hardon1: But we don't really export anything aside crude. When I say export, I mean something exported massively that turn in billions into the country, not petty cola nut, bitter kola or cassava flour. And right now, crude is that only commodity what about Gold, Tin, Copper and other solid minerals? Corruption is really what kills this country. |

Come to think of it, last week the Naira hit record low of 1400 Naira, now it is hitting another record low of 1348 Naira.
I wonder why some Nigerians just love to spread half baked news. |

musicwriter: They are probably chasing the illusion called "equilibrium" in economics. If so, they've certainly withdrawn to textbook economic theories which have little or nothing to do with reality.
This is why Mr. Noam Chomsky often joke that people didn't read beyond chapter one of Adam Smith's wealth of nations, cause Smith warned in the later part of the book about the downside of his economic thoughts (he never called it theory) others later called it theory.
But Smith said that everything he proposed is PECULIAR; example to a given place, time, situation, weather, etc.
In our PECULIAR Nigerian situation, you can never reach any equilibrium, as long as there's corruption in Nigeria.
If they like they should go ahead and make the Naira N2,000/$1. They'll always be black market as long as there's corruption in Nigeria. there's corruption in the West too, yet their economy isn't as abysmal as ours. People say Nigeria needs to export more goods for the Naira to gain strength against the dollar, yet Nigeria still export goods and the Naira keeps falling everyday like the water in Niagra Falls. I honestly believe there is a systemic attempt by the political class to keep this country the way it is, because this way, it will always favor them and they will continue to rule. |

sukkot: oh OK Chief I was not aware of the activities of the new supermod. It’s good that Seun is refreshing things that way by getting new energy once in a while. As you alluded to maybe it’s the new guy who did it. Oh yeah he is aware after I told him but I think he had done the decision by then and his ego ( or should I say the Nigerian ego ) would not let him renege on the decision he had made. I thought the whole thing felt like I was being bullied and victimised for having a diverging opinion from someone who wields the power . But like I said earlier it’s all water under the bridge lol You were banned for a month? Lol. Sounds like a small fry to me who was issued a 2 year ban. |

naptu2: Having a poll to select the best moderator will never work. This is the best method.
Yes, it's true, I enjoyed the selection process back in the day when we had polls to select the best poster in each section. The best moderator was selected by a vote in the hidden moderator section and then the thread was made public for all to see.
Unfortunately there are many people that are on Nairaland just to cause trouble and these people usually have numerous accounts.
I remember what happened in 2009 when Becomrich was elected the politics section poster of the year, then the admin annulled the election (because Becomrich was a frequent rule breaker) and then he was reinstated and then then the election was cancelled again and then he was reinstated again.
I also remember what happened in 2012 when Chinua Achebe was voted into the Nairaland Politics Section Hall of Shame and then the election was cancelled and the moderators resigned.
The moderators were appointed by the admin and he gave them a target and instructions on what to do. He is the best person to decide who has met those targets and followed the instructions. If you have a poll, troublemakers will use their numerous accounts to vote for somebody that has done the opposite. the emboldened should have been considered. |

It all started when Tacha spoke as a guest on her colleague Phyna’s podcast and addressed the topic of Mum Zee waking up to cook for her husband at 4 am. The snippet from the podcast went viral, and a social media user drew the married woman’s attention to what Tacha said about it.

Stating his opinion isn't bad, but still, what's stopping me from opening another thread and say otherwise, after all, it's my opinion and no poll need be conducted, no? 🤷♂️ |

DissTroy: You can be honest about this. But TheFlint1 and others would play blind to it, only to criticize Rivers. Or agbero in Lagos.
People are getting decimated in his home state daily but places where it's less are more of his concern.
Like the Sportswack dundérhéad who nearly lured his kinsman Izu days back about no sit-at-home in Imo. He'd rather another person dies in the hands of violent agitators than paint his state for what it is - overrun by criminals who hold sway. Well, I know for certain agbero exist in many states in Nigeria, it is not synonymous to Lagos alone. Even the insecurity we are talking about, once upon a time, it was only prevalent in the north east, now it is almost in every state. They can deny however they want to deny, but the truth will always will always be the truth. Nigeria is not secure. Period. |

Where are you from? [/color] Why should anybody be dragging Lagos when, if examine critically, their state is worse of? That sounds like misplaced priority to me. |

If it was Rivers State or others, he'd see it. There goes the "kikiki" brainless quotes to troll them. I didn't read anything about it. Perhaps I missed it. Cultism in Edo state is almost like tradition. It didn't start today, neither do I believe it will end tomorrow. |

Shush it! I didn't see you discuss about the cult killings in Edo when Ségédinho was on about it last December. You played blind. Somehow you played blind but you are quick to join in to castigate Rivers State whenever it comes up. Hmm. I didn't even read anything about it on old or new media. Though I read people complaining about it, saying Bini is a hot zone and more than 150 people have been killed or so. Though I couldn't confirm because like I said, I didn't read anything about it... |

Nobody mentioned your moniker. I didn't. You know you are guilty of same. You've joined in to criticize ongoings in other states where you reside on this thread, bit somehow, Anambra where you hail from gets exempted from your criticisms.
You want to personify it so there it is - I have taken equal measure. and what's that thing they say about charity? 🤔 |
