Mallamabdul: So happy for this media tour, it's opening up developmental strides of Jonathan. We are witnessing massive evidence of enormous hardwork by a president so maligned and abused in one year of his term
Tell Jonathan to stop listening to criticisms. every president deserves criticisms to sit up. It's petty of him to be so mindful of criticisms. It is the normal thing. He has not even received half of what OBJ received as criticisms. Olusegun Adeniyi said it that a president is like a leader of an orchestra. For you to succeed, you must back the audience and focus on the orchestra

Countryman93:

The major highlights of the tour was the construction of power substations in Wuye and the world trade center in central Business district Abuja. Attached herewith are pictures Of the tour.

The bolded part is highly commendable while the unbolded one is a white elephant project. My opinion though.
Politics / Re: National Media Tour Of Projects In FCT - Day 3 by johnlittle: 1:09am On Sep 24, 2012
Countryman93:

Today, the media team led by Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, inspected the construction of 2 roads viz ;
Extension of Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) from Outer Southern Expressway to Inner Southern Expressway to Southern Parkway (S8/S9. It has 4 interchanges and 3 are concluded. This particular contract was awarded november 2010 at 13.8 bn Naira and is 65% completed.

The team also visited Roads B6, B12 and circle road in Central area from airport to the Abuja National stadium. The roads covering 22.5km and 45 km with 41 bridges are 65% completed.

The truth is that most of these roads mentioned by the OP were not awarded by GEJ. That notwithstanding, it will be highly unfair not to give Jonathan credit for funding the continuation of these projects. Nigeria is where it is today because of abandoned projects so we must not fail to admire a president who resolves to be selfless and continue the projects of his predecessors.

EPOMA: All these projects look like project that should undertaken by a local governmnt in Nigeria, with the amount of money spent in Nigeria , I would expect to see big project like in Barhain, dubia, lebanon in which Nigeria have money more than and spend money more than. A good government does not even need to have a media tour
. Did you see any of these projects being executed by the past administrations? To appreciate good thing dey always hard una.
Politics / Re: New Pics Of National Media Tour -day 2 by johnlittle: 5:06pm On Sep 22, 2012
dedeike: I still maintain that Jonathan's administration is the most underrated in our history.
We have a president who is touching all sectors in one year.
Everywhere something is happening that draws comments.

His power reforms are visible and generated a lot of participation including that of notable opposition leaders. The successful bidders in the ongoing privatization process of PHCN are companies owned by the likes of Tinubu et al.

Ailing power stations abandoned since OBJ days are back and working.

The railway systems are being revived with ongoing work on Lagos-Kano, Kaduna-Minna, Abuja metropolitan railway.
Major abandoned roads like Benin-Ore, East-West, Abuja-Lokoja, Kano-Maidugri have all been re awarded under SURE P.

The Aviation sector is undergoing massive restructuring with ongoing work on 11 major airports/ terminals. Two weeks back, we got news of a NEXIM loan for construction of 4 major standard airports.

I'm happy for the ongoing media tour. It will showcase most of these projects which we have been putting on Nairaland for long.
I challenge the paid agents of opposition in this forum led by OLD GBAWE to come out and let's debate about these projects.

Yet na dem talk pass. If I were Jonathan, their companies will not make it. It's as simple as that.

Countryman93: The National Good Governance Tour entered its day 2 with a visit by the media team to Maitama Extension District, outer Northern expressway, Usman Dam Gurara/lower Usman dam, Kubwa satellite town, Kagini District 1 Abuja North West Phase 4.

The team led by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, was accompanied round by FCTA officials to the project sites.

In line with his transformation agenda, president Jonathan had embarked on aggressive development of Maitama extension which has a total of 1700 plots of high density, low and medium density buildings, covering 231 hectares.

This district was awarded in May 2011 and took off in October 2011, at the cost of 23.65 bn Naira with 100% Nigerian engineers and local content geared towards Local capacity growth. It has a road network of 21km which is under construction by Mangrovetech(a local construction company)

The tour extended to Usman Dam in Bwari where the Jonathan administration
is constructing a 20,00m3/Hr Lower Usuma Dam Water Treatment Plant. The project has reached 96% completion and will be the largest water treatment plant in Africa when it is commissioned by December.

In addition, there is an Abuja water Masterplan. It is designed to supply 80 million litres of water to Abuja residents to avoid water crisis as seen in major cities. Water is supplied through gravitational flow from Usman Dam. Tanks 2,3,4,5 have been done and set, tank 1&6 are 90% completed and will be delivered(tank 1 December 2011) tank 6(2013 April). Tank 1 in Dawaki will supply 40 million litres,Apo will give 40 million litres. Each tank has 4 compartments of 10 million litres each and the distance between Dawaki and Apo projects is about 68 km of twin pipeline which is 80% laid. This project was awarded in 2006 and was abandoned till GEJ stepped in through the FCT minister Bala Mohammed

The media team also visited the outer Northern expressway Lot 1 & 2.
It is a 10 lane expansion road project covering over 20.3 km length.
The project was awarded in 2009 and has reached 85% completion under the Jonathan administration.

It has a 3 interchange structure,Ring roads, bridges, drainages all completed. The street lights have also been completed but are on testing and will soon be energized.

The media team inspected ongoing construction and massive infrastructural development of Kubwa satellite towns, Kagini District 1, Jahi etc. The pictures are attached herewith.

Not all the bridges have been completed ooo. The bridge linking Katamkpe Extension has not been totally completed. I passed there two days ago. They're still working there. @Op, mark it

This is the kind of defence I like. Not the usual press conference thing. If you know you have been maligned unjustly, the best thing to do in order to prove your innocence is to seek legal redress in court. That way, the world will take you seriously

Zutchy: Nice one,I sincerely believe that this media tour could be an eye opener,at least now we can get to see the projects for real and not just talk talk talk.by the way the railway tracks really look sturdy and standard,am looking forward to the completion,in a populated metropolis like Abuja, rail transport will be far much faster and favourable for people to get to work,i hope the route it covers will pass through town. But the question I keep on asking myself is,the Military and their engineers that designed and built Abuja, were they so dumb as to forget to include rail transport in their modern city plans,up GEJ joor.At least with this loan secured from the Chinese I really believe they Intend to see this project completed.
Abuja railway system has been in Abuja Masterplan ever since. It has it's tracks well cut out. It was not Jonathan that designed Abuja Masterplan neither the railways. What this regime has succeeded in doing is the restoration of abandoned jobs. Anyway, they deserve commendation too. It is not easy to continue with some big projects started by previous governments.

Countryman93: The National Good Governance Tour of Projects started with the FCT today. The team visited various projects executed by President Jonathan under the Ministry of Federal capital Territory so far. Projects visited include the ongoing construction of Abuja Mass Transit Railway project, Abuja Airport Road 10 lane project, the National Space Research and Development Centre, New passport office, a rolling stock depot and maintenance base for the Abuja Metropolitan Railway project at Idu Abuja.

The pictures below show the on going Abuja mass transit rail project which will serve as a big accelerating engine that will effectively promote the development of the national economy. The organization and management of the metro operation is systematically planned from Abuja Station to Kubwa Station. A rolling stock depot and maintenance base is designed to Idu Site, providing comprehensive maintenance services to all railway lines within Abuja area. It covers 30.6hectare floor space and 77,297msqr. building area including an operation control centre

It is one thing to start a project, it's another to complete. I will not be in a haste to celebrate this until it is completed.
Congrats to Maku though for drawing our attention to projects in progress.
Health / Re: 1.2m Women To Benefit From SURE-P Health Programme- Agency by johnlittle: 2:53pm On Sep 18, 2012
HNosegbe: Sorry o, but when did primary health care become FG's responsibility? Where are the states and local governments?
Sorry oo. Primary health care is the responsibility of all three tiers. Health issues generally are in the concurrent list hence both states and FG have a constitutional mandate to tackle it.
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency is the agency of government at the federal level charged with such functions.
It predates Jonathan's administration. But the transformation agenda of Mr President has placed the agency in limelight from relative obscurity.
Sometime last month, they advertised in major national dailies the pre qualification evaluation for award of over 2,000 health projects across the federation.
That notwithstanding, they are now charged with the task to implement the SURE P on Health.
Politics / Re: Jonathan Releases 155-page Book On His Achievements by johnlittle: 2:34am On Sep 18, 2012
dedeike: I have resolved to abandon the ongoing EPL match to discharge an overwhelming social responsibility to deliver some people from ignorance. This is a sacrifice I have to make in the interest of nation building.

First, JP PHILIPS.
It is surprising how you wasted all that grammar in writing rubbish. We understand that your assignment of discrediting any visible achievement by this govt is enormous but you must strive at least to make a little sense.

First, it was shocking, to say the least, that you could not distinguish between Excess crude account with SWF. Coming from someone who glories in the style of a Nairaland critic, it was embarrassing . FYI, SWF is an enactment of law. Excess crude account is illegal. SWF is a fund with a board for its management. Excess crude is an illegal account where the three tiers share money from. SWF is created for development while Excess crude is created to be shared. SWF is a universally accepted concept while excess crude account is a local fraud.

Secondly, your ignorance was once again on display when you claimed in the second paragraph that the probes and bio metric exercises amounted to nothing.
It's unfortunate that you guys spend more time blackmailing on Nairaland while the rest of the world watch news.

The bio metric exericise exposed the monumental corruption in police pensions upon which the accused persons including a retired perm sec is facing trial in court . See the following link.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/03/n32-8-bn-police-pension-scam-perm-sec-5-others-remanded-in-prison/

Also, the AIG Committee probe exposed the oil thieves including sons of former and present PDP chairmen who are presently standing trial for subsidy fraud. The link is attached as follows:
http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/mobile/news/55392-alleged-n13b-fraud%3A-ali’s%2C-tukur’s-sons-face-trial.html
The historic and all time record trial of oil subsidy suspects is still in progress in court. It is not the duty of patience Jonathan to convict them. Get that into your dumb skull.

Thirdly, you once again chose to peddle pedestrian sentiments on petroleum pricing and subsidy after much tutorials on that subject. . In your low mind, it's still all about the reduction of price to 65 or the increase of it. Typical of the thinking of a spare parts trader in mushin. The withdrawal of subsidy is a gateway policy to deregulation. In a deregulated market, you don't have to speak English on Nairaland for pricing. The market forces of supply and demand dictates price. Private refineries operate only in deregulated markets. Importation will end. Prices will fall far lower than this your beloved 65 naira. There will be competition. There will be employment for millions. Above all, there will be sufficiency of products.

Fourthly, You laboured in vain to discredit the rise of our foreign reserves under Jonathan to a remarkable 41 billion dollars because of the Nexim loan.
But unknown to you, debts and loans play a critical role in economic development. That is why even the united states has a debt profile of over 16 trillion dollars. See the link.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_debt
Lagos state government under the watch of your paymasters ranks as the highest indebted state in Nigeria. See link http://www.punchng.com/news/lagos-kaduna-criver-ogun-oyo-top-foreign-debtors-list/

Fifthly, I was touched and pitied the depths of your ignorance over PIB. Your summary of the bill was a tendentious overkill.
A bill that has being hailed by all stakeholders in the industry as the first legislation to revolutionize the oil industry in Nigeria. FYI, that bill was formulated by the likes of Senator Udo Udoma and Olisa Agbakoba.
It increases to 25% the involvement of NigerDelta people in ownership and management of oil companies in the region.
It unbundles NNPC into 5 or 6 companies.
It abolishes PEF and the corruption that comes with it.
It formulates a right pricing regime for gas and sanctions flaring.
It provides the much needed legal framework for eventual deregulation of the downstream sector.

Finally, you sounded so petty when you tried to strip Jonathan of credit due to him for refurbishing 10 power plants under the NIPP in one year.
This is a project that was kick started by OBJ in 2005 and was abandoned due to allegations of massive corruption. They did not see the light of the day.
In one year, Jonathan has refurbished the 10 power plants abandoned and has started generating an all time record of 4,477 megawatts.
The power plants are now working. And you are not ashamed to come and fool yourself over them.

Subsidy! subsidy! subsidy!. Enough of this subsidy thing. Let them just remove it so that we will rest. I was one of those who stood against this subsidy removal in January but with the turn of events I am having a rethink. The 90 Naira thing was just rubbish. We could as well have left govt to have their way so that by now we can challenge them on it. Besides I don't thnk that in a post subsidy era, NUPENG and oil marketers will hold us to ransome like they did during Sallah holidays in Abuja.

Naijagunner83: Away from this ranting and cursing, Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry has said that The North London Giants can survive the exit of Captain Robin Van Persie.
Henry: Arsenal can cope if Van Persie leaves - Goal.com

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry hopes Robin van Persie stays at the club but believes the Gunners are more than capable of coping if the forward departs.

Van Persie, 28, has been heavily linked with a move away after revealing a desire to leave the club earlier in the summer, with Manchester United, Manchester City and Serie A giants Juventus all interested in a move for the Dutchman.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger remains hopeful of holding on to his star striker but Henry is unsure whether the player will remain at the club.

"We hope he stays and that's the way it is," the Frenchman told Sky Sports News.

"I don't know exactly what is happening but as an Arsenal fan I want him to stay.

"He is still an Arsenal player and the boss has to deal with it. I just want Arsenal to do well. Robin will do what he will do and we'll see.

"When I left, everybody cried, but then the year after they went on a run of being eight points ahead. Everyone comes and goes."

Van Persie has less than a year remaining on his existing contract with the Gunners and has insisted he does not intend to extend his deal beyond the end of the current season.
Why this one carry Arsenal matter come here? Move it to sports plsssssss
