If this happened in Nigeria social media would have been ablaze with flimsy opinions and the likes.

Congrats ma'am.

I write what I feel when I'm alone. But when it's got something to do with the people, I can't stand and watch a piece I suffered to create not get viewed. So I rather put it on a better site where it'd be appreciated by not only a few... but by the majority. You understand what I'm saying, right? I know you'd understand if you've been going through the poems section. Not everyone goes there. Like they are centered on the important sections, which I can't even count.
Yea I understand what you've saying but hey trust me, Nigerians don't appreciate poetry so it's not just a Nairaland thing.

Most poems you see here that have thousands of views didn't just get the views overnight. It accumulated with time. So patience is key. Besides if you continue to write I remember once telling you you'd evolve like so many of us.

Out of curiosity, which other site poems get viewed more than Nairaland?.

Hello OP there are a thousand of them in Taraba State and a handful in Adamawa and Gombe.

Perhaps you meant , the only first class monarch in Gombe state or some other explanation.

Your topic is so so so so so misleading....

Mods, don’t be too quick to push things to the FP...don’t you guys in NL have some small research team to make the basic fact checks?
Haba...

EducationRe: Duoye Diri Honours NDU's First Female First Class Law Graduate, Ebizi Eradiri by joseph1832(m): 8:22am On Jan 12, 2021
He should shut up. Who did he honour first, isn't it Nengi? Anyway I believe he's done the right thing now. No sane human will compare this young lass to Nengi, they're obviously not in the same league.

Just look at how natural she looks and she appears decent. Beauty with brains and good character is always the finest qualities in any woman.

Ichoku always cracked me up because of the crazy translations and the reactions of the people in the court to the translations.

The look on their faces when the court clerk said that dogs and pussy cats were falling from the sky was priceless.
Lol. I've always believed the translator always told the judge the wrong details and sometimes even insults the judge with igbo.

Was really young then though. Had to watch those programs because it's what my older siblings watched. Sometimes they interpret it for me and sometimes they don't.

Do you write for views or you write what you feel and how you feel?

Whatever it is, drop your poem and never mind the views. Let posterity judge. smiley

The young man should inform NYSC via her L.G.I. He will take it up with the police. Since it involves murder which is a capital crime, the state coordinator should be informed as well.

Alausa?

I know people who lived somewhere in Alausa and they had 24 hours power. Their explanation was that power that was sent to Lagos from the grid landed in Alausa before it was distributed to the rest of Lagos.

There was a time that we had 24 hours power for almost 2 years. That's because we were on the same line with State House Dodan Barracks. Unfortunately we were removed from that line a few months before the NEPA strike of 1989.
Nope.

One of the barracks in Ikeja. Won't mention because I don't want to divulge too much info.

Imagine and she's a drug addict according to those who were arrested.

Sometimes I honestly fail to wonder what makes these girls take to drugs. It seem very common in the north. Like someone like this girl will never taste alcohol because her religion forbids it, but be quick to take hard drugs because her religion didn't mention the drug by name specifically.

It's a crazy world out there. R.I.P to the beautiful damsel.

You call that rough, lol. Add walking from Onipan to Ketu to save school bus fare and you'd be getting close. I once paid for half a book because I did not have enough for a whole book. The bookseller gave me a discount for the first 50 or so pages that were missing. I was so happy I got like 500 pages even though I never knew the beginning.

As bad as it seems we still had people come crying to share the little we had because they had much less. I used to be angry when ma gave them my egg and coke money for their child's schoolfees or hospital bills because I'd have less for books. Funny now how my monthly budget for other peoples children's schoolfees exceeds my annual book budget.
that's the spirit! Never give up! I'm happy things came through for you.

Though I always tell people who complain about how harsh and hard life is that they're only complaining because they've not heard another person's story.

That is just Nigerian way, partisan everything for political gain.

If an election is organized and APC wins the election, you will surely hear PDP shouting foul and rigging, and vice versa.

This kinda election that is meant to be nonpartisan. Having APC swiftly congratulating the winners gives it a political undertone. Same thing if PDP had done that also
I totally understand you. Still same wasn't said when Goodluck Jonathan congratulated Buhari.... Though many in PDP weren't happy he did. Only God knows what would have happened if Goodluck Jonathan hadn't accepted defeat. Chai!

Botti ke? I've never seen myself as such. Always believed where I grew up was Hell until lately when I started hearing people talk about their childhood, then I realise I actually enjoyed every bit of it. Growing up was fun. I mean we had uninterrupted power supply. What didn't I watch? Frankly I didn't miss much either.

Like this is the APC version of Ohaneze, judging by the majority of the gladiators that queued behind him at the venue of the election.

If it isn’t APC thing, the party won’t be so swift to congratulate him.

Don’t be surprised when PDP and the party stalwarts in the region come out to reject the election and call it kangaroo
it's amusing how we Nigerians always tend to reject whatever doesn't favour us. grin

Naptu's description of life in the 70s and 80s is very not pretty consistent with the childhood of many. And no, nihili, I am not accusing you in any way of saying it was because, you didn't.

In the 70s I had to lug 3 buckets of water up to the third floor where we lived and when the transformer in front of the house blew up, which was just about every 6 months, we'd have no light for 3. The only electronics in the house till Festac 77 was the huge Blaupunkt ma insisted in bringing home from UK and the fridge. Imagine the bliss of world radios when we did have light. Thankfully, candles, lanterns and a torchlight when batteries could be afforded, were good for reading.

In the early 80s we moved to a ground floor but water moved like half a kilometre away and electric was like on a never never. Thankfully, the house behind ours was better pass we the neighbours and I just stuck my book out the window all night and read with the neighbours noisy light which worked for most books but not for studying Maths.

By the mid 80s, childhood? Telly? Not if you want chop you wouldn't, though like Naptu, midnight telly turned down low so as not to get caught, was fun when there was light. But after running along buses all day selling canned coke and eggs you might imagine how night was for sleep alone.

These books saved my life Ishi! I'd have been ignorant and dead otherwise. Some can be downloaded here
Jesus! Just when I always believe I had it rough growing up I discover I actually flexed growing up. Wow!.

It wasn't Kate Henshaw. Kate Henshaw acted as the house-help in a different tv series (can't remember the title). She spoke a really weird form of english (at least I think it was english) in that series.
this should be Candlelight.

Sat down in a bar yesterday and one dude was just making noise. To my surprise the barman shouted, "louder!" I was the only one who actually knew what he was talking about. Lol

Don't think I'll forget Ichioku in a hurry. Even though I was too little to even understand what was said in the series.

Well people still believe using your left hand to do anything is wrong. No matter what you type and how you portray it, typical Nigerians, especially the illiterate ones will never agree.

A trip to your village will convince you thoroughly. Try using your left hand to serve your village elders food. grin

FamilyRe: Most Ladies Won't Understand: Truth About Menstrual Cycle And Ovulation Period by joseph1832(m): 3:48pm On Jan 09, 2021
Hathor5:
The ovulation may occur as early as on the eleventh day after the first blood flow. In this case, having sex on the 9th day would improve chances to get pregnant. It's dangerous to say when the safe/unsafe period is because it depends on the length of the cycle. I have a digital ovulation tracker and can only recommend it to anyone who can afford it and who has a regular menstrual cycle.
so you're saying having unprotected sex where the man deposits his semen inside the woman, will most likely lead to pregnancy if both of them are fertile?
