These extra-terrestrial beings are just a class of civilization that are way past our level in intellect, you could not see man coming up with everything they know on their own so you bring up the "Extra-terrestrial beings taught them"

now this extra-terrestrial beings are neither eternal or omniscient which means at a certain point in their evolution they learnt about these knowledge, therefore we have gone back to the first problem, how did they get to learn it.

if they can without having to be taught by another extra-terrestrial civilization higher than they are in intellect, then surely humans can without needing extra-terrestrial influence.

But, if their intelligence is far much higher than that of man, then the possibility is real

these civilizations must first be eternal as well as omnipotent to exempt a cause for their knowledge. Just being above humans in intellect doesn't necessarily take away the need for their knowledge to have a beginning.

It must have gone through evolution as ours have and in the cost of this evolution it all falls back down to "how did it all start?'

they taught humans, alright but how did they get to learn?

did this knowledge come preinstalled in their mind? highly unlikely

The idea of God at the very first conception is more assumptive than empirical, that means that the postulation that there is a God is rather thought formulated rather than empirically backed.

So my disbelief in God is just an act of honesty in my part from my own perspective, i do not pretend to know there is no God i only try not to pretend that i know there is any.

I am not insinuating that the First Iron Smelting was from a Spiritual Source, but the complexity is amazing.

All evidence seem to point to the fact that man learnt the art from a non-human but advanced society..and that all human cultures try to recreate with the available material what they have seen these cultures do.

Some say extraterrestrials!
Some say demons/fallen angels
Some say hybrids of fallen angels and men(nephillims).

I take no definite stand here. But the similarities of the Process of Iron Smelting all over the world from China to Japan to Africa (you need to watch the video I posted for the guy above) is too striking. If just one of the essential is missen, iron can never be smelted

But we are forgetting the problem of infinite regression here.

This non-human civilization that probably taught the human technology to us, i am supposing they had this knowledge for eternity?

because if they did not then it still falls back down to how they also got to learn about this information?

so you see, we are back to the very problem that created this answer

I am so much interested with the atheist website for weeks now. the websites(withheld) are full of brilliant views and logic analysis to debunk the believe of Christian and Muslim god. I try as much as possible to look for an atheist website that has anything to do with African traditional faith, but it seems non exist.

reason is that most traditional beliefs are not as encroaching as their Abrahamic counterparts, Abrahamic religions are aggressive to every other religions and themselves too, so it is no surprise that such publicity makes them the obvious target to raw criticism

I will like to have a friendly discussion with any willing nairaland atheist. most of you guys here on nairaland are brilliant. the subject of the discussion can be on anything interesting. How do we define real though? For instance, if I dream of banana flavoured Ice cream and my mouth waters was the ice cream real?

Well, one might argue that the neural configuration in my brain that created the image of the ice cream was real but not the ice cream.

Well, everything that makes an impression on our perceptions is due to a neural configuration or the other. So is everything perceived as unreal as an imaginary icecream?

What if parallel universes exists whereby nothing that happens in one universe can have any bearing or any effect on what happens in another universe, would the events of one universe be real to the inhabitant of the other universe?

I used to have a definition that said something is only Real if an influence from it can somehow, anyhow, make an effect on my life.

So even the most distant invisible star would be real to me because it effects the slightest gravitational pull on me. But something that had zero effect cannot be said to be real.

Then there is the matter of phenomena vs Substance. Is the world as we perceive it Reality, or is it just the representation of a deeper reality that cannot be apprehended directly.

And what if the Phenomena (that which appears to the senses) is not in a fixed relationship to the Substance (that which lies beneath hidden).

Maybe a particular substance appears as one phenomenon today and then another unrelated phenomenon tomorrow. Could the phenomena be said to be Real?

Welcome PastorAIO you'd notice that people seldom contribute on threads like this one because it challenges them, it does not excite their fantasies. they want threads where they are to fight, bicker and hammer at each other, mock and blow out complete foolery. threads like that make 0 - 15 pages in one day.

No one wants to be challenged, nobody wants to actually think - well that is a story for another day back to the issue at hand.

To us humans what is real is directly influenced by our perception of it, like you said what directly has an effect on us even in the most negligible way is obviously real.

so our perception is our center of the cosmos, every other thing revolve around it to us. I have been thinking, what if we do not think? what if we do not perceive?

will every other thing else be real still or will it not?

If there are other universes and we are not in any least way entangled in a hyper dimensional tugs like wormholes, then by virtue of being outside our space and time, such universes do not exist because they have no direct consequences what so ever.

But the real question is, do they not exist outside the confines of our perception, our experiences or even our own dimension.

Our perception is feeble, it can come up with dreams, imaginations and hallucinations, perceptional mirages that tickle our realities.

But what if our whole reality is just in our head, what if my computer screen and keyboard is just in my mind, what if even my own body is but a dream of a mind somewhere in eternity?

Are we simulated?

Religiously yes we are!
it is not impossible.

So how do we really tell what we perceive is real?

But at the end of the day we are unbearably limited, what ever method we employ to judge our mind will always be the judge, but our mind is the only thing we can really tell is real, nothing stops every other thing from being just a picture in the mind

Relatable examples you have given, countless others can also be brought to the table to further affirm your points but people will never think outside the boundaries of their faith.

There will always be an excuse for God for those who have faith about god.

The church shooting incident at Ozubulu, i saw an instance of someone thanking God for sparing his life, it is jaw dropping.

so to this i add.

Assuming prayers works and God interferes with mundane activities, please tell me exactly why you need to Beg an All good God to help you or the logic behind reminding an omniscient God to help you.

If God is all good by definition, then it would want to help you whether you ask or not, if God is omniscient it would never forget to help you, if this holds true then prayers for favor is as useless as Buhari in Aso rock.

With everything going on in the world today, with the evidences of fate deciding chance all around us - it is not misplaced to say that if there is a God, any God; it is indifferent to us like the cosmos is.

There is a popolar old adage that says " seing is believing". But how true is this?
Is it always true that what man senses organ percieve is the TRUTH?
A little experiment on visual illusion can help us, may be?

it amazes me the similarities between Yoruba and igbo cultures aside system of Government, there is a striking resemblance in both religions, culture and language.
