Hmm. Too much good options. Oya, let's do some emotional commentating (this one is solicited for): 1. 3.5yrs Ph.D overseas + 2yrs in Nigeria = 2019 - 2025. at the end of 2025, you have Nigerian passport + foreign Ph.D options after: a. stay and continue to develop Nigeria (very necessary, someone must do it) b. try and immigrate to: i. Canada, but Conservatives could be in power and might have reduced immigration levels + you will have lost 30 points which will degrade the points you get from Ph.D. ii. Try out UK, Australia and US immigration, but immigration is already hard, might still be hard. iii. On the flip side, immigration abroad might be easier. So only God knows. It is an unknown to us. 2. Apply for Canada EE now, a. 2019: get COPR, land and become a PR. Find employment or continue your Ph.D dream. b. 2023: after completing your residency, apply and become a Canadian citizen. at the end of 2023 you have Nigerian passport + Canadian passport + freedom to go anywhere in world and be anything. If it was me, I will pick option 2. But I'm not you, I'm not in your shoes, I don't know how important the Ph.D is to you and what you have invested. I don't know your hopes and dreams, I don't know your calling. Maybe God has called you for such a time as this to prepare you to transform Nigeria in years ahead. You need to look deep and decide what you really want at the end of the day for you and your family. After all, you kept on pursuing the Ph.D dream even while you were planning for Canada. God bless and give you wisdom. Teach us to number our days so our hearts might know wisdom! markmp01: Hi Fam,
Congrats to all PPR clinchers.
I'm in a serious fix and I need some advise.
1. I'm about to enter the pool. 2. Just got a phd scholarship offer (for 3.5years) that requires I return to my country at the end of the programme, and stay for 2 years without getting a work permit abroad or applying for a permanent residency.
Beloved brethren, what does a brother do at this time of need... Do I;
i. Reject the offer and wait for PPR. (At least I can derive some consolation from my present job (although I'm not really happy with what's going on there at the moment) ii. ... iii ...
I need some ideas please.
Thanks a billion. |

Look like WES increased their capacity. They have been delivering before 20 days for a while now. ijoseda: Spouse ECA done and dusted!
MSc Ibadan and had to also send in WAEC result.
It came 6 days ahead of the scheduled date for completion (14th November).
I actually DM'ed WES on Twitter explaining to them the need for me to get the assessment report before 10th of November, in preparation for the possible draw on 12th or 14th of November. The response was - No, we don't expedite result. I thanked the handler for the response and that was it.
I was pleasantly surprised to get the report this evening, 6 days ahead of schedule. I know someone on this thread mentioned that the report comes a few days ahead of schedule. For example, I got mine 2 days ahead. I'm just curious if the request via twitter had any effect, although I seriously doubt it. |

Could happen. That is why someone could get PPR in 34 days. The case officer just has to decide that the application is acceptable to him/her, no other review needed. Pass! jelmusboy: Congrats, read your previous post today and I feel for you. You can now start preparing to move.
But wait, does it mean they concluded eligibility and security within a week?
On the other side, the rate at which I'm seeing people writing about losing their job in this thread is alarming. Naija don cast I swear.

Early next year, ke! Accra, Accra!!! SkyWalk12: Dear all,
I don’t know if anyone here remembers me (took a break from Nairaland).
I am now 10 months post AOR. Had my interview in Accra middle of September. In early October, Ralph’s office informed me that all my assessments had been passed.
Today, I got an email from Accra stating that my file was awaiting final review and I should expect to hear back from them early next year.
Please someone on this thread, let God use you to help me and tell me what to do to get my PPR way sooner so that I can come and testify.
Patiently waiting for helpful tips (I’ve ordered 2 GCMS and I send about 2 emails a day to the Accra office). Thank you. |

I think the letter is clear. And it is good as your application is still in the early stage. I think you can also add that you erroneously/mistakenly forgot to include it in your personal history. Phlunter01: Oya oh I don enter am with all this My many side hustles....Advice needed oh. I have submitted my application (AOR - Nov 2, 2018)
Dear Sir/Madam, Letter of Explanation for Personal History (Additional information)
While I work with BYCT Bank plc as stated in my employment history (December 2012 till date), I have been a part time Agricultural Consultant with GXYZ Farms since August 2012. The farm is a mixed farming business with its major farm settlements in Ogun state Nigeria, I carry out research, render advisory and training services as well as evaluations for the farm from time to time whenever it is required This was born out of my passion for Agriculture and my degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension. I also have a small mocktails business where I cater for small parties on the weekends when I get orders this is called DETHK Cocktails and it is owned by me and registered as a business name though I have not done much with it. I also have an unregistered Papercraft hobby name REGEG Crafts and I do this freelance for friends and family . I thought it important to mention all these as they form part of the activities I have engaged in within the last 10 years and I am aware that it is important to mention all activities engaged during this period. Though this activities/engagements do not form part of the basis by which I am qualified for the Express Entry program, I do not wish to withhold any information from the CIC hence this Letter of Explanation. |

WES never made it clear. But some folks assume it has to do with date of birth issues on transcript from school. jelmusboy: If I may ask, what's the essence of evaluating SSCE? Is it to know if you attended secondary school or for something else? What's the evaluation outcome for SSCE |

For Q2, I don't know if the fact you didn't make all your papers once matters. But to avoid stories, you can use NECO, the process seems simple too, you can search the thread for the process. For Q1, you can contact WES or maybe the licensing body. jelmusboy: Morning people.
I just realized that I will need WAEC/NECO if I need to upgrade my credentials to course-by-course for licensing purpose. Can I use WES USA course-by-course evaluation for this purpose in Canada?
I have both WAEC (Two sittings) and NECO (one sitting), which one should I evaluate because I don't know why SSCE is being requested for by WES?
I can easily get the WAEC sent to WES cos I have family members working there but not NECO.
I'm landing in Canada in few weeks' time and I want to get it sorted before I leave.
Kindly advise pls |
