeria if you want to get good medicine, go to a pharmacy, stop talking nonsense, like you live in one village, leave that village.

Come to Lekki, you will see even white people leave their country dey serve for bars here, go some massage parlors na white masseuse dey work there.

If you live in a desperate part of Nigeria, don't think everywhere is like that, because even in America, UK, Eastern Europe, they are ghettos, poor people and a lot living in the streets.

It's not a must people live from Nigeria.

Just go to another African country, stay there for a while, then use that side arrange your movement
Is that all you came to do in life, going up and down for survival?

What about doing something great, in your country...a lot of people became great from Nigeria, millions of people have japad just slaving their life away, caught up in the rat race. Keep your head up, or leave that village you are to a better part of Nigeria.

ALLNIGERIANSMAD:
Oga money is the reason why 150milion Nigeria still remain here
A lot of very rich people live here, abroad is for vacation, business, shopping. What's the fun in living in a cold region, shitty weather, shitty food, not everyone even like living around white people, different strokes for different folks. Those big men in Nigeria are here because of the good weather, good food, freedom, no discrimination, less taxes, ease of life, if you are abroad you go work till your old age, dey serve white people up and down. Abroad is overrated...it's mainly struggling people or poor people that japa, wealthy people travel, for business, tourism or shopping. Don't brag with that shit, people have been going abroad since BC, nothing new.

Trust me, if you are wealthy and you made your money here in Nigeria nothing would make you want to emigrate to another country cos doing so means you will have to go and start life from ground zero!
Exactly...ask yourself why are they still wealthy people living here, the richest Nigerians are still in Nigeria. Most immigrants abroad are still getting by, not wealthy. I don't understand the foolishness the topic is trying to prove.
TravelRe: Why Don't You Want To Jappa Despite The Condition Of Things?? by Johnjustice: 10:30am On Feb 17, 2024
Try dey use your brain, everyone can't japa, and you gave examples yourself why others like here. Everyone is not you, not wired as you, you don't know their aims and what they live for...seems like an unreasonable topic to me. Ask yourself, why are the wealthy people here?

Hoarders should be chased out of business...in America or UK you can't hoard in order to exploit the people, why do we accept nonsense on Nigeria?

Any hoarders caught should be sued to court and prosecuted.

Price display crime. How can any big supermarket keep up with updating price with a galloping inflation, having such large sales inventory. Who will pay the cost of such resource required for the update.

Take for example cement, within just over two weeks, cement has moved from #5,500 to 5,700 tob7000 to 7400 to 8000 to 8500 to 9000 and now 10,000. Tell me, how can a supermarket with such large inventory size keep up with retagging the whole shop item, more likely the proce will change as they are on it.. Besides you get the receipt that has the prices and you can choose not to pay.

Why don't the govt stabilise fx rate, curb security situation that limits farming activity etc. Why didn't they model the impact of these and prepare for it before removing subsidy and floating exchange fate in the mist of unable economy and insecurity.

What were they really thinking. A case of shooting before you look and blaming the bullet.
We are talking of consumer protection act, the people are the masters, the law must protect the people from unscrupulous producers. If you can't be fair, close your shop.

Any form of price fixing regarding any product that is not produced by govenment is a bad idea. Go and ask the Venezuelans.
Always looking for the worst examples.

So you support people exploiting Nigerians with exploitative prices?

There is consumer protections act and board, if you don't want to trade as a honest dealer, then close your shop. All these enemies of the nation always praying for the worst for this country, what a pathetic bunch.
