DissTroy: When Sheik Gumi became the spokesperson for bandits and kidnappers even warning of grave consequences if they were treated violently yet the Buhari administration looked the other way was the period kidnapping became an explainable and excusable vice in the public discourse. State governments began negotiating ransoms for release of school kids and public officials.
Sheik Gumi still walks free, and those kidnappers got even more bolder, with new converts getting more ideas.
The foreign media is going bunkers with negative reports about Nigeria, and you can be certain our FDI (for this quarter at least) would be tanked. https://www.nairaland.com/1143855/tha-hell-sheik-gumiThis was almost 12 years ago. If the government back then couldn't curb the guy's utterances, then your guess is almost as good as mine. |

The purpose of education is not to get a job. The purpose of education is to train your mind to think so that you can solve your problem and that of your group (culture). If you're unable to think yourself or and your culture out of a predicament, then you didn't go to school.
The purpose of education is to think your way out of a difficult situation, whether it's getting a job, or getting a wife or husband, restructuring your society or country, getting rich, traveling abroad, joining politics, learning a trade. Even if it's armed robbery or fraud you want to do, your education should make you better at doing it.
Whatever it is.....the purpose of education is that you should come up with a better way to get it done with or without help.
For about two years, I've been facing a downtime because I am currently investigating something that led me into economic meltdown. Believe me, I investigate and experiment on anything. I'll not say more on this because it's an ongoing investigation. I'll write something about it when I am done.
Meanwhile, I asked myself: what can I write now that people can buy across cultures around the world. I decided on a topic and wrote 8 books on that topic last year. I uploaded them on various sites including on Paystack and Flutterwave.
This year alone, I've sold 6 copies at $19 each on organic sales. No advertising yet but I'll soon advertise them.
How can someone who truly passed through a school system not fix himself?
Paystack and Flutterwave have solved a major problem for Nigerian youths who want to succeed.
Green = sold successfully which topic did you decide on and what's the title of your book? |

Itsrm: No, I disagree. Poverty has a lot to do with it actually. When people are hungry and frustrated with no where to turn to, they will do whatever they can to make money and dare the consequences.
Abba Kyari only tells us that people can have money and still engage in crime. Doesn't mean people don't turn to crime when they have no money. I'll say it has ot to do with greed, and less to do with poverty. There are people who are poor, who will never take what doesn't belong to them, no matter what. |

Actually what that Corp Member did is wrong. I'm not holding brief for the way the soldier and that staff acted. The Corp member is suppose to take permission from his state coordinator before embarking on that walk.
This is Nigeria were people are being kidnapped everyday. So that Corp member embarking on that walk to Abuja to see the president is not only endangering his life, he's putting the entire staff of NYSC on perilous ground.
I hope all parties involved are disciplined. Nigerians need to know there are ways to which things are done. |
Politics › Re: CBN Moves Departments To Lagos State by joseph1832(m): 9:05pm On Jan 13, 2024 |
musicwriter: Indeed, I've long theorized that moving Nigeria's capital from Lagos to Abuja was the beginning of taking away power from the people.
You see, when the capital was in Lagos with it's huge population of underprivileged citizens, people could easily register their frustration through protests directly at the government house. This is despite the governments were military regimes then.
Moving the capital to a well-off neighborhood like Abuja means that the very people feeling the worst of the government's wrong policies are no longer near the government house to register their frustration every now and then.
This is why the Nigerian government can get away with anything since then. can you say this was a strategic move? Because I remember asking why the capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja back then, I was because it's not safe for any country to have its capital in a state that has boundary with an ocean. |

Swordfish.
A nice watch. Reminds me of all the so called returned Abacha loot.
The West is busy returning Abacha loot, after all these years, but they're not returning the interest the loot have accrued.
328 million dollars, looted in 1996 will be how much today? 🙄🤔 |

Jackanda1: I recently applied to work in an organisation.
After passing the interview and checks, the management was impressed and decided to hire and give me a major role in the company.
When i asked about the payment for my position, they threw me a popular question; HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD PAY YOU?
I gave them a figure in mind, a little above what i got in my former job. Their facial expression was 'WoW'.
I started work on tuesday and after making friends and chating the secretary, i found out that i earn twice less than the staffs in the company in the same position.
Infact, i earn a little more than the gateman and cleaner. The secretary even earns more.
Its my fault, should have done some checks on the strength and salary structure of the firm before applying.
I feel discouraged. With this information, i won't be able fuction properly. Plus this secretary with her loud mouth will spread the news in the company, making me feel worst.
Anyone with this experience? Please console me. just be patient. Put in your best and don't let it deter you. When it's time for a promotion, you'll get it and your pay will double... but if it's a one man business, you're on your own. |

Not a bad movie. A reflection of how the West use their big corporations to influence or try to control 3rd world countries in other to exploit them because of their natural resources.
The moviie is a subtle reminder that, no matter how many people hate you, there are still people who love you. It's as simple as that. |

Seun: I don't know how to control these individuals. I want to get a sense of whether it's normal for employees to ignore their bosses & fight them. Now this is where you make mistake. You can't control human beings, you can condition them, but control, nope. These humans have minds of their own, they're the ones who work here, they see, hear and feel things you don't, so, controlling them is a waste of time, however, listening to them is the way forward. They're the ones who moderate, they've met Nairalanders offline (which Nairalander have you met offline?) So they're the ones who should have ideas about how this platform should function. What you should do, is listen to them and meditate over whatever thoughts or idea(s) they may have. Controlling them is DOA (they ain't dogs). Now, as to know whether it's normal for employees to ignore their bosses, it is not. Imfact, it's the very sign of disregard and disrespect. So, if your employees ignore you, you should ask yourself what you're not doing, what gave them the impetus, the audacity for them to ignore you etc. This is the plain truth. Dude, you have alot of work cut out for you, albeit, you need alot of introspecting about how to move this platform to greater heights than what it is now. To do that, you need alot of ideas from Nairalanders. (oldtimers) |

Christianity Etc › Re: My Take On The BBC Documentary On TB Joshua by joseph1832(m): 2:32pm On Jan 11, 2024 |
gidgiddy: I took my time yesterday to watch all three Episodes of the BBC documentary on late TB Joshua. A number on women of different races and nationalities, British, South African, Zimbabwean, American, Philippines and Nigerian, all came together to talk about TB Joshua
The one thing all these women had in common is that they once all moved from their respective countries to live in TB Joshua's Region's community, Synagogue Of All Nations, SOAN, and became part of his inner circle.
All the women gave horrific and graphic accounts of rape, underage sex, sexual abuse, physical and verbal abuse carried out on them by TB Joshua.
The South African woman claimed she had three abortions due to multiple rape by TB Joshua. The British women told how TB Joshua would send for them only to sexually molest them. The Zimbabwean gavee a story of how TB Joshua raped her as a virgin and underaged.
Even TB Joshua's own daughter came foward to tell how she confronted her father for multiple sexual molestation of women only for him to have her locked up for months and beaten daily.
I was also shocked at the Story of how the SOAN building collapsed, the lie that was told that an aircraft brought it down, and the coverup that followed as well as the 'fake miracles'
Even though TB Joshua is no longer here to defend himself, I believe these women. There is no smoke without fire. A group of women who live in different countries of the world cannot give similar accounts of sexual abuse by one man without it having an element of truth
I believe that TB Joshua was a rapist, sexual predator and a sociopath. I believe TB Joshua used religion to cover up the evil within himself. He operated as a man of God in the light, but was a devil in the dark.
I also believe that there are many well known men of God who are currently doing what TB Joshua did. fame and money, reveal the beast in humans. |
