Is it the same Onumonu that brought some spark to our attack ?
Demehin that was shaky suddenly becomes prime Maldini to have prevented three goals indirectly .

You make emphasis on speed; what's pace without technicality?

No disrespect but I take it that you spew things that aren't valid or you probably have a different view from what's glaring as the truth.

If it's intentional, fine but if it's not you'd need to rethink your points.

Lastly, in recent time, it's an error to compare Ajibade to Caicedo.....

codemaniacs:
They are the same level..

it's the same way people on this thread were denigrating Abiodun and Demehin inclusion in the starting 11 but they ended up been the best players on the field.

Without Abiodun and Demehin Super Falcons would have lost that match by at least 3 goals.

The energy Abiodun and Demehin brought to the midfield and defense is also needed in attack and the only young attacker available that can bring that energy is Gift Monday.

The only problem the SF have in attack is Onumonu because she's too slow.

Gift Monday, Kanu, Ajibade, Ajakaye, Sebastian or any other fast player would done a better job than Onumonu.

Linda Caicedo plays like Flourish Sebastian

while Gift Monday, Ajakaye and Ajibade are better footballers than Linda Caicedo..

Only Gift Monday speed almost gave Morroco heart attack.

Slow attackers like Oparanozie and Onumonu are always letting important goal scoring chances waste.

in the last world cup, Oparanozie couldn't tap in a cross from Ajibade due to her slow pace.

In this world cup, Onumonu slow pace is killing super Falcons counter attacks..

If Messi had Onuachu's speed when he was younger would he have been the best player in the world?

You don't see them as been on the same level because they are Nigerians, you should remove such thinking from your mind.

Thank goodness players like Osimhen, Chukwueze, Orban, Boniface, Awoniyi, Moffi, Oshoala are changing the narrative.

grin grin grin grin
daveP:
forget that thing. Although the recent Gbasgbos made me keep saying that "by the time randy leaves, he will look more a saint than a villain, and that's cos of Nff stupidity and arrogance"

He is still inept in many aspects. Forget.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 12:27pm On Jul 25, 2023
Don't know if it's too early but I'm beginning to feel guilty for campaigningagainst Randy due to past loses.

The man seems to know what he's doing because I thought Onyi would start ahead of Payne but he's justified because Payne has proved herself.
Deltamani:
Halimatu Ayinde can also give better Passes in the Midfield especially those defense Splitting Passes if she pushes high on the Pitch…

I think Randy is sticking with Tony Payne at Attacking Midfield and using Onyi Echegini as her alternative..
By the way when Onyi came in against Canada she played wide on the Left and her Passes where just too good..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 12:23pm On Jul 25, 2023
I think, what matters is her confidence; if she's confident enough to do away with fear or respect for the opposing players, she'll definitely excel.
Someone has to help her by communicating the right words to her.
Deltamani:
Imuran is inexperienced but I would have loved to have her at Left Back against those Australian Speedy Winger and Right Back Carpenter.. But If Randy Keeps Ashleigh Plumptre then she must be defensive minded so that they don’t expose her with pace..!
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 12:18pm On Jul 25, 2023
Well, some persons on the thread feel otherwise or they probably haven't watched the falcons for some time.

I hope the coach puts finishing touches where necessary.
Deltamani:
I believe everyone here knows Halimatu Ayinde Capabilities, We know what she can offer and there’s no way we would be Comparing any other midfielder with her in that Position… Her major Problem back then was misplaced passes which is has grown past, But Yes everyone makes mistakes which is part of the game…
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 12:07pm On Jul 25, 2023
For now, Ohale is the only trusted centre back we have; Alozie moving forward would expose our defense.

With Ayinde back let's hope she's instructed to advance as Ayinde would give her some cover while Ucheibe support.

That's if our super analysts on this thread don't feel Ayinde is inexperienced to start by even sidelining her in their proposed 11.
Deltamani:
Their play mainly comes from the flanks especially there’s Kerr. The likes of Vine, Ford do drive in, cut back and their attacking Midfielder Gorry is their major threat in the middle and she isn’t that Strong, can easily be outmuscled by any of our midfielder.

Since Ayinde is back she should take up that DM role while Ucheibe runs Box-2-Box. I think this would be interesting..

Alozie again must be educated on what to do with the ball cause she’s always indecisive with the ball once she wins it or going forward..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 11:58am On Jul 24, 2023
How some people analyse football baffles me. The match was a fair fight although Canada was no underdog like someone stated by saying Zambia would have even defeated them.
Liposure:
Canada outplayed us no be say we try. Motherluck was just our on side
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 1:45pm On Jul 23, 2023
Thank you; exactly what I wanted to say.
It's people like them that clamored and shouted that Anthony Okpotu was better than Ighalo.
The same them said Junior Lokosa was our new Yekini.
It's annoying how they analyse and hype players they like not minding if their inclusion in the national team won't yield anything positive.
lovewins:
You guys need to tone down on the incessant call for Sebastien, Onyenezide and Ajakaye to be included in the Super Falcons. You don't know how ridiculous it's beginning to sound.

Due to our emotional attachments, we sometimes hype players beyond their current capabilities. Don't get me wrong I believe they have great potentials, but that doesn't necessarily translate into their present reality. Also, age grade competition doesn't mean you can now compete with pros.

Ajakaye for instance was highest goal scorer in the qualifiers in our Zone. When she got to the world stage, she had just one goal and one assist at the u17 level.

Flourish Sebastien is a great talent, but had just 1 goal and zero assist at the u20 level. Same Flourish didn't even start for Bayelsa United at the CAF women's Champion's league had zero goals and suddenly she's better than super falcons players? . Both Flourish and Ajakaye play in the NWFL. How many goals did they have last season? If we had a NWFL team of the season, will they even make the list?

We traditionally take players from the u17/u20 to join the Super falcons campaign to the world cup for many years. This year wasn't any different. We have 3 players from the 2022 u20 squad in the team and 2 of them started the last game. To show how good and improved they are, all of them are no longer in Nigeria. One is playing D1 college football in the US and the other 2 are pros in France.

Let's allow these girls to grow and support them while doing it. If I were Sebastian and Ajakaye, I'll take the Deborah Abiodun route. Get a D1 college team in the US and grow from there. Don't let us hurry these girls before their time. It's how Nwakali got hurried into the super eagles and he's been shut out since then. Let's allow them grow.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 6:59pm On Jul 22, 2023
Please where's the person that stated that Zambia could have defeated Canadahuh
Some analysis here irk and lack logic.

Not forgetting the comparison between Ayinde and Abiodun made by someone; the disrespect though sad
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo:
Ordega was below par, although I Ajibade too has not really delivered in recent times. I just hope she comes back better.
daveP:
We really miss Ajibade. Ordega didn't offer what i consider good enough.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 2:14pm On Jul 21, 2023
Exactl!!
I'm surprised someone feels they'll have done better than Nigeria.
isan:
Zambia would have concede like 5 goals today
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 10:12am On Jul 21, 2023
How we take dy watch ballhuh
Canada is not an underdog in female football; it's a disrespect to the Super falcons to think Zambian's would have played better.....No na sad
Odogwujayy:
All in all, we still have a mid coach... I just have a hunch that the Zambians would have won this game. Whether 1st or 2nd we need to cm out the group.. Teams in group A are all beatable if we're to meet in the round of 16. Let's hope for a better performance against the hosts on Thursday.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 6:08am On Jul 21, 2023
With Ayinde, Ajibade and probably Oparanozie available for the next games, I'm optimistic of good pressing.

She sure needs their encouragement else her morale would be affected. She has done well.
daveP:
That press style will determine how far we go. We can't continue to play 2nd fiddle all 90. But this is a good test of resilience and character.

Debbie will be frightened. The senior girls should encourage her. Should have been 10 v10 but racism dey officiating.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 5:47am On Jul 21, 2023
Valid point but I think we lacked players on the bench who could press; be like na attack minded players dy pass
daveP:
A simple tweak, though easier said than done, was yo bring two players that can press and leave Christy as DM. The entire midfield were exhausted after 60th min sotey you'll think we still on 2subs mode. Randy should allow these ladies not get injuries abeg.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo:
Ayinde is technically sound than Abiodun; no disrespect to her.
AYINDE happens to be the best DM we've got safe for Ucheibe.
Abeg, there's difference
Idiko1:
There is no difference between Ayinde and Abiodun.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 5:42am On Jul 21, 2023
Just to protect her because she made tackles which was for the good of the team but had earned warnings and exposed her to possible a yellow/red card which eventually happened.

The team did well, Randy too grin
AkinDS:
Why was she needed to be subbed?
The truth is none of the subs that came in made any impact.
Abiodun, as a starter, was playing very well and could have gone the full 90.
Absolutely NO reason to sub her.

Randy was spot on in his team selection today.
Kudos to our SF and massive SHAME on FIFA for their RACIST intent.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 5:37am On Jul 21, 2023
True but he was conservative which wasn't that bad.
Pushing more bodies forward would have exposed us badly as our defence was a bit shaky.
Deltamani:
If we had a better Coach we would have beaten Canada Fair and Square… Coaching Matters a lot!

Deborah would have been taken out at 70minutes at least… I wonder when he brought in Echegini and moved her to the Flank, why not bring in Monday Gift
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 5:35am On Jul 21, 2023
While Randy failed to sub Abiodun earlier on, let's not forget her ability to mark and pressure the Canadians was much needed.

People!!!!!
How do you watch football??
Writting off Ndidi and rating Onyedika, Daga, Onyeka ahead of him....The audacity though.
mancoconut:
Akinsanmiro and Eletu have both been promoted to the first teams of Inter and AC Milan respectively, here's to wishing them an amazing season cause these kids are the immediate future of that Eagles midfield. A midfield of

Iwobi
Onyedika
Yusuf
Daga
Eletu
Akinsanmiro
Aribo
Onyeka is rich in depth and decent quality.

Notice how I didn't include Ndidi, cause I honestly think he's not good enough any longer to be a starter, he's better off on the bench.

You can't shame the shameless. They are shameless hence the gutter response. No serious organisation in the world will respond to crises like this. Only politicians do this and these responses is reflective of the hold politicians have on sports in the country.

The level of corruption and administrative incompetence in Nigeria will superise those who haven't witnessed it. Try to read David Hundeyin's investigation on NCAA, then you'll understand that public administration in Nigeria has gone to the dogs.

Shame on the communications director and NFF for such wayward response. Incompetency at its peak

NFF Communications Director, Ademola Olajire; "Incompetent loudmouth. Found his voice now since he's about to achieve his only ambition of leading a team at the World Cup."

Again you can't shame the shameless

He might be sacked after the world cup and as such his words won't be taken seriously.
It's better he exposes things now....after all, all die na die.
AndSunGorilla:
My only comment is Baba for wait till after the WC to spill all these beans. All the rant is distracting to the team and truth is he has endured it for a long time anyway.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 1:32pm On Jul 04, 2023
The future is probably bright for the Super falcons with the right coach if only the NFF tone down politics and interference in player selection.
Deltamani:
You all should take note of Rofiat Imuran at the World Cup too, that girl is one for the Future…!!

Gk- Chiamaka Nnadozie

DF- Blessing Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, Akudo Ogbonna, Onyi Zogg, Nicole Payne, Chidinma Okeke

MF- Christy Ucheibe, Onyi Echegini, Peace Efih, Deborah Abeodun, Esther Onyenezide

AT- Rash Ajibade, Monday Gift, Maclean Chinonyerem, Anam IMO, Flourish Sabastine, etc are certainly for the future as they’re all below 24 except Onyi Zogg

We still competition for Chiamaka Nnadozie

smileyThank God you are not Randy.
I understand your point though; disrespect is a NO.
JohnBullMySon:
No bruh. No player whatsoever has any right to correct his coach. That's straight up insubordination. It's like having a soldier correct his officer.

Doing it on the pitch can be excused because emotions run high sometime. But doing it long after the match has ended, publicly, is something that should never be tolerated.

The coach has his own employers for a reason. If I were Randy, She would have left the squad immediately after that. Personally I hate disrespect for direct authority.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 4:27pm On Jun 16, 2023
She's tested and proven. I hope she shines this time too irrespective of game time.
Deltamani:
I only just the World Cup as a base of it all if not Ordega have been excellent for the SuperFalcons…

Check out, 2010 WAFCON she was mostly a substitute though but performed well when she came on.
2012 WAFCON she alongside Oparanozie and Ohale didn’t partake.
2014 WAFCON she was excellent, I can’t even forget the final against Cameroon, her excellent dribble and pass to Oshoala who scored the Second goal..
2016 WAFCON she was good too, full of running from both flanks..
2018 WAFCON she was arguably our 2nd best player behind Tochukwu Oluehi our penalty heroine.
2020… there was no WAFCON due to Covid and all that.
2022… She didn’t play much as Randy was still having selection problems but Her entire performance was average at best.. Even the WAFCON qualification game against Ghana the first leg, she gave the two assists to Kanu… and missed out on the second leg because of injury..

This season she have 5 goals, 3assist in 10 games, missed only 3 games because of a minor injury that kept her out for about 2weeks plus..
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 4:24pm On Jun 16, 2023
But to be fair, Randy needed that at that point; the poor results was too much. Coming from a senior player, the criticism would be taken seriously and positive change would be effected.
It's just like saying players should keep quiet irrespective of how the football federation treats them. Sometimes, someone needs to speak up irrespective of how unprofessional it sounds.
lovewins:
It was after the last WAFCON. Also she didn't just criticise Randy, she ridiculed him and basically called him incompetent. Fans and pundits can do that, but you don't say that to your boss.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by Jojodjo: 3:41pm On Jun 16, 2023
I guess she's just like Ahmed Musa who's most times performed well at the world cup
Deltamani:
FRANSISCA ORDEGA have been in great form for CSKA MOSCOW this season, With 5goals and 3 assists from 10 games that isn’t a bad Statistics for a Winger of her Caliber and she is comfortable on both wings as she can use both feet’s effectively, Known for her pace, low centre of gravity, and dribbling skills, I have always praised her for offering a "real threat," her use of pace with composure and her maturity. Despite her small stature, she also possesses considerable upper-body strength, which aids her in withstanding challenges, and retaining possession.

She is blessed with natural pace that makes even the best defences and defenders take a step back during 1v1 situations.

Yes she probably haven’t been at her best for the Falcons but we should also remember that Ordega have never had a BAD game at the World Cup she’s always among the top performer.
