Hello house, please I have a question of urgent reply. I will be applying for my F1 visa soon and my uncle is my sole sponsor which is stated in I-20 form. Also I also have a personal saving over the years which is equivalent to half of the money required for my program which was not stated in my I-20 form. My question is this, is it advisable to go along with my own personal SOA adding to my uncle SOA. Knowing fully well that his SOA has more than the required fund needed as stated invmy I-20. I also have properties which I intend going along with my properties documents as a proof that I will definitely return after my program. Please house will all this increase my chances of approval?

I can see that you're damn anxious bout this F1 visa interview. The truth is you only have to prove that you're a genuine student and going with your uncles SOA isn't a limitation to your visa approval at all. On the landed properties docs; it's not required cos this is a F1 visa you talking bout not a B1... Bottom line is prove you are genuine, do your homework perfectly and boom! you'll have your visa. I'm sorry this is coming rather late, if you paid SEVIS fee in less than a year ago, you don't need to pay any dime to anybody. If you've changed the school you're going from the previous, all you need do is change the SEVIS from that school to the latter. Stay blessed bro.

I registered for Evaluation of my WAEC result using WES. WAEC has sent the result, WES has received it but WES is now waiting for another Verification from WAEC to determine the authencity of the result. This is taking weeks, this is the third week now and I am running out of time already.
Please those that have been in this situation before, what can I do to speed up the process as I am running out of time and options.

Make contact with someone at WAEC office, tell them they need to verify your docs via their mail. That's where the delay is.

Oh well, you can look to apply for a PhD, that seem like the best option in your situation. MBA programs are usually not funded and the chances for funding is pretty low. Travelling with your kids is doable, you only need to show you are financially buoyant to have dependants while you stay in the USA. Also, you will have to get the kids their F2 I-20 from your prospective school. Stay blessed.

No, NYSC isn't a requirement for admissions, neither is it for visa issuance. I wish you luck.

I have written the Toefl and preparing for the gre. but right now, that's all I'm doing. but I feel like I might be missing something. is there any other documentation I should be doing right now? I don't like being in a rush and racing against time which this might cause in the future.

Egbon Skido. You actually should have known the requirement of the program and the school you looking at. If you're required to submit an entry letter or statement of purpose and letter of recommendation, then now is the time for preparing those.

One other thing I forgot to mention earlier is to not include your IT (SIWES Industrial training) in your GPA calculation. Due to its heavy units (as high as 10 units in some universities), WES does not include it in their GPA calculation. So if you did, take it out and recalculate again.

PS: to others evaluating their transcripts themselves, please exclude your IT/SIWES from your GPA calculation. WES does not include it in their official evaluation, so that you get an accurate GPA after calculation.

Been reading your comments, seems you have experience with graduate admission,i have a few questions to ask you please!


1.I studied Accounting,can i get admission with funding, i graduated with 2.2, i know its upto 3. on naija scale of 5.0,i haven't seen my transcript, so i made the calculations my self, am serving by November, i only have statement of result and no cgpa is written on it.

2. Will i write GRE, Toefl and Sat all at once to stand a chance of getting funded by the school i apply to and what grades should i aim to stand a chance in all three exams?

3.what are my chances of remaining in the USA after my graduation?I don't want to come back to Nigeria, ever!

Well done Sir. You can get admitted with your grade sir. To get funded, you'll need only TOEFL and GRE scores for graduate studies.
You'll have to go to the exams and records department in your school so that they'll prepare your transcript fast as you can't do anything without that transcript.
Your chances of staying in the USA can be decided because overstaying will roll you outta status and you'll be living illegally.
You can't decide that you wanna school in Missouri because your uncle stays there. I believe you're man enough and should be able to cater for yourself in other States in the US.

Lmao. Well, the Fall (August) session is your best bet cos most of the schools' spring deadline has been reached and most don't even admit international students for Summer. So work towards that Fall o.

Not all schools in the US requires an external evaluation. If your CGPA in Nigeria scale of 5 or 7 is low then I'll advice you choose WES as there are other evaluation companies who might not boost your GPA.

Same thing I reasoned at the last second, its just that some friends I have do it even in school. 1 guy I met here on nairaland is in school and works 2 jobs from the first semester, off campus job, and he gave them his SSN with no shaking. Dude dey pack ego no be here, >$1200 plus per week while me on OPT don't even earn upto that. It's like I'm slacking here.
